New items
Noteworthy is the original module to the left of the steering wheel, which contains control sensors: low and high beams, parking lights, fog lights, headlight adjustment controls, and instrument brightness. There is also a duplicate button that opens the luggage compartment
The main one is located under the driver’s right hand, near the gear shift lever. It is characteristic that the trunk lid can only be opened from the passenger compartment: the lock on the lid itself has been eliminated, and in its place is a smooth surface. The windshield and rear windows are sealed using the most modern technologies, which creates the impression of a complete monolithic fusion of the body and the glass.
Pros and cons of the clearance operation
Is there really a need to tune the suspension, and will such a change damage the car? Before installing aluminum spacers under the springs, let’s pay attention to the positive aspects of the changes:
- protection of the rear suspension, underbody and crankcase from breakdowns;
- protection of the rear wheels from impacts on the fender liner;
- increasing the vehicle's off-road capability.
The disadvantages of installing a spacer under the springs with your own hands include:
- failure of the lower shock absorber mounting;
- additional load on the bottom bracket;
- car instability on an icy surface;
- impairment of vehicle controllability due to a shift in the center of gravity;
- rapid wear of steering parts;
- imbalance of wheel alignment.
After tuning, the car owner needs to pay more attention to the suspension in general and shock absorbers in particular.
Ways to increase clearance
It should be noted that people find benefits not only in increasing clearance, but also in reducing it. For example, by reducing ground clearance, motorists achieve a reduction in car roll to the right or left when cornering at high speed. However, if you are not a racer or do not have a passion for driving fast, then the idea of increasing the ground clearance is more suitable for you.
How we will increase the clearance depends on its final length planned by us. At the same time, the ways to influence the ground clearance of the Lada will be different, and some of them will affect the improvement of other characteristics of the car.
Installing spacers on a car
Spacers are parts installed between the car body and its racks. They are attached directly to the support. Since so many motorists resort to increasing ground clearance, some manufacturers include spacers directly with the car struts.
However, if you do not find them while inspecting your existing factory parts, do not despair. Spacers can be found in any automotive market. Just don't expect any incredible miracles from them. The ground clearance will increase by only 12-15 mm. Although this is not enough when crossing deep holes and potholes, it can quite help out during a meeting with a speed bump.
Dimensions of the restyled Lada Priora
have not changed significantly.
Although, due to the new front and rear bumpers, the length of the Lada Priora
has changed by several millimeters.
Still restyling Lada Priora sedan
has the longest length, which in the new version is 4,350 mm. The length of the station wagon is 1 centimeter shorter, but the Priora hatchback is even smaller, the length of this version of the body is 4210 mm. The width of the entire family is 1,680 mm and the wheelbase is the same for all 2,492 mm. But everyone’s height is different, the Lada Priora sedan is 1,420 mm, the hatchback is 1,435 mm, but the station wagon is generally 1,508 mm in height. The high height of the Priora station wagon is explained by the presence of roof rails. In a hatchback, the design of the rear part of the body is such that the car turns out to be taller than a sedan.
Regarding the ground clearance or ground clearance of the Lada Priora
, then the manufacturer indicates a figure of 165 mm for the sedan and hatchback, and
for the Lada Priora station wagon the ground clearance is 170 mm
. However, in fact, the ground clearance is greater; just pick up a tape measure and make sure of this. But the manufacturer is not mistaken; he simply indicates the vehicle’s ground clearance when fully loaded. At the same time, manufacturers of foreign cars are cunning and indicate the ground clearance of their cars in an unloaded state. therefore, the real ground clearance of foreign cars and their official data often do not coincide.
Luggage compartment volumes
In the new version of Lada Priora, little has changed in all three bodies. The sedan's trunk volume is 430 liters. The luggage compartment volume of the Priora hatchback is smaller, only 306 liters, but if you fold the rear seats (which cannot be done in a sedan), the volume increases to 705 liters. In the Priora station wagon, the luggage compartment volume is 444 liters, and with the seats folded down it reaches 777 liters. Unfortunately, the rear seats do not fold flat with the floor, and the large wheel arches eat up quite a lot of luggage space.

