VAZ 2110 is a domestically produced front-wheel drive sedan. Each of the automobile industry cars has its own set of characteristics and demand in the country’s automobile market. VAZ 2110 is no exception to this rule. The creation and design work on this model began back in 1983. The car was supposed to enter the markets as a modified model 2108. Based on the model, they began to design and manufacture a completely new car. And here it is - VAZ 2110. Then the manufacturers released several more models. One of them is the VAZ 2110 Premier.

Dimensions of the VAZ 2110 car

The VAZ 2110 car was produced from 1995 to 2007.
This sedan was created on the basis of the Lada 2108 hatchback. The dimensions of the VAZ 2110 differ slightly from the overall dimensions of the 21099 model. In particular, the length of the VAZ 2110 is only 6 cm longer than the length of the only sedan from the Lada Samara model range. The length of the wheelbase is 3.2 cm longer, the height of the car is 1.8 cm, and the ground clearance of the loaded “ten” is 5 cm higher than that of the ninety-ninth. The front and rear wheel tracks of these sedans are the same. The same engines and gearboxes were installed on both cars.

However, despite all this, the technical characteristics of cars 2110 and 21099 are somewhat different. Despite its greater weight, the VAZ 2110 develops a higher maximum speed and shows better maneuverability thanks to smooth body lines and more advanced control systems. Undoubtedly, the VAZ 2110 is the best car produced at the Volzhsky Automobile Plant in the 90s.

As noted above, the 2110 sedan turned out to be wider, taller, longer and heavier than the cars of the base family. This happened thanks to the desire of the designers of the Volzhsky Automobile Plant to increase the space in the car interior and increase comfort for the driver and passengers.

Thanks to the increase in the wheelbase and the width of the body, the car has become much more spacious; the semi-recumbent driver's seat, so characteristic of the Lada Samara family, has become a thing of the past; there is more space for passengers sitting in the back. The 110 family became the mother family for the premium Priora model. Overall dimensions of VAZ 2110:

It is worth noting that ground clearance is based on 13-inch wheels with 175/70 tires, or 14-inch wheels with 175/65 tires. When using other wheels or tires, the ground clearance will be different.

Features of VAZ Premier

VAZ 2110 Premier, shown in the photo, was produced in small series. Several dozen of these cars are produced in Togliatti. Assembly is carried out only upon order.


The VAZ 2110 Premier is an extended VAZ 2110. However, the body is not made from cut-up bodies from the “ten”, but is assembled using a completely original set of spare parts. When creating the project, the designers took into account and took some measures to add additional rigidity to the longer body.

To begin with, the structure of the car floor was strengthened. The model is painted in the same place as the VAZ 2110. The Premier is assembled, as already mentioned, to order. For an additional fee, you can install additional accessories on the car, such as power steering, leather upholstery or air conditioning. The VAZ 2110 Premier has an extended (by 175 mm) wheelbase. The dimensions have increased just as much, and with them the ability for car passengers to sit more comfortably.

The model's suspension is more rigid than that of the sedan, as the weight of the car has increased by as much as 65 kg. The rear springs here are similar to those installed on the 2111 station wagon. As for engines, the model is equipped with the most common 1.5-liter engines with 16 valves. But new ones can also be installed - 1.8 liters from the VAZ 21128. This is a modification of the 16-valve engine installed in the VAZ 2112. Engineers managed to significantly increase the working volume.

The car has increased traction characteristics at low speeds. This engine is well suited for the city. True, today carburetor engines are inferior to new ones with an injection system and electronic control. This model is equipped with Opel engines. This made it possible to make the model transitional between a traditional sedan and an executive car. Today you can order a Premier with an Opel engine, the price is quite reasonable. The car can be supplied in any configuration, even luxury.

Owner reviews state that the engine in this model is good. There is an opportunity to significantly save on fuel. This became possible due to the more aerodynamic body shape, which the station wagon cannot boast of. By the way, aerodynamic tests took place at Porsche factories.

In turn, the improvement of these characteristics entailed changes in the design of the transmission. In the first three gears, synchronizers are installed in the box, the secondary shaft is significantly strengthened, and Swedish-made bearings are used. These nodes have significant reserves. Due to its extended wheelbase, the car's handling has significantly improved. Roll levels have decreased, and thanks to the suspension, handling of the VAZ 2101 Premier has become significantly better.

In technical terms, the VAZ-2110 was a sedan based on the VAZ-2108 hatchback platform. That is, the suspension, brakes, chassis, and steering of the cars are similar in design. But the “ten” also received a number of innovations, which in the 80s, when the car was being developed, were revolutionary for our automobile industry. This included fuel injection and electronic engine control, a diagnostic on-board computer, and it was possible to install power steering and power windows. Galvanized elements appeared in the body structure, and painting technology was very advanced for that time. Unfortunately, the model was launched into mass production only in 1996, when all this was already pretty outdated. Below are more detailed technical characteristics of the VAZ-2110.

The next interesting engine of the Lada-110 was the injection 8-valve engine VAZ-2111 (1.5 l.) with fuel injection and electronic control, a little later the VAZ-2114 (1.6 l.) appeared. This was a serious step by AvtoVAZ into a new era of engine building. Essentially, this is the same carburetor engine, but with injection, which added a little power to the engine and made it more economical and environmentally friendly. Today, this engine, after some modernization and a change in the index (VAZ-11183), can be found on the Grant, Kalina, and Priora models.

