While operating the vehicle, the “Check Engine” indicator may light up on the instrument panel at any time. The manufacturer has equipped the Opel Astra N with a large number of various sensors to monitor the operation of the most important vehicle systems. These sensors, like other mechanisms, have their own service life. If the “Check Engine” light comes on, it means that a malfunction has occurred in one of the systems, preventing the normal functioning of the vehicle.
To quickly and effectively troubleshoot a problem, you can use a dealer scanner that is able to recognize and decipher errors. Or do the so-called “pedal test”. Let's talk about what error code 059761, 001161, 170000 and other common designations mean.
Diagnostic procedure for Opel Astra H
Not every driver has at his disposal a scanner that allows him to quickly obtain all the information regarding vehicle system malfunctions. To display all errors on the dashboard display, the car owner needs to perform basic steps to display a list of errors without the use of third-party devices.
For Opel Astra H with manual transmission:
- Press the accelerator and brake pedal.
- Wait a few seconds and then start the car engine.
- Without releasing both pedals, wait until the display shows a six-digit number.
For Opel Astra H with automatic transmission, the procedure is slightly different:
- Turn the ignition key to the on position.
- Press the brake pedal with moderate force.
- Set the gearbox selector to “Drive” mode.
- Turn off the ignition by turning the key and release the pedal.
- Then simultaneously press the brake and gas pedals and start the engine.
If the control unit contains several error combinations, they will be displayed one after another. If the computer has not recorded any errors, six zeros will flash on the display. The advantage of this method is accessibility and saving money on diagnostic devices. But this method is somewhat complicated and requires a lot of time. The control panel does not provide decoding of the codes, which means that the owner of the Opel Astra H 1.3, 1.6, 1.8 must independently look for answers to all questions that arise.
Video
Channel “Pasha aGs - Video PRO Opel Astra H and more!” in his video he showed how to reset the InSP reminder counter on an Opel Astra H.
Folks, I decided to check the errors with the pedals today and this is what I discovered (it wasn’t there before). I looked on the website to see what the error was and this is it: Low input signal of the intake air temperature sensor circuit.
What is this? What to do? And what are the dangers if you drive like this for now? Thanks in advance everyone for your answers!
Added 03/30/2016 I forgot to write)) I bought an intake air temperature sensor, but 2-3 days later, after checking with the error pedals, it turned out that it had disappeared))) So here it is) The sensor is at home, maybe I’ll install it when I change the oil)
How to decipher errors?
Each error in the car system has its own designation of six characters. The fault code is displayed in the first four digits and the value in the last two. If only five digits are displayed on the display, then you need to add a zero to the end yourself. As a rule, in any modification of the Opel Astra N it is not possible to record the letter designation of the error on the instrument panel, despite the fact that each code includes a Latin letter that serves to identify the problem unit in the transport system.
- B – presence of problems in the vehicle’s electrical system (window lifters, switches, alarm, airbag);
- C – problems in the chassis of the vehicle;
- P - indicates errors in the Opel Astra N ECU and transmission;
- U – error in one of the control units (parking sensor control unit or security system).
For a station wagon and a sedan, the method for reading errors is identical. Due to the specifics of its design, the Opel Astra H modification with a diesel power unit has its own error code combinations that are unusual for its gasoline counterparts.
Decoding codes
To decipher codes (fault codes for Opel Astra H), it is important to understand the conventional letter designations adopted by the manufacturer. Is it P, B, C or U .
- Code P – operation of the Opel Astra H engine and (or) automatic transmission.
- Code B – “body systems” (airbag, power windows, central locking, etc.).
- Code C – chassis system (chassis).
- Code U is a system of interaction between electronic units (for example, to the CAN bus).
Important: using the diagnostics described above, you only get errors of type P****. Faults of types C****, B**** and U**** can only be read using special diagnostic equipment!
For example, code 000970 is U 000970, that is, U0009 (symptom 70). Its reading (decoding) – no HS-CAN communication, bus shorted.
The second position (number) indicates:
- “0” (zero) – common for OBD II codes (OBD II codes are standardized fault identifiers);
- “1” and “2” (one and two) – year of the manufacturer;
- “3” (three) – reserve.
The third position is the type of fault.
- “1” and “2” (one and two) – fuel system or air supply;
- “3” (three) – ignition system;
- “4” (four) – auxiliary control;
- “5” (five) – idle;
- “6” (six) – ECU or its circuits;
- “7” and “8” – transmission.
Positions 4 and 5 are the serial number of the error.