Regarding the tire size of Lada Priora
, then the manufacturer recommends installing 14-inch wheels. The tire size can be 175/65 R14 or 185/60 R14 or 185/65 R14. The most interesting thing is that today, even on Lada Granta or Kalina in well-packaged trim levels, AvtoVAZ offers 15-inch wheels as standard. Why this is not the case on Priora is not clear, although this does not stop the owners of these cars, who put much larger wheels on their Lada Priora.
When purchasing a car, the future owner evaluates a number of indicators that must primarily meet the characteristics of the upcoming operation or the conditions of the region in which the car will be used. Considering the poor quality of roads in certain parts of Russia, such a parameter as vehicle clearance plays a fairly important role.
How to increase clearance yourself
You can increase the clearance yourself. Most often, special devices are used for this - spacers.
Selection of materials
Spacers to increase vehicle clearance are made from the following materials:
Each material has its own advantages and disadvantages.
Rubber spacers
- resistant to external influences in the form of acid, salt, alkali;
- do not affect vehicle handling and comfort in the cabin;
- do not have a corrosive effect on the car body;
- They are inexpensive on the car market.
- rapid wear;
- subject to deformation and damage.
Rubber spacers are secured under the springs.
Polyurethane spacers
In addition to the advantages of rubber, they have in addition:
- higher strength;
- can take a significant load without breaking;
- capable of smoothing out impacts from uneven road surfaces.
The disadvantages include:
- high pressure on the bushings;
- possibility of deformation of the car body.
These spacers are also suitable for installation under springs. They cost more than rubber ones, but cheaper than metal ones.
Aluminum spacers
All of the above advantages of other materials are more pronounced in aluminum spacers. In addition, they do not wear out for a long time.
The only significant drawback is the possibility of corrosive effects upon contact with the car body. They are usually attached at the junction of the shock absorbers with the car.
ABS plastic
Currently, it is the most acceptable material for spacers in the automotive market. It has all the advantages of previous models, but without their disadvantages.
Plastic spacers are placed under the springs.
Installing spacers on the front of the car
Installation of spacers at the front of the machine is carried out according to the following instructions:
- The car is jacked up and the wheel is removed.
- Disconnect the brake hoses and unscrew a couple of nuts from the front strut, having previously tightened the springs with a tie.
- The stand is removed by unscrewing the nuts from the upper support.
- Old bolts are replaced with new ones of longer length.
- The spacer is bolted and assembled in the reverse order. If there is interference from the transverse pillar, it is supported with a second jack.
- All the same actions are repeated with the second wheel.
Installing rear spacers
Installation of spacers on the rear of the car is carried out according to the following instructions:
- The thresholds from the rear doors of the car and under the luggage compartment lid are removed.
- The rear seats move forward as much as possible. Remove the trim from the trunk and sides, completely exposing the body.
- Raise the car from behind with a jack and remove the wheel.
- Tighten the nuts from above and below, remove the support.
- Old bolts are replaced with new ones of longer length.
- Attach the spacer to the bolts and reassemble in the reverse order.
- metal spacers must undergo anti-corrosion treatment;
- if a passenger car has front-wheel drive, it should not be raised higher than 20 mm;
- in 80% of cases it is advisable to install spacers both above and below the spring for synchronization;
- when installing spacers at the rear, you need to take into account the angle of the car (it is better not to raise it by more than 30 mm);
- if you increase the clearance by more than 30 mm, there may be problems with cambering the car;
- The spacers must be supplied with bolts and studs of appropriate size.
Configurations and price of Lada Priora station wagon
It is worth noting that the price of the most affordable Lada Priora station wagon
in the “norm” configuration today is
384 thousand rubles
, at the same time the most affordable sedan is offered for 364 thousand, and the hatch can be bought for 369,700. In the “luxury” configuration, a station wagon can be bought for 458,300 rubles, a sedan for 449,700 rubles, and the Priora hatchback in the same configuration has a price of 454,500 rubles. That is, the more expensive the equipment, the smaller the difference in price between different body versions.
