For music lovers, the news about the difficulty of installing a subwoofer in the trunk will be unpleasant. It eats up a lot of useful space, and it will no longer be possible to transport bulky cargo. In addition, the subwoofer can simply be damaged. The trunk handle is uncomfortable and looks more like a recess. When closing, the door does not make the sound of the lock clicking - due to inexperience, you will have to double-check whether the trunk is closed or not. Sometimes there is a malfunction of the lock - if the driver presses the open button from the passenger compartment, the lid then does not close. You have to press the button several times. Lada Granta 2022 - a car that has been talked about a lot in the last couple of months, often and heatedly discussed, has been officially presented! The updated Granta put an end to the Kalina era, combining in one family four body styles, the hatchback and station wagon inherited from Kalina, as well as the liftback and sedan from the previous generation Granta. And this is just the beginning; very soon the Granta line will be replenished with two more models, Lada Granta Cross and Lada Granta Sport. The first one was also presented to the public at the presentation of the restyled Grant.

Lada Granta Cross

Today, there is no full range of technical characteristics of this version; it is only known that the cross version will be awarded only to the Granta station wagon, which will receive increased ground clearance to 240 mm and a plastic body kit. The increase in ground clearance will be due to suspension settings and the use of larger diameter tires.

The Lada Granta Cross will be equipped with two types of gearboxes, AMT and manual, but we will not see hydraulic mechanics on the cross version. We won’t see the rear disc brakes that the Granta Sport will receive, while the front brakes will remain the same as before the restyling.

As for the prices for the Grant cross-country station wagon, there is no information on them yet, but the prices for the remaining modifications were announced and pleasantly surprised the public.

The most significant changes in the exterior of the updated Grant family occurred in the front part of the cars. All of them received a design in the X-Face corporate style. In addition, the appearance, due to changes in the front end, has become more aggressive and sporty, thanks to a change in the angle of the front part and new headlights that have changed their position. With the advent of the new generation Granta, black bumpers have sunk into oblivion; now even in the basic configuration, bumpers will be painted in body color. The front fenders are also revised here.

Granta's profile remains recognizable; there are no stampings on the sides, i.e. the appearance is still recognizable. The sedan received a new trunk lid, onto the newly formed stamping of which the license plate was moved from the bumper.

The interior of the restyled Granta remained virtually unchanged; there was a new dashboard in the style of Vesta, new climate control controls, a new manual transmission knob and a handbrake with improved ergonomics.

The seats received a new shape with more pronounced lateral support, and new door handles appeared on the doors. And to ensure that less noise penetrates into the cabin, fender liners with pile are installed in the arches.

The external dimensions of the sedan are quite restrained, unlike Deo Lanos or Nexia cars, where most of the length is occupied by empty space. The front and rear bumpers of the Lada Grant practically do not stick out, although they have a convex shape. Thanks to this, the machine reaches a length of just over four meters (4260 mm).

The liftback, due to its more spacious luggage compartment, has a shorter length. True, the difference is not significant at all, only 1.4 cm (total length - 4246 mm). But the Granta in the sport body has a length longer than that of the sedan, by only 2 cm (4280 mm). This slight difference is not due to changes in the structure of the body, but due to updated bumpers that have a more convex and patterned shape.

The width of all three types: sedan, liftback and sport is absolutely the same. The dimensions of the car, from the edge of the left mirror to the edge of the right, are 1.7 meters. These dimensions are not very different from other Lada models (in width). At the same time, roominess and comfort are completely different in each model. For example, in Grant the interior is quite spacious, which cannot be said about Kalina.

After restyling, there were four Grants: a sedan, a liftback, a hatchback and a station wagon. VAZ has finally put things in order in the configurations, and now 14 versions are offered for each of the cars. They are the same for all body types. So, having chosen the optimal set of options, you won’t have to be upset that the Grant you need is not sold with it. Full parity.

The most affordable is a sedan. It costs from 419,900 to 608,800 rubles. The liftback and hatchback are 17 thousand rubles more expensive, the surcharge for a station wagon is 27 thousand. Considering the class of the car, the money is not that small. For example, for 25 thousand you can get a robotic gearbox instead of a mechanical one or take the next level of equipment. Therefore, when economy comes first, the sedan is in favor.

If the configurations and power units are identical, all that remains is to choose a car only based on the parameters of the luggage compartment. Let's turn to dry numbers. The most spacious will be the sedan, for which AVTOVAZ claims a volume of 500 liters, which increases to 815 liters with the rear seats folded down. In second place is the liftback: 435/750 hp. The station wagon turned out to be not quite a cargo vehicle. Due to the “cut off” stern, it loses in volume to the liftback, having only 360/675 liters. The last one is a hatchback. With a five-seat cabin configuration, only 240 liters remain for luggage. Folding the seat increases the volume to 555 liters. It seems like a point in favor of the sedan again, but only if you are sure that you will not need to transport large items.

Even a casual glance at any of the five-door Grants is enough to realize their advantages. The large opening of the fifth door, which rises along with the glass, allows you to load large items that cannot be crammed into a sedan. And the first place here should be given to the liftback. It has the most impressive opening and maximum trunk volume. So the sedan is the leader in displacement only on paper, but in real life there is no equal to the liftback.

Note that the VDA technique involves measuring volume along the window sill line. Neither the manufacturer nor we measure to the ceiling (no measuring cubes are enough). But we can assume that the leaders in terms of full load will be the liftback and station wagon. The sedan has an obvious disadvantage due to its limited horizontal trunk lid, and we write off the hatchback, again due to the short rear overhang.

Let's not forget about design, although, of course, it is secondary for many. But, in my opinion, the liftback is the most harmonious and beautiful Grant. In addition, after restyling, it was refined with a bumper cover in body color, adding originality.

As a result, the liftback is in the lead. A more expensive station wagon can justify its price with anything but trunk space. But more than that, he is no different from his brothers! It’s awkward to even discuss a hatchback at the same price. Well, unless you liked his appearance. And the savings on a sedan will come back to haunt you the first time you need to transport something bulky.
