If you have driven foreign cars, especially in winter, you could appreciate all the delights of having heated exterior mirrors.

The VAZ 2114 does not have such an option, but this did not stop third-party manufacturers from producing a whole range of products equipped with heating.

Frankly speaking, it is much easier to spend about 800-900 rubles on buying a ready-made heated side mirror than to try to make the heating yourself. This is better in terms of reliability and safety.

The side mirror itself (in this case, simple, without a turn signal repeater, with manual adjustment) consists of two parts. The main part (the mirror itself) and the protective cover. Connect these parts carefully and accurately by aligning the grooves on the mirror and the inserts on the lid and press it. It should click into place.

Removing the mirror on a VAZ-2114

So, one 21-watt light bulb can defrost even a very frozen mirror in just a few minutes.

  3. In some designs, to separate it, you need to lightly press it in the center and, as it were, push it to the side. After this, the reflective element can be removed with careful movements.
  4. Then remove the center screw from the plastic frame (if equipped).

In general, after looking on the Internet, I realized that buying ready-made solutions is a little expensive. I decided to simply change the mirror elements. The issue price is 400 rubles per pair.

Having bought it, I went to an electrician... He said that he had never pulled out the glass itself in his life, and was afraid of breaking it! He said, you take it out yourself, and I’ll install new ones for you.

On Saturday, while sitting at work - fortunately there was no one else in the office - I decided to take out the glass.

I don’t know how to do this myself - I started digging on the Internet. I didn’t find anything useful except to completely remove the mirrors and boil them in water so that the mirror elements fall out... since it’s cool outside, I decided to completely remove one mirror and experiment. Having removed the mirror, he brought it into the office and began to dig around. It dawned on me how to remove the glass. Having removed it, I realized that I couldn’t insert a new one due to the fact that there were no holes in the pan for the heater power terminals. I had to remove it too, so that I could insert the ready-made ones later. I also used Yandex for manuals. I dug there for about 40 minutes. Having found nothing, I decided to use a screwdriver. The methods I found were not suitable for the type of mounting of my mirror.

For a long time I tried to remove the second fastener, broke it out, pulled it... but nothing happened. And then I decided that it was worth trying to remove the casing, which was the color of the car. Having stuck a knife into the thin silk to cut off all the sealant, I found that the casing came off quite easily. But under it there is such a small diamond. Having pulled it out, I found a nut with a bolt... when I unscrewed the nut, the inside just fell out. It took me 2.5 hours to figure out how to remove the mirror element, but on the second mirror I did it in 5 minutes.

1) for convenience, remove the mirror completely. It can be removed from inside the car - to do this, pull out the twist handle (By the way, when I was removing mine, I broke off this handle), unscrew the 3 screws, and pull out the mirror with your hands.

2) remove the covering of your mirror. If there is one, it is usually worn for an aesthetic appearance - giving the same color to your car

3) You will see a diamond there - pry it with a flat screwdriver - and pull it out

4) There you will see a nut and a spring under it. holding the old mirror element, unscrew the nut.

5) turn the mirror over so that it falls into your hand.

6) on the other side you will see a fork mount - just pull out the mirror element from this mount

7) Route the wires from the inside. If there are additional holes, then in them, if not, then through the mirror rotation hole.

Connect the power terminal of the heating element and insert the latch into the “plug mount”

9) Reassemble the mirror in reverse order

10) I would also recommend going to a hardware store and buying a small tube of sealant. And when you put the casing on in the color of the car, first coat the mirror housing with sealant to prevent water from getting in there. and at the same time gluing the colored casing itself