Today the luxury version of Lada Priora station wagon
has all the necessary options. In terms of safety, the car is equipped with front and side airbags, ABS, exchange rate stability systems, rain and light sensors, advanced seat belts, and special energy-absorbing inserts have appeared in the bumpers. In terms of comfort, Lada Priora station wagon buyers are offered a multimedia system with a large screen in the center console, climate control, and cruise control. Light alloy wheels measuring 14 inches.
But even in the “norm” configuration, the car’s equipment is quite good. So, all cars already have a driver airbag, rear seat head restraints, an ISOFIX child seat mounting system, and an anti-lock brake system with emergency brake assist (ABS and BAS). Instead of the latest electric one, they offer a traditional hydraulic booster, steel wheels, and a full-size spare wheel. Of course there is no multimedia system, but there is audio preparation. As noted above, roof rails on the Lada Priora station wagon
present in all restyled cars.
- “Norm” package 5 (98 hp) – 384,000 rubles

Detailed video review of the restyled version of Lada Priora.
Power point
The Lada Priora engine is a repeatedly proven and tested VAZ-21104 power unit with a volume of 1.6 liters and a power of 98 hp. With. with four valves per cylinder. Alternatively, the 21128 engine (1.8 liter capacity, 120 hp power) can be installed, but this can only happen as part of the Italian Lada Priora tuning. Separately, it must be said that for this engine there was an attempt to improve the gas distribution mechanism by using a timing belt and a tension roller from Federal Mogul with a service life guarantee of 200 thousand kilometers for these parts. No one believes in such a resource, including the company itself, but they made a replacement, which they soon regretted.
Devices
Between the front seats there is a small console in the form of an armrest with two ditches for small items, which is very convenient, since usually small things like women's hair pins are scattered throughout the cabin. A lamp combined with a pocket for glasses is mounted in the ceiling at the upper edge of the windshield. The instrument panel includes all the necessary gauges, dials and various indicators. The instruments are arranged rationally, their readings are easy to read, and the dimmed illumination of the instrument panel allows you to see all the necessary information in the dark. In the center of the upper part of the dashboard there is a display of the on-board trip computer, on which you can see the odometer readings, fuel consumption parameters in several modes, average speed and time readings in several time zones.
Anti-corrosion materials
Slightly more than half of all body parts for Priora are made of galvanized and anodized metal, low-alloy grades. And the parts most susceptible to corrosion - wheel arches, body floors, sills - are made of steel, galvanized using hot-coating technology. The high anti-corrosion properties of the Lada Priora body are supported by high-quality painting using a multi-layer primer. The anti-corrosion properties of the car body are guaranteed by the manufacturer for a 6-year service life.

Geometry and role of CT
The set of distances between certain points on the body of domestic cars and foreign cars is called geometry. The distances between the body points of Priora, VAZ 2106, 2107, 21099, 2110, Peugeot 605, BMW E34 and other car models provide for the exact position of all elements of the car frame. Even a small shift of certain dimensions will already affect the operation of certain components and mechanisms that are fixed directly to the frame itself.
Note. Control points or CTs known to many experts are the dimensions of doorways, the distance between the CTs of the engine compartment and trunk. Using these very points, the expert seems to read the condition of the body, determine whether the geometry is broken and to what extent.
The steps between the side members, shock-absorbing cups and other components of the car frame of the Priora, Lanos, Kalina, VAZ models 2106, 2107, 21099 and 2110 are considered the most important, since the body in these areas plays a supporting role for the elements of the chassis system.
Lowering the car: why and how to do it
Lowering the suspension is usually done to style the car and give it a more daring look. Such tuning makes the car tougher, but nevertheless remains popular. You can lower the VAZ 2170 in the following ways:
- Installing air suspension (the most expensive method). Complete reworking of the chassis. The result is a lowered car that can be raised if desired.
- Chassis with adjustable clearance (also expensive). Here, the degree of compression of the springs is adjusted automatically.
- Installation of low profile tires. Low-profile tires are definitely not suitable for bumps, but you won’t have to modify the chassis.
- Shortening (sawing off) springs. This is a budget method - you only need to saw off 1.5 turns in the front, 2 turns in the back.