Error 059761
One of the most common errors in the Opel Astra system is 059761. The thing is that the manufacturer decided to equip the Astra with an old-style thermostat, which has many weak points. One such place is the rubber ring. This seal is often corroded by the coolant, which leads to further jamming of the thermostat damper. The same thermostat is installed on the Chevrolet Cruze, but with one single difference - it is modified and does not have an o-ring. Owners of the Opel Astra N, in the event of problems with the thermostat, most often opt for the Cruze copy. Therefore, the most reasonable and expedient action if error 059761 appears is to replace the thermostat.
Error code 59761 on Opel Astra H
As a rule, when such a code appears, the car owner notices that the vehicle stops warming up by more than 80 degrees. Some people in this situation decide to insulate the car on their own. For example, when error code 059761 appears on an Opel Astra H, some people use specialized car blankets or insulation for saunas. Often this helps correct the situation. Typically, such events lead to the car starting to warm up to 97 degrees when driving along the highway.
However, it is not always possible to get rid of error code 059761 on the Opel Astra H so easily. It may also mean that the malfunction is due to incorrect operation of the coolant (coolant) sensor. If you replace it, the car will start to warm up as expected. Therefore, if error code 59761 reappears on the Opel Astra H, it is worth carrying out a full diagnosis of the car. It's better not to delay this.
Error 001161
Most often, long before the “Check Engine” light comes on, the first oddities in the operation of the power unit are observed. When starting the engine “cold”, the driver may observe an unusual rumble. As a rule, the strange sound disappears after a few minutes of warming up. The thing is that the camshaft gears have special thin steel partitions that collapse over time due to oil starvation. The first symptoms of a serious problem make themselves felt at the turn of 60,000 kilometers. It is best not to wait for error 001161 to appear and to make important decisions in advance. You can get by with little damage if you replace broken old gears in time.
How to reset service intervals?
The inscription InSP appears on the instrument panel in the place where the mileage is displayed. Its appearance depends on mileage readings, which are usually in the range from 8,000 to 10,000 km. This is an index that shows the time until maintenance. To avoid errors when operating your car, you should know how to correctly reset the service interval.
To reset errors on the Opel Astra H, you need to perform the following steps:
- Turn off the ignition.
- After the daily mileage appears on the screen, you need to press the reset button.
- Next, while holding the button pressed, you need to turn on the ignition. Keep the button pressed for at least 10 seconds. After this, InSP will first flash, then the maximum mileage will appear.
- When the inscription stops flashing, this indicates that the service interval has been reset to its initial state.

Error 170000
The malfunction coded 170000, also known as P1700, indicates a problem with the transmission control module. This is an annoying, “floating” error that haunts many car owners. It is found in a modification with an automatic transmission, and can act as a characteristic of a breakdown of the shift cable or speed sensor. It is necessary to take a comprehensive approach to eliminating it, since in each case the methods of dealing with the error may differ. If 170,000 is detected, the first thing we recommend is:
- Blow out the structural elements of the box.
- Check connectors and contacts for damage.
- Carefully inspect the automatic transmission selector.
- If oxidation or damage to the wires is detected, solder and extend them.
It is necessary to carefully inspect all the wiring, because any hard-to-reach element can be damaged and cause a “Check Engine” to appear. If you cannot fix the P1700 yourself, it is best to go to a service center or seek the help of a qualified electrician.
How to check?
In modern electronics with computer chips, systems are bypassed for the “administrator”. This is a set of actions that triggers the on-board computer to display error codes by flashing lamps. To view the error codes of the Opel Zafira B without resorting to paid reading services using devices, use this bypass system. The manipulation schemes are very simple, but differ for vehicles with different gearboxes.
To diagnose a vehicle with a manual transmission, follow these steps:
An example of an error code on a car dashboard
For the automatic transmission of the Opel Zafira B there are a little more steps, but the meaning is the same:
It is important to activate the limit switches when “calling” errors. To do this, squeeze the gas all the way until a click occurs, and at the same time press the brake pedal.
Error 011517
If 011517 is displayed on the dashboard, then the coolant sensor will need to be replaced. Owners of the Opel Astra N note the following sign of a breakdown of this mechanism: after a long period of inactivity of the car, followed by ignition, the radiator fan turns on. The cost of the new sensor is relatively low - 700 rubles. You can replace a failed element with a new one with article number 13 38 370.
The replacement procedure is as follows:
- We remove the battery and the chip from the coolant sensor.
- Pull up the locking spring and hold it in one position.
- We remove the old coolant sensor.
