How to replace a low beam lamp on a Lada Kalina

In head optics, low beam lamps most often have to be replaced. For a Lada Kalina car, the low beam lamp is a halogen lamp with an “H7” socket, the power of which is 55 watts (no more). Osram bulbs may come from the factory, but others will do. After replacement, the filament will occupy a new position, and the headlight adjustment may be lost. So, checking the settings, and, if necessary, adjusting the headlights is carried out immediately after replacing the lamps, which on the Lada Kalina is done without dismantling the headlight unit.

Installing a new one: sequential instructions

The procedure for removing and installing a headlight that is located on the right or left side is not particularly different from each other.

It is only important to act strictly according to the instructions. When installing a new light bulb, you must hold it only by the base, do not touch it with your hands

When removed, you can completely hold it in your hands.

Note that for the Lada Kalina (16-valve engine) a lamp with an H7 socket is required. Install the new one as follows:

  • Determine the seat so that the protrusion in the base coincides with the groove on the headlight. It must be firmly fixed. Only then will it be clear that the protrusion has fallen into the groove;
  • press the latch against the lamp so that the center of the base is between the antennae of the latch;
  • snap the latch into place;
  • connect both wires to the clamp and close the lid tightly.

After completing this procedure, you need to turn on the headlights at close range and check their operation. If everything is fine, then the installation was completed correctly. Otherwise, you will have to take the car to a car service center and pay money for it. Lamps should only be purchased in special stores. It is advisable to give preference to well-known manufacturers and models with a guarantee. Osram H7 12V 55W headlights for the Lada Kalina Cross are very popular today.

Low illumination of viburnum: factors of problems

The most common malfunction in vehicles is burnt out light bulbs. Sometimes this happens quite often, indicating the appearance of an auxiliary cause that caused the breakdown.

Note: When dismantling halogen light bulbs, you need to ensure that the bulb is sterile.

It is very important to keep debris and dirt out. Therefore, sometimes the touch of fingers can play a cruel joke

Low beam lighting on the Lada Kalina refuses to shine in the following cases:

  1. The fuse that protects the light bulb's power circuit fails.
  2. The headlight housing has become depressurized, dirt and foreign particles have gotten inside. The reflector along with the bulb bulb becomes clogged, and this leads to overheating and, accordingly, damage to the filament.
  3. Unstable operation of the generator voltage stabilizer. As is known, power surges significantly increase the breakdown of halogen light bulbs.
  4. The power supply to the lighting equipment has been damaged, for example, oxidation has occurred, a wire has broken, or the contact of the light bulb plugs does not work.

What are the reasons for lamp failure?

The main reason is common burnout. This phenomenon is quite common among the Lada Kalina family. In one season, the owner can replace from one to several sets of these lighting elements.

Among the other, most common reasons that prompt a light bulb to state its malfunction are:

  1. A leaky headlight housing, as a result of which dust and dirt deposits enter the bulb of the element we are considering, causing increased heating.
  2. Unstable voltage generated in the on-board network. This is accompanied by characteristic surges, causing the power element of the light bulb to burn out prematurely.
  3. The fuse in the light bulb power supply circuit has become unusable.
  4. Oxidation or burning of the contact group that directly communicates with the low beam device has occurred.

Also, in addition to the above factors, the quality of its manufacture has a direct impact on the life of the lamp. Determining the causes of the breakdown can be entrusted to a specialist, since in this case all components of the on-board network directly related to this LADA Kalina lighting element will be thoroughly diagnosed. Based on these actions, a current verdict will follow, and measures will be prescribed to eliminate all present problems; the low beam lamp will probably need to be replaced.

Which low beam lamps to choose for Kalina

As we already indicated above, H7 lamps are installed in the low beam. Today a large number of lamps of varying quality are offered with this type of base. We recommend installing only high-quality and proven lamps that have already proven themselves.

What types of lamps are recommended?