Trunk volume of Lada Priora hatchback: size and characteristics
Lada Priora is considered one of the most expensive domestic cars, and it is also the most purchased car, since, according to car enthusiasts, it has stood the test of time. It is less expensive and its maintenance will be budget-friendly. Favorable price, attractive appearance and high power attract buyers.
When the driver has already decided on the brand of the car, you need to decide what equipment you want. Lada Priora is a car for young people. Of course, you want to choose a car worthy of your garage. This car has four configurations, but the most popular are the sedan and hatchback. There are also such types of equipment as station wagon and coupe. You must take the choice of car seriously, study all the characteristics well and choose the car that suits you. This is the only way you will understand the difference between analogues.
Explore the “insides” of the Lada Priora. For example, a hatchback will have a huge advantage with a high-quality immobilizer and trip computer, electric power steering, etc.
Sedan
What does a driver need to understand? A sedan is a configuration in which the trunk in the cabin is linearly separated by a partition. The most popular body type among cars. It differs in its dimensions (in millimeters):
- it is longer - 4350;
- height – 1420;
- width – 1680.
It is worth paying attention to the ground clearance (clearance) - 165 mm and the track width of the front and rear wheels - 1410 and 1380 mm, respectively. The trunk can fit about 430 liters of cargo
In terms of the amount of fuel consumed, both the sedan and the hatchback are almost the same.
Hatchback
The domestic manufacturer produces better and better cars each time, as it takes into account the mistakes of previous models.
The hatchback differs in its dimensions from the sedan (in millimeters):
- length – 4210;
- width – 1680;
- height – 1435;
- The ground clearance and track width of the rear and front wheels are the same as those of the sedan.
The hatchback is considered the most spacious, according to Autoreview magazine. What is the trunk volume of the most popular Lada Priora hatchback? It is very similar to the sedan, but it has a smaller trunk and a shorter rear overhang. This body type, when compared with the Lada Priora sedan, is smaller, but if you look more closely, it is very roomy. Its dimensions are (mm):
- length – 910, and with the sofa folded – 1700;
- width – 1500, between wheel arches – 930;
- the size from the floor to the trunk shelf is 523, and the loading area is 720.
Unfortunately, the hatchback has a capacity of only 360 liters of various cargo, but the driver can fold down the rear seats, which significantly increases the volume of the car up to 705 liters! And this is a lot.
Station wagon
Today, three types of bodies are produced: sedan, hatchback and station wagon. Since you already know everything about the first two, we’ll tell you about the station wagon. This is a very practical car, the luggage compartment is spacious enough to carry large loads, and you can easily convert the rear seat into a bed.
If you look at this type of body from a technical point of view, its volume is 444 liters, and with the sofa folded - about 800 liters (up to the level of the windows).
Characteristics of the trunk volume of the station wagon (mm):
- width – 1500, between wheel arches – 930;
- length – 985 and 1640 with the sofa folded;
- the distance from the floor to the trunk shelf is 560, and to the lid – 845;
- trunk door opening size – 820.
The station wagon car itself has very serious dimensions (mm):
- in length is 4340;
- width – 1680;
- in height – 1508;
- ground clearance - 170.
Now the Lada is considered the most expensive among the Priors, but the price of the car is equivalent to its quality. You won't be able to find a cheaper station wagon among foreign cars.
Dimensions of VAZ 2170 and other modifications of Priors
The dimensions of the car are something that needs to be taken into account when purchasing, since the dimensions of parking spaces, garages, turns or entrance arches are not always universal. The height is measured from the extreme point of the front to the extreme point of the rear bumper. The width is measured at the widest point, and the height is measured from the surface of the ground to the highest point of the roof. Roof rails and racks do not fit into the height of the body. Taking this into account, the dimensions of the Priora are as follows:
- The longest body of cars in this family is the sedan. It measures 4350 mm in length. But at the same time it is the lowest - 1420 mm. in height.
- The next longest is the station wagon, with its 4340 mm length. It is the highest in height – 1508 mm.
- The five-door hatchback and three-door coupe are the shortest - 4210 mm. at 1435 mm. in height.