- We install the new mechanism and clamp it with a locking spring.
Then you need to reinstall the battery and start the car engine. The car should warm up first in a small circle, and then in a large circle. The control unit test should show a fluid temperature of about 23 degrees.

| The code indicates low voltage in the electrical network. The cause must be sought in the generator or battery. |
P0570 | Code 0570 stands for malfunction of the acceleration signals of the cruise control system |
P0571 (057108) | On the Opel Astra H13 and other models, code 0571 indicates a fault in the brake light switch electrical line. It is necessary to check the wiring in the area from the pedal to the fuse box, as well as from the mounting module to the rear lights. |
P0683 The code could be:
| The code indicates a fault in the glow plug circuit. It is necessary to check the integrity of the wires, make sure there are no kinks or signs of damage to the insulation. If defects are found, the electrical circuits must be replaced. |
P1113 (111306) | Code P1113 reports increased voltage in the electrical circuit of the twinport position controller (hole deactivation). Description of the main ways to fix the problem:
|
P1120, P2120 (212052) | These error codes mean that the cause of the problem is due to damp or clogged contacts on the electronic gas pedal. If a malfunction appears on the dashboard of cars manufactured in 2006 or other years, the owner should wait until the contact elements dry out. If this does not help, you need to turn off the power to the pedal and dry it yourself or replace the device or sensor. |
P1405 | Code 1405 reports the absence of a feedback signal from the USR valve. A detailed check of the device and its replacement if necessary is required. |
P0140 Code options:
| The code indicates an incorrect signal from the oxygen sensor |
P0141 (14104) | Code 0141 indicates a break or damage in the electrical circuit of the heating device of the oxygen controller. Either this is a breakdown of the sensor, or a “glitch” in its operation. First of all, it is recommended to check the operation of the corresponding fuse installed in the control unit. If all elements are intact, the contacts on the oxygen sensor are diagnosed; in case of damage or oxidation, they are replaced or cleaned. If these steps do not help resolve the problem, a new controller is installed. |
P1112 (111261) | Problems with the voltage supplied to the intake air sensor. You need to use a multimeter to find out the operating parameter on the wires. The appearance of code 1112 may be due to a failure of the controller itself. |
P1590 | Increased voltage in the electrical circuit of the vacuum magnetic valve. A possible cause of P1590 may be a shorted conductor. |
P1607 | Code 1607 indicates a malfunction of the clutch system drive unit. It is necessary to check the assembly, in particular its brushes, the latter are replaced when worn. You should also run a drive test and evaluate its operation - the unit should not jam; check the voltage. |
P1612 | Failure of the immobilizer or incorrect signal coming from the device. It is necessary to diagnose the unit control unit, check all contacts and integrity of the wires. |
P1614 The code could be:
| The code appears as a result of a lack of communication between the immobilizer and the chip installed in the key. If the engine lock is keyless, then the problem may be with the electronic tag. You need to check the battery in the key and diagnose the immobilizer control unit. The error may occur as a result of installing a security system on the vehicle with automatic engine start. |
P1616 (161600) | The code stands for "invalid ID received from the electric steering column control unit." It is necessary to check the module, as well as the quality of communication with the device. The cause of the problem may be damage to one of the wires connected to the unit. |
P1630 | The control module receives an incorrect signal from the fuel quantity magnetic valve. With this problem, the dashboard may display incorrect data about the amount of fuel in the tank. |
P1700 (170000) | Combination 1700 appears on vehicles with automatic transmission (automatic transmission) and is usually accompanied by jolts while driving. The cause of the malfunction may be damage or rotting of the cables that go to the transmission lever. To find the problem, you should check all structural elements of the unit for defects. In some cases, the cause is electronics. |
P1723 | Failure of the automatic transmission control relay or damage to its electrical circuit. You need to check the contact elements on the device. |
P1734 | On Opel Corsa D and other models it can be deciphered as “adaptation of the grip point has not been completed / carried out.” The error is typical for robotic gearboxes. It is unlikely that you will be able to determine the cause of the malfunction on your own, so more detailed diagnostics of the transmission will be required. A possible problem could be that the contacts on the box control unit are disconnected. |
P1735 | The literal interpretation of the combination is “gearbox parameters not memorized.” The car owner needs to diagnose the transmission unit control unit and check its contact with power. Damaged wires are replaced with new ones. |
P2102, P2103 (210300) | Malfunction in the throttle valve motor circuit. |
U2102, U2103, U2105 | Lack of communication with the CAN-Bus bus. When code 2103 appears, it is necessary to carry out detailed diagnostics of the electronic component of the car. |
