Typical faults

We propose to consider the most common malfunctions of the rear lights of Renault Logan 1.

Pay. Despite the fact that the car was supposed to be a budget car, the designers took the reliability of the headlight board extremely seriously. The lamps are powered not by thin tracks or even wires, but literally by busbars, which are impossible to burn even if you insert a crowbar instead of a fuse and short-circuit them.

The only trouble that can happen is oxidation or burning of the cartridge contacts. We remove the light bulb, inspect the contacts, and clean if necessary. There may be another problem with the cartridge - sagging of the lower contact, which is also a preloading spring. If a correctly installed lamp “dangles,” then this contact needs to be slightly bent outward with an awl or a screwdriver.

Important! Before reaching into the socket with a screwdriver, be sure to remove one terminal from the battery. In the lamp socket, the marker/brake light of such spring contacts is 2

Connector A fairly common problem is burning of contacts. Typically, burning occurs when there is poor electrical contact between the block and its mating part on the circuit board of the lighting device. If the problem is noticed in time, then the contacts of the block can be put in order - cleaned, tightened, lubricated.

But if it burns out completely, you will have to replace the pad.

Such a block, of course, cannot be repaired.

Often, along with the block, the connector of the Renault Logan rear light board (part number 6001548137) also burns out. In this case, there is only one way out - buying a new board (there is a photo above), which costs around 1,500 rubles. Fuse.

More precisely, there are several fuses and each one is responsible for its own circuit. They are located in the mounting block, and the block itself can be found in the cabin to the left of the steering column.

The fuses with the following numbers are responsible for the headlight located at the rear of the car:

  • F03 – brake lights, reverse indicator;
  • F04 – direction indicators;
  • F18 – side lights, left side;
  • F19 – side lights, starboard;
  • F20 – rear fog lamp.

Finding them is not difficult - just look at the picture below.

Brake light switch. This problem, of course, only affects the brake indicators, which automatically turn on when you press the brake pedal. Their operation is controlled by a limit switch located under the brake pedal lever.

This is, in fact, an ordinary button with two contacts, and ringing it will not be a problem - you just need to know how to use a multimeter.

Reverse signal switch. Here the principle is the same as for brake lights, only the limit switch is not located in the passenger compartment, but is screwed into the gearbox. We engage reverse gear, a special rod inside the gearbox presses the limit switch - the reverse light comes on.

Location of the reverse indicator switch in Renault Logan 1

The problem is diagnosed in the same way - we disconnect the power supply from the limit switch, check with a multimeter with the reverse gear turned off and on.

Wiring. Basically, this is a violation of the insulation and a short circuit of the supply wire to the body. In this case, the fuse immediately burns out. If the circuit is “reliable,” then the new one will burn out immediately. If it is “floating”, it will burn out during the next trip (due to vibration). We carefully inspect the power harness of the faulty light fixture from the flashlight to the mounting block, look for frayed insulation, and fix it.

Causes of cigarette lighter failure

The device may stop working due to various factors. The main reasons for a malfunction of the Duster cigarette lighter are improper operation of the device or great age, or a blown fuse. Common breakdowns.

  1. A loose nest. Frequently connecting foreign electrical devices with a non-standard plug to the connector can bend the fixing antennae, causing the contact to disappear. Repairing the Duster cigarette lighter in this case is simple - you need to remove it from the socket and then bend the clamps inside the socket. To avoid short circuit, you must remove the fuse before this procedure.
  2. Oxidized contacts or plaque. Age-related disease. It may also appear after liquid gets on the legs. Because of this, the integrity of the circuit is compromised, and in extreme situations there is a risk of the fuse tripping and a short circuit. Repairing the cigarette lighter is simple - just rub the contact areas with sandpaper or a file, removing traces of foreign substances.
  3. Burnt fuse. The maximum current strength of this segment of the electrical circuit is 15 amperes. The maximum permissible power of connected devices is 180 Watt (p=I*A, 180 Watt = 12 volts*15 amperes). Due to a short circuit or exceeding the permissible value, this parameter may go out of range. To protect the wiring insulation from melting, the fuse on the Duster fails. The repair consists of getting to the mounting block. Next, replace the blown fuse.
  4. "Shorty." If the new fuse blows again, then it is obvious that there is a short circuit in the network. Turn off the ignition and then measure the battery voltage. Turn on the ignition and take measurements again. A difference of more than 0.5 volts is unacceptable - this is evidence of a short circuit and a tripped fuse. You should arm yourself with a multitester and test all the wires going to the device.
  5. Fallen cables. Due to age or intensive use, the wires on the Duster cigarette lighter may fray or fall off at the soldering points. The fuse trips. You should test all cords for resistance, and also inspect them to see if there are any creases, exposed wiring, or broken areas. Broken cords must be replaced with new ones, and missing soldering points must be soldered using a soldering iron and tin.
  6. Burnt-out filament. After prolonged exposure to temperature, the spiral inside the rod may burn out, causing the device to stop functioning. It will be necessary to remove the Renault Duster cigarette lighter, and then replace it with a new spare part.
  7. Broken backlight lamp. The light bulb that guarantees the operation of the filter may burn out due to age or constant shaking. To replace it, you will need to remove the cigarette lighter, dismantle the filter and change the lamp.

Thus, it can be seen that all electrical circuits pass through the fuse box under the hood of the Renault Duster, and only after that, through the block in the car’s interior. If a fuse blows, it must be replaced with the same one so that the markings match.

Prevention options

In order not to constantly purchase a large number of fuses, you need to apply preventive measures.

  1. The most common way to avoid frequent failure of fuses is to replace them with a more powerful element. Experts recommend installing the device at at least 15 amperes. In this case, the likelihood of problems occurring and fuses blowing is reduced significantly.
  2. Secondly, you need to carefully select devices, since the electrical power is indicated on the packaging of DVRs, car radios and other products used in cars. To avoid blowing fuses, you need to carefully read their technical characteristics and only then connect them to the car’s electrical network.
  3. The third condition is that it is recommended to connect the plug correctly. Since due to a mismatch between the standards of the plug and socket of the device, certain problems may arise. The plug is connected correctly if the contacts are in a horizontal position, i.e. on the sides (not below and not above!). This arrangement will avoid burnout and melting of the terminals.

But if a problem does arise and the element burns out, then it will have to be replaced with a new one. This procedure is extremely simple; in Renault Logan you can get it out by prying it off with a thin flat-head screwdriver.

You should only use rust removers, such as Tsinkar or analogues; by the way, Logan’s body is galvanized. Do not use rough objects for cleaning.

Use only rust removers, such as Tsinkar or analogues; by the way, Logan’s body is galvanized. The greater the mileage of the engine, the worse it will be visible and the more difficult it will be to distinguish the numbers; it’s good that the traffic police no longer require checking the number of this element during registration.

If possible, do this on different printed media so that you can always find the information you are interested in.

Precautions for work

To avoid injuries or breakdowns when servicing your car, you should follow some rules.

  1. Always securely secure the vehicle and disconnect the power cables from the battery.
  2. Removing fuses from the socket is permitted only with special pliers or tweezers.
  3. It is recommended to perform all procedures in high-quality lighting.
