The new Lada Grants of the 2018 model year are officially presented to the general public at the Moscow Motor Show. The Russian manufacturer abandoned the “Kalina” brand and renamed the hatchback and station wagon Granta. That is, now the entire line of AvtoVAZ models of related design will be sold under one name. If technically the models already had a common platform, engines, suspension, transmission and chassis, now they were also unified externally.
The exterior of all 5 types of the new Grant body for the 2022 model year received its own X-style, which previously only Lada Vesta and XRay could boast of. It turned out pretty good. The car began to look more modern and advanced. The sedan received the most changes. It is the Grant sedan that is the best-selling, so the maximum possible changes have been made for it. New bumpers, headlights, a radiator grille and chrome “boomerangs” appeared to highlight the new style of the Lada.
On the side there are significant changes, the same doors from Kalina from the first generation. But at the back, they did some pretty serious work to change the design. New bumpers appeared, from which the license plate niche disappeared. The trunk lid has a complex shape. On top there is a special stamping resembling a spoiler. A niche has appeared for the license plate and new bending lines. In general, the trunk lid can now be called a tinsmith’s “dream”, since it will be quite difficult to correct such complex shapes after an accident. Photos of Lada Granta sedan are attached.

In the interior of the Lada Granta liftback, a more solid front panel appeared, which migrated from the Kalina along the way, receiving a number of changes. The new radio with a monochrome display is the head unit of the center console. But the first thing the driver will see is a completely different instrument panel. The tachometer and speedometer are framed by a bright orange dial, and in the middle there is a monochrome on-board computer screen. In principle, it was present before, but now the screen has increased in size and a different backlight has appeared. But that’s not all, because now the driver will feel a new seat with increased lateral support and a function for changing the seat height. Technical characteristics of Lada Granta liftback
The new Lada Granta liftback body has remained virtually unchanged in size. One can only note an increase in the overall length by 4 mm due to other bumpers. The width and height are the same. There are no changes in the size of the wheelbase.
As for the manual transmission, the manufacturer announced an optimization of the manual transmission design, an increase in the gear ratio of the main pair from 3.7 to 3.9, plus the gearbox will make less noise and unnecessary vibrations will disappear. Do you think that Avtovaz engineers do not know about the problems of the car. They know, but introducing innovations in mass production is not so easy. Restyling is a great opportunity to correct flaws. In addition to mechanics, a 4-speed automatic transmission and robotic AMT will be available.
The engines of the budget liftback retained their volume of 1.6 liters and the same power. The VAZ-11186 8-valve unit produces 87 hp. The 16-valve VAZ-21127 develops 106 horsepower. Another 16-valve engine, which is paired with a 4-band automatic transmission, will produce 98 hp. It would seem that the engines are the same - 4 cylinders with distributed injection, a cast iron block and a timing belt. But here too the manufacturer has prepared a surprise. To replace the old pistons with flat bottoms, new ones with recesses for the valves will be installed in the engines. This design of the pistons will avoid serious engine damage in the event of a timing belt break. True, it is still unknown when such engines will be installed under the hood of the new product.

The brand new Lada Granta 2022-2023 is presented on the Internet: still cheap, but no longer AvtoVAZ
Insiders close to AvtoVAZ shared information on the new Lada Granta model, which should appear on the domestic market before 2025. The new product can enter the market in two body styles at once: sedan and hatchback. But what is known about the design of Granta 2022-2023? It is assumed that it can become a complete copy of the Renault Logan in the second generation. And there are several reasons for this.
First of all, we need to remind you that Renault is already actively testing Logan III in Russia. In addition, French cars are now assembled at AvtoVAZ production facilities. It is worth noting that a corresponding video has already been released on the new Lada Granta 2022-2023 on our Youtube channel Naavtotrasse.ru. Thus, the domestic manufacturer will not upgrade the production line for the new Granta. This will keep the price tag for the model at the same level (in the database it will cost about 550 thousand rubles). The third reason is a statement by representatives of AvtoVAZ and Renault. The French concern will soon unify the model range of the Lada and Dacia brands, and the debut model on the Russian market could be the new Granta. This approach will allow the Russian brand not only to keep the price of the popular model at the same level, but also to update it without large financial costs.
It is assumed that the next generation of the domestic “state employee” will be released on the Dacia M0 platform, and not the CMF-B, as previously expected. Based on this, we can assume that visually the new Granta will be as close as possible to Logan II. At the same time, it can be assumed that AvtoVAZ will still work a little on the design of another Grant so that it looks more modern than the French “co-platform”. Thus, the model will become even more popular on the market, and its advantages will include a “tenacious” suspension that can withstand colossal loads.
With the transition to a new platform, the Russian model may change for the better in terms of driving characteristics and handling. Also, unification with the “French” will make the Lada Granta 2022-2023 easier and more accessible to maintain.
Despite all of the above, you should not count on the appearance of the same power units in the new Granta as in the Logan II. The new product will definitely not have a 1.0-liter engine with 73 and 90 hp. Most likely, preference will be given to the engines that Logan is equipped with in the current generation, since they have proven themselves well during long-term operation. In addition, it should be mentioned that AvtoVAZ, despite the transfer of the entire model range to the French platform, will not abandon its own engines.
Thus, we can assume that Granta in the new generation will retain the same 1.6-liter internal combustion engine with the same performance. It is possible that some modifications will also feature a 1.6-liter Nissan engine with an output of 113 hp. In this case, in addition to the manual transmission, the new product will also be equipped with a variator. The Granta's suspension will be comparable to the Logan II, with MacPherson struts at the front and a torsion beam at the rear. This simple design allows for minimal maintenance costs.
In terms of dimensions, the Russian model will not change significantly. The length will not exceed 4.3 m. The hatchback model will also boast a similar configuration. It is unlikely that Granta will acquire a digital instrument cluster, but we can assume that cruise control will be added to the equipment in the top version.
