Installation instructions

You can install the A8 alarm yourself if you have a little experience in installing such products.

The procedure is performed step by step as follows:

Think over the location of the elements and begin installing the wiring. You may first need to disassemble the lower part of the instrument panel and remove the protective cover on the steering column. Before starting installation, you must purchase an additional siren, which comes with the bracket.
Remove the wires from the battery terminals. If your car has airbags and a radio with a code, you must follow the instructions for the vehicle.
Connect the system wires to the ignition switch circuits. The connection point must be soldered and insulated with heat shrink tubing or electrical tape.
Connect the remaining power circuits in accordance with the diagram. When installing the system on used cars, it is recommended to call all the wires of the standard harnesses, since they may have been replaced during repairs.
Connect to the instrument cluster harnesses. These channels receive a signal from the tachometer or from the handbrake warning lamp. Connection to the tachometer is required to receive a signal during autostart and is done with a wire with gray-black insulation. An alternative option may be to connect the wire to the generator (the operation of the motor is determined by the appearance of a voltage of plus 12 volts).
Connect all other terminals of the central unit harness. When laying wires, you must ensure that they do not touch moving controls or rub against sharp edges of body panels.
Connect to the control module of the standard central locking. If the vehicle has a pneumatic lock drive, the connection is made to the compressor control unit.
Connect the wire to the brake lamp switch (on vehicles with manual transmission).
Connect the wiring harnesses to the power trunk lid lock terminal (if present) and the interior lighting system.
Connect the low beam headlight power supply circuit to the additional channel (if necessary). This function allows you to turn on the low beam when the system is deactivated and illuminate the road to the car.
If the system is used in automatic mode, a bypass for the standard immobilizer should be installed.
Install the main unit in the dashboard. It is attached to the frame using ties or metal screws. When installing, it is recommended to place the unit with the connectors facing down. You need to make sure that there is no water leaking inside the panel.
Connect the service and anti-robbery button harnesses to the block and bring them to places convenient for the driver and invisible to strangers. For connection, two two-pin connectors are used under the hinged cover. The diode is output either to the top of the panel or to the rack casing.
Mount the antenna module on the glass. To achieve maximum range, it is recommended to place it at a distance of at least 55 mm from metal frames. The module should not be located in the area of the air ducts of the microclimate system or in the area of direct sunlight. This is due to the presence of a temperature sensor in it, which, if the device is installed incorrectly, will show incorrect information. To connect the antenna, a cable with five contacts is used, which is placed on the main unit in the connector located under the hinged cover.
The siren is attached to the engine shield and installed with the horn facing down. The installation site should not be flooded with water while the vehicle is moving or parked. It is important to check that there is no access to the siren itself and its wiring from under the car. The cable to the siren must be laid at a maximum distance from the elements of the ignition system. This rule applies to all alarm harnesses.
Attach a sensor for measuring the impact force in the passenger compartment. It must be rigidly fixed to the metal panels, which will ensure its sensitivity. Adjustment is performed by rotating the built-in potentiometer. It must be remembered that when installing a part on plastic, the device may not operate correctly. A cable with four pins is used for connection.
Place additional “limit switches” under the hood and trunk lids. The sensors must work correctly, otherwise they will cause the majority of false alarms in the system.
Connect all elements with laid strands.
Connect power to the on-board network and test the operation of the system. If everything works correctly, then you can install the removed interior trim elements and program the unit. In case of errors in operation, you will need to check the correct installation.

The advantage of installing an alarm system in a car service center will be saving time, since do-it-yourself installation can take more than one day.

The instructions for Starline A8 contain the following information:

Below is a brief description of some points that are important when using Starline A8.

Setting up autorun

To configure and perform autostart, you need to set the “neutral” mode:

Stop the car, put the gearbox lever in neutral position.
Raise the brake lever up.
Remove the key from the lock and get out of the car, closing the door behind you.
Turn on the system using the K1 or K1D button. The motor will stop and be ready to start automatically.

The main key fob is used to start the engine. The start-up procedure is possible through the icon on the screen or through a long press on K1. In this case, the car must give a triple signal with a siren and external lamps. After a successful launch, three more flashes are given and the melody in the key fob is turned on. During operation, an icon and the remaining time until deactivation are displayed on the screen. When attempting to start, the starter operating time increases.

In addition, it is possible to automatically start based on a signal from a temperature sensor. In this case, the operating time of the motor and the temperature threshold are programmed in the central unit.

There are four options for setting the response threshold:

5ºС;
10ºС;
20ºС;
30ºС.

When setting up, you need to take into account that there are two restrictions on operation:

no more than six alarms are possible per day;
At least two hours must pass between two warm-ups.

