Cars from the Volzhsky Automobile Plant traditionally belong to the risk group, theft of which is quite likely. This statement was equally true for “classical” models, and it is also true now.
At the same time, installing an expensive car alarm on an inexpensive car can hardly be justified. Therefore, many owners are quite satisfied with the standard alarm system that was originally installed on the car. For example, a standard alarm system on a Priora will be able to provide minimal protection against theft and will not require additional costs.
It should be borne in mind that a potential thief (or vandal) first of all pays attention to cars that, upon first inspection, do not have any means of protection. If the owner, when leaving the car, traditionally locks it with the key, and the car itself does not greet its owner with blinking direction indicators, does not react to a blow to the wheel, or does not have a simple flashing light indicator, then such a car becomes an easy prey for scammers.
FACTORY IMMOBILIZER (IMMOBILIZER)
Everything in a modern car is controlled by a computer: from fuel injection to brakes. This feature allows car manufacturers to create car security systems themselves. In the ECU (Electronic Control Unit) there is a special section in the memory - EPROOM. It contains a special file with the same name. It is this file, just a couple of kilobytes in size, that is responsible for the security of the machine. To explain it simply, when this subroutine is activated, the ECU turns off spark generation and fuel supply in the system if it does not receive a signal through the wire from a small block, this same immobilizer. It is also essentially a miniature ECU. Just like a regular alarm, it receives a signal from the key fob. More precisely, the key fob contains a miniature chip that independently sends a unique signal to the APS receiver. Having received the signal, the anti-theft device gives permission to start and disables the circuit blocking that was set when arming. In other words, the mechanical part of the key can be faked. He will crank the cylinder and turn on the ignition. But the Priora will not start until the standard APS is turned off.
Notes on implementation of schemes
Let us immediately note: if there are no window lifters, the second diagram will not contain parts K2/K3. Then you only need to cut one wire. Sometimes only the rear windows are missing. This means that relay K3 is excluded. And the diodes connected in parallel with the winding can be absolutely anything.
Diode, zener diode - everything will do
Now we list the requirements for an element called “relay”:
- Operation voltage – 12 Volts;
- Switching current – 10 A or higher;
- The current consumed by all relay windings should not exceed the value specified in the instructions for the signaling. Usually it is 200-300 mA.
Diode with relay, ready module
In order for “scheme 2” to work, it is necessary not only to assemble it, but also to program the main unit: you need to enable the “2-step unlocking” option. And be that as it may, control impulses cannot be made too long. Use values of 0.7-1.1 seconds.
Power cables (cord X1-6) can only be connected using twists.
The cross-sectional area of the wire must be sufficient to withstand a current of “10 Amps” (this does not apply to signal circuits). A fuse protecting the power circuits must be installed. And of course, before installation, remove the negative terminal of the battery.
Possible faults
Installing a factory alarm does not lead to the frequent need to disable the standard alarm system on the Priora. This is due to minimal functionality and the prevention of malfunctions in the event of unqualified installation of this unit on a car.
However, breakdowns can still occur, as with any electronic and electrical devices on a modern car. Among the most common types of malfunctions, in the case of using an alarm system in conjunction with an immobilizer, the following items can be distinguished:
- inability to start the engine;
- lack of response from the control unit to the key fob signal;
- failure of the body impact sensor;
- frequent alarm activation for no apparent reason;
- blocking doors after receiving a command to open.
One of the typical malfunctions of the standard device itself lies in its very design. Here, the security action underlies the blocking of the ignition system. Therefore, it is not uncommon that after 2-3 years of active use, during the next attempt to start, the starter either does not respond to turning the key, or its operation stops after a few turns.
In such a situation, the very first action will be to temporarily disable the protective device with later diagnostics. If incorrect operation of the alarm control key fob is detected, its condition must be monitored in the following sequence:
- Monitoring the operation of buttons and the state of contacts. Inspect the key fob body for external damage.
- Monitoring the state of the battery. If necessary, replace it.
- Monitoring the health of the control unit. The case of the latter emerging from the influence of external sources is not excluded, although it is an infrequent occurrence. Troubleshooting in this case is the task of the service representative, who will install new software for the control unit.
Failure of the shock sensor to operate may be due to incorrect adjustment (setting). The situation looks similar when the control sensor mistakes a normal gust of wind or too much noise for a blow to the body. In this case, the car owner will not be able to install alarm connection points and control the settings on his own. You will need to contact a service station.
Another malfunction where independent intervention cannot help is the loss of the signal between the power supply and the electromagnetic wire, which is responsible for unlocking and closing the doors. It will be necessary to carry out monitoring with a special multimeter and, if necessary, replace damaged parts or reboot the device.
