The call is made, after which the driver is informed that the terminal testing was successful, the call and procedure are completed.

  6. Jam the signal with a special device powered by the cigarette lighter.   1. Triggering of the starting system. As a rule, this is either an alarm button that the driver pressed or automatic shock sensors. In any case, the system sends a signal about an accident to the call center. Since the installation uses mobile communications, the terminal itself selects the network with the best performance, making its request a priority.
  2. Checking information. This step is needed to filter out accidental button presses from real calls. The operator communicates with the car in voice mode through the terminal.

The operator is additionally informed about the VIN, number, type of fuel in the gas tank, license plate and color of the car.

The device receives a call from the SVEOS duty officer to clarify the circumstances of the emergency. This is not necessary when crossing the border, but in the future you will not be able to issue a technical passport, obtain license plates, register the car and sell it. If you bypass the official registration, you will not be able to drive such a car. You will have to call a tow truck, and then install the SOS button and the corresponding system.

With this in mind, it is easy to summarize which vehicles require the GLONASS ERA. After the system was introduced in 2013, the following changes were in effect:

  1. From January 1, 2015, cars that are tested for compliance with the requirements of the regulations.
  2. After January 1, 2016 - vehicles used for passenger and freight transportation and produced in the territory of the Customs Union countries.
  3. From the beginning of 2017 - all cars that are put into circulation in the CU states, as well as for used cars imported from abroad.

For the last point, in the first case, installing GLONASS ERA is mandatory for the manufacturer, and in the second case, for the owner of the vehicle. In this case, the terminal must be installed and the button mounted at a specialized service.

For legal entities and individual entrepreneurs carrying out paid transportation of passengers with a number of 8 or more passengers (excluding the driver), there was a requirement to install ERA GLONASS. This requirement was mandatory, but was temporarily suspended until the beginning of 2022.

Is it possible to disable the module?

The system is designed in such a way that it cannot be blocked or disabled. Any interference with the operation of the device will be regarded as changes to the design of the vehicle, which is fraught with penalties.

There are many questions about the work of ERA Glonass. Today it is still impossible to say how effective the system is - the first results will be obtained at the end of 2022. However, if with its help it is possible to save several human lives, then the project was worth it.