For the Lada Kalina in the second generation, the manufacturer provides for the use of modifications of lamps with an “H7” socket as low-beam head optics. The donor of these products is the legendary German manufacturer OSRAM. The power of the lamps is 55 W, which is quite enough for optimal light characteristics, and the power consumption is the standard 12 V. Which lamps are best to use?

There are analogues that owners, at their own discretion, can use as an alternative. Among the recommended options, you can consider products from such global brands:

  • "Philips Extreme Vision";
  • "GE SportLight".

These options will not please you with the price, since it is very high, but in terms of their parameters and durability they will be much more acceptable than other offers. It is up to the car owner to decide which lamps are best to choose.

If the owner of LADA Kalina feels limited in finances for the purchase of lamps, then we recommend turning your attention to Russian manufacturers of these products. It has succeeded here, having achieved an enviable balance of consumer qualities for its products. Low beam lamps from the specified manufacturer will have a favorable price, and their reliability will arouse “respect” from famous brands. No unexpected failures of these lighting elements were identified.

AvtoVAZ specialists do not recommend installing lamps from manufacturers who do not provide their products with the entire list of permits regarding import and sale on Russian territory.

Selection and replacement of lamps Lada Kalina 1 - low beam, high beam, PTF

Several years ago, the government approved a law according to which during the daytime it is necessary to drive a car with either low beam headlights or DRLs (daytime running lights). As a result, car low beam lamps began to burn out much more often. The first generation Lada Kalina is no exception. Those who do not want to drive with low beam headlights install daytime running lights. Kalina 1, unlike the second generation model, does not have DRLs, so you have to drive with low beam headlights. From our instructions you will learn how to replace the lamps in the front headlight unit, as well as the reasons why these lamps may not work.

What lamps are installed in the front headlight unit of Lada Kalina 1

  • Low beam lamp - H7 12v/55w
  • High beam lamp - h2 12v/55w
  • Dimensions lamp - w5w 12v/5w
  • Turn signal lamp - PY21W 12v/21w

Most often, the low beam and front headlight lamps burn out, since when the low beam is on, the headlights work the same way.

As we already indicated above, H7 lamps are installed in the low beam. Today a large number of lamps of varying quality are offered with this type of base. We recommend installing only high-quality and proven lamps that have already proven themselves.

  • PHILIPS H7-12-55 LONGLIFE ECO VISION (4x lifespan) lamp price from 400 rubles (lamp installed from the factory)

Why does the low beam headlight lamp on Kalina not light up?

If you notice that the low beam headlights on your Kalina have stopped working, there may be several reasons. To eliminate it, you should check each of the reasons in turn.

  • Lamp burned out
  • Poor contact of the lamp socket
  • Fuse burned out

First of all, check the fuse of the headlight on which the lamp does not light. Each headlight has its own separate fuse. In Kalina these are F12 and F13. Pull out the fuse and check it visually; if it is intact, then the problem is in the block or the lamp itself.

Open the hood and remove the rubber headlight boot from the low beam headlight bulb

Remove the block from the lamp and put it aside

We press the spring clamp, move it slightly to the side and lift it up.

We take out the old lamp, install a new one and reassemble in the reverse order

Remove the rubber boot from the high beam lamp

Disconnect the wire block from the lamp

We press the metal clamp of the lamp and take out the lamp.

We install a new lamp and perform assembly

The side light lamp on Kalina 1 is located in the same place as the low beam lamp.

Carefully take the cartridge with two fingers and pull it out of the seat

Remove the old lamp from the socket and install a new one

Turn the lamp socket counterclockwise half a turn and pull it out

Press the lamp in the socket and turn it counterclockwise half a turn, remove it and install a new one

This completes the replacement of the lamps in the front headlight unit.

When replacing low and high beam headlight bulbs, do not touch the bulbs by the bulbs. And if you touch it, the lamp bulb must be wiped with alcohol.

