How to turn off the alarm If even the valet button does not respond

The presence of many functions in the car security system raises many questions, especially for novice drivers. And indeed, not getting lost in all these options is not so easy.

But the main thing you need to know when choosing an alarm system for your car is:

  • its protective level, the presence of operations that ensure its safety;
  • quantitative presence of warning functions, as well as other options that help protect vehicles from theft;
  • the permissibility of installing such modern security devices as an immobilizer, GPS and others.

An equally important function in the vehicle security system is performed by the Valet service, which for its purpose was called “service”. It is designed to disable the car's security service if necessary.

Until recently, Valet was used to configure certain functions, but now this option is mainly used when you need to disable the security device, which happens when leaving the car for repairs or preventative maintenance at a car service center.

Let's take a closer look at what this mode is and how to use it, as well as its features.

What it is

Valet mode or simply service mode is widely used in car alarms of various configuration levels and budgets. When this mode is activated, key functions that perform vehicle protection tasks are deactivated. That is, in fact, the car is not protected. This mode is used in situations where the car is safe; it is impossible to disarm it completely, but it is also not worth turning off the system entirely. A striking example is the transfer of a car to a car service center. By turning on the Valet, the alarm will not go off and the technician will have access to the interior, trunk or engine compartment without any problems. In this case, the keychain remains with you.

If we talk about older models, then there is another purpose for the service mode. Previous security systems implied the need to switch to Valet if it was necessary to configure the system.

Usually, when installing a car alarm that has Valet, a special button is installed. They try to put it in the most accessible place so that an attacker does not have the opportunity to use it and disarm the car.

Never tell anyone where this button is. Even if you leave the car at a trusted car service center.

Valet is found on a fairly large number of security systems designed for vehicles.

In particular, they can be found on the following signals:

  • Sherkhan Magicar;
  • Sheriff;
  • Tomahawk;
  • Cenmax;
  • Jaguar;
  • Pandora;
  • Ghost;
  • Alligator;
  • Starline, etc.

In fact, motorists have two main questions:

  • how to remove the mode if it is enabled;
  • how to activate it.

Somehow I personally encountered the fact that after activation I stubbornly could not disable Valet on my machine. I had to dig into the instruction manual. The problem was resolved quickly. But I advise you to first look at the instructions from your manufacturer.

Advantages and disadvantages

Advantages:

  • Compact sizes.
  • Multifunctionality.
  • Alarm system - guarantees the highest degree of protection of the car from illegal actions.
  • Long service life.
  • Possibility of remote control from a long distance.
  • Light weight and shockproof capabilities of key fobs.

Some nuances:

  • How to set up a StarLine alarm key fob: setting the time, enabling auto-start and adjusting the volume
  • The price is a little high.
  • Controlling the modes requires careful study of the instructions so as not to accidentally block the car.

Disabling the alarm on a car without a key fob

If the car door is open, then there is a problem starting the engine. After all, most modern security systems block it. The steps are as follows:

  • Turn off the alarm speaker.
  • Start unlocking the engine.

It will take some time to unlock the motor. Therefore, you will have to crawl under the hood and turn off the alarm speaker.

To disable the security device you will need:

  • Perform the ignition switch combination.
  • Press the secret key Valet.

Installation location of the service button:

  • Shows the specialist who was involved in the installation of security systems.
  • You should check with the previous owner of the car if it was purchased secondhand.

An independent search, if the location is unknown, is carried out at random in the following places:

  • Under the car dashboard.
  • Near the fuse box.
  • Near the control pedal.

Different manufacturers of car security systems use different combinations to put the device into service mode. The combination for Pantera, Sheriff, Alligator security systems is not complicated:

  • Turn on the ignition.
  • Press Valet for a short time.
  • On some Pantera systems, the button must be held for several seconds.

How to turn off the Starline alarm using a button:

  • Turn on the ignition.
  • Press the Valet button for models A1, A2, A4.
  • For models A8, A9, the button should be pressed 4 times.
  • Turn off the ignition.

The StarLine A6 system requires a more complex combination. To operate this device, a two-digit code is used, and it indicates the number of presses.

Example for code 11 (factory default code):

  • Turn on the ignition.
  • Press the service button once.
  • Turn off the ignition.
  • Turn the ignition back on.
  • Press the button again.
  • Turn it off again.

There are other systems that also use a two-digit code. By following the steps described above, you can unlock the engine.

