The dimensions of such a VAZ 2107 roof rack may differ from the standard ones, and they are selected depending on the parameters of the cargo being transported. The Zhigulevsk product is a classic representative of open-type luggage racks.
Closed-type devices look like a box made of plastic. This product has some advantages compared to the previous version - it is reliable protection of the transported cargo from bad weather and improved aerodynamics (less wind resistance), and therefore fuel economy. Typically, such luggage racks are used to transport things. It consists of a base and a lid, and has a fairly large capacity. Such devices are installed on the roof of the car when the whole family makes long trips.
The devices, which consist of two roof rails with crossbars, are used for transporting large building materials, as well as bicycles, etc. This option is also called a simplified version of open-type products, which has one significant advantage - it does not spoil the appearance of the car. Installation of all of the above devices is carried out using special brackets that engage with the car's gutters. When choosing the devices in question, you need to know that they are adjustable, which allows you to install them on the roof of any classic VAZ, including the VAZ 2107.
How to install a roof rack on a VAZ 2107
Installation of the roof rack on the VAZ 2107 is carried out on special sides, which are called storm drains. These storm drains are places provided by the factory to protect door openings from the flow of precipitation from the roof. Installation of trunk mounts must be carried out at an equal distance from the front and rear windows of the car. This allows the load to be distributed evenly on the upper part of the body.
The fastenings are placed in such a way that there are no obstacles to opening and closing the doors. On the sevens on the interior side there are auxiliary marks indicating the location of the pillars. It is in the locations of these racks that the trunk must be installed. Installation of the selected roof rack on the roof of a VAZ 2107 car is carried out in the following sequence:
- The trunk is located on the roof with brackets, after which it is secured with mounting brackets. Before tightening the bolts, you must make sure that the racks are not distorted.
- The device mounting brackets installed on the inside of the storm drain must have a rubberized base. If such a base is not available, then you will need to use rubberized seals to prevent the possibility of them coming into contact with the paintwork of the car.
- If you miscalculate the installation of the product, it can lead to damage to the roof. The bolts are tightened using the appropriate size wrench or by hand. Most modern devices are equipped with bolted connections that are hand-tightened.
- At this point, the installation is complete, and all that remains is to position the load and secure it properly.
The VAZ 2107 roof rack must not only be installed correctly, but also properly operated. The maximum load should not be more than 60 kg. Moreover, it is important to take into account not only the weight of the cargo being transported, but also its dimensions. Transporting long items in the form of boards from 2-3 meters leads to the creation of additional load. It is formed due to the air flow, which acts on the front of the boards, trying to push them off the trunk. At the same time, fastenings on drains experience the heaviest load. In addition, transported long items must be marked with a red flag on the back.
Installation of the device does not take much time, but at the same time it increases the efficiency of the vehicle used for transporting various goods.
Wiper sizes
Factory wipers on the VAZ-2107 are 33 cm (13”). Despite the fact that 14” and 15” wipers are suitable for this car model, factory ones are considered the best option, since the motor is designed specifically for them. Despite the improvement, all glass on the VAZ-2107 remained the same size:
- wind – 1440×536×6;
- rear window – 1360×512×5;
- front door glass (pivot) – 346×255×5;
- front door (lowering) – 503×422×5;
- rear door (lowering) – 543×429×5;
- rear door glass (fixed) – 372×258×5.
All geometry control points also remained unchanged. They can be found on the drawings that come with the car. The standard dimensions of the aluminum stove radiator are 200×174×42. It is also suitable for other models, such as VAZ-2101, VAZ-2103, VAZ-2105.