Reasons for replacing lighting fixtures

The most obvious reason to replace the low beam is when the headlight bulbs burn out. The reasons for the failure of these parts may be different. On Lada Kalina cars of the 1st and 2nd generations, H7 type lamps are installed.

Imperfection and budget are the causes of the following malfunctions.

  1. Clogging due to depressurization of the flask. Due to dust ingress, overheating occurs and the lighting element fails.
  2. Voltage surges in the on-board network, namely an increase in permissible values. To identify this malfunction, it is necessary to diagnose the generated voltage; the generator should not produce more than 14.4 Volts.
  3. Blown fuse.
  4. Violation of the integrity of the electrical circuit.
  5. The output contacts are oxidized.

These are the most common factors causing low beam lamp failure. There are others, but they are extremely rare.

To figure out whether the Kalina low beam lamp needs to be replaced, or the reason is something else, you need to be able to carry out independent diagnostics. For this you will need a multimeter.

First of all, the integrity of fuses F12, F13 in the mounting block is checked. If in the dialing mode touching the terminals is accompanied by a sound signal, it means the fuses are working. If there is no signal, the fuses need to be replaced and the cause of their failure must be found out. You should also ring all sections of the circuit, especially if voltage is not supplied to the terminals.

Driving on public roads without working low beams is unacceptable. Especially in the dark, as it can cause a serious accident. For good lighting, it is also recommended to adjust the light at a car service center or do it yourself.

Replacing the headlight bulb on Kalina (photo and video)

We present to your attention detailed photos and video instructions on how to change the headlight bulb on a Lada Kalina with your own hands.

What are the dimensions of the Lada Kalina lamps?

In Kalina's dimensions there are standard baseless lamps of type A12-5-2 (W5W). If desired, LED lamps can be installed instead.

Replacing the headlight bulb on Kalina - photo

Before replacing the headlight bulbs, be sure to turn them off, and it is also advisable to disconnect the negative terminal of the battery.

The clearance lamp is replaced with the hood open.

To gain access to the burnt out lamp, remove the headlight protective cover opposite the high beam section.

It is this yellow cartridge at the bottom of the headlight that we need to remove.

This procedure is complicated by the fact that the cartridge of Kalina’s dimensions is located in a very inconvenient place; getting into it with your fingers is problematic. And it often takes a lot of effort to remove the cartridge.

Many people recommend using pliers or another tool to remove an oversized cartridge. We do not recommend doing this, since the plastic cartridge is easy to break, and finding a new one is difficult.

To facilitate access to the size socket, disconnect the chip from the high beam lamp (brown, located above the size socket).

Access is now better.

We put our hand in and carefully pull the cartridge of dimensions towards ourselves. Often the cartridge requires a lot of effort. If it does not give in, you can twist it slightly to the left and right, and then carefully pull it out, gradually increasing the force.

After we have pulled out the socket, we pull out the burnt out lamp from it.

Instead, we insert a new headlight bulb.

Then insert the cartridge back into place until it clicks.

Don't forget to put the high beam lamp chip back in place.

After this, it is advisable to turn on the dimensions and check if everything works.

If the lamp works, close the headlight housing and hood.

Replacing the headlight bulb on Kalina - video

A few days ago, on the Lada Kalina blog, I wrote a post about how a not very pleasant picture arose on my car with the left headlight (driver’s) fogging up. In general, the situation, as it turned out later, is familiar to many owners of not only Kalina, but also other domestic cars. The fact is that for some reason condensation forms in the internal cavity of the headlight, and the light bulb constantly burns out. Moreover, this applies specifically to the low beam, since you have to drive with it constantly due to the law.

When I did this for the first time, of course I had to spend a lot of time and nerves, although with patience and calmness, as well as level hands, everything is done quite simply. Below I will try to describe in more detail the detailed procedure that must be performed in order to replace the lamp.

