First, we try to do this by hand; if we don’t have a puller at hand, we try to wrap the filter housing with coarse sandpaper in two layers. As a last resort, we pierce the body closer to the bottom with a large screwdriver and use it as a lever. Filter puller. We take a new filter and fill it with fresh oil, about two-thirds full. Lubricate the sealing ring on the new filter with new oil and screw it into place by hand. No additional effort is required during installation. New oil filter installed. We tighten the drain plug. If necessary, add oil, tighten the filter and plug.
