As standard, basic VAZ 2114 models are equipped with conventional locking devices, factory marked 2108-6105012/13 for the front doors.

When they talk about a VAZ door lock as a single whole, they are making a serious mistake. In fact, it consists of several independent, structurally speaking, parts, each of which has its own functional purpose:

  • Internal door lock VAZ 2114. This is the main control mechanism.

— A cylinder is inserted into it, which is an element of the locking device, which has individual characteristics corresponding to the unlocking key of the car owner.

— It is controlled by pressing a button on the car door, locking or opening the lock through a mechanical rod.

— Mechanical opening rods are attached to it using an internal or external handle, and it is also possible to activate the central locking with a gear motor when installing an alarm system.

“He uses a special finger to control the external locking device.

  • External door lock for VAZ 2114. According to catalogs, it is listed as a door lock latch. Essentially, it is the actuator of the door locking mechanism, which, based on a mechanical signal, closes or opens the latch.

This design of the locking mechanism and the metal parts from which all its main parts are made lead to the fact that a fairly loud metallic clang is heard when the doors are closed. Now domestic silent locks for the VAZ 2114 have appeared on sale. The principle of their operation is quite simple. The metal latch and locking pin are covered with a special noise-insulating coating. This is usually plastic or rubber. The plastic coating is more wear-resistant and therefore more durable. Rubber creates better sound insulation, but wears out faster. In addition, parts of the locking device are treated with a special silicone lubricant, which does not freeze in the cold, retains elasticity and noise-insulating properties.

In general, when they talk about silent locks, they mean the external locking mechanism and the locking pin. Because only the latch of the external lock and the same locking pin are covered with a noise-insulating layer of plastic or rubber. The price for silent locks in this design is low - from 230 rubles per piece and rarely exceeds 1,400 rubles for a complete set.

Stores often offer a simplified version of a silent shutter. As a softening device, only the retainer finger covered with plastic is offered. This is, of course, cheaper, but does not completely solve the problem.

Installing silent locks on the VAZ 2114 is quite simple. To do this you need:

  1. prepare a set of ennobled locks with pins, a hammer and an impact screwdriver;
  2. open and lock the desired door;
  3. Unscrew the two bolts holding the outer lock. To do this, place an impact screwdriver on the top bolt and apply two gentle blows. If the bolt does not come out, repeat the procedure.

How to straighten car doors

The “old-fashioned” way is to fight sagging with your own hands. That is, we take our hands by the back of the door, where the lock is, not the hinges, and lift it up. The door should be slightly open so that you can comfortably grab it with your hands. First, apply a little effort and look at the result. If this is not enough, then we increase the effort according to the situation. If there is no effect at all, then try first slightly lifting the door (it will rise along with the body), and then sharply pull it up.

The same method can be applied using a jack. The door should also be slightly open. We place a jack under the edge of the door through a block so as not to bend the door. We lift the door in the same way, at first a little, if this is not enough, we increase the force.

As a rule, such methods solve the problem of sagging doors, but for a certain time. After bending the door like this, sooner or later it will still return to its initial sagging state. A more reliable method is to lay plates of a certain thickness:

How to make a castle with your own hands

The easiest way to make a silent lock yourself is to come up with a special coating for the latch pin on the machine body, which is the loop for the lock latch, because the greatest noise occurs when the latch goes behind the loop. To do this, you need half a meter of heat-shrinkable tubing, which can be bought at a radio parts store.

  1. Unscrew the pins from the fasteners that need to be upgraded.
  2. Cut the tube to the required size so that the thread remains free for tightening.
  3. Place the pipe on your finger and heat it with a hairdryer or lighter.
  4. Allow the tube to cool and settle on your finger, then put another tube on the already installed one, repeating the heating procedure.
  5. After the tube settles, trim the uneven ends.
  6. Install the improved pin into the retainer.

The silent loop is ready. After the homemade finger is installed, some problems may arise with closing the door, after all, the tubes are of abnormal thickness. Then the question arises - how to adjust the locks. This is also a fairly simple procedure that does not require special skills:

  • the fastening on the lock retainer, which is attached to the body, is slightly weakened;
  • the latch moves in the direction required for easy closing of the door. If the door sags when closing, the latch rises. If, on the contrary, the door rests and rises, you need to slightly lower the latch. In the same way, its position can be adjusted by moving the lock forward or backward.

Silent locks are a useful thing that save car owners nerves and increase the service life of door fasteners. However, in order for them to work well and for a long time, they need to be looked after and constantly monitored for the correct door adjustments.

Instructions for dismantling and replacing the mechanism

Buy a suitable device.
You can choose the appropriate part for your Lada Granta car. This is a good option because it has an electric drive and a limit switch. Unfortunately, when installing a part of this option, you will have to install your own fastening; you can make it from a small steel angle, for example, 40 * 40 * 4 mm. The corner can be cut with a suitable tool, for example, a grinder. It is important to take into account the dimensions of the purchased device, as well as the place where it will be installed. The manufactured metal part must be coated with a suitable color. Then plug the hole from the previously installed lock. To do this, you can use the plug from the manual window lifter.

It also needs to be painted the same color. If during installation of the product it was necessary to get rid of the wiper, you can use the wires coming from it and connect one to the drive of the part, and the second to the connector of the mounting block. Return the bracket and tighten the finished fixation device.

Why adjust doors?

