The anti-theft system is quite universal and the procedure for installing it is not very different for different cars of any model year - be it the old Chevrolet Niva, VAZ Lada Vesta or the new Great Wall Safe and Renault 2022.

Installation begins by turning off the vehicle battery. The ignition is also turned off and any energy consumers are disconnected.
The process begins with the installation of the main module with a microprocessor, which is installed so that only the car owner has free access to it. Typically, such a reliable location is considered to be plastic trim - the unit is placed behind the dashboard, audio system or storage compartment. Connect the device so that there are no other electronic devices near it that could cause interference, sources of high humidity or overheating. Fix the module with self-tapping screws or plastic clamps quite firmly.
The siren is placed under the hood of the car, but so that it is located at a distance from the cylinder block and exhaust manifold, which can overheat the device and damage it. Place the alarm with the horn to the side or down, which will prevent moisture from accumulating inside. The A63 alarm system was recommended by friends, and I am very grateful to them. For little money I purchased reliable and convenient protection for my Lanos. Of course, there are not many functions, but if desired, everything can be connected. This is very convenient, since I don’t need some options, for example Kan-shin. But I'm going to install GPS.	I got the A63 along with the car. I'm not very happy with my job. The reception radius is small and the batteries have to be changed very often. I don't like that there is no auto start. They say you can install it additionally, but for that kind of money you can buy an alarm system with auto start and not have to worry about it.
After my car was robbed, I thought about installing a good alarm system. I immediately wanted to install the Starline A93, but I don’t need autostart (the car is in a warm garage), so I opted for the A63. I am completely satisfied with the work, the signal does not lose even in a large parking lot, it responds immediately, there are no glitches. The keychain is very convenient, but I would buy a cover for it, it looks too fragile.	The presence of a large number of connected features is, of course, pleasing, but the constant glitches because of this are not very good. Additional connection modules are more expensive individually. In my opinion, it is better to select all the necessary functions at once; there will be fewer malfunctions and it will be cheaper.
I liked the price, technical characteristics and ease of installation. The instructions are really detailed. What is not clear, I found on the Internet. Many people use this alarm, so it wasn’t difficult to find information.	There were problems with the installation. I installed the previous two alarms myself, everything was fine. But I struggled with this one for two days and still half of the functions don’t work. The instructions do not correspond to reality at all, I had to download everything on the Internet and guess for myself. Briefly speaking. I don't take Starline anymore!
It is difficult to find a better alarm system with feedback and dialogue protection at this price. Everything is clearly written on the key fob; if the alarm goes off, it shows which circuit is affected. There were practically no false positives. I've been using it for about 1.5 years now.	I was disappointed in this alarm and in general the products and service of the Starline company. I bought the A63 Slave model, it is not very expensive. For some reason, installation at an official service center was more expensive than agreed upon. In addition, they forced me to buy some kind of Master, the functions of which no one could clearly explain, they only said that they couldn’t do without it. It turned out that this Master connects the alarm with the phone. The range is very small, literally 100 meters. If it were not for control from the phone, such a signal would not be needed at all.
For inexpensive cars, like my Six, the A63 alarm system is perfect. Installed the ECO version. It is practically no different, only there is no second key fob. It is really very economical and consumes almost no energy.	In principle, the alarm system is normal, but the functionality is very limited. No auto-start, no control from your phone. Everything must be purchased separately (and it is expensive). I would say that it is not worth it, it is better to take it already in a normal configuration.
I live in a big city, where cars are stolen very often, so I thought about the safety of my Peugeot. I read a lot on the Internet about the merits of this or that alarm system and decided to install the starline a63 system. I liked the price/functionality ratio. How to attach a Starline A63 keychain

This is a mandatory preliminary procedure that is performed before setting up the alarm. Writing them to the device memory occurs as follows:

disable the protective mode if it was enabled;
press the Valet service button 7 times and wait until the sound alarm sounds the same number of times;
On the main control panel, press the first and second keys simultaneously and wait for a melodic sound.

StarLine alarms, with the exception of those with the ECO prefix, come with two key fobs: the main one with an LCD display and an additional one, which has three keys.
Moreover, unlike most alarms, the additional one works with feedback, which is due to the very essence of the dialogue protocol: when an alarm is triggered, the alarm first transmits information to the main key fob, and not finding it, communicates with the additional one, and it sounds an alarm sound. The batteries in them are different: the most energy-intensive and frequently used main key fob uses a standard “pinky” AAA battery, which lasts for a month. This is due to the fact that the alarm regularly tries to communicate with the key fob, even if nothing happens - and these regular reception and transmission sessions reduce the battery life. Therefore, when purchasing a StarLine alarm, buy a pair of nickel batteries with a charger: these costs will be recouped by not having to regularly buy batteries.

If desired, the owner buys additional key fobs (the second main one if other family members use the car). The alarm memory has space for four key fobs of any type. At the same time, you need to understand that when you start the process of recording key fob codes, the previously registered ones will be erased, that is, it is impossible to “add” another one - the entire set is registered at once.