To program a temperature start via the main key fob, you must:

Select the appropriate icon on the display and activate it by pressing the K2 button.
Wait for confirmation (one siren sound, a melody from the key fob buzzer and a short flashing of external lamps). The screen will indicate the icon of the enabled function and the temperature at which the starter will operate. In this case, the LED on the car will blink in series of three short periods.
If necessary, the function can be turned off using a similar scheme. Deactivation is confirmed by double signaling with sound and light devices.

When operating a vehicle, warm-up can be applied at a certain time; the setting is performed in the following steps:

Select the daily start mode icon and confirm by pressing K2.
The confirmation will be the same as when warming up by temperature. The difference will be the operation of the diode, which should blink in a series of two pulses, and another icon on the display.

During the programming process, you must be in the communication zone between the remote control and the car, since when the mode is activated, a start must occur. The warm-up time is specified in the unit settings. Each subsequent start will be performed after 24 hours until the mode is turned off or until the first unsuccessful start cycle. Disabling is done by placing the cursor on the icon and pressing K2 on the key fob.

If necessary, the motor operating time is extended by:

5;
10;
15;
20 minutes.

To do this, you need to select the corresponding symbol on the screen and activate it. The total operating time will be displayed on the key fob.

Common problems and their solutions

The design of the security complex includes a zone diagnostics unit when the security system is armed. If a malfunction is detected, a series of 4 siren signals is given, accompanied by a 4-fold flash of the lamps. The remote control display shows an open body element. After restoration of functionality, the zone automatically enters the security circuit, and the corresponding icon on the display goes out.

The reason for the failure of standard door locks is damage or jamming of the moving elements or failure of the fuse. Control key fobs

The car alarm performs its functions either automatically or by signals from the key fob when buttons are pressed. Part of the provided functions

and some system operating parameters can be changed by

programming.

The StarLine Twage car alarm has a 3-button control key fob with

liquid crystal display. Purpose of button 1 of the key fob

programmable. The purpose of key fob button 2 is selected quickly by moving the cursor on the key fob display using button 3. When you press the key fob buttons, the fluorescent backlight turns on for a few seconds

display.

When the car alarm executes a key fob command, the corresponding

information is displayed on the key fob display and a melodic sound is played

signal.

When the car alarm performs any actions automatically

the relevant information is also displayed on the key fob display and

accompanied by sound signals or vibration.

If more than one key fob is used to control the car alarm,

then the status of the car and car alarm will be displayed only on

display of the key fob from which the last command was issued.

In case of malfunction or loss of the main double-sided key fob

communication and LCD display, the system comes complete with

additional 4-button control key fob without feedback.

Most functions and operating modes of car alarms can be

activated from this key fob as well, but below are the operating instructions

written for the case of using the main LCD key fob

display.

Is it possible to restore settings after a factory reset?

It is necessary to disable the Starline security system only as a last resort.
After it is decided to reboot the alarm, all button settings return to the factory settings. The car is deprived of the turbo timer mode, start by clock or temperature, additional alarm functions and other parameters previously programmed with the keys. After the reset procedure, the owner will need to re-set all Starline car alarm tasks.

Modern car alarms are very different from older security systems. They are capable of not only protecting the car from theft, but also remotely starting and warming up the engine, reaching the set temperature, or starting it on a timer. But sometimes these functions may fail, so it is recommended to reset the Starline A91 to factory settings.

Unreasonable alarm activation;
failure to start the engine based on alarm, time or temperature. Or vice versa, the car may start on its own at the wrong time;
spontaneous locking or unlocking of the central lock;

Setting up autorun

Autostart of the alarm system is initially carried out by the installer using a personal PIN code, which is entered into the modular unit. At the first start, all settings specified by the manufacturer and possible adjustments are automatically saved in memory.

Troubleshooting

When the system is turned on, it automatically diagnoses the condition of components and circuits. If there are open doors, four warning lights and short beeps will be given. An icon of the problem unit will be displayed on the main key fob screen. After closing the element, it will be armed.

If it is impossible to quickly resolve the problem, the alarm bypasses this zone. If the breakdown is repaired spontaneously and the system is turned on, this zone is automatically armed.

The following problems may occur:

Dead batteries in the key fob. You should try to control the system using another remote control from the kit. If the system works, then the power supply needs to be replaced. If the problem does not go away, this indicates that the failure is related to the antenna module or the main unit.
If there are constant false alarms, it is necessary to adjust the sensitivity of the shock sensor.
If the locks do not close after turning on the system, then the problem may be blown fuses. It is necessary to check the condition of the circuits (for short circuits) and replace the fuse-links with products of the same rating.
Operational problems may be due to incorrect settings. The alarm can be reset to factory settings and reprogrammed.
An automatically started engine stalls after a few seconds of operation. At the same time, the motor functions normally with the key. To correct the problem, you need to check the additional blocking relay (if it is used in the circuit), the wiring connected to the tachometer, and re-teach the idle mode.