Instructions for replacing low beam headlight bulbs on Kalina

So, the first thing you need to do is open the hood of the car. Then, on the side where the light bulb burned out, you need to pull out (remove) the rubber plug. When the rubber band is removed, you can proceed to further actions. This is where we need patience. You need to feel the latch that secures the lamp with your fingers and unclick it. There you get two tendrils on each side, and they need to be disengaged. All that remains is to pull off the two power wires that go to the light bulb and then you can remove it

But this must be done carefully so as not to break it. When installing a new one, you should pay attention that its protrusion on the body is aligned with a similar-sized slot in the headlight. We put the latch in place and connect all the wires.. As promised, I’m posting several photos of this repair, I think that now everything is shown more clearly

As for the prices for new light bulbs, it all depends on the thickness of your wallet, that is, you can buy one for at least 80 rubles, at least for 300 rubles. From my own experience I can say that the same MAYAK can last for several seasons if moisture does not penetrate into the headlight

As promised, I’m posting a few photos of this renovation, I think that now everything is shown more clearly. Adjusting the headlight beam

Correctly adjusting headlights can only be done in a service station. However, let's look at how this operation is performed by experienced craftsmen.

Kalina-2 block headlight, correct adjustment of the beam direction

There are two adjustment screws on the back wall of the unit called the headlight unit. The first of them, located closer to the radiator, allows you to deflect the light beam “up and down”, and the “horizontal” direction is adjusted with the second screw. Ideally, this should happen: when the car is 5 meters from the screen, the border of the light spot touches line “2” (see figure). Line “1” is spaced from the ground at a distance equal to the height of the centers of the headlights. The second line is drawn 65 mm lower.

When making adjustments, the corrector switch is moved to position “0”. Of course, you only need to turn on the low beam. We also note that the headlights are adjusted one by one (the “excess” light source is covered with a cloth).

Here are a couple more tips that will be useful:

  • The centers of the beams should be on lines AE, BE;
  • Line “0” has the following meaning: it intersects with line “1” at one point, so the border of the spot should pass exactly through this point;
  • The caps of the plastic adjustment screws are compatible with a hex screwdriver. However, a Phillips screwdriver will also work.

So, we have fully examined how to adjust the headlights on Kalina-2. Of course, replacing lamps with subsequent adjustment is a less labor-intensive operation than connecting a radio. However, accuracy is important here. And the special equipment used to perform the settings is only available at service stations.

Replacing low beam lamps

The standard replacement of the low beam bulb on a Lada Kalina is quite simple. The procedure does not require deep knowledge of auto electrics or the presence of specialized tools.

To perform the procedure correctly, you must prepare all the tools and follow the sequence of actions.

Place the car on the handbrake and remove the terminals from the battery. It is recommended to drive the car into a well-lit garage or leave it outside, this will make it easier to see small parts and fasteners. Remove the plastic block cover. Here you can tighten the element by hand without using tools. In some configurations, the plug can be made of hard rubber (what it depends on is unknown)

It is important to consider that the element often dries out and cracks. Therefore, you need to buy it in advance.

The replacement of the low beam bulb of the Lada Kalina 1st generation continues, at the stage of disconnecting the wiring

The contact group often gets stuck, which forces the master to tense up a little. By rocking the block from side to side, you will need to pull it off its seat. In this case, you need to hold the device body so as not to damage the element. If a part is broken, it cannot be repaired - the entire unit is replaced. Next, remove the lamp retaining spring from the hook. Then you will need to move it to the side so that it does not interfere.

Important! You should not completely pull out the latch - it will be extremely difficult to install it in place. The bar simply slides out so that the light bulb can be removed

Next, the light bulb itself is pulled out of the socket. You only need to support the emitter by its metal elements; you should not even touch the glass part of the lamp. Installation of the new part is carried out in the reverse order

At the same time, it is important to check the reliability of the device. If there is increased vibration, the lamp may fall out of its socket, which may cause an accident.