Tips and tricks

Most of these methods are only effective with simple security systems. More advanced alarms are highly technically complex. Such systems include GSM alarms, the management of which is more complex. Therefore, before use, it is necessary to study the instructions in detail.

How to turn off the alarm yourself

When turning off the alarm, there is no need to influence the operation of the system itself, because such actions can simply disable it. It is recommended to carry out exclusively a stationary shutdown method. Despite the presence of a large number of disabling instructions on the Internet, many modern security systems are highly complex. During their design, specialists try to use as many different systems and assemblies as possible. This helps prevent suspected theft.

It is quite difficult to cope with a malfunction on your own, therefore, if the alarm system malfunctions, the driver’s main task is to temporarily disable it. After this, the car must be delivered to the nearest car service center for further diagnostics and repairs. Experienced specialists will restore the system, and you will be able to operate your car again.

Video - How to turn off the alarm yourself

Sometimes a car owner may find himself in a not very good situation. The following may happen: the key fob that disables the Starline security alarm system may run out of battery. What to do in this case? How to use your car?

If the problem is with the key fob that opens the car, you can, of course, run for a battery and check whether it will work with it. Another common reason for this alarm to malfunction is that one of the buttons on the key fob can easily break. The thing is that the key fob buttons are very flimsy and break very easily. With a broken button, such a keychain turns into a useless toy. If you have time, you can disassemble the device and solder the contacts. This is done very simply.

StarLine does not respond to the key fob at times

There may be several reasons for an alarm to not trigger correctly. If the problem is intermittent, then you should pay attention to the following factors:

  • The car is parked in a radio interference zone. In urban environments, there may be objects near the car that interfere with proper signal transmission. These could be cell towers, airports, sensitive facilities, or simply a large accumulation of metal parts. Some models such as A6, A61 or A8 are equipped with a special signal amplifier that solves this problem;
  • low battery charge. The car can receive signals from the key fob, but due to low voltage in the system, do not open the doors or do not autostart. This problem is clearly expressed after the car has been idle for a long time or at low temperatures. And it quickly disappears after regular trips, since the battery is constantly recharged;
  • wear and tear of car alarm parts. During operation, car alarm components are subject to wear and tear.

Warning

The article was written for those car owners who want to start or unlock their vehicle without knowing how to turn off the alarm. For car thieves and other bad people hungry for easy money, this information will be useless. It is used as a guide, but not as a universal instruction.

How to turn off a car alarm

Note! Most of the manipulations are carried out using a “secret” button or key, so without knowing the code, having a key fob and a vehicle door key, it is impossible to turn off the alarm. In addition, breaking into someone else's car entails criminal liability.

Disabling valet mode

If the machine shows signs that the Valet mode is active, or the corresponding indicator is displayed on the control panel, it will need to be turned off.

In fact, in almost all cases, an identical method is used to deactivate the service mode. But it is still better to clarify this in the instructions.

Bosal towbars and exhaust systems: European excellence

Typically you need to do the following:

  • sit in the car;
  • insert the key into the ignition;
  • turn the engine on and off;
  • after turning off the engine, wait 10 seconds;
  • hold down the Valet button for a few seconds;
  • if you have a switch, then move it to the Off position;
  • if it is a key fob, hold down the button with the image of a speaker and an open lock for a few seconds.

If everything is done correctly and this algorithm matches your alarm system, you will hear a double beep and see a graphic indication on the remote control.

Do not be afraid to disable security systems, sometimes switching to this special service mode as needed. Only basic functions are disabled, but not all.

Many car alarm models have a so-called Panic or Anti HiJack mode. Its essence is that you can instantly turn on all systems if an emergency arises. These modes work even when Jack is enabled.

Have you ever encountered Valet? Were there any difficulties with its use and in what situations did you use this mode? Does the specified instruction correspond to the features of turning it on and off specifically on your car?

What is Valet mode in alarm systems?

When the car's anti-theft equipment is in Valet mode, all its functions stop working, not counting the remote control of the anti-theft "Panic" mode, the unlocking and locking system of the car doors. The owner can do all this using a key fob.

Usually, in order for the alarm to enter Valet mode, a special button is used, the location of which is known only to the owner of the car. This approach is quite justified, because the device can be used by criminals to deactivate the security alarm of a vehicle when it is stolen.

Thus, “Valet” is a service option inherent in various security systems. If it is activated, the car becomes unprotected against malicious actions against it.

By the way, certain security installations require the use of this option not only when it is necessary to disable the anti-theft function during car repair or maintenance, but also to set up an alarm system.