Disabling without key fob
Disobedience to a car alarm key fob is a rare precedent, but it does happen. The main reason is that the alarm system was assembled and installed with defects that appear over time. The car owner is faced with a dilemma - it is necessary to disable the security device without a remote control. This part of the text is devoted to turning off the system without using the control panel.
The reasons for disconnection can be indirect and objective. Indirect ones include inhibited actions of the key fob that occur due to wear of the remote control battery or accumulator. It is recommended to avoid using the remote control away from the machine.
Another reason when it is impossible to turn off the alarm is that the car battery is discharged. In this case, the owner takes measures to bring the battery into working condition. Next steps are taken with the car alarm.
Objective reasons include worn-out car alarms. In such cases, turning off the device is very problematic. To turn off the alarm, it is advisable to gain access to the service button, or try to turn off the power to the system.
Another reason is that the remote control has lost synchronization with the protection device. The problem can be solved by flashing the remote control yourself, according to the instructions, after first using the emergency opening of the car. How to turn off the alarm in an emergency was discussed above. In any case, there are two main options: car alarm emergency button; using a PIN code.
You shouldn’t give in to panic if you can’t turn off the car alarm at the right time. First of all, you need to remember the recommendations of the alarm operating manual. It is possible to disable it without a key fob, either with your own hands or with the involvement of service organizations. Access to the car interior is always possible.
Sensitively responding to market demands, automakers have created a special anti-theft system that is installed on the car directly on the assembly line. The Priora's security is asleep until it is activated by the owner. This is an immobilizer, or as it was called even more simply - an immobilizer, a standard alarm system of modern cars.
Central locking circuits
Locking and unlocking of the interior doors is organized through a two-step central locking chain. Three contacts of the electrical package control unit are connected to this circuit through a relay system. One power contact (12 V) and two contacts from which the control signal for the power window drives (front and rear) is removed. The two-step central locking circuit is connected through relay coils to the alarm module, and the door lock signals are removed from the alarm module.
Completion of educational program about Lada Priora
After reading, many will probably be overcome by a feeling of powerlessness. Indeed, all the described actions cannot be completed if you do not have experience in repairing Russian Zhiguli cars, as well as the skills of a specialist in electronic systems. The bulk of car owners are still ordinary people who use the vehicle simply as a household appliance and nothing more.
All thoughts are more likely to suit creative people - those who not only drive a Zhiguli, but always strive to improve. For this category of readers, all that remains is to add: all the necessary diagrams of connectors, connections, wiring are available in sufficient quantities on the network. So, you can pick up the tool and start installing the latest model of alarm system on the Priora, if one has not yet been installed to this day.
What causes a car security system to break down?
As we have already said, a car alarm is a technical device. It consists of various parts and elements that become faulty and wear out over time. There are often cases when problems develop at the most inopportune moment. In this case, the driver has to be pretty nervous.
Now let's make a small digression. It is important to understand here that the quality operation of any technical device depends on a number of factors. What do you think we're talking about? Of course, about timely maintenance and care of the components of the anti-theft system.
Premature, spontaneous malfunctions may be due to the following reasons:
- Insufficient battery charge of the control panel;
- Mechanical wear of the button surface of the remote control;
- Oxidation reactions occurring at the location of conductive parts;
- Broken power transmission to the ECU;
- Blown fuses.
The reasons have been found out. How to solve the problem? If it's the battery, then everything is simple - replace it. Worn keys are a common and common occurrence. You can return the remote control for repair or simply buy a new one. In the latter case, you will have to register the key fob in the program. Most often, the keys for opening and closing doors are erased, because they are used more actively.
As for oxidative reactions - how do they occur, why? This happens if the integrity of the key fob is damaged and moisture gets inside it. But this can happen if the remote control falls into a puddle - no one is immune from such incidents. Take the keychain apart to let it dry. If there is no short circuit, the dry remote control will work. If not, replacement is necessary.
How to turn off the standard alarm?
The main reason when it is necessary to disable the standard alarm on a Priora is its malfunction. In such situations, the car unreasonably reacts by turning on the sound signal and prevents the engine from starting. Such a failure in winter conditions poses additional inconvenience. The immobilizer is not only an additional constant consumer of energy, but may simply refuse to work normally in severe frost.
At the first sign of incorrect operation, you should check the serviceability of the alarm control unit on the key fob. Perhaps the poor response to the signal from the key fob is due to a dead battery or the presence of radio interference in a certain place. In such situations, the control unit will only be able to receive a very close signal.