Basic malfunctions and methods for their elimination

Like any technical device, the A63 alarm system can fail. There can be many reasons for breakdowns, but among them are the most common. Most often, the gadget does not work or does not work correctly due to the fact that it is incorrectly installed or configured. To troubleshoot the problem yourself, you need to remount it, strictly following the instructions.

From time to time the alarm does not respond due to power problems or contact failure. These problems can be solved by replacing the batteries or checking the wiring. The wiring also suffers from high humidity, to protect it from which it is additionally insulated. One of the main signs of this breakdown is when the LED light often goes out.

The appearance of error 51a on the key fob indicates that the Slave mode was accidentally turned on. To get rid of it, turn off this mode, which you can do either with your own hands or at a service center. The latter option is desirable if one of the key fobs operates in tag mode.

In cases where the system requires complex repairs, including the need for disassembly, it is recommended that this be done at a car service center.

Setting up autostart alarm Starline A93

Starting the car:

Move the gearshift knob to the neutral/parking position (switch off all gears);
Turn off the ignition and remove the key from it (the engine must be on);
Activate the parking brake (on manual)
Close all doors tightly, as well as the hood and trunk lid;

If any step is missed, remote launch is not possible. But with proper preparation of the car (the engine is turned off by the alarm itself), it can be started from the remote control in different ways.

Press and hold button 1 (until two melodic beeps appear), then release the button

Periodically starting the engine from the key fob:

This function is especially relevant in winter, when periodic warming up of the engine is required. The starline a93 key fob can automatically start the engine to warm up (after 2, 3, 4, 24 hours).

How to set up autorun by time

The Starline A93 alarm system allows you to regularly start the car engine at regular intervals. The start period can be set from 2 hours to 24 hours with a minimum increment of 2 hours.

To activate the mode, you must:

place the key fob cursor on the icon with the image of an hourglass and briefly press button No. 1 - the car will respond with one light signal, and the key fob with one melodic sound;
The key fob display will display the current value of the car engine autostart period for 4 seconds (for example, “4H” means that the engine will start every 4 hours).

To change the engine autostart period, you need to lightly press button No. 1 until the desired value appears on the display. Each press of button No. 1 increases the automatic start period by 2 hours.

After the desired autorun period value is displayed on the display, press button No. 1 and hold it until a melodic trill sounds, or wait until the selected autorun period is automatically saved, which will occur 4 seconds after selecting the desired parameter. At the same time, two short melodic signals will sound on the key fob, and an icon with an hourglass will begin to appear on its display. A few seconds after setting the selected parameters, the engine will automatically start and warm up.

Activate autostart mode based on temperature

This feature monitors the outside air temperature and, if necessary, starts the car engine to warm up. The start temperature is set within the range from -3 °C to -27 °C, the minimum step is 3 °C. The minimum period of time between restarts (excluding time spent warming up the engine) is 60 minutes. Once the user activates the temperature-based engine start feature, the number of temperature starts is not limited.

To enable engine autostart mode based on temperature, perform the following steps:

press the icon with the image of a key and button No. 1 - the car reacts with one light signal, and the key fob emits a melodic trill once;
over the next 4 sec. the key fob display shows the current value of the starting temperature;
to change the temperature value, you need to press button No. 1 (1 press = 3 oC);
after selecting the desired temperature parameters, hold down button No. 1 until a sound signal is heard, or wait for automatic saving, which occurs after 4 seconds.

If the engine autostart function based on temperature is successfully activated, the key fob emits two short melodic signals, and the icon with the image of a key on the key fob display becomes active.

Auto start on alarm clock

When this function is activated, the car engine will automatically start at the specified time. To activate the function, perform the following steps:

the key fob cursor is moved to the icon with the image of a clock and button No. 1 is briefly pressed, after which the car emits one light signal, and the key fob emits one melodic sound;
the key fob display shows the time after which the engine will automatically start according to the alarm clock;
after 5 sec. The current time display on the key fob resumes.

The engine autostart function using an alarm clock is activated for one start cycle. The fact that the mode has been successfully enabled is indicated by active icons depicting a clock and a bell on the key fob display.

Checking the key fob and searching for the service button

The very first step will be to check the key fob itself for its functionality. Inspect the key fob housing for cracks and chips, check the batteries. You can check the voltage on the key fob battery using a multimeter. If the key fob is new or the batteries have been changed recently, then you can skip this step.

The next step is to find out where the service button is located. Programming an alarm is not such a complicated process; you need to find a button from the alarm unit, usually it is connected to a wire. Most often, alarms are installed under the front panel of the car on the passenger or driver's side. You need to look under the front panel and find this button. If you cannot find the button, then you need to find the alarm unit and walk along the wires from it in search of the button.

Possible reasons for time settings failure

If you find that your Starline key fob no longer displays the time correctly, then you should check the condition of the battery. This is quite easy to do, thanks to the built-in low battery indicator function. When the battery loses the energy necessary for high-quality operation, a corresponding picture appears on the display, accompanied by a sound signal. And although this reason is extremely rare, especially for Starline, it is necessary to check any possible options.

