The sensor operates on the principle of a thermistor, that is, with a change in liquid temperature, it changes its resistance and transmits these readings to the engine control unit, which, after receiving the readings, regulates the fuel mixture, and also, if necessary, turns on the engine cooling fan.

Many may notice the sensor working when starting the engine in the cold season; when the engine starts, you can see increased idle speed on the tachometer, which begins to fall as the engine warms up. This is the obvious work of the temperature sensor, which begins to change its resistance as the cooling liquid warms up.

Is it possible to put

Let us immediately note that converting the air conditioner into climate control on the Lada Vesta is quite possible. To do this, just select the necessary components and allocate time for replacement. Installation can be done in a garage or at a service station. At the same time, you need to be prepared for some difficulties associated with the selection of components, installation and operation of some equipment. We will dwell on this issue further below.

  • Relieve the pressure in the engine cooling system by unscrewing the expansion tank cap;
  • Remove the air filter box;
  • Remove the connector from the sensor;

  • We install the new sensor quickly so that coolant leakage occurs as little as possible;
  • Add coolant to the level and assemble everything in the reverse order, not forgetting to tighten the expansion tank cap.

To install climate control on a Lada Vesta, you need to purchase installation equipment. It includes:

  • Interior temperature sensor (from Renault). Controls the situation inside the car. The part number is 277200005R. Its purchase will cost about 1000-1500 rubles. If you look at a disassembly site, the costs may be lower.

  • Evaporator/air temperature sensor. Here you can use part number 277230128R. As in the case discussed above, this is a part from Renault. When purchasing a new spare part, you need to be prepared to shell out about 5,500 rubles. When disassembled, such parts are cheaper - up to 2000 rubles.

  • Control Panel. To replace the air conditioner with climate control on the Lada Vesta, you need the main trim itself. Buying a panel with buttons and a screen costs 4500-6000 rubles. If you search on forums, you can find it significantly cheaper - up to 2000 rubles.

  • Controller For correct operation of the device, firmware is required. If you take a product from disassembly, there is no need for adaptation. Instead of interior/air temperature sensors and connectors, experts recommend purchasing a prepared DS-KK type harness.

Its cost is about 3300 rubles. At the same time, you can save money on installation and avoid violations. If installed correctly, the climate control will work correctly on Vesta. The harness contains the necessary mating elements for standard connectors, the control unit and the main panel of the system.

Consider a few points:

  • When purchasing a used controller for installation on Vesta, look at the production date. If the device was manufactured and released in 2015, it will not work correctly. Take parts that were produced starting from 2016. They function correctly and there are no compatibility issues.

  • After installing climate control on a Lada Vesta, instead of an air conditioner, you need to “register” the device in the TsBKE or modify the system control unit. If this is not done, the rear window heating will not work due to different types of signals. In particular, on a regular air conditioner the control is analog, but on Vesta’s climate control it is digital using a CAN bus.

How to install