The reasons for the door not working correctly will require action. If the structure begins to slam or bounce off the car rim when closing, it means a displacement has occurred. When there are preconditions for a malfunction of one of the doors, a visual inspection of the car is carried out. First with the doors closed, then with the doors open. The check will show whether there is skew, displacement or other changes in the streamlined shape of the vehicle. Nuances that require attention:

  1. When open, the height of both door fragments should be identical.
  2. The gaps are no more than 1–2 cm.
  3. Unnatural position of the loops. If this is caused by mechanical damage or shock, then simple adjustment will not help.

  5. The lock does not close well or the handle causes difficulty in operation.

Depending on the problem, an adjustment algorithm is determined. Serious sagging of the door after an accident will not be corrected by tightening the hinges, so it is necessary to straighten the automotive element.

Causes of problems opening the door

If incorrect operation of the VAZ 2115 design is noticed and the rear door does not open from the outside, then the reason lies in the locking mechanism or poor adjustment of the door fragment. The following factors indicate the need for repairs:

Having examined the condition of the hinges, a search for mechanical damage is carried out, the functionality of the opening mechanism and the operation of the lock cylinder are checked.

Adjusting the front or rear door

Setting up door cards is carried out in several stages. Experienced drivers take a comprehensive approach; they check gaps, re-adjust hinges, and inspect the locking and manual mechanism. There are several options for customizing the doors:

  1. Use a wrench to loosen the internal hinge screws. Tapping with a hammer is carried out so that the structure moves to the desired position. Then the fasteners are tightened back.
  2. To even out the gap, the hinge mechanism is also loosened in two places: top and bottom. The door needs to be raised/lowered by adjusting the height.
  3. The curvature of the metal can only be corrected by straightening.
  4. Adjusting the lock involves loosening the latch, then moving it up/down.
  5. The handle is being disassembled. If the internal screws are deformed, they are replaced.

When the door is in the correct position, the mounting bolts are tightened with a wrench. Then the functionality of the device is checked again.

Adjusting the handles

When repairing a VAZ 2114 and adjusting the door handle, you will need a 20mm screwdriver from your inventory. Disassembling the device will correct the incorrect service of this element. Step-by-step instruction:

  1. Remove the plug.
  2. Unscrewing the bolts.
  3. Handle recess.
  4. Disconnecting the retainer wires.
  5. Checking the mechanism.

If improper operation is caused by blockage, then the internal elements are cleaned and lubricating work is carried out. When assembling the device, do not tighten the screws too much, no more than four turns with a screwdriver.

Installation of silent locks

The Eurolock is installed on foreign car models, but they are suitable for domestic vehicles. Thanks to a special mechanism with a plastic coating, the door will close silently. To work you will need:

  • two wrenches: spanner, open-end;
  • drill, drill bits;
  • hammer;
  • file, pliers;
  • screwdrivers;
  • screws, screwdriver.

The lock is supplied with a Euro lock, which is mounted in the door post. Algorithm of actions:

  1. Unscrew the handle.
  2. Remove the panel trim.
  3. Disconnect wires and rods.
  4. Pull out the old lock.
  5. Install a new mechanism.

The device is fixed with self-tapping screws. To do this, drill holes in the rack using a drill. The fasteners are tightened using a screwdriver. Before adjusting the lock, it is recommended to outline the contours of the lock 14 (see Fig. 8.17) on the body pillar.

If the door closes too tightly, loosen the screws that secure the latch, move it outward, and tighten the screws. If the door does not close tightly, move the latch inward. In this case, there should be no retraction or protrusion of the door relative to the body.

If the door lifts when closing (sagging in the open position), lower the latch.

Guys, if they were just disassembling it about repairing a window regulator or installing speakers. My advice to you is that you can improve the design a little, namely, reduce its airflow. I advise you to read this article.

If you are not ready for such insulation, then you should apply ordinary thick cellophane to the metal, 0.3 mm is enough. We directly cut out the door according to the stencil and glue it to the metal (you can use double tape), after making holes for the handles and bolts. I have seen this on many foreign cars, they have it as a must!

What does this give us:

1) The door will not blow out as quickly during the cold period, which will give us a little more heat. The interior will warm up faster.

2) There will still be fewer crickets, because this layer will not allow plastic and metal to interact directly.

Personally tested on my former VAZ 2114, the interior is really warmer in winter.

1. Before starting work, you need to mark the position of the latch on the hood with a marker.


2. Using a screwdriver and a 17mm wrench, loosen the locknut.


3. Unscrew the locking nut and washer.


4. Using a screwdriver, remove the lock washer of the safety hook axis.


5. Then we take out the axle and remove the lever from the 2 plastic holders.

6. Remove the safety hook assembly with the drive lever.


7. Remove the upper end of the lock spring from the panel hole.


8. Disconnect the drive rod from the spring and remove it from the body panel.

9. Installation is carried out in reverse order.

Adjusting the hood lock on 2114, 2113, 2115.

The adjustment is made by changing the position of the lock latch.

1. Loosen the locknut and position the latch so that when closing the hood it fits exactly into the hole on the front panel.

Reasons for uneven and unequal gaps

It is important to correctly understand the reason for the uneven arrangement of panels and the gaps between them.

It is advisable to make sure that all structural elements of the body on which the panels are actually attached have the correct geometric parameters. If there are displacements and distortions, then it will not be possible to achieve even and symmetrical gaps, with the exception of minimal changes that can be compensated by adjusting the fastenings of the body panels. For example, if the engine compartment strip, on which the upper part of the radiator and the hood lock are attached, is displaced, then the gaps between the hood and the front fenders will be uneven and unequal.

It is necessary to make diagonal measurements of symmetrical points and, if necessary, eliminate the displacement by pulling in the desired direction.

Simpler reasons could be worn door hinges and sagging, missing one or more mounting bolts, misaligned locks, or simply an incorrectly installed body panel.