To ensure that your vehicle is always protected, do not forget to disable the Valet option.

Every driver is concerned not only with the appearance and technical condition of his favorite car, but also with its security. And quite reasonable. After all, the issue of transport safety always remains relevant. And since safety devices fail over time, it is quite understandable that they are supposed to be turned off, which is also done using the described option.

Deactivation of Starline A1, A2, A4, A and A9 alarms

In order to turn off the alarm without using a personal code, you must perform the following sequence of actions:

  • the owner opens the door using the key (the siren will be activated);
  • insert the key into the ignition and turn;
  • Press the Valet button three times (Starline A1, A2 and A4) or four times (Starline A8 and A9) and turn off the car ignition.

However, it is important to remember the following: all actions must be completed in 20 seconds or less - otherwise the security will not be turned off.

If the alarm is deactivated by entering a two-digit number, after the lights flash four times, you need to do the following: after activating the alarm, insert the key into the ignition and press the button as many times as indicated in the first number (1-9). After this, turn the ignition off and on and enter the second digit. You have 20 seconds to do everything. Otherwise, the alarm will not be unlocked.

How to activate Valet mode

It has already been noted above that you need to enable the Valet function when sending the car to a service station or car service. This can be done in two ways: using a button located directly in the car, or using a remote control (key fob).

Using a push button switch

Starting the mode in this case involves the following operations:

  • get into the car and turn the ignition on and off;
  • after 10 seconds have passed after the operation to turn off the ignition, press the Valet button and hold it for 2 seconds;
  • you should hear a short beep from the security alarm;
  • After this, the signal indicator (LED) usually lights up, indicating that the option has been activated.

If, when activating the Valet function, you want to use the ignition, audible signals will warn you that the security device is not working.

Most models of modern security devices require remote activation of this mode.

Using the remote control

In this case, you should do this:

  • first make sure that the anti-theft system is not in an alarm state;
  • get into the car and, as in the previous case, quickly perform the ignition operation;
  • 10 seconds after that, there are two buttons on the remote control at the same time (representing an open lock and a speaker) and hold them for 10 seconds;
  • protective equipment should respond to such manipulations with a small siren;
  • After this, the LED will make itself known, indicating that Valet mode is activated.

What does the button look like?

It is important to know

To determine as accurately as possible what the Valet service key looks like, you need to look at the operating instructions.

The manual for any security system, including Alligator and Sheriff, contains images of all components included in the delivery kit. Depending on the manufacturer, this element may have a different shape and color of the insulating layer of the cable that powers it.

Description of the main appearance features that allow the consumer to recognize and detect the Jack key:

  • The button is small in size, as a rule, no more than 1.2-1.5 cm.
  • There are two wires connected to the key - power and ground. The color of the conductors may match the color of the standard cables. Experienced installers of anti-theft systems specifically change the wire in order to ensure hidden installation of the part.
  • On Sheriff alarms and other models, the button itself is located in the center of the black plastic case. It can be made in the form of a circle or square with rounded ends.

Possible causes of failure

There are not many reasons why the alarm system failed. However, you must definitely understand them in order to know how to turn off the alarm on your car. So, the reasons include:

  • Presence of radio interference .
    This is especially true for megacities and places with large concentrations of cars and various electronics. The fact is that modern electronic devices are sources of radio waves, which under certain conditions can interfere and jam each other. This also applies to the signals emitted by car alarm key fobs. For example, if next to your car there is a car with a faulty alarm system that emits its own signal, then there are times when it interrupts the impulses sent by the “native” key fob. To resolve this, try moving closer to the alarm control unit and activating the key fob there. Internals of the alarm key fob
  • Damage to the key fob (control panel). This happens quite rarely, but this hypothesis should still be tested. This can happen due to a strong impact, getting wet, or for externally unknown reasons (failure of internal microcircuit elements). The simplest failure in this case is battery discharge . This should be avoided and the battery in the remote control should be changed in a timely manner. If you have a key fob with one-way communication, then to diagnose the battery, just press the button and see if the signal light lights up. If this does not happen, the battery needs to be replaced. If you use a key fob with two-way communication, then on its display you will see a battery charge indicator. If you have a spare key fob, try using it.
  • Car battery discharge . In this case, all systems of the machine are de-energized, including the alarm system. Therefore, it is necessary to monitor the battery level, especially in winter . If the battery is really low, you can open the doors simply with the key. However, when you open the door, the alarm system will go off. Therefore, we recommend that you open the hood and disconnect the negative terminal on the battery. To turn off the alarm and start the engine, you can try “lighting” it from another car.