In all four cases, the width of the Priora is the same - 1680 mm
Ground clearance is 165 mm, although in the Priora Sport configuration it is slightly reduced, but this is no longer so important, since this car is no longer produced in this version
Installation of springs of different lengths and stiffness
The amount of ground clearance of a car directly depends on the installed spring. The body rests on it, and not only how much the car will rise above the road, but also the operation of the entire suspension depends on its rigidity and length. There are several options for springs on the Lada Priora. These are classes “A” and “B”, the first one is considered the more severe. In addition, there are several types of springs that were installed directly at the factory at different times.
When choosing springs, you should always look for a reasonable compromise, since installing an overly stiff part and using it on an unloaded car will not allow the suspension to work smoothly, and the car will bounce on every bump.
One of the options for increasing ground clearance is to install intercoil spacers on the spring. These elements do not allow the spring to compress completely, and the stiffness of the suspension increases. However, at the same time, the compression of the shock absorber is limited, which reduces the smoothness and comfort of the vehicle's suspension. This method is justified when using the car on bad roads, since it additionally helps prevent breakdown of the suspension and protect the shock absorber and spring from destruction.
Another simple way to increase ground clearance is to install a spacer under the spring between the body and the spring. This part, made of high-strength rubber, easily copes with the pressure of the vehicle's weight on it, while the suspension settings practically do not change. You need to understand that if the spring sag, installing such a spacer will not be able to increase the rigidity of the part. Therefore, the spring must be changed.

When choosing spacers to increase ground clearance, you should be guided by the following principles:
p, blockquote 47,0,0,0,0 —>
they must be performed on factory equipment. You cannot purchase spacers of dubious origin;
the installation instructions must indicate the car models to which this design is suitable;
When determining the maximum thickness of the spacers, it is necessary to measure the vehicle's ground clearance. Then, using reference books, find the standard value (factory value) of ground clearance. For example, the measured value was 200 mm, found in reference books - 210 mm. In this case, the maximum thickness of the spacer will be 210 - 200 + 50 = 60 millimeters, that is, 6 centimeters;
it is advisable to install front and rear spacers at the same time, since such installation minimally disrupts the stability of the car;
It is necessary to check the technical condition of the installed inserts at least once every six months before the start of the winter and summer seasons of car operation.

Hello, dear friends! Are you bored? Me too. Today we are considering a rather interesting issue - spacers to increase ground clearance.
I know that car owners often try, on the contrary, to lower the car, to make it as low as possible. But you yourself understand who is doing this. Especially when it comes to cars such as VAZ 2109, 2110, etc.
Take any car, Peugeot, Honda, Opel, Mazda, Nissan, Toyota, Audi. Only a few of them have really high ground clearance, that is, ground clearance. And then, this mainly applies to crossovers. I agree that cars like Renault Logan and Skoda Octavia Tour are high. But the Chevrolet Lacetti, Ford Focus, Kia Sid or Rio, Mazda 3, Hyundai Accent, Volkswagen Passat sometimes clearly do not reach the height that is needed for our roads.
It is the poor quality of roads that forces car owners to change their clearance sizes. One method is spacers. They are installed in the rear and front wheels. Moreover, many do it with their own hands. A bunch of relevant training videos to help you.
Buying yourself a set of spacers is not as expensive as completely changing the springs or replacing a set of wheels with a larger diameter. Although spacers have their drawbacks.
Design parameters Priorities affecting ground clearance
When analyzing geometric parameters, it should be understood that some of them, such as the wheelbase, remain unchanged, while others will depend on the type of body.
The general characteristics of the car are as follows (with the exception of the coupe body):
- wheelbase - 2475 mm (for sedan cars - minus 5 mm);
- front wheel track - 1440 mm;
- rear wheel track - 1410 mm.
Car dimensions
A car with a hatchback body has the following individual characteristics:
- total length of the car - 3905 mm;
- front overhang - 770 mm;
- rear overhang - 660 mm.
The Priora variant with station wagon and sedan bodies has the following characteristics:
- total length of the car - 4040 mm;
- front overhang - 740 mm;
- rear overhang - 830 mm.
A car with a coupe body has the following indicators:
- the total length of the car is 4210 mm in the basic version or 4243 mm in the more expensive version;
- wheelbase - 2492 mm.
