Lubrication of the internal components of the gearbox directly affects the operation of the unit. Therefore, car manufacturers recommend that car owners change the fluid on time and use only high-quality lubricant. In this article we will tell you how much oil is in a Nissan Tiida automatic transmission and how to change the working fluid in a garage.

[Hide]

When is an oil change required?

According to official regulations, changing the working fluid in Nissan Tiida 2008, 2010, 2011, 2013 and other years of production should be carried out after a mileage of 60 thousand kilometers. This rule applies regardless of the place where a particular car is assembled, be it Russia, Asia, Mexico or America. If the interval is not observed, this will lead to the fact that the working substance will lose its properties and will not be able to perform its functions. Difficulties will arise with shifting gears, the box will begin to vibrate, especially when starting in cold conditions. Extraneous noises and sounds may also appear, in some cases the liquid smells like burning.

Regulations

According to official data, the transmission fluid in a Nissan Tiida is replaced every 60 thousand kilometers. But practice shows that such an indicator can be considered only conditionally relevant, since the replacement period sometimes has to be shortened under the influence of climatic conditions. So, if in European countries with favorable road and weather conditions, you can still rely on 60 thousand kilometers, then in harsh realities it is better to reduce the regulations by half or one and a half times - for safety reasons. In addition, this will give you more confidence that the oil will not spoil before the allotted time. But this is quite possible if the car enthusiast constantly encounters the following factors:

  • Temperature changes, sudden climate change (frost gives way to thaw, mud and slush on the roads, “salty winters”)
  • Bad and dusty roads, frequent off-road driving, including on muddy ground after rain

In addition, the situation becomes even more complicated if the owner himself makes mistakes while driving the car. For example, he allows himself to deliberately jerk the car not only during such tests, but also constantly exceeds the speed, and thereby violates traffic rules. In addition, incorrect operation of the clutch and gearbox is possible, as a result of which the parts overheat and gradually fail, causing various breakdowns. But for the sake of fairness, it must be said that owners have to subject the car to high loads, including exceeding speed, etc. After all, they often have no other choice, given difficult weather and road factors. But it should be borne in mind that in such conditions the oil change period should be reduced to 40-45 thousand kilometers. In addition to more frequent oil changes, it is also strongly recommended to frequently monitor the volume and condition of consumables.

Which oil is better to take?

Now let’s look at what kind of transmission oil should be poured into the automatic transmission. For automatic transmissions, the manufacturer recommends using the original fluid - ATF Matic Fluid J. This lubricant is developed using Slip Lock-Up technology.

Original lubricant for Nissan Tiida gearbox

Technical characteristics of the original:

  • the density value is 865;
  • the kinematic viscosity parameter varies between 7.39-33.39 when the engine temperature decreases from 100 to 40 degrees;
  • viscosity varies within 168;
  • ignition of the working substance will occur when the engine overheats to 246 degrees;
  • loss of viscosity characteristics is possible at an air temperature of -50 degrees.

If the vehicle is equipped with a transmission lock system, the manufacturer recommends using ATF Matic Fluid D lubricant.

First generation (2004 – 2014)

Four-speed automatic transmission (1.5L)

  • Original gear oil used at the factory: semi-synthetic
  • Recommended Transmission Fluid Specifications: Dexron III
  • Lubricant volume in the gearbox: 7.7 l.
  • Oil change interval: 50 thousand - 100 thousand km.

Four-speed automatic transmission (1.6L)

  • Original gear oil used at the factory: semi-synthetic
  • Recommended Transmission Fluid Specifications: Dexron III
  • Lubricant volume in the gearbox: 7.7 l.
  • Oil change interval: 50 thousand - 100 thousand km.

Checking the level and required volume

Before replacing, it is necessary to check the level of the working substance. If the lubricant volume is below normal, the gearbox should be checked for leaks. If the level is higher, computer diagnostics of the unit is performed.

How to check the oil volume in a Nissan Tiida automatic transmission (whether “Mexican”, “Japanese” or “American”):

  1. Start the engine.
  2. Perform a visual check of the transmission unit for leaks.
  3. Stop the car on a level surface. Pull the parking brake lever.
  4. The gearbox selector must be switched to each mode in turn. Lock the lever in position P.
  5. Remove the transmission dipstick and wipe it dry with a rag. Lint rags should not be used.
  6. Install the meter into the hole until it stops.
  7. Remove the dipstick and check the amount of lubricant. On a cold engine, the fluid level should be at the COLD mark. Warm up the power unit to operating temperature and check the level again. On a warmed-up internal combustion engine, the lubricant volume should be at the NOT mark.

To change the lubricant in the system, about 7.7 liters of fluid will be required.

The video from the PRO100Super channel provides detailed instructions for changing the working fluid in the Tiida box.

List of works during maintenance 2 (30,000 km)

All work required by the TO-2 regulations is repeated every 30 thousand kilometers or 24 months. Therefore, in addition to the basic work listed in TO-1, the following are also performed:

  1. Replacing the air filter. The original has Nissan catalog number 1654630P00, price 350 rubles. It is also allowed to use: 16546ED000 (price 520 rub.), 16546ED500 (price 300 rub.), A6546ED00MVA (500 rub.) or other suitable ones.

After all the necessary replacements, you also need to check the condition of the suspension, exhaust system, brake booster components, fuel line and steering system.

Oil change options

As part of the repair and maintenance of the Tiida Latio, the car owner has two options for changing the working fluid in the box. This can be a complete or partial replacement. The implementation of the first option is possible only with the help of specialized equipment. A complete oil change allows you to completely get rid of used fluid, flush the transmission system and refill with fresh lubricant. It requires expensive and complex equipment, so it is carried out at a service station. The total oil volume in the Nissan Tiida automatic transmission is 10 liters.