The considered problems can be eliminated in two ways - with or without the use of a key fob. Let's look at them in order.

Causes of malfunctions in car alarms

The anti-theft system occupies a vital place in the vehicle security system. For this reason, the occurrence of problems with it, mechanical or hardware, makes the car vulnerable to theft. It is important to be able to understand malfunctions and recognize the first symptoms. It is customary to distinguish several main reasons for the failure of a car alarm:

  • power supply problem;
  • presence of radio interference;
  • software failures;
  • control panel malfunction;
  • frost below the permissible norm;
  • battery discharge.

If power surges occur in a car, they can lead to complete failure of electrical equipment in a short time. If there is no current at all, the signal is automatically de-energized, and the car no longer responds to commands sent by the key fob. It is also possible that the wiring contacts may oxidize or the fuses may break. Because of this, current cannot pass through the circuit, and the anti-theft system cannot respond correctly to commands.

Radio interference is relevant for large cities where there is a large concentration of cars and various electronics. The latter emit radio waves, which, under certain conditions, cancel each other out. For example, a faulty alarm key fob of a neighboring car can interrupt the impulses supplied by the “native” remote control.

A software failure is caused by problems in the operation of the central unit, which performs the functions of the main control. As a rule, the first sign of this is a glitch in the alarm system. Numerous errors appear and the engine is blocked.

False alarms can also be caused by incorrect adjustment of the sensitivity of the controllers. If the technician sets this parameter to too high a value, the sensors will trigger more often, even reacting to vibrations from other cars, animals passing nearby, and loud sounds. Another mistake is that the controllers are installed on a plastic base, which itself increases vibrations. In addition, if the plastic heats up and expands, the sensors will automatically trigger.

This is interesting: Typical thermostat malfunctions and replacement on a 406 divigator

The causes of problems with the remote control are falling or water getting inside the microcircuit. When it breaks or malfunctions, the central unit cannot receive commands and control the system.

Severe frosts below 25 degrees Celsius negatively affect the operation of the anti-theft system. In this case, difficulties arise in data transfer. As for battery discharge, this is a common situation that leads to the loss of power to all electrical systems of the car. This often happens in the winter season.

Electronic protection device

To a first approximation, any alarm system is a complex of interconnected electronic devices. The malfunction of any of them, of course, leads to the loss of the function intended only for it and, in general, the entire car alarm ceases to be functional. The list of such electronic components most often looks like this:

  • remote control - key fob. It is a miniature mobile phone. Its task is to send an encoded radio signal to the car alarm receiving antenna. The functions of supplying a control signal can be performed by the driver’s individual tag (card), the secret “Valet” button, a mobile phone, the ignition key;
  • it can be made with or without a display;
  • it comes with both one-way and two-way communication;
  • with its help, knowing how and what to do, you can program some functions of the alarm system installed on the machine;

Where is?

Since the Jack button performs an emergency disabling of the security mode, it should be located as secretly as possible so that the criminal cannot use it.

If the installation of the anti-theft system is not carried out independently, a specialist can install the key anywhere in the cabin. The car owner must be informed where exactly the part is located. In most cases, you need to look for the key under the instrument cluster (it can be disguised in one of the bundles with standard wiring). To prevent a criminal from quickly unlocking the security mode, the installer could wrap the wires and the part itself with electrical tape for more reliable protection.

Possible locations for installing the Jack button:

  • in the free space on the audio system;
  • under the driver's seat;
  • in the plastic trim of the steering wheel near the ignition switch;
  • in the free space behind the central part of the dashboard;
  • behind the glove compartment;
  • under the ashtray;
  • in the area of the parking brake lever.

If you need to find the location of the key for the Panther alarm or any other model in the car, you must perform the following steps:

  • Calculate the location of the microprocessor module, which may be located under the instrument cluster or in the free space behind it. If difficulties arise at this stage, you can use power circuits with a positive contact that come from the battery or ignition switch. Sometimes it is advisable to use the negative output connected to the battery or a standard bolt screwed into the body of the vehicle.
  • Carefully examine all the pads on the microprocessor module. If the consumer still has the service manual for the alarm, then the documentation will allow you to understand the purpose of the pads. One of the outputs on the microprocessor unit is intended for connecting a service button.
  • If documentation is missing, it is necessary to check each wire coming from the control unit. Usually the key is connected through a separate connector designed for 2 or 4 contacts. Sometimes, to search, you will need to dismantle the interior trim.