The inability to turn off the standard alarm system on a Priora from the key fob is not an obstacle to turning it off. In this case, you need to use a secret button, which, as a rule, is installed in the cabin or next to the control unit. Check this point when purchasing a car or at the station where the alarm was installed on the car. You can disable the standard alarm system on the Priora by first turning on the ignition. You will need to enter a secret code (PIN code), which must be known to each owner.
After turning off the alarm, you will also need to turn off its power. A possible malfunction may be a low battery charge level, as well as a very high current consumption by the immobilizer if it is damaged.
Starting the engine, bypassing the working unit of the standard alarm, is done by connecting power wires, bypassing the device relay. However, if you are not sure that the wires have been identified correctly, then you should contact a specialist.
Try to avoid using radical measures when performing operations to disconnect the device: cutting wires, tearing out control units and other actions that will later lead to the need for more complex repairs. As a rule, a malfunction that has arisen can be easily diagnosed and possibly eliminated on site, without resorting to the services of a service department.
For M-73 the process will look simpler:
Installing the OpenBox program and the HxD file editor on your computer. Connecting the immobilizer to the computer via an adapter, the standard EEPROM code is read. The code is saved. Open the saved code in a file editor and add the first line with the text: FFFFFFFFFF. Save changes. But such a file can be searched on the Internet. Load the edited code into the immo memory through the program. Disconnect the module and install it in the car. Disabling the immobilizer using a crawler
It is easier to disable the immobilizer on a Priora yourself using a device - an immobilizer crawler for a Priora (most often they are produced by Starline). To do this you need:
Find and disassemble the immobilizer unit in the Priora. Before disconnecting from the network, connect to the computer via an adapter. Resolder the resistor chip to modify the blocker control module. Run Eeprom and Flash diagnostics, save existing versions. Install the “untrained” program in place of the old one. Solder the resistor chip. Deactivate the anti-theft system. To do this, you can change the ignition switch in the Priora to “update” the immobilizer. It’s just that the immobilizer training key will not be used in the future. Disabling the immobilizer without using a crawler
These methods have already been described and they are more reliable because they completely change the firmware of the device and provide a guarantee that the immobilizer will no longer break and will not leave the car owner in the cold. Using a waste module may be an innovative way, but it only masks the problem, not eradicates it.
The standard alarm system on the Lada Priora consists of the following links:
- Control unit – connected to the glass unit control system;
- Communication coil – installed in the ignition switch;
- Main and demonstrative keys, which are equipped with a buzzer and contact keys;
- Central key on the dashboard;
- The control unit is located on the right side of the brake pedal. It has several connection points.
Lada Priora Sedan “S line” › Logbook › DIY installation of Starline A91
The other day I installed a STARLINE A91 alarm system on my car. It took me two days, 6 hours each, to install it. But I still spent a lot of this time on debriefing - what, where and how to connect. I read a lot of blogs and decided to write short instructions for installing such an alarm. Let me clarify right away that I did not connect the trunk opening button and the engine blocking relay to the alarm, and I also did not do step-by-step opening of the doors. Let me jump ahead - only four wires need to be cut completely (to the central locking in the door, to the starter, to the standard immobilizer bypass and to the handbrake), we simply connect the rest in parallel.
PS I didn’t take any photos during installation because... I didn't see the point in this.
To begin with, I purchased: 1) corrugated cables. It took me about 6 meters, because... I hid all the wires in it. (the length depends on where you will have the alarm unit)2) electrical tape3) 4 1N4007 diodes (if not included with the alarm)4) wire. (also depends on where the signaling is installed, because the length of some wires is not enough) 5) a standard immobilizer crawler (in which we put the chip) 6) a lot of patience. After all, you’ll have to crawl on your knees under the steering wheel and there’s not too much space there))))
Now briefly about the installation: 1) remove the fuse box cover
5) unscrew the BUS with a 10mm wrench. It is held on by two bolts. I only needed to unscrew one side and I pulled it out.
6) we put the antenna on the windshield 7) I embedded the light bulb into the trim of the left pillar
The shock sensor is written that it needs to be placed on the body and so that there is access to it for adjustment, but I did not find such a place and placed it to the right of the fuse block on plastic. 9) we hide the service button somewhere but so that you can reach it while configuring the alarm .10) from the engine compartment we pull three wires from the signaling system from the 18-pin connector - orange-gray, black, grey. Gray is the plus for the siren, we connect the minus from the siren to the body. Orange-gray and black we connect to the temperature sensor that comes complete with signaling I bolted the temperature sensor to the engine. We also additionally connect the orange-gray wire to the hood end switch (to the white-black wire) 11) and from the 18-pin connector we pull two wires into the instrument panel - gray-black, orange-violet. Gray - we connect black to brown-white (this is a generator), and orange-violet to brown-blue (this is a handbrake) according to the diagram. (The diode must be connected exactly according to the diagram. The diode designations are present in the picture)
PS later redid the control of engine operation using the tachometer because there were problems with reading the generator. In general, the gray-black signal wire should be connected to the brown-red one in the instrument panel and in the signaling settings, control the engine operation using the tachometer.