Replacing a 2nd generation Lada Kalina light bulb is done in the same way. The headlights of the cars are almost identical in terms of design.

How the work is carried out

Let's figure out how to replace the low beam light bulb on Kalina with your own hands, the process is quite simple and, by and large, does not require any special devices, you only need your hands. But still, the tool may be needed at the preparation stage.

Preparation

It is important to ensure a comfortable and safe working environment, so remember the following:

  • The work can be done anywhere - even in the yard near the house, but it is advisable to go to the garage. There you can not be afraid of precipitation and, if necessary, find this or that tool.
  • First of all, the hood is opened and the terminal is removed from the battery. We remind you of this in every review. Therefore, make it a habit to de-energize the system when working with electrical equipment to prevent short circuits and electric shock.
  • Further preparation depends on what engine is installed in your car, you need to provide access to the rear of the headlight housing, and for this you need to disconnect the expansion tank on the left, and the options on the right may be different. Therefore, be guided by the situation and decide for yourself. What needs to be removed and what should not be touched.

Without easy access, work is much more difficult to carry out

Replacement process

Replacing the low beam bulb on Kalina is as follows:

First of all, you need to remove the rubber plug, which protects the interior of the headlight from moisture and dirt; this is also very important, so do not damage this element. It's very simple: grab one of the three protrusions and pull away from the body, the element will come off quite easily.

The plug is located behind the low beam headlight on the rear side

Next, you need to remove the two contacts and move them to the side; this is easier to do while the low beam light bulb on Kalina is still fixed

It is important to remove the elements carefully so as not to damage the insulation or break the wires, otherwise you will have to carry out repair work as well. After the wires are disconnected, you can proceed to the next step - releasing the latch, which presses the base to the reflector and holds the element in a certain position. To do this, you need to disengage the clamp from both sides by lightly pressing it and moving it away from the base.

How to replace the lamps yourself?

How to change lamps yourself? Before replacing the low beam lamp, we recommend performing a number of simple preparatory steps. For work you will have to acquire the following list of devices and tools:

  • new light bulbs, or rather a set (it is recommended to replace both headlights at once);
  • screwdriver and pliers;
  • a bottle of alcohol-containing substance, rags and gloves.

Also, the LADA Kalina car itself needs preparation:

  • we place it in the middle of a flat area;
  • activate the handbrake and install wheel chocks under the rear wheels;
  • the engine is switched off.

Replacement.

Open the hood and disconnect the power from the battery. This action will prevent the risk of a short circuit. Now remove the washer reservoir from its seat. The lamp can be replaced either with dismantling the headlight unit or without performing this action. If the optimal decision is made to replace without unnecessary dismantling, then first remove the rubber plug from the end of the headlight housing. To do this, pull the corresponding petal. The time has come to remove the electrical connectors from the base terminals of the lamps. We do this without forgetting to remember or mark the belonging of the switching elements to their current collectors (light bulbs). Release the spring retainer from its lock

We act with extreme caution in order to prevent the fixing element from spontaneously falling into the lighting device. We take out the lamp and install a new low beam lamp in its place.

We carry out the action with gloves to prevent unwanted formation of fatty deposits on the surface of the flask. This aspect inevitably leads to a decrease in the resource indicator of the product we are considering. For preventive purposes, at the end of the procedure, it is recommended to wipe the surface of the flask with an alcohol-containing solution. Now we perform all assembly procedures in reverse order. This is a complete list of work related to how to change low beam bulbs in a car.

Tips for choosing headlight bulbs

Currently, the most commonly used bulbs are H7 sockets. They are divided into:

  • halogen;
  • LED;
  • halogen with xenon effect;
  • xenon

Halogen lamps have the most average performance. These lamps are the most common among car owners. But these lamps are also the shortest lasting due to their high heat. Halogen lamps with xenon effect always have an increased service life compared to conventional halogen lamps.