If you have difficulty determining the location of the control unit, then on Starline A91 alarms and other models you can proceed as follows:

The car does not start after turning it off: what to do?

It happens that after the car is switched to emergency mode, the operation of the engine or other important components is blocked, which leads to the inability to use the vehicle for its intended purpose. Most often this happens due to a power failure in the alarm unit.

To restore its functionality, follow these steps:

  1. Disconnect power to the vehicle, locate the main wire and inspect the adjacent wires that connect to it.
  2. Among them you can see two cut wires connected to the remote control unit - these are exactly what the driver will need.
  3. To restore the car's functionality, you need to disconnect the car alarm wiring and connect the cut wires.
  4. After this, you need to return the power supply and wait 10-15 seconds for the system to reboot - everything should work.

In practice, there are cases when the car stops starting after putting it into emergency mode using the Valet button. Such a scenario indicates a serious error in the operation of the system, and it can occur for a variety of reasons - from damaged wires to a software failure. If the driver encounters such a problem, it is recommended to tow the car to a car workshop so that an experienced technician can determine the cause of the breakdown and carry out repairs, since it will be difficult to cope with this task yourself.

Valet button

The presence of a Valet button or a service key included with the main instruments is an indicator of the quality of the security system. It is a compact mechanical device that can turn off the alarm if necessary without a key fob.

The Valet button can be located in various places on the vehicle. Where it will be is decided by the owner himself. As a rule, it is hidden in some hard-to-reach niche: near the fuse box, under the dashboard, next to the driver, behind the glove compartment. This is done to protect against hijackers. If the service button is installed by a technician, he must provide the car owner with information about its location. The mini button is connected in most cases to an orange wire. On some alarm models, the wiring may be darker in color, with brown stripes.

If there is no information about the location of Valet, you can find it by the flashing sensor indicator. It is in this area or nearby that the button should be located.

Thus, Valet with the Override function makes it possible to turn off the alarm in extreme situations. Without this button, a modern security system looks very poor. Of course, the “Jack” button provides many additional features:

  • alarm system programming;
  • emergency shutdown in case of an unsuccessful attempt in the standard way;
  • turning off the siren if the key fob is lost or broken.

Intervention using the Valet device means intelligently disabling the alarm. After finding the mechanism, several presses are made while maintaining a certain interval (the number and time are indicated in the instructions for the specific alarm model).

Emergency mute

Emergency shutdown of the Starline alarm system while maintaining the security function allows you to turn off the sound or light signals. To deactivate, use a short-term impact on the remote control button designed to control the vehicle security modes. On some alarm systems, it is possible to turn off the siren with a cursor, which is placed on the icon with the image of a loudspeaker. The active zone of the triggered sensor remains active on the display, which turns off after the cause of the alarm is eliminated.

Emergency disarming or termination of alarm signals is allowed by disconnecting the battery from the on-board network. If the car uses a siren with an autonomous power source, it will continue to work. Starline security systems are equipped with non-volatile memory that maintains the operating mode. Therefore, when the alarm power supply circuits are reconnected, the engine will be blocked and the alarm mode will be activated again.

If there is no reaction from the defense

Just as an unloaded gun hanging on the wall shoots, a seemingly serviceable key fob refuses to disarm the car. In other words, the perplexed driver will have to find out for himself the reason for the absence of a coded signal or the reluctance of other car alarm components to respond to it. Sometimes it is not difficult to fix this malfunction with your own hands, but sometimes repair is simply impossible. What to do if the alarm does not recognize the key fob:

  • A simple DIY repair will involve simply changing the battery inside. It’s not difficult to understand what to do;
  • The main thing here is to choose the right battery or “pill” with the current expiration date;
  • do not confuse the declared polarity during such repairs;
  • if there is no new battery in the foreseeable vicinity, you can try to revive the old one yourself by slightly deforming it;
  • The functionality of the key fob in this case can be checked by the glow of its LED and how the car alarm itself reacts to the key fob;
  • if the previous key fob repair option did not give positive results, then you can use an auxiliary key fob without a display;
  • if the alarm system begins to respond normally to the key fob signal, then you can repair the main key fob yourself at home in a calm environment;
  • After opening it for repair, you should very carefully inspect all the switching wiring. And especially in the area of the battery;
  • If the repair results are negative, you will have to purchase a new key fob yourself. There have been no problems with their purchase for a long time;
  • Repairs of similar complexity will involve the ability to eliminate harmful interference. It’s hard to even imagine how many there could be. Especially if there is an industrial facility, shopping or exhibition center nearby;
  • It is unlikely that you will be able to simply roll the car to the side - the car alarm will go off with all the ensuing consequences;
  • but it would be quite reasonable to use the “Valet” function of the car alarm. To the extent that you can carry out the necessary repairs at the nearest alarm service center.
  • Important: the presence of spare batteries, as well as an additional key fob, will greatly simplify the life of the car owner in the above repair cases.