To partially change the lubricant, simply drain and pour new lubricant into the gearbox. Due to the design features of the vehicle, the car owner will be able to drain only part of the consumables. The rest of it will remain in the torque converter, clutch system and other components. Sometimes such a replacement can lead to malfunctions in the transmission. When changing the fluid, it is recommended to change the filter device, but it is not always possible to do this. The filter replacement procedure is labor-intensive and requires the use of special tools. It is better to entrust this matter to specialists.

CVT Nissan Tiida

Judging by the reviews of experienced car owners, Idemitsu CVT Type N gear oil is best suited for the Nissan CVT gearbox. At the same time as the lubricating fluid, it is recommended to replace the pan gasket, as well as the fine filter.

Idemitsu CVT Type N synthetic material is designed for Jatco continuously variable transmissions. This oil fully meets the requirements of car manufacturers, thanks to its excellent technical characteristics and increased performance. It contains a large number of special additives that help maintain the viscosity indicator over a long period.

When using this material, increased smoothness is noted when changing gears. Idemitsu CVT Type N oil is not subject to oxidative processes and retains its beneficial properties even with sudden changes in ambient temperature.

DIY oil change

Below we will look at how to replace the lubricant in a Tiida gearbox yourself.

The Look and Do channel suggests in its video that you familiarize yourself with the procedure for independently replacing the working fluid in a Nissan gearbox.

Required Tools

To complete the task you need to prepare:

  • a container into which you will drain the used lubricant;
  • wrench 19;
  • fresh oil of original production;
  • gloves;
  • watering can;
  • jack;
  • a new filter device if you decide to replace it;
  • sealing gasket for the pallet.

Step-by-step instruction

How the change procedure is performed:

  1. The vehicle warms up and is then driven into a garage with a pit or onto an overpass. If this is not possible, then you need to jack up the rear of the car.
  2. If it is necessary to replace the filter device, the bolts securing the pan are unscrewed. The filter itself is located behind it. If a partial change of lubricant is performed, it is not necessary to change the filter device.
  3. After this, you need to place a container under the drain hole where you will drain the lubricant. You can use a trimmed bottle of the appropriate size. Using a 19mm wrench, loosen the bolt that acts as the drain plug. We recommend wearing gloves before unscrewing it. Unscrew the plug completely.
  4. The process of draining the working fluid will begin. Measure exactly how much grease has left the system. The same amount of fluid must be poured into the transmission.
  5. After draining the used lubricant, reinstall the cover.
  6. Remove the dipstick from the filler hole and install a watering can or funnel into it. Fill the gearbox with new lubricant.
  7. Reinstall the lubricant level meter. Start the power unit and wait about five minutes.
  8. Turn on all modes one by one by moving the selector and holding it in each position for a few seconds.
  9. After this, check the lubricant level in the gearbox again. After manipulating the selector, some of the liquid will disperse throughout the system faster. Therefore, you may need to add lubricant.

Transmission oil, automatic transmission Nissan Tiida 1.6 RE4F03A (4 gears)

As we said above, the Nissan Tiida line received a time-tested 4-speed hydromechanical automatic RE4F03A. On these models, it works exclusively with a 1.6-liter gasoline engine producing 110 horsepower. And the transmission fluid in this automatic transmission, according to the recommendation of Nissan, is selected according to the Matic Fluid D approval. Accordingly, you have a choice between the original Nissan Matic Fluid D oil and its analogues, for example, GULF Multi-Vehicle ATF and Neste ATF Multi.

Consequences of untimely replacement

When using low-quality fluid, the lubricant is not able to provide high-quality lubrication of all structural elements of the gearbox. This leads to rapid wear of bearings and other devices. Wear products clog the lines of the lubrication system, which causes an increase in pressure. Because of this, the sealing gaskets are squeezed out and wear out faster, which leads to leakage of lubricant. Prolonged operation of the transmission with a lack of oil causes unit failure.

What are the signs when it is necessary to pay attention to diagnosing the level and condition of the lubricant:

  1. The transmission takes longer to warm up. Due to poor quality lubrication, the substance passes more slowly through the channels of the transmission system.
  2. Difficulties may arise when shifting the automatic transmission lever. The driver needs to put in more effort to switch to one mode or another.
  3. The appearance of vibrations in the selector area. This is a bad sign, since such problems often lead to broken torque converters.
  4. The emergence of new sounds and noises. There are several signs here. Noises may only appear at first, when the engine is running and the gearbox has not yet warmed up. Sometimes they disappear as the units warm up. Also, sounds may be present constantly and not disappear, or appear directly when switching modes.

How much to fill

At the end of the article, we will determine the optimal volume of oil to be poured into the Nissan Tiida automatic transmission. So, the 4-speed automatic transmission JF404E requires 7.5 liters of consumables. The specified volume is filled after draining the old oil, as well as cleaning the gearbox from various deposits, including metal shavings. Cleaning can be done using a flushing agent that is circulated throughout the automatic transmission with the engine running. Then the used flushing is removed from the box, after which 7.5 liters of liquid are poured. Its level is adjusted to normal using a dipstick.

Nissan Tiida variator oil RE0F10A/RE0F11A(JF011E/JF015E)

Earlier Nissan Tiida models received a variable gearbox modification RE0F10A, running on oil with CVT NS-2 approval. More recent models of this model range were equipped with a modernized RE0F11A automatic transmission, which prefers transmission fluid with CVT NS-3 approval when operating. Accordingly, you can fill these CVT oils with both original Nissan CVT NS-2 and Nissan CVT NS-3 oils, as well as their analogues Molygreen CVT and ZIC CVT MULTI and others.