12) We cut the loop of black wire from the 18-pin connector if you have a manual transmission 13) We lay two wires from the 6-pin connector of the central locking alarm into the driver's door - green and green-black. connect it to the brown wire near the central locking unit. make connections according to the diagram below
Also note that the blue wire needs to be connected to the green one, and the black and red wire must be cut and one end (which goes to the unlocking relay) connected to the car body

Principle of operation
The principle of operation of the standard Priora alarm, like any other, with reliable dynamic coding, is quite simple and understandable. The activated signaling system accepts for execution exclusively the commands of the native, trained chip installed in the ignition key of the Lada Priora. This will be followed by a series of logically related actions:
- the communication coil, having received a reliable encoded signal from the ignition key chip, forwards it to the standard immobilizer (IMMO) of the Lada;
- he, in turn, checks the received reliable, encoded signal with the code recorded in his memory;
- if they match, the immobilizer sends a command to the authorized engine start of the Priora ECU;
- The Lada ECU, having received a signal from the IMMO alarm, unlocks its electrical circuits;
- If there is an unauthorized attempt to start the Priora engine, the IMMO will not send a confirmation signal to the ECU and the control circuits will not be unlocked. In addition, a siren warning signal with light flashes will sound;
- in addition, the car key fob, built into the chipped ignition key, controls the central locking of the Lada Priora and its window lifts;
- By installing shock or volume sensors yourself, the alarm system receives an additional option to increase its reliability.
Important: be sure to require activation of the standard Priora alarm system when purchasing it. Otherwise, you will have to configure it yourself using a training key with a red insert. In this case, various nuances with its performance are possible.
Reliability level
Undoubtedly, the standard alarm system installed and configured on the Lada Priora is simple, reliable and fully adapted to difficult local weather conditions. Properly activated, it leaves no doubt about its functionality. Besides:
Unfortunately, if the factory, standard installation is a big plus of such an alarm, then at the same time it is also a significant minus. Thousands of analogues of such alarms drive Lada Prioras across the vast expanses of the country. No mystery for attackers. But they are not looking for cars with alarms, but without them at all. You also need to understand these immobilizers, and time is money. And unnecessary problems are not for the criminal business.
What to do if Priora is not removed from the standard alarm!
The hazard lights are blinking, the car does not respond to the ignition key buttons. As a rule, several blocks are involved here, which are synchronized with each other.
- Ignition
- Radio channel module (Located in the driver's door)
- Electrical package block (Comfort block)
- Engine ECU
New blocks come with non-activated codes inside and can be installed on any car without problems, but once you register (train) the keys, a special code is written into all these blocks, which is synchronized with each other and serves as a standard alarm system. (Immobilizer) As soon as you turn the ignition key, within five seconds there is a poll between the key and the units, if the code matches everywhere, then the engine ECU gives permission to start, if the code of at least one device is not recognized, the engine ECU is blocked and the car does not start.
The working key is trained using a special red training key. I will not describe the procedure for learning keys; there is plenty of information on the Internet. In fact, the main key is the red training key; it stores a code that, after training, is written into the working key and other blocks.
Principles of disabling car alarms
The car alarm can be turned off in two ways. To disable the standard alarm, it is recommended to use the factory method. To disable it, use the “Valet” service button. This is only possible if you know where it is located, located in secluded but accessible places:
- Directly at the gas or clutch pedals;
- In the area of the fuse box;
- In the niches of the steering column;
- In accessible places on the front panels.
If it is impossible to identify the button in the indicated places to turn off the car alarm, experts advise referring to the instructions. For alarm management, this information is key and must be contained. To disable, use a combination of simultaneously pressing the buttons and one of the pedals or two.
If you fail to turn off the car alarm after several attempts, it may become blocked. The recommended time for holding the alarm button with the pedal pressed should be at least 10 seconds.
The next technique is a coded shutdown, without using a car alarm key fob. Modern devices use button and ignition combinations. Disabling steps can be done manually using several techniques. Details on how to turn off the machine alarm are described in the attached instructions for setup and operation.