Step-by-step guide to disabling Valet mode

In Starline alarms, you can disable the Valet mode using the key fob, provided that the remote control is equipped with a display.

The algorithm of actions will be as follows:

  • You enter the security system setup menu. To do this, you need to hold down one of the keys to activate the cursor selection of functional options. The button number depends on the model of the anti-theft complex.
  • The cursor then moves on the screen to the position of the indicator with a wrench and the inscription “Valet”. The user presses the button on the communicator with the open lock icon once. The security system siren will sound three times, and the external lighting devices will blink three times. This refers to hazard warning lights or side lights, depending on which optical elements the anti-theft complex is connected to. The communicator should emit a melodic signal.
  • The indicator with the letter Z should disappear on the key fob display. Often, after disabling the service mode, the turbo timer and immobilizer settings are lost, so they need to be restored.

Deactivation of the service mode using the example of the Alligator L430 alarm system:

  • The ignition system in the car is turned on and off.
  • The user presses a key and holds it for two seconds. This must be done within fifteen seconds after the ignition is turned off. If deactivation is performed using the remote control, the locked and unlocked keys are held for three seconds.
  • If the service mode is successfully deactivated, the alarm siren will sound twice. The system status LED should turn off.

On the Alligator C250, disabling the service mode is done as follows:

  • The driver gets into the car, activates and turns off the ignition system.
  • Within ten seconds after the last shutdown, the Valet button is pressed once.
  • The siren should beep twice and the LED indicator will stop blinking.

If you have a remote control, then deactivating the mode on the Alligator C250 is done as follows:

  • The driver gets into the car, the key in the lock is turned to the “ACC” position, and then immediately to “OFF” or “LOCK”.
  • Over the next ten seconds, the controls on the communicator are pressed with the lock open and the loudspeaker crossed out. These buttons must be held for 3 seconds.
  • To confirm, the siren will sound twice and the LED light will stop blinking.

In Sheriff ZX 750 systems, the mode is deactivated as follows:

How to disable Valet mode

Each instruction manual for a security alarm installed in a car contains a description of how to turn this service option on/off. So, if you wish, you can study this section and act accordingly.

But, as they say, everything happens in life and it may happen that either such a section is missing in the instructions, or, even worse, the instructions themselves are lost.

Then you should perform standard actions. Although each security system has individual characteristics, their main capabilities are usually common. Therefore, it is in principle possible to disable Valet, but it will not be as fast as we would like.

To exit this mode, do the following:

  • sit in the passenger compartment and again perform the steps described above with the ignition. Moreover, you need to act quickly, otherwise everything will have to start all over again;
  • determine the location of the Valet push-button switch (this should be known from the instructions, if not, then you must find out where it was installed);
  • after 10 seconds have passed after the ignition has been turned off, you need to press this button for 2 seconds and then release it;
  • Next, you should hear two or more short alarm beeps, the light emitting diode (LED) will turn on and off twice. Valet is disabled, car alarm is working.

Requirement of a PIN code

The “Valet” mode is not the only thing the service button controls. It is also used to disable security without a key fob: just open the door with the key, turn on the ignition and hold down the Valet button for two seconds. If the PIN code is not set by the owner, the car will be disarmed.

Now imagine how much time a car thief will spend pulling out the door rod and turning the ignition lock cylinder. Without a given pin code, Sherkhan is not able to protect against even the most primitive hacking, and this must be remembered.

Valet on telematic alarms and mobile applications

The first family of Scher-Khan alarms with telematic capabilities was Universe - controversial and at the time of its debut, which caused not the most flattering reviews, since Universe 1 worked in pure Slave mode, without additional authorization mechanisms - wearable tags appeared only in Universe 2.