P2120 (212006) | The code appears as a result of a clogged or damp electronic gas pedal. The “Check Engine” error may light up on the instrument panel for a short time and disappear on its own if the contacts on the device dry out. If the indicator is constantly on, you will need to disassemble the pedal and clean its contact pad. The malfunction may also lie in the sensor itself installed on the device. |
P2182 Other format:
| The ESP code can be literally deciphered as “the electrical circuit of the refrigerant temperature controller is outside the operating range.” In fact, the regulator readings diverge from the normalized ones stored in the memory of the engine control unit. Ultimately, the power unit cannot reach operating temperature, which leads to increased fuel consumption while driving. Possible causes and solutions:
|
P1811 | Code 1811 means there is no signal about the engine torque coming from the CAN module |
P0621 Errors may appear as:
| The code indicates incorrect voltage in the vehicle's on-board network. Typically, the Check Engine in such cases lights up along with the low battery indicator on the control panel. However, the problem may also be related to the generator device, in particular its diode bridge or voltage regulator. A possible cause is sometimes oxidation of the generator contacts or rotting of its wiring, so you need to check these components first. |
U0009 | Mismatch in the operation of the car's digital CAN bus as a result of disconnecting the battery while the engine is running. The appearance of the code may be due to problems in the electronics or operation of the control unit. In practice, the error usually disappears on its own after a certain time. |
U0073 | Data transmission via the microprocessor module bus is disabled. It is necessary to check the integrity of all wires connected to the unit. Damaged electrical circuits must be replaced. |
U0100 | No communication with the powertrain control module |
U0101 | System error indicating lack of communication between the ECM and TCM modules |
U0121, U2108 | There is a malfunction of the data bus, in particular, the microprocessor module cannot determine the connection with the anti-lock braking system control unit. ABS failure may occur when driving on ice. |
U0140 | Communication with the body control unit is lost |
U1000 | Error code 1000 indicates a lack of communication with the control module of the power unit as a result of a violation of information transmission via the CAN interface. The problem may be a fault with the electronic key control unit, body or engine. There are two ways to troubleshoot the problem:
|
U2100 | Translation of the error in Russian is “lack of communication with the CIM bus.” The cause of the malfunction must be sought in the generator device, in particular, in its contact with the on-board network. A possible problem may be with the relay controller of the installation. The code can be displayed as 65070 characters. |
U2103 | Lack of communication with the CAN-BUS interface. You need to check the integrity of the tire. |
C0561 | Incorrect signal received from the TCM module |
Error code | Engine malfunctions |
P0011 The code could be:
| Error 0011 often appears after replacing the timing belt. The appearance of this code is associated with incorrect distribution phases. To eliminate the malfunction, the user must diagnose the correctness of the installed shafts (align the marks on the crankshaft and camshaft). In some cases, the cause is malfunctioning solenoid valves. |
P0014 Combinations can be displayed in variations:
| Deciphering code 0014 on the Opel Astra Z16XEP and other models is a malfunction of the solenoid valves of the engine camshaft phase shifters. To solve the problem, you will need to clean the contact elements. If these actions do not help eliminate the malfunction, then the valves are replaced along with the camshaft gears. With this problem, it may be difficult to start the engine. |
P0017 | Incorrect position of the crankshaft and camshaft. It is necessary to diagnose the sensors of both units, as well as check the integrity of the gears. |
P0068 Other format:
| The code should be read as “throttle unit malfunction”. With this problem, jumps in engine idle speed are possible, as well as an increase in fuel consumption. A possible reason may be damage to the plastic valve cover, which led to air leaking into the crankcase of the power unit. |
P0170 The codes may vary:
| Code 0170 may indicate that the microprocessor module has detected errors during the formation of the combustible mixture in the engine cylinders. The power unit may operate unstably at idle and while driving. Items to check:
|
P0171 (017152) | Combination 0171 indicates that the combustible mixture is lean. The error may be accompanied by an increase in fuel consumption, especially when idling (consumption may increase to 2-3 liters). Most likely, the reason is a malfunction of the vacuum brake booster membrane, which caused air leaks into the power unit. The problem may be accompanied by uncharacteristic sounds in the operation of the amplification device. To eliminate the malfunction, you will need to replace the vacuum booster assembly. In addition to this node, the causes of the problem may be the following:
|
P0299 | The appearance of code P0299 may be due to the following reasons:
The appearance of this code is due to the following symptoms;
|
P0300, P0301 P0302, P0303 Errors may be:
| Code 0300 indicates a general misfire in one of the engine cylinders. 0301, 0302 and 0303 - indicate, respectively, that the error is in the first, second and third cylinder. To eliminate the cause, you need to check the compression and all sensors that affect the formation of the air-fuel mixture. This means:
Possible causes of the malfunction:
|
P0400 | Code 0400 indicates a failure in the exhaust gas recirculation system. To eliminate the problem, you need to check the integrity and tightness of the assembly pipes; if necessary, damaged lines are changed. |
P0402 (40274) | The code indicates excess flow of gases in the recirculation system |
P0420 Codes may appear as:
| Malfunction 0420 indicates problems in the operation of the catalyst. If error 4205A occurs, the unit must be fully diagnosed and replaced if it fails. |
P1220 | Malfunction of the throttle control system. If error 1220 occurs, the unit will undergo diagnostics; if the mechanism is stuck in the open or closed position, it needs to be lubricated. |
P2119 (211965) | Code 2119 indicates a problem with the throttle control system. The device casing may be damaged or the sensor may fail. The reason may also be that the damper is stuck in the open or closed position. |
P2101 (210111) | The appearance of combination P2101 indicates a malfunction of the throttle assembly, in particular its electric motor. You need to check the valve itself and make sure that it does not stick in the open or closed positions when moving. In some cases, lubrication of the device will solve the problem, but most likely the motor itself will have to be changed. |
P2261 | The vacuum tank of the bypass valve is faulty and may be damaged. The reservoir is located behind the intake manifold, in the central part. To correct the error, the first thing you need to do is check the integrity of the tank. To do this, you will need to blow out the pipes, but you need to remember that the defect may be minor and invisible at first glance. If there is a hole in the reservoir, it will have to be replaced. |

Error 001463
Over time, owners of Opel Astra H with high mileage begin to worry about an annoying problem with the code designation 001463. It signals a malfunction in the solenoid valves of the camshaft phase shifters. First of all, you need to clean the valves; often after such a simple operation the problem disappears. Then swap them, it may be that the problem is hidden in the electromagnetic mechanism itself. If the manipulations do not lead to a positive result, then the only correct solution will be to replace the camshaft gears.
They said thank you:
I got these errors when I tried to start the car with the battery charging 10.5 V, the electronics did not start. I charged the battery, now everything is normal, errors remain in the memory, and currently there are errors in
zeros
I charged my own battery and added someone else’s one to calm my conscience - to no avail. The electronics of the car do not go to sleep after removing the key, I will use the rolling shutdown method to localize which unit is acting up. In general, the battery and transponder chips in the keys are clearly not to blame. It’s also too early for the notorious “marten bite” - just two years in greenhouse conditions is not a long time. Yes, and there are no other manifestations of problems, everything else works normally, OP-com sees all the blocks if you start it. then it drives without errors or tricks.
Having to no avail jumped around with a multimeter around electronic blocks, circuits from TIS and forum posts, I used the old Russian recipe - a hammer. After tapping it on the lock body in the area of the contact group, the buttons on the key sometimes began to open/close. Then the electronics went into battle again: after carefully looking at the statuses of the lock itself (and not the key and buttons as at first), OPcom discovered an interesting little thing. After removing the key from the lock, the statuses could periodically remain active or Ignition or Accessories when tapping on the case could return to normal or change places. What’s interesting is that the “key in the lock” and “starter” positions were always worked out correctly. The lock was cleaned and oiled at the very beginning of history. I pulled out the cylinder again and turned the mechanics with a screwdriver several times in both positions, then set it to the initial position with a screwdriver and returned the cylinder with the key to its place, and lo and behold, everything worked. I checked all the keys for opening/closing/starting - drove it - checked everything again. It works for now, BUT today we only had minus 8. And at minus 20 the problem may return again. According to a preliminary diagnosis, the culprit turned out to be the contact group of the ignition switch, maybe it was broken, or maybe some kind of lubricant inside was freezing. Has anyone taken the case apart by chance?
Error 062104
Even experienced Opel Astra owners sooner or later wonder: what does error 62104 mean? It occurs with any problems associated with the diode bridge or generator regulator. In some cases, the battery lack of charge indicator may periodically light up. The problem is solved by repairing the voltage regulator. To do this, you need to dismantle the air filter, the attachment belt, move the outer roller to the side and remove the generator itself. Disassemble the regulator and clean all the contacts that attach it to the generator. Reassemble in reverse order and reinstall.