This option uses a PIN code that is programmed in advance. The combination of symbols is known exclusively to the car owner. The PIN code is programmed with the ignition on and successive pressing of the emergency button. The number of times the button is pressed corresponds to the first or second character of the code.
When setting a PIN code for car alarms with your own hands, the maximum code value of 4 digits is allowed - 9999. In standard alarm systems supplied by manufacturers, the PIN code is not complicated. It is not difficult to disable the car security system. Therefore, experts recommend reprogramming the code using a much more complex combination of symbols. Linking to memorable dates is not recommended.
There are alternative options to disable the car alarm. One of them is the use of original software. In another, special crawlers are used to disable the alarm.
Alarm activation
In order to activate the standard alarm, you will need a training and master key, which must be issued when purchasing the car. Be sure to pay attention to this, or in the future you will have to contact the dealer separately. You will need to carry out the following actions in the prescribed manner:
- Fill the fuel tank (at least 10 l). This action must be performed so as not to get confused in the signals supplied by the immobilizer and to carry out the sequence of operations in strict accordance with the algorithm.
- First of all, you need to use the learning key, which is inserted into the ignition switch. The ignition must be turned on for a certain time (about 6 seconds), and all doors in the car must be tightly closed. Correct actions can be monitored by a rapidly flashing (about 5 times per second) indicator lamp. After this, you can turn off the ignition and remove the learning key from the lock.
Important points for connecting the immobilizer
- Immediately after removing the training key, you need to quickly (until the warning light goes out) insert the main working key and turn on the ignition again. Three signals will confirm the correctness of your actions. But you need to wait for the next two signals after a certain time, after which you can turn off the ignition and remove the key.
- The key must remain in the lock. Confirmation of the correctness of the actions will be another, this time a single signal with a rapid blinking of the immobilizer warning lamp.
- Now the ignition is turned on briefly (for 2-3 seconds), and after turning it off, you need to wait for the sound signal to sound three times, and the warning lamp stops blinking. Before starting the engine, you need to take a long pause (at least 10 seconds).
At this point, immobilizer training can be considered complete. The installation of the alarm system for the Priora may be carried out incorrectly, or another malfunction in the operation of the security system may occur - as a result, the car engine will not be able to start. Such a failure can be monitored as follows:
- We turn on the ignition with the working key and after a while (usually 5-6 seconds) we visually check the warning lamp. If it blinks once per second, this mode indicates an error condition. It is enough to turn on the ignition again after 10-15 seconds for the device to resynchronize.
- If the error is detected again and in a situation where the light is constantly on, the entire procedure for learning the standard alarm is carried out again.
Keep the special training key, as it may be required if it is necessary to retrain the immobilizer, or if a copy of the key is made. Cases when you have to make and use a new working key are not that rare. The technical capabilities of the protective device can be significantly expanded in practice. Often, Priora owners take advantage of additional features such as:
- delay in turning off the interior lamp;
- remote activation of the rear fog lamp;
- a “forgetful” driver signal that will remind you if the driver left the key in the lock when leaving the car;
- Reminder that external lights are not turned off.
Protection functions and operational reliability
The standard Priora alarm system is not overloaded with additional functions. It does not have access to service options related to auto start, opening the trunk, or searching for a car in a parking lot. It will not inform its owner based on the indication from the key fob about the loss of communication with him. And even more so, it will not send all kinds of SMS messages about various machine malfunctions. Let the owners of Bugatti Veyron and Porsche 918 use GSM communication and GPS navigation services.
It is absolutely not worth using a gas adjustable wrench No. 3 as a torque gauge. The standard Lada car alarms have a different task. They don’t need to amaze the Priora owner’s colleagues with the ergonomics of the control key fob or autostart from a neighboring village. Their advantage is reliability and ease of setup without additional hassle and the involvement of related specialists. In addition, during its operation, the standard alarm system ensures the safety of specific areas of the machine:
- doors of a protected vehicle;
- car hood or trunk door;
- driver's door with lock cylinder;
- voltage at the terminals of the standard battery.
Lada Priora will give a fairly reliable alarm signal and will accompany it with flashes of turn signals when attempting to violate any of the zones protected by the standard alarm system. Such unauthorized access attempts include:
- desire to open any of the car doors, including the trunk or hood;
- turning an untrained key in the ignition lock of the Lada;
- any manipulations with the standard battery related to its connection or disconnection;
- when an additionally configured volume or shock sensor is triggered.
Important: if cases of incorrect operation of the car’s standard alarm system occur, you should first of all check the serviceability of the control key fob.