LED lamps are more economical, but are more vulnerable to external influences: impacts, shocks. But at the same time, LED lamps are record holders in terms of service life. Also, having purchased these light bulbs, you may encounter some difficulties when adjusting the light beam, described below in the article.

Xenon lamps are immune to shock and vibration. Their temperature regime is closest to that of daylight. But not everyone can afford such lamps due to their high cost. Also, xenon bulbs require the installation of an additional light ignition unit.

As a rule, when choosing replacement light bulbs, drivers are guided by reliability and low cost. An important factor is also the efficiency of lamps in conditions of poor visibility. Philips and BOSCH bulbs fit these criteria perfectly among halogen bulbs. Philips light bulbs, like almost all other products from this company, are the longest-lasting halogen lamps, but also less bright.

An exception is Philips “X-Treme Vision”, which produces LED bulbs with increased luminous flux, but their service life is lower than that of their classmates. BOSCH lamps, on the contrary, wear out faster, but, as a rule, they shine brighter. The color range of the light beam from BOSCH light bulbs is also more diverse.

Among LED light bulbs, the highest quality ones are Philips “X-Treme Vision” and the Korean “MTF-Light Argentum” series with high glow temperature and brightness.

The most popular halogen bulbs with xenon effect are produced by Koreans. "MTF-Light Palladium" is a lamp with a fairly high glow temperature (5500 K) and the attractive effect of expensive xenon. This model is also the most budget-friendly of xenon lamps. Also worth highlighting is “Osram Cool Blue Intense”, which is visually close to the original xenon. The light emanating from such a lamp has an attractive white-blue tint.

The most popular xenon lamp in Russia is “MaxLux H7”. The ratio of its cost and characteristics is quite favorable. This lamp, with a cost of up to 950 rubles, has milky white and bluish shades and a glow temperature from 4300 to 6000 K. The disadvantage of the lamp is its production in Chinese Sho-Me factories, which sometimes gives reason to doubt the quality and integrity when delivering goods to the shops.

Always carefully check the lamps you purchase for unexpected cracks or deformations!

For more expensive models, there are top Japanese manufacturers such as KOITO MANUFACTURING. The cost of such lamps is the highest, but the quality is strikingly different from their colleagues for the better.

You can find the cheapest light bulbs from domestic ones and from Dialuch. But only one thing can be said about these light bulbs - their low price fully corresponds to their quality. Such bulbs are more suitable for owners of domestic cars and cars assembled in Russian factories (for example, Hundai “Accent” and Renault “Logan”).

Replacing lamps yourself

If the diagnostics carried out showed that it was the light bulb that burned out, then it is not at all necessary to take the car to a service center, where such a change in the lighting element will cost 2-3 thousand rubles or more. You can do all the work yourself. For most cars, the headlight design is identical, so the car owner is guaranteed not to encounter any difficulties with carrying out such repair and service work.

Only on new cars will it be necessary to dismantle the bumper in order to remove the headlight and change the burnt out light bulb. In such a case, it is best to take the car to a service center, where specialists, having extensive practical experience, will carry out such repairs in a short time.

Possible causes of malfunction

So, if the low beam in one of the headlights of a Lada Kalina does not light up, then the reason most likely lies in a burnt-out light bulb. Replacing it will not be difficult for every car owner.

However, unfortunately, there are a number of other reasons for this malfunction, the most common of which are the following:

  • The contacts in the plug block are oxidized or burnt;
  • The fuse has blown;
  • Open circuit;
  • The relay has failed.

Below we will look at how to fix all these problems.

H7 standard bulb

Replacing the lamp

Replacing the low beam on Kalina is quite simple. Moreover, you will only have to spend a few minutes of your time on this.

The only thing is that before replacing old lamps, you need to purchase new ones of the H7 standard. It is advisable to install new bulbs on two headlights at once so that they provide the same glow.