However, this is not relevant to the topic of the article. As for the service mode, its management has been changed. The “Sherkhan” alarm system, which does not have its own key fob, can turn on the “Valet” function (renamed here to the “Car Service” mode) through a mobile application, the “Commander” interior unit or via a GSM channel (by call or SMS).

On the mobile app, drag the screen to the left to display the side menu. In it, select the appropriate item (we will leave the phrase “Enable car service” to the conscience of the authors). After this, all that remains is to confirm your choice.

Without a mobile application, you can simply call the SIM card number installed in the central alarm unit and dial the appropriate command. The system is put into the “Car Service” mode with the command *6#, and removed using *3#. We type the same commands on the Commander interior module, which has built-in alarm control LEDs. Please note that in both cases

the alarm will ask you to enter a secret PIN code. Unlike other Scher-Khan systems, here the PIN code is initially set at the factory and is indicated on the plastic card included with the security system.

Control of Universe systems is also possible through the manufacturer’s Internet portal, but it does not provide a function for switching to service mode, unlike portals from other companies.

For Mobicar alarms, the mobile application connects to the alarm not via the Internet, but via Bluetooth. Therefore, the company has released its own application for them, which differs in interface from the one made for Universe.

And control of the service mode is placed in a separate menu item.

Here, fortunately, the menu is written out more clearly, and after selecting the “Enable Auto Service mode” item, no confirmation is needed. The color of the machine icon changes, indicating that the service mode is activated, and the window title also indicates this.

In service mode, the alarm retains all the capabilities of monitoring the status through a mobile application, and the functionality of the driver call button in the cabin is also maintained.

How to turn off different alarms

Despite the fact that the number of steps to disable the security transport system from different manufacturers is almost the same, there are nevertheless certain differences, which we will now introduce you to.

It is considered one of the most common. So, to unlock it, you need to perform the following manipulations:

  • Get inside the car (open with the key).
  • Turn the ignition key.
  • Press the Valet button and turn off the ignition.
  • Perform the procedure again.

As a result, the alarm will go into service mode (no longer making such unpleasant sounds), with the help of which you can determine the cause of the malfunction.

To disable this car security system, you need to follow the following simple steps:

If you performed all operations correctly, the system will notify you with two sound signals.

Sheriff

With the Sheriff, things are a little different. Depending on the type of this anti-theft system, emergency shutdown methods vary somewhat.

In most cases, in order to deactivate the alarm, it is enough to turn on the ignition and press the emergency button. After turning off the ignition, the system, as a rule, no longer shows signs of life.

Panther

To tame this predator, it is enough to repeat all the above steps. Similar measures are appropriate to use in the case of the CL-600 model.

All lucky owners of the CLK-450 version will have to resort to the procedure of entering a security code by pressing the treasured Valet button. This action is performed with the ignition on. The entry of each character anticipates the opening and closing of the ignition circuit with the key.

Alligator

Step-by-step instructions for disabling the Alligator models L430, L530, L730 without a password:

  • open the door locks using the car’s “original” key - if the car is on the alarm, alarms should sound;
  • turn the lock to ACC position;
  • after 5 seconds, press the Valet key once;
  • start the engine.

For models similar to M425, a custom code option is used:

  • click the key several times - the number of presses is the same as the initial digit of the pin;
  • After 5 seconds, start the engine.

For models M725, M2000, S400, the service procedure is as follows:

  • open the door locks with the key - if the siren is turned on, alarm signals will sound, turn signals and interior lighting will start flashing;
  • activate the ignition;
  • after 5 seconds, press the Valet button to deactivate the siren;
  • start the engine.

Also, the Alligator alarm models described above can be disabled on the car via a code. The procedure is similar to M425.

If the password is entered incorrectly three times, the anti-theft system will be temporarily blocked.

The Alligator alarm on models similar to the D-810 can be turned off in two ways: coded or using the Valet button. The choice of code mode is enabled by option number 9 (for more details, see the user manual, in the Programmable Functions section).

Starline

The sequence of actions for putting the Starline alarm model 525 into sleep mode:

  • open car doors;
  • turn the ignition;
  • hold the Valet button for 5 seconds

After this, 1 beep should sound and the indicator should start blinking more slowly, which will confirm the transition to sleep mode. You must immediately turn off the ignition and turn it on after 5 seconds.

On a Starline model like Twage A8, turning off without the 2W5BLED key fob is done differently - press the Valet button four times in a row. You don't need to do anything else, just turn off the ignition. You can verify the correctness of the actions by a sound signal: the system will automatically notify you of self-shutdown with two sound signals and short flashing of the side headlights.