Other faults
If you look at the list of Opel Astra H error codes, you can find the basic definition of the malfunction. In most cases, this allows you to independently adjust or replace the desired unit. Among the less common errors is code 017011. In this case, it is worth paying attention to the composition of the mixture, which is most likely too lean. Among the additional signs of malfunction, it is worth highlighting increased fuel consumption. As a rule, it starts to be about 2.5 liters per hour. The main reason for this malfunction is damage to the brake element vacuum booster membrane. Because of this, air is not sucked into the motor correctly. Sometimes, when idling, the car owner even hears the air starting to hiss in the body. The only way to get rid of the breakdown is to completely replace the vacuum seal.
Similar problems are observed when the numbers 017012 appear as an Opel Astra H error code. In Russian, this malfunction sounds like “too lean mixture.” In this case, the problem may be the same as described above or be associated with a malfunction of the oxygen sensor. There are other malfunctions that do not bother car owners so often.
For example, error code 11517 “Opel Astra H” indicates a failure of the sensor responsible for the operating temperature of the engine. It is located in the thermostat. In fact, the problem is similar to code 059761, since we are talking about problems with the coolant. However, in this case, most often the problem lies in the so-called chip, a small part of the thermostat. Similar problems are indicated by error code 218217 on the Opel Astra H. In this case we are also talking about a temperature sensor. But this designation is found much less frequently among vehicle owners.
In addition, code P0195 may occur. It stands for problems associated with too hot lubricant poured into the car’s power unit. Also in this situation, it is worth checking the proper operation of the corresponding controllers.
If there is a sharp increase or decrease in the level of fuel fluid in the gas tank, then P0460 will appear on the control panel. In this case, you will have to check and, most likely, replace the fuel sensor.
It is also worth paying attention to the last digits of the code. Sometimes they say that the error is due to improper operation of the ABS system. For example, if the number 35 appears on the panel, car owners should check the pumping equipment, or rather, its electrical part. Often it is in this node that a short circuit occurs or some of its elements are damaged. When this error code appears, the system notifies the car owner that it cannot receive a response from the pumping equipment. In this situation, it will have to be repaired or completely replaced.
Code 37 may also appear. If the driver sees it, then it is most likely that the pedal responsible for the brake is malfunctioning. As a rule, the problem is solved by restoring the broken wiring.
When code 45 appears, it is worth checking the functionality of the electrical circuit that is connected to the rear wheel, or rather, its sensor located on the left side of the vehicle. The controller you need is probably missing or damaged. In this situation, you need to replace or install it.
If the code contains 48, then you should pay attention to the microprocessor indicators. Most likely, the voltage in the on-board system has increased too much. In this situation, it is recommended to carry out diagnostics and make sure that the battery and the generator are working properly. The battery must be carefully inspected. Perhaps its integrity has been compromised. You also need to make sure that there is electrolyte inside the battery. Additionally, it is worth purchasing a multimeter. Using this device, which is desirable for every car owner, you can check the power supply and voltage of the vehicle's electrical network.
Error 161450
After removing and installing the battery on a car, error 161450 often appears, symbolizing a problem with the connection between the immobilizer and the ignition key mark. It can be eliminated by subsequently removing the battery with the ignition key installed in the initial position. Some drivers prefer to completely disable the immobilizer, but to carry out this procedure it is necessary in any case to go to a service center to get a universal key. But it is advisable to resort to such a procedure only in extreme cases.

Error 210870
Code 210870 can be deciphered as a problem with the ABS sensor. The best way to determine its condition is by checking the electrical circuit. If the test gives a disappointing result, there is nothing left to do but replace the device yourself, or seek help from a specialist. Each driver can complete all the work by adhering to the following procedure:
- Loosen the CV joint nut with a key set to “32”.
- Remove the brake hose clip to further remove the caliper.
- By unscrewing the two “18” bolts, remove the caliper.
- Be careful not to break the brake hose.
- Unscrew the three bolts to remove the hub.
On Opel Astra H 1.3, 1.6, 1.8, the ABS sensor is pressed into the hub; its removal is only possible by applying uniform blows with a hammer while engaging it with a screwdriver. There is no need to completely replace the hub; it is enough to purchase a sensor separately and install it in place of the failed one.
Video
The process of resetting the service indicator is shown in the Amazing Road TV video.