Removing the plug

Replacement instructions are as follows:

  • First of all, you need to remove the rubber plug located on the back of the headlight. To do this, you must first open the hood.
  • Then you need to remove the positive and negative terminals from the contacts.

Releasing the latch from the landing

  • Next, you need to press the spring bracket with your own hands and remove it from the seat.
  • After this, you need to remove the old light bulb and put a new one in its place.
  • Then you need to replace the bracket, put the terminals on the contacts and install the plug.

When replacing light bulbs, you need to pay attention to the quality of the contacts. If the contacts are oxidized or burnt, they must be cleaned

Fuse and relay block Lada Kalina

Replacing the fuse

If, after replacing the lamps, the low beam headlights in the Lada Kalina still do not work, you should check the fuses. They are located in the mounting block under the steering wheel.

The lamps are protected by different fuses:

  • Right lamp – F12
  • Left lamp – F13

It must be said that it is not always possible to visually identify a blown fuse. Therefore, even if it has no external defects, you should check the voltage at the terminals with a test lamp or multimeter.

Lada exterior lighting diagram

Open circuit

If the fault cannot be eliminated, then you need to find an open circuit.

You can do this as follows:

  • If there is no voltage at the fuse terminals, you need to ring the wire that goes from F13 to contact No. 56 of the lighting control unit, since you can turn on the low beam headlights on Kalina using switch No. 5.
  • If the wire is intact, but 2 headlights do not light, then switch No. 56 must be replaced. However, you should first check whether voltage is supplied to the switch itself.
  • If voltage is supplied to fuses F13 and F12, you should check whether there is voltage at the relay output. Let us remind you that the low beam relay in the Lada Kalina is located in the mounting block.
  • If there is no voltage, you should check the area from F12 to contact No. 56 of switch No. 4, which is located on the steering wheel, as well as the area from terminal No. 56a to terminal 1 of relay K7. It is also quite possible that switch No. 4 or the relay itself is not working.

Replacing the latter is not difficult, since it is simply inserted with contacts into the socket.

In cases where there is voltage at the relay output, you should check the wiring of the machine from the mounting block to the headlights according to the diagram.

As we can see, finding an open circuit or a faulty part is not difficult. To do this, you only need a low beam circuit on Kalina and a multimeter or test light. These are, perhaps, all the main reasons for this malfunction on the Lada Kalina car.

Step-by-step replacement instructions

Each H7 standard bulb has an iron base, which is pressed to the headlamp with a wire clamp. To bend this bracket, just get close to the plane of the headlight from behind. Let's open the hood and see what exactly will bother us.

Engine compartment of Kalina-2 (VAZ-2192, 2194)

Behind the headlight on the right is a washer reservoir. It is dismantled like this: disconnect the electric motor terminals, tighten the plug harder, find one nut and one fastening bolt. The fastening elements are unscrewed with a 10mm wrench, then the tank is placed on the engine. Next we could look at how to remove the headlight on Kalina-2, but in this case this is not required.

Before performing any manipulations with electrical equipment, always disconnect the negative terminal of the battery. It is better to connect this terminal last (before closing the hood). Be careful.

Replacement sequence:

  1. Remove the rubber cover covering the low beam lamp compartment;
  2. Disconnect both terminals from the lamp contacts;
  3. The fastening bracket is removed from the grooves by first pressing on it, then the bracket is moved to the side;
  4. They take out the lamp, install a new one in its place, and return the bracket to its place.

Next, perform steps “2” and “1” in reverse order. The connection diagram is not important - there are only two contacts, and both go to the filament. Now, if we connected LEDs, then everything would look more complicated.

The bracket presses the cartridge to the plane of the headlight

When installing a halogen light source, you must remember: the surface of the lamp glass must be perfectly clean. Do not allow grease marks to remain on the flask. Installation is carried out using only cotton gloves. The glass of the flask is cleaned with industrial alcohol or Secunda.