But the manufacturer does not indicate the car’s overhangs as a sportier option.
Analyzing the presented indicators, the Lada Priora with a hatchback body is better than other options that allow the use of a ground clearance of 165 mm. With a short body, a large wheelbase allows for good cross-country ability. The only warning for the driver is the need to carefully park near high curbs, especially if the car is fully loaded.
Difficult to drive off-road
A car with a coupe body, due to its long wheelbase and large front overhang, cannot be used as a conqueror of forest roads and country lanes. This is still a purely asphalt car. At the same time, you need to be careful about both large potholes and overcoming artificial bumps. Priora has no protruding elements or inconveniently placed components that could negatively affect the maintenance of ground clearance.
General characteristics of the car
Standard wheel clearance
Few passenger cars can match SUVs in terms of ground clearance, but high ground clearance is only important in combination with other vehicle characteristics. If we consider the Priora’s ground clearance, then, on the one hand, everything is very clear here: this figure for this model is 165 mm. But in order to assess its sufficiency, it is necessary to additionally consider the following characteristics:
- total length of the vehicle;
- front and rear overhang length;
- wheelbase;
- vehicle track width;
- the presence of protruding elements under the bottom of the car;
- change in ground clearance for a fully loaded car.

New Priora, or Priora 2
From this article, you will learn about the main changes and restyling of the Lada Priora car (2014), “Norma+” configuration. Visually, the car has not changed much, that is, those people who are not particularly versed in domestic cars will not notice the difference.
The most pronounced change in the appearance of the Priora is the front and rear bumpers. Their appearance has acquired a sporty character, and looks very good, which the domestic auto industry rarely boasts of.
What can you say about the engine? Here we were not pleased with anything, the same 16-valve engine with a capacity of 98 “horses”, which, in principle, has proven itself well.
But the manufacturer promises that the luxury package will have a new engine, with more power, improved dynamics, variable length of the intake manifold and other features.
Let's pay attention to the interior; we can immediately say that the main changes took place here. The upholstery is made in black tones from the same material, the same can be said about plastic
This configuration has a touch screen, like on Kalina, we will not pay special attention to it. The instrument panel has also not changed very much: on the left is the tachometer, below it is the temperature sensor indicator, and on the right is the speedometer. Between them is an on-board computer, such as on the 2nd Kalina. Everything is clear, simple and ergonomic.
Also included in the package is air conditioning, electric mirrors (heated), fog lights, and two power windows. The steering wheel has been modified, it looks almost the same as that of the Granta, and the panel has a conveniently located “hands-free” button that works via Bluetooth. One of the significant advantages is the heated windshield - an excellent option for the Russian climate. The gearbox is unchanged. In general, the restyling did not cause negative emotions, although car enthusiasts expected more.
Good decision
The interior of the Lada Priora, whose ground clearance required a fairly high landing, was developed in the Italian city of Turin, in the Cancerano engineering design studio. The interior is dominated by the modern style of automotive interior design. It was possible to eliminate the shortcomings of past design developments in the interior of the 110th model. The exterior design has also undergone changes. The overly accentuated border zone between the roof and the rest of the body along the C-pillar line was abolished. The rear wheel arches of the Lada Priora have acquired a more aesthetic appearance. The solid strip of rear lights, which looked somewhat ridiculous on a compact car, was canceled; instead, two vertically developed lights stood along the edges of the trunk lid, visually expanding the exterior. In general, the designers managed to move away from the common image of an “antelope in position,” which was what people called the “ten” as soon as it appeared on Russian roads. And the Lada Priora, whose technical characteristics, ground clearance, wheelbase, dimensions and body contours indicated that a successful solution had been found in terms of the main parameters, did not raise any doubts.
Options
"Lada Priora" is sold in the basic "norm" configuration, which includes: an airbag for the driver, electric power steering, central locking with a remote signal, a steering column with a height adjuster, an electric two-position drive for front door windows, an on-board computer, a software immobilizer, electronic clock, rear seat headrests, rear seatback with armrests, headlight range control.
