1) Corrosion. This is a really common disease of Shniv bodies, since only a part of the parts were galvanized at the factory, and even then of poor quality. Rust, even in 5-6 year old cars, can be found in the area of ​​chips - hood, fenders, side members. And the most problematic places remain the rear wings and arches.

Breakdowns and repairs that I had over 7 years and 100,000 km. mileage

This is what I especially remember. The most expensive, unexpected and unpleasant repair was the replacement of the piston group at 72,000 km. Nobody told me exactly the reason, but according to my guesses, the reason was excess pressure in the cooling system, since shortly before that I replaced a leaky heater radiator, and a little later, after, the main radiator. This repair cost me about 33,000 rubles, which is very sad. Then people who knew about engines told me that most likely I was just scammed out of money. Well, maybe so, although I went to this service for many years and even on my previous car. In general, even if they got divorced, then a lot of water has flown under the bridge since then, and let it remain on their conscience.

I would like to say a few words about the generators, of which I have already replaced two. Generators are standard 80A. The next time I replace it, I will probably install a more powerful one. Failure in both cases follows the same scenario: heat, traffic jam, continuous operation of the air conditioner for more than 15-20 minutes. After that, I try not to touch the air conditioner at all, and if I turn it on, it’s with caution.

The pump, radiators, muffler and clutch took quite a lot of time before they were replaced. For example, I changed the original Valeo clutch at 99,000 km. at Sachs. We can say that it was in a planned manner, since after analysis it turned out that it could still be similar. But I decided to replace it anyway, since 100,000 km. for the Chevrolet Niva clutch the mileage is borderline.

As for consumables, I try to change them myself. The axles and gearboxes contain Mobil mineral water, and the engine contains Mobil 5W40 synthetic. The oil in the axles and gearboxes was changed twice, including TO-0 at 3000 km, that is, after break-in. Engine oil change every 10,000 km.

Last year, a strong oil burn began, I had to pour about a liter per 1000 km, or even more. In general, it’s not a big deal at all. I contacted one service center about this, and without even looking at it, they predicted the quick demise of the engine and offered to make a capital investment for 50,000 rubles. Naturally, I immediately turned around and left. I went to another service center and they changed the valve stem seals. Maslozhor passed over the next 10,000 km. I didn't even add half a liter of oil. But another problem arose - at idle the engine began to run very unevenly, as if it was throttling. This, I must say, was quite annoying. After several months of smoking forums, visiting diagnosticians, offering to remove the head, etc., I stopped by a guy who flushed the fuel system with Wynns, connecting directly to the ramp.

To be honest, I am quite skeptical about all sorts of flushes and nano-chemicals, but this was already done out of desperation, since the constant convulsions of the engine had already taken out all the nerves. The guy assured me that the Wynns miracle product cleans everything: injectors, carbon deposits in the cylinders, and even the catalyst. Of course, I didn’t believe it, but I took the risk. Well, Wynns helped or it was just an accident, but in the very first days after the wash I didn’t recognize the car. The engine fluttering went away, and it even started driving somehow differently. This is the story. On his advice, now I try to refuel only with Neste and only 95 gasoline, however, I refueled it with it from the very beginning, it simply won’t go at 92.

I don’t keep accurate records of repair costs, but according to rough estimates, over the entire 7 years of ownership, no more than 150,000 rubles (or maybe less) were spent on all repairs, perhaps even including all consumables. In my opinion, taking into account the period, the amount is very insignificant.
