Over the 10 months of 2022, 93.1 thousand Lada Vesta cars were sold in Russia.
This model has already surpassed the Lada Granta in terms of sales volumes, and together these cars are the most purchased on our market, confidently leaving behind the Kia Rio and Hyundai Solaris. It is interesting that the new Vesta is being chosen more and more often today, despite the upcoming restyling: according to AvtoVAZ’s plan, serial assembly of Lada Vesta FL cars of the 2022 model year should start in the coming March, which, although they will not change technically, will acquire new body parts and a redesigned interior.

All restyling changes

The list of improvements for the Lada Vesta 2022 includes new LED optics (front and rear), a modified bumper group and a completely new front panel in the cabin, where a virtual “tidy” and a vertical display of the multimedia system will appear.

Another interesting new feature will be the climate settings panel, which will be borrowed from Renault Arcana. Three rotating knobs with small built-in screens perfectly complement the appearance, where, as befits a modern car, there are fewer and fewer physical controls.

The updated car was spotted more than once during tests in Tolyatti, Surgut and Sochi, from where a lot of spy photos were obtained. All of them confirm that the Lada Vesta FL 2022 model year will not please with an evolutionary design, but will only change the bumpers, receive more modern LED optics, and acquire door handles with contactless access sensors.

Of course, not a single restyling is complete without changing the design of the false radiator grille and wheel rims, since such a replacement on the assembly line is the easiest and cheapest to do. Unlike the exterior, the interior of the LADA Vesta 2021-2022 has been significantly redesigned. On the front panel there is a vertical touch screen of a multimedia system in the style of Tesla electric vehicles.

The restyled Lada Vesta has acquired a revised dashboard: an additional digital display has appeared between the speedometer and tachometer dials. The center console is completely redesigned, and the climate control unit with three washers and backlight is borrowed from the Renault Arkana.

Representatives of AvtoVAZ have repeatedly said that the updated Lada Vesta FL of the 2022 model year will not receive any improvements in terms of technology, but some sources talk about the appearance of another modification of the 1.8-liter VAZ engine in the engine range - with 136 hp. With.

How much will it cost

The price tag of a car is influenced by many factors, including all changes and the cost of competitors. The current Vesta is cheaper than its Korean rivals Solaris and Rio, but more expensive than Logan.

A competent distribution of equipment will help maintain a balance between equipment and price. It is unlikely that the basic versions of Vesta FL will rise in price by more than 100 thousand rubles. At this time, you can expect an increase of up to 150-200 thousand from top performances.

A regular sedan today can be bought at prices ranging from 723,900 to 1,058,900 rubles. The off-road version with the Cross prefix costs 871,900-1,091,900 “wooden”. In addition to Vesta sedans, AvtoVAZ produces SW versions - passenger 5-seater station wagons, as well as SW Cross - five-seat all-terrain station wagons. In the case of pre-reform cars, these models differ primarily in dimensions: the length of the SW Cross is 140 mm. more than regular SW; the width is 210 mm larger, and the height is 250 mm larger. All this is a consequence of the presence of a plastic body kit, while the body dimensions, interior capacity and trunk volume are the same for these modifications.

On the chassis, the Vesta SW Cross has an improved suspension, which maintains the stability of the car on the road (necessary due to the increased ground clearance to 203 mm). At the same time, ground clearance is increased due to larger 17-inch wheels. In terms of interior, both versions are practically no different, except for the bright colored inserts present in the SW Cross trim, LED interior lighting and the “Cross” logo on the dashboard.

The date of March 1, when the conveyor assembly of serial Lada Vesta FL 2022 should begin, was designated by the manufacturer a long time ago. Dealers also continue to focus on it, having already set quotas for new cars that should arrive in showrooms in April.

However, the latest news hints at possible delays: at the Izhevsk plant they are talking about problems with the supply of electric chips, which could force AvtoVAZ to postpone the release of new cars. At the same time, the company has already begun assembling the first pilot batches: 8 cars rolled off the assembly line - sedans and station wagons Lada Vesta FL and Vesta FL SW in the maximum configuration. Thus, the manufacturer is trying to fully debug all technological processes, and after the first pilot batch, at least one more is planned - for 6 cars.

Review

As a result of restyling, the model received a new, more prominent front bumper, all-LED optics, including headlights, lanterns and fog lights.

The design of the radiator grille will be different: in standard versions it is crossed by two chrome moldings, which visually make the car wider and squat, while in Cross versions the grille has a coarse honeycomb pattern.

The model also has a new rear bumper with massive false exhaust pipes, an updated trunk lid (in both body types), as well as 16- and 17-inch wheels of a new design.

The overall length of the sedan increased from 4410 to 4440 millimeters, height - 1496 mm in the body and 1498 mm in the antenna (minus 1 mm and plus 1 mm relative to the pre-restyling version). The wheelbase is 2635 mm.

The Vesta SW 2023 station wagon has the same length and width as the sedan, but the height is greater - 1500 mm for the body, 1510 mm for the roof rails and 1525 mm for the antenna. The outgoing station wagon had a height of 1497 mm for the body and 1520 mm for the antenna.

The restyled Cross sedan and station wagon have an overall length of 4445 mm (+21 mm). The width remains the same - 1785 mm. The height of the cross-sedan is 1522 mm in the body and 1526 mm in the antenna, in the cross-station wagon - 1522 mm in the body, 1532 mm in the roof rails, 1548 mm in the antenna.

Model history

The development of the Vesta model was actually carried out by the joint venture Renault-Nissan-AvtoVAZ, where the Tolyatti people undertook to unify a number of parts and components with the cars of other participants in the “cooperation”. So, for example, the steering rack and rear suspension, which were developed by Renault, appeared on Vesta.

Regarding the engines, an agreement was reached on the use of VAZ engines and one Nissan engine, but the British designer Stephen Mattin, who came up with the now famous “X-style”, was to be responsible for the exterior.

The first prototype of Lada Vesta appeared in 2015. Interestingly, they planned to produce not only sedans and station wagons, but also hatchbacks, although the latter were very quickly abandoned. As it turned out later, the manufacturer was afraid of unnecessary competition with the XRAY model.

Production sedan cars appeared in the same 2015, and station wagons and its off-road variants appeared 2 years later. At the beginning of 2019, the LADA Vesta Sport with a souped-up engine entered the market, and this modification became the first Vesta that was valued at more than 1 million rubles.

At the end of 2022, the Lada Vesta family experienced a slight restyling. His main achievement was the appearance of the Jatco variator, which was paired with a Renault engine. At the same time, VAZ units were left with only “mechanics”. In 2022, the model will undergo the largest restyling in its history, but it will not affect the technical part. The next target will be 2025, when AvtoVAZ will have to transfer all its models to the global platform of the Renault-Nissan alliance.
