Dismantling instructions

To dismantle the device, you must follow the instructions:

  1. First remove the cover of the fuse box located to the left of the steering wheel.
  2. Unscrew the three bolts securing the plastic lining of the control panel.
  3. Dismantle the lining itself, and then unscrew four more bolts of the tidy. Pull it towards you.
  4. Next, squeeze the connector with the wires and disconnect it from the control panel.
  5. Dismantle the unit and repair or replace it. Assembly is carried out in reverse order.

As for the ABS indication (5), the stabilization system is working properly if this icon goes out within a couple of seconds after the engine starts.

But the cooling system overheating lamp (7), provided that it is properly controlled, should go out after a 5-second interval after the engine starts running.

If there is an alarm about a brake fluid deficiency (8), then in addition to checking for the optimal level, you should definitely check for critical wear of the pads.

When the engine is running, the airbag status icon (26) should not light up if the active safety system is working properly and is turned on.

Control system controllers

The electronic control unit (ECU) is the “heart” of the vehicle’s electrical system. Replacing a controller is a difficult operation that requires professional knowledge and understanding of the operating algorithm of the vehicle's electronic system.

ECU firmware

Auto tuning enthusiasts resort to the first method. When installing non-standard camshafts, timing parts, or replacing the standard throttle valve with analogue versions, it is necessary to change the firmware. Otherwise, the car will generate dozens of error codes at the first start. Non-standard parts change the algorithm of the ignition system. The operation of “reflashing” the ECU should only be performed by specialists.

The second option is used in the event of a malfunction in the electronics, leading to a complete failure of the vehicle control system. Such a malfunction can occur either due to a manufacturing defect or due to mechanical damage to the controller. Specialists completely clear the electronics memory, and then install the standard control program again.

After any ECU flashing, the stage of setting up and adjusting the car follows. All parameters are checked: the quality of mixture formation, the actual fuel supply, the sequence of cylinder operation, the temperature in the combustion chambers, etc.

It is worth noting that only by reinstalling the controller operation algorithm can the vehicle’s original factory power be restored to 100%. This is achieved by removing “forced locks and restrictions” that the ECU system activates when the cylinders malfunction.

If two icons are lit, “exclamation mark” and ABS

This often happens when two icons light up on the instrument panel at once, for example, an “exclamation mark” and an ABS icon (or a stabilization system icon in the form of a “car on a crooked path”).

Since the car’s braking system is often very closely connected with the ABS system (Anti-lock Braking System) and the motion stabilization system, if a malfunction occurs in one of these systems, the second may also stop working and/or be forced to turn off on-board computer. Therefore, if two icons appear on the instrument panel at once, you will have to look for a fault in two systems at once.

If, after troubleshooting the brake system, the icons on the panel do not disappear, then you will have to look for it in the ABS system (or stabilization system). However, it is necessary to make a reservation that it is very unlikely to find a malfunction in the ABS or stabilization system by simple inspection, so if two icons appear at once, it is best to immediately contact a car service center (or read the errors yourself).