To disable the premium Starline alarm system with multi-stage protection type A6 and similar, you cannot do without decoding. This is done by clicking on the “Jack” button with the number of repetitions corresponding to Pin-1. Then you need to turn off and turn on the ignition again. After 5 seconds, press the button again. Simultaneously with turning off the ignition, the signaling system is also unlocked.

Tomahawk

To turn off the Tomahawk alarm system of the popular model RL950LE without a 434MHZ remote control, you need to do this:

  • sit in the driver's seat, turn the key;
  • click the Valet button four times;
  • turn off the ignition.

Successful unlocking can be confirmed by two beeps and flashing side lights.

Cenmax

Disabling the alarm from Cenmax is done using this method:

  1. After opening the door, you need to activate the ignition, press the emergency deactivation button 4 times,
  2. Then start the ignition.

If unlocking is successful, the alarm will emit 3 sound and 3 light signals.

Falcon tis-010

To enable the service mode on the Falcon tis 010 immobilizer, you need to enter the identification PIN code and follow these instructions:

  1. Open the door.
  2. Turn on the ignition.
  3. Press the secret button three times.
  4. Wait for the light indication and determine how many times the indicator flashes. When the number of blinks matches the code, you must click on “Valet”.
  5. The action is repeated for the remaining numbers.
  6. If the indicator does not beep and the “Jack” button indication does not turn off, then everything has been done correctly.

If you want to disable the alarm system for a long time when transferring the car to other hands or a service center, you can use the built-in “Valet” function. The Falcon tis 010 immobilizer has a “disarm” mode.

APS-7000

The shutdown algorithm consists of the following actions:

  1. Gaining access to the salon.
  2. Removing protection using the remote control.
  3. Starting the ignition circuit.
  4. Hold down the Valet button.

Sherkhan

You can disable the Sherkhan series car alarm using this method:

  1. Having gained access to the interior using the key, you need to turn the ignition circuit to the “on” position 4 times.
  2. Next you need to turn off the ignition.

If these steps are performed correctly, the car will turn off the sound signal and flash its lights.

Leopard

To deactivate the alarm, a coding method is used. You can also turn it off using emergency mode.

With the classic method, you will need to open the car, turn the ignition key to “on” and press “Valet” three times. If the system requests a code, it must be entered by pressing the service button as many times as indicated in the code.

Starline does not respond due to problems with the key fob

There are cases when the complex does not execute commands due to malfunctions of the control panel. Most often, the problem is a dead battery in the main key fob. Due to a weak signal, the dialogue code does not reach the radio transmitter or is distorted. Accordingly, the central processor cannot recognize it.

It is also worth remembering that in urban conditions the range of the key fob will significantly decrease due to the presence of numerous interference.

The Valet button on the Starline alarm system does not work

The Valet service key is important for the security system. With its help, you can enter programming mode, emergency shutdown of the system, or reset settings to factory settings. Reason No. 1 why it may not work on Starline A9 models and other kits is the lack of a physical connection, that is, a broken circuit.

To check, it is worth disconnecting the alarm unit from the car and inspecting it. There should be no cracks or mechanical damage on the housing. Next, you need to ring using a circuit tester for the Valet button and LED. Most likely, this is the reason. After identifying poor contact or its absence, you should solder the wires and insulate the connection.

StarLine alarm key fob does not respond to button presses

Owners of the Starline A94 system sometimes complain that the remote control does not respond to key presses. In this case, it is advisable to check whether the key fob button block is turned on by mistake. Entering this mode occurs by clicking on the second and fourth keys. After this, a short signal will sound and the display will show “Block”. Unlocking occurs after a short click on the first and fourth buttons.

Also, the reason for the lack of response (in addition to a dead remote control battery) may be faulty and sticky buttons. In this case, you need to disassemble the remote control (remove the back cover, remove the battery, and then unscrew the fastening bolt and disconnect the case) and clean the contact points of the buttons with the board. If this does not help, then you can order spare keys and install them in place of the old ones using a soldering kit.

Cursor control of the security system

You can control the vehicle operating modes and additional functions of the key fob with an LCD display using the cursor method.

  • Starline car alarms: operating instructions, installation, reviews

To control, you need to press and hold button 3 once until a flashing icon responsible for a specific function appears on the screen. To activate or disable the icon, you must press key 1 (on) or 2 (off). The cursor is moved across the icons on the screen by briefly pressing button 3 once.