I have long planned to do a mini maintenance, change consumables, eliminate oil leaks on all sides of the engine and, to be on the safe side, change the timing belt, since I would still have to get into the engine. who the hell knows when it was last changed (and it would be better if this engine flowed like a bitch and I drove constantly with a can of oil and filled in 300-400 ml per 1000 km) It was purchased: BOSCH timing belt Gates timing pulley (I don’t know which one, which is absolutely died) German oil ADDINOL premium 5W-40 5 liters Camshaft seals 2 pcs O-ring oil cap gasket KK oil filter Denso spark plugs air filter. I don’t remember anything yet. My mirror cover has finally arrived. at least he's ok! THIS IS THE SUBJECT IN GENERAL! Since there is a blockage at work right now, the car goes to my brother for service and is repaired there during the day. bro calls, says everything, your baby is no longer flowing! we satisfied her! I'm bringing you a car. I go out to meet him and he’s not there! On the way, his KK gasket breaks, and by the sound of the hydraulic valves or whatever, realizing that something is wrong, he opens the hood, and everything under the hood is covered in oil! The gasket whistles and sucks air. The car goes back to the service center, where they sealed the torn gasket for a couple of days while the new gasket was being installed, and everything seems to be ok! The car drives, there is no oil pressure! but my engine turned into a diesel! and with a strange knocking sound, as if a valve was knocking! A car with a key came out on the panel, the idle speed dropped from 800-1200. The first thing they thought was that it was a belt, they took everything apart again and saw that the timing belt had slipped by 1.5 teeth, put it back in place, poured oil onto the couplings with the suspicion that air had gotten in there, and put everything back together. The car with the key disappeared for a day, I think it’s ok. I'll ride like this! The family went to the parade on May 9th. And then I realized that something was wrong, the car jerked, the traction disappeared from 1500-3000, the car just doesn’t go, you press the pedal to the floor and it doesn’t go, you press it again. It goes! WHAT THE HELL! I already had something similar when the KVKG membrane ruptured. I check the errors with the pedals and there: 011014 - low input signal of the intake air temperature sensor circuit 001166 - mechanical position. Exhaust camshaft timing is outside the performance range. 017011 - O2 sensor, rich exhaust gas As far as I understand from the side of the operator and driver... 1st error is crap, it either jumped out at the same time, or you can simply erase it, and all 2nd error most likely affects the sound of the engine! because of this diesel engine and the speed fluctuates, you need to check the positions of the gear shafts and other crap that is there. Well, the third mistake, as I understand it, is related to the fact that while the gasket is in place, a large proportion of air enters the intake system. because it sucks air from under the valve cover... on my day off I go back to the service center for the fourth time! change to a new gasket, try to clear the errors! who is an expert in these motors, I need your advice!
Error 000970
Another also common error coded 000970. In most cases, it tells the driver that the contacts of the engine compartment fuse box and the engine ECU are damaged, most often due to oxidation. The contacts are restored using special Contact 61 lubricant. The procedure in case of malfunction 000970 is as follows:
- The block is disassembled and the ECU comb is removed.
- The cover is removed from the fuse box.
- The contact is completely removed from the front of the block.
- Three screws are released and the holder is removed.
- All contacts are treated with lubricant.
- Similar work is carried out with the ECU.
It is important to carry out the work with the battery removed from the car. We install the battery back and start the car engine. Then the system is checked again for various errors. It is also important to understand that many digital indications of breakdowns are stored in the ECU memory for some time. There is no need to rush and reset it quickly. It is enough just to continue using the vehicle, and soon all pre-existing errors will be overwritten with new data.
Instructions for verification
To correctly read fault codes on Opel Astra cars, there are several ways. Diagnostics using an adapter will allow you to get an accurate result, but you will need a laptop and software to perform it. The self-diagnosis procedure is performed without the use of third-party equipment, but when performing it, the type of transmission must be taken into account. The check process will be different for manual and automatic transmissions.
If everything is done correctly during the diagnostic process, the message ECN (Error), as well as combinations of faults, will appear on the display in the dashboard where the mileage is displayed. They are made in the form of six-digit numbers. If there are several problems in the operation of the engine and main systems, the on-board computer will show them in turn. When the fault demonstration procedure is completed, a code of six zeros will appear on the instrument panel. If the diagnostics showed a combination consisting only of zeros, then no problems were identified in the vehicle’s operation.
The first four characters displayed on the device are the fault code, and the remaining two digits are its description. If the diagnostics shows only five digits, then to decipher the malfunction you must add a zero before the code.
