Do-it-yourself dry cleaning of the car interior - procedure
- First of all, wash the outside of the car so that during the cleaning process dirt does not get into the interior; this is quite realistic considering that you will literally be climbing all over and around the interior.
- Next, we find about half a day of time, a dry, bright room in which you can slowly complete the intended work.
- We take out everything from the cabin that could interfere with us. Namely: personal items, rugs, accessories and other trinkets that everyone has in the car.
- We vacuum the entire interior, cleaning it as much as possible from dust, sand and other debris, which during the work process can negatively affect the overall result. Use a soft, dry brush to remove dust from air ducts, handles, buttons and switches. We perform preliminary wet cleaning.
- We make a foam solution for cleaning the interior, according to the instructions for use of the product you purchased. Only foam should be applied; water will take too long to dry, so we use only active foam.
- Cleaning is done from top to bottom, so we start from the ceiling. Using a steam cleaner we treat the ceiling. Hot steam will dissolve contaminants. If the ceiling is too dirty after using a steam cleaner, you can collect dirty stains with a vacuum cleaner, but if the dirt is not significant, you can apply foam.
- We apply the foam evenly and wait for some time until the foam eats away the dirt. This time may vary for each cleaning product.
- Now, using a washing vacuum cleaner, remove the foam along with the dirt.
Actions to take when the floor is very wet
The methods described above are unlikely to help if puddles have formed on the floor under the rugs. In this case, it makes sense to visit a car wash first: specialists can pump out the water with a powerful vacuum cleaner. After this, you can use adsorbents and dry the interior with warm air. At the car washes where interior dry cleaning is carried out, there is special equipment for subsequent drying, which can also be used.
If the car was seriously damaged, for example, it was in a pond, in order to completely dry the floor, you will have to disassemble the upholstery and remove the soundproofing material. So that the time and physical costs of such drying do not seem in vain, you can combine this event with updating the noise and heat insulation of the cabin.
