General information about wheels on the VAZ 2114
Firstly, we can say with confidence that fourteenth radius wheels can be installed on a VAZ 2114 car; this is directly stated in the car’s service book. At the same time, it is very important that the width of the rim lies between five and six inches, the offset of the rims is from thirty-five to forty millimeters.
The material from which the disk is made does not matter; what is much more important is the size of the mounting holes - ninety-eight millimeters, and the size of the central hole - fifty-eight and a half millimeters. But there is one trick here: if we take a wheel diameter larger than the standard one, the height of the rubber profile must be reduced by approximately the same amount. Otherwise, when turning, the wheels will touch the suspension and wheel arch liners.

- 70 – the height of the tire profile relative to its width. The unit of measurement is percentage. In our case, the following value is obtained: 175 * 0.7 = 122.5 millimeters.
- R13 = indicates that this tire is designed for a thirteenth wheel diameter.
Now let’s calculate the total diameter of the wheel, which is the sum of the tire profile height in millimeters and the wheel rim diameter in millimeters. First, let's convert inches to millimeters: 13 * 25.4 = 330 millimeters. Next, we calculate the total radius of the wheel: 330 + 122.5 * 2 = 575 millimeters.
We received a standard value for the total wheel diameter. Now you just need to calculate the diameter for each wheel rim plus tire option and select the appropriate combination. A difference of no more than two millimeters is allowed, otherwise there will be either too much gap or the wheel will catch.
In conclusion, I would like to note that fifteen-radius wheels have a pair with a fairly low tire profile, but problems may arise with passing the annual technical inspection of the car, since such a large wheel radius is not directly recommended by the VAZ 2114 manufacturer.
But if you still decide to take such a step, then you should pay attention to car tires marked 195/50 R15 and 185/55 R15. It is worth noting that in the first case, if possible, it is better to double-check whether the wheel will fit before buying a set of tires. The problem in this case may not be the height of the wheel, but its width.

The fact is that some ten years ago, when there was no such choice in terms of wheels and tires for the VAZ 2106, car enthusiasts made homemade (boiled) wheels. All Lada models lend themselves best to this type of tuning. Of course, they put boiled wheels on other car models, but we’re talking specifically about putting big wheels on a VAZ 2106. So. Unwelding is a disc with an increased rim width. Standard wheels have a width from 5J to 6.5J. Using welding, you can increase the thickness to 7j 8j and 10j. Along the way, a problem may arise that such tuned wheels will not fit into the wheel arches, especially if there are fender liners. However, many car enthusiasts know that this is not a problem; they can be rolled out or cut.
There are two ways to boil the disc:
— Welding a steel strip into the middle of the disk. — Welding two disks cut to width.
Please note, however, that only steel (stamped) discs are suitable for such operations. Alloy wheels may not withstand heat treatment and may crack. One more feature. When changing the rim width in order to fit larger wheels on a VAZ 2106, it is necessary to use non-standard tires. For example, you installed boiled 13-inch wheels, then you need to choose tires with a diameter of 14 inches; if the wheels are 14 inches, then install 15-inch tires accordingly. The wheels must be pumped 0.2-0.3 atmospheres less than normal. This creates the effect of a flat tire. The rubber “swallows” all small pebbles and pits, and as a result reduces the load on the axle and wheel bearing. Next, toe the front wheels minus 1 mm at the front, at which the wheels seem to be trying to converge. This will protect the front bearings from twisting and extend their service life.
I consider this type of tuning to be the most acceptable for VAZ 2106 owners. It does not require significant financial investments into our cars. Moreover, they already belong to the budget class. So why should we pay more?
What is the tire pressure
The manufacturer provides a tire pressure of 1.9 bar for the basic wheel configuration (R13), and 2 bar for 14-inch wheels. In practice, for a given car model, 2 bars are always inflated. Below is a table from the car's passport.