To diagnose a car with a manual or robotic transmission, the following steps are performed:
For vehicles with automatic transmission, the diagnostic procedure is performed as follows:
Diagnostics with adapter
For a more accurate check, you can connect a computer or mobile device to the diagnostic connector. Direct connection of such equipment with the on-board computer is impossible, but there is an option to use universal OBD class adapters. It is desirable that the device supports Bluetooth operation. If diagnostics will be carried out using a mobile device, then software will be required; one of the universal utilities is the Torque application.
After downloading the software, you can begin diagnostics:
The channel “PC Repair!/IT_Comp_As” talked about performing diagnostics using a mobile device and Torque software.
Using the utility, one of the machine operating modes is selected. The car owner can independently change, remove or add the necessary controllers for testing.
With the standard settings of the utility in online mode, you can control the operation of the following parameters:
To add other controllers for testing, the following steps are performed:
Universal adapters that work using the Bluetooth protocol allow you to check errors using other equipment in addition to mobile devices. The main thing is that it supports such a communication standard.
Diagnostics with a paper clip
Schemes of 10- and 16-pin connectors for the Opel Astra
Checking with a paper clip allows you to determine malfunctions in the ABS anti-lock braking system. If problems occur in the operation of this unit, a light indicator appears on the control panel and the device itself turns off. To activate the diagnostic mode of this system, you need to close two contacts at the output using a paper clip or a piece of wire. The contact elements to be closed are shown in detail in the photo. The connector itself is located in the engine compartment of the car.
After closing the contacts, the ignition is activated and the light indicator on the device will show the problem code, if it is in memory. If the car is equipped with a sixteen-pin output, then a paper clip or a piece of wire closes elements numbered 5 and 6. If there are no malfunctions in the ABS system, then the Check Engine symbol on the dashboard will blink and go out. If there are problems, the on-board computer will display a four-digit combination in a series of blinks.
There is a short blink in each series of code. A longer pause is used to separate faults from each other. All combinations are repeated three times, and then the next code comes. Failures are displayed on the dashboard in ascending order. After completing the troubleshooting cycle, there will be a pause, and then all the codes will repeat again.
When diagnosing faults in an Opel Astra, you need to close the correct contacts with a paper clip to prevent damage to the on-board computer.
User Konstantin Pr0gra2Mer spoke in detail about diagnosing all systems using a paper clip.

Other problems
On some Astra GTC cars with a 1.8-liter Z18XER engine, error 017011 is observed, indicating that the mixture is too lean. At the same time, there is an increased consumption of gasoline at idle speed - about 2.5 l/h. The reason lies in the damaged membrane of the vacuum brake booster, through which air leaks into the engine. In some cases, at idle, you can hear a quiet hiss of air in the amplifier housing. There is only one way to solve the problem - replacing the vacuum assembly. A close one is error 017012, which can also be interpreted as an excessively lean mixture. In this case, the cause may be a damaged membrane, clogged injection nozzles, or impaired operating parameters of the oxygen sensor.
Engine errors
If the “Check Engine” icon lights up on the dashboard, you need to pay close attention to this warning. As a rule, it is accompanied by the Opel Astra -H error code 030101, 030201 or 030401. In this case, it most likely means that misfires have begun to occur. If we talk about additional “symptoms,” then car owners often note the appearance of jerks while the car is moving. The engine "triples". Additionally, there is an increased consumption of the fuel mixture. If this happens, then it is necessary to evaluate the condition of the ignition module. Often this particular unit fails. Unfortunately, it is almost impossible to repair it, so you will have to make a complete replacement.
If the car has high mileage, error code 212052 may appear on the Opel -Astra H. Such a digital notification indicates that dampness has occurred inside the electronic pedal. Or some of its modules were dirty. In such a situation, it is worth paying attention to how often the check engine light comes on. If this only happened once, then there is nothing to worry about. Most likely, the dirt will soon fall off or dry out and the operation of this unit will be restored. If another substance gets on the connector and cannot simply evaporate, the error will appear again. In this case, you need to disassemble the electronic pedal and thoroughly clean the contacts.
Owners of new or relatively “young” cars may encounter error code 001161 on the Opel-Astra H. As a rule, the malfunction appears immediately after the car owner tried to replace the timing belt on his own. It is worth checking how correctly the valve timing functions. The shafts may have been installed incorrectly. Also, such errors often appear if the phase regulator sensors work with errors. It is necessary to conduct a clearer diagnosis and identify the exact problem.
Opel Astra error codes there are also those that inform the vehicle owner about problems related to the condition of the wiring. Most often, such problems are also not critical, but it is not recommended to ignore them.