Another important milestone was the appearance of a 16-valve injection engine. Two versions were created. The first VAZ-2112 with a displacement of 1.5 liters and the next VAZ-21124 engine with a displacement of 1.6 liters. The latter has also survived to this day and is installed on modern Lada models. As a result of the modernization of the VAZ-21124 engine, a motor with the index 21126 with a power of 98 hp appeared. and 21127 with 106 hp.

Brand history

The work to create the 2110 began to require huge changes in the design and architecture of the car and led to the fact that production became significantly more expensive. As a result of developments, the VAZ 2108 was modified into 21099. The first car created according to the VAZ 2110 project appeared in 1985. This was a prototype. In November 1987, the first photographs of the new car began to appear in the press. It was supposed to go into mass production very soon. However, the country was overtaken by economic problems, and then the release was completely postponed.

The “ten” entered mass production only in 1991. By the way, this is the only car that does not and never had its own name. However, this is the most popular model among car enthusiasts. The production of the VAZ 2110 sedan was launched at the Volzhsky Automobile Plant in the summer of 1995. The VAZ 2111 station wagon appeared three years later. The VAZ 2110 family of models has three types of body styles. By the standards of the domestic auto industry, this is a real exorbitant luxury.

But while marketers were promoting the VAZ 2110, the technologies used in the automotive industry were progressing significantly. Therefore, in 1996, the once modern and technologically advanced car lost its gloss and charm. However, it was the sedan that became a real sign of the owner’s respectability. After all, this is not a station wagon, which was popular at that time. This may explain the high demand for the VAZ 2110.

Versions and price of VAZ 2110

Today to buy a new VAZ 2110 , although it will be called “Bogdan 2110”, but in essence it is the same car. The price of a 2110 with an 8-valve engine is just over 280,000 rubles. The price of a 2110 with a 16-valve engine today is just over 300,000 rubles. You can buy a used “ten” assembled in Togliatti without any problems, just go to the free classifieds website. There are a huge variety of these cars, of any technical condition and appearance.

It is worth recalling that along with the 2110 sedan, the 2112 hatchback and 2111 station wagon were produced. In addition, a three-door version of the VAZ-21123 was also produced on the basis of the five-door hatch. There are quite a few three-door hatchbacks, but if you look on the secondary market, you can buy something like a sports VAZ.

VAZ 21108 Premier is a small-scale production car, which was produced by Tolyatti together with AvtoVAZ. The model was produced in limited quantities (up to 20 copies per month).

Basically, they were produced by order of government organizations. 21108 Premier – sedan with an extended wheelbase. Externally, the car looks like a regular “ten”, but upon first inspection it becomes immediately clear that 21108 has an original (rounded) roof and slightly longer rear doors. The developers also increased the rigidity of the entire body (a special reinforcement is installed behind the rear seats), so the model has greater cross-country ability. In addition to increased rigidity and body size, the car is equipped with: additional sound insulation, high-quality trunk and door trim, power window control keys built into the door handles, and additional interior lighting. All this could not affect the comfort for the driver and especially for passengers. Moreover, compared to the classic ten, the clearance between the rear and front seats has been increased from 235 to 375 mm.

But the main trump card and highlight of this model is manual assembly, which ensures high quality. To order, the car was equipped with 1.5 or 1.6 liters. engine model 21124, power steering, air conditioning, sunroof, leather interior. Production of the VAZ 21108 Premier model began in 1999. Since then, it has not changed until the assembly line for dozens has become history.

Design

Rendering images published by the designer reveal a rather unexpected car. The presented Lada 110 retained many of the design solutions inherent in its predecessor. In particular, the general outlines of the body remained the same. However, the designer added a few stampings, made some of the exterior details sharper and increased the size of some components. Because of this, the new Lada 2110 2021-2022 looks like an outdated and modern car at the same time.

In comparison with the classic “Ten”, the most pronounced changes occurred in the front part of the body. Having borrowed the support pillars and windshield from its predecessor, the presented model received a new embossed hood along which deep folds run. The designer equipped the Lada 2110 with different head optics. It has become larger in comparison with the first version of the “Ten” and has been replenished with C-shaped LED strips surrounding blocks with round lights. Because of this, the direction indicators have moved further onto the wheel fenders.

The second remarkable detail that distinguishes the new “Ten” is the radiator grille, which was borrowed from Datsun models. It is made in the form of a wide polygon, the inner part of which is filled with horizontal slats protruding forward.

The presented Lada 2110 also acquired a completely new front bumper, designed in a sporty style. It contains a fairly large central air intake, flanked by wide niches with fog lights and ventilation holes. On top of them stretches a curving protrusion, forming a kind of visor. The developer has integrated a black plastic insert into it, as well as into the side cutouts.

On the side of the body of the new Lada 110 2021-2022 it is difficult to identify details that differ from what was on the classic “Ten”. However, the stern, which retained the same shape, has changed dramatically. First of all, the developer made it sharper by introducing several clearly defined details. On top of the tailgate he attached a developed spoiler, under which there is another one.

The rear lights of the new “Ten” have become more “rough” and have acquired an irregular shape. The rear bumper also now has clearly defined edges, whereas on the classic Lada 110 it had a rounded configuration. In the rear body kit, the developer placed a black plastic trim, with 2 cutouts at the bottom. One of them is intended for the exhaust pipe.