The second reason could be changing the battery. After installing a new battery, the time is automatically reset.

Be careful, replacing the battery inevitably entails resetting the anti-burglary protection, so the first thing you should do is not set a new indicator, but set the car to the Starline alarm system.

Another reason is incorrectly adjusted clock indicators or incorrect procedure for setting.

Transceiver with call button

The Starline company, as we see, in the fourth generation switched to using the same type of transceivers.

They may look different in appearance, but compatibility does not suffer from this. It is a pity that such principles were not relevant earlier. Then, there would be no problems with the choice of equipment.

Transceivers are also compatible

The transceiver is a small box with an antenna that is connected to the signaling unit. Without an “antenna,” of course, nothing works. The following Starline “antennas” are interchangeable:

A4, A2 and 24V (if there is no call button on the case);
A9, A6, A8, B9, B6;
C4, C9, C6;
B6 Dialog, B9 Dialog and here – A61, A91;
A62, A92, B62, B92;
All fourth generation (E90, E60, A64, ... D94).

Compatibility of old Starline key fobs

Currently, it is possible to record key fobs: - key fobs E60, B64, D64 are interchangeable (with each other) - key fobs E90, B94, D94 are interchangeable (with each other) - StarLine A2 to StarLine A4 and vice versa (one-sided and double-sided key fobs). StarLine A2, A4 and 24V (one-sided key fobs!) - StarLine B6 to StarLine B9 and vice versa (only one-sided key fobs!) - One-sided key fobs of old versions of series B (black LCD key fob and block) to new versions (blue LCD key fob and block) and vice versa. — StarLine B6 Dialog key fobs in StarLine A61 and vice versa, StarLine B9 Dialog in StarLine A91 and vice versa.

Firmware methods depending on the alarm model

After the service button has been found, the process of recording key fobs into the alarm memory should begin. Depending on the models, one firmware method should be used.

The need to link a key fob to the alarm system may arise for the owner of a car with the Starline security system for various reasons, for example, loss of the key fob. The procedure for programming the Starline key fob is quite simple, but it requires the user’s attentiveness and knowledge of a number of firmware subtleties.

Various tips for choosing

Additional equipment for signaling of the specified brand can be produced by third-party companies. The prices for such products are lower than the cost of the originals. Ask yourself the question, what is the benefit of buying non-original products? It seems that its only advantage is its low price. Well, the quality, if the cost is low, can hardly be better than what is provided in the original version.

Chinese devices differ in the following:

The operating distance is significantly lower than it should be;
There is feedback in the key fob, but it displays the state of the car incorrectly (or does not display it at all);
From the second point it follows that the car can be opened, but the owner will never know about it.

If it were not for point “2”, everything would be quite acceptable. And so, it is possible that the product of Chinese industry will have to be modified. But the result, as you understand, is not guaranteed in such cases. Make a choice.

Flip key fob

Many owners don't like to carry a heavy key fob on their key ring. It is generally not recommended to do this, since it significantly reduces the security of the car: having stolen or taken away the keys, the thief immediately gets the opportunity not to look for the alarm in the cabin, but simply turn it off or switch it to service mode. But recently there has been a fashion for embedding key fobs into a car key - on the Internet you will find offers for the sale of flip keys for various alarm systems, including for StarLine A93.

From the point of view of car security, this is more stupid than wearing a key fob on a chain. You should resort to this solution only if you are fully using the alarm capabilities - two-stage validation must be configured (entering a secret code using the car’s standard keys).

To convert the alarm key fob into a flip key, you will also need to disassemble the body of the car's standard key - you will have to remove the standard immobilizer chip from it so that the car can be started normally with a new key. We also disassemble the alarm key fob as described above.

First we replace the glass from the alarm key fob into the new key fob if the purchased key has just a slot instead. We carefully separate the glass from the panel using a thin knife. After this we rearrange the discharge blade. Next, we insert the boards removed from the key fob into the case and check whether the microbuttons on the board match the rubber buttons in the key. We find a free space for the immobilizer chip - it is desirable that it be as close as possible to the very tip of the key and be oriented in the same way as in the standard one. To secure the chip we use a glue gun. All that remains is to close the cover of the key fob, insert the battery, and check the operation of the buttons.

We register a new key fob in your car alarm

After the transition to the next generation of its products, the A63 alarm system became available at a price in the StarLine line in two versions - basic and “economical”, where the additional key fob was removed from the package.

Like other StarLine alarms, A63 uses a modular platform, which allows you to install additional expansion cards in the central unit, bringing it to the A93 level if necessary. Therefore, the A63 becomes an interesting option for installation on cars either without digital buses, or on those where connecting to them does not provide benefits in convenience and reliability. On Renault Logan 2, despite the presence of two CAN buses, StarLine A63 will be an excellent budget option, as it works great in an “analog” connection.

There is no point in choosing this system for a subsequent upgrade, since subsequent additional installation of modules will require removing the central unit, which will be difficult (and, therefore, expensive) if installed correctly. Buying an A93 with the required set of modules is a more reasonable decision.