The VAZ Priora is equipped with a modern heating and ventilation system, which allows you to maintain a given microclimate in the cabin, and also ensures instant defogging of the windows. Although fogging is extremely rare, since all the windows in the car are athermal, and the rear one is electrically heated. Active safety is not provided in the “norm” configuration; the ABS system is installed on the car in the luxury configuration (since 2008). The same can be said for automatic brake force distribution - the EBD system. The “Lux” set also includes air conditioning, power windows for all four doors, and an airbag for the front passenger seat. The “luxury” version can be distinguished by stylish fog lights integrated into the front bumper, parking sensor indicators, heated exterior rearview mirrors painted in body color,
Clearance, on which a lot depends
"Lada Priora", technical characteristics, ground clearance, wheelbase, the length and width of which were balanced in the best possible way, began to be in steady demand. At the same time, in 2008, simultaneously with the “Lux” package, a modification of the Lada Priora hatchback appeared, the ground clearance of which was lowered to 145 mm. A lot depends on the ride height. Therefore, the ground clearance of the Priora hatchback was calculated for the standard load of this body type. Based on the full load, 145-155 mm of ground clearance is sufficient for a hatchback car. The ground clearance of the Priora station wagon required different values, since the carrying capacity of a car with such a body is much higher than that of conventional passenger cars. And when the trunk and rear of the cabin are loaded to the maximum, the entire chassis sags. Therefore, the Lada Priora station wagon model, the ground clearance of which required a high landing, received a ground clearance of 165 mm. The situation is different with the ground clearance of sedan cars, since this is the most common body type. The clearance of the Priora sedan is calculated according to the general standard for passenger cars. From the most protruding point under the bottom of the car (usually the muffler body) to the road surface, the distance should be at least 135 cm. For most AvtoVAZ models, the ground clearance is 165 mm, and for the Lada Priora an increase in ground clearance is not required.
Geometry violations
Different cars can have completely different values between CTs. Domestic models, such as Priora, Niva, 2106, 2107, 21099 and 2110, as a rule, have their own values. Manufacturers of foreign cars Peugeot, Opel, Nexia, Lanos may set other values.
The geometry of the body can be disrupted for a number of reasons. As a rule, most problems arise during active use of the car on roads with uneven surfaces, regularly overcoming obstacles and due to accidents.
Depending on the reason that influenced the design change, the standard values between CT scans are also transformed. In other words, if a car like a Peugeot 605 or Lanos accidentally hits a solid obstacle, the suspension takes the brunt of the impact. But other elements of the body are also deformed, taking on the influence of physical force. This happens in most cases gradually and unnoticed by the owner.
The incentive to carry out a qualified inspection usually appears before purchasing a used car. The buyer, fearing to be deceived, tries to thoroughly check all the shortcomings of the car. Determining the distances between CT scans helps him figure out whether the Priora he bought was in an accident or not.
And in general, the check will allow you to find out how the same Priora was operated throughout the entire time. In rare cases, the dimensions between CT scans are diagnosed in order to determine the quality of repairs carried out on the body.
Well, in vain, because in many cases a car that looks great has a deformed body. Thanks to modern advanced technologies and techniques, it is possible to “smooth” the body, making it attractive, without eliminating deformations. Unfortunately, many unscrupulous sellers take this step.
It is noteworthy that the most responsible car owners with some experience carry out measurements between CT scans regularly. And this is very true, since this process is part of the mandatory body care procedure.
Even after restoration work, owners of Priora or Peugeot 605 cars, as well as many other models, do not pay any attention to measurements, completely trusting the specialists from the service station. Then, when serious problems arise, they wonder why everything happened this way.
Disadvantages when installing spacers
- An upward shift in the center of gravity, and, as a result, deterioration in road handling.
- The entire calculated technology for reliable operation of the machine is violated. The data on camber, toe, setting the advance angle, and the angles of inclination of the rotary axis of the wheel will change.
- The steering will deteriorate due to its disconnection from the car’s suspension. Consequently, the service life of the entire unit will be reduced.
- Changing the position of the shock absorber (middle), as a result of which it may fail. The reason is that during movement the shock absorber cover is struck by the piston rod. In this case, the solution may be to use an attachment in the kit for the shock absorber itself, eliminating the discrepancy.
