I completely agree with the statement that you should not have your car serviced by an authorized dealer. These are incomprehensible spare parts, wasted time and often completely incompetent employees. And to be honest, it’s scary to leave your car unattended in such places. This has been written about many times and it really is true. That is, I initially decided for myself that I would not allow any officials to approach my car even within gunshot distance. The first oil change on my Lada Largus took place at a regular service center.

Regulations for changing engine oil in Lada Largus

Engine oil has its own shelf life and performance properties. It is believed that motor oil should remain inside the engine for no more than 1 year. After this, it becomes unsuitable for further use.

In fact, technical fluid should be replaced more often than once every 10 thousand kilometers. If there is constantly fresh oil in the crankcase, the engine life will increase. In addition, performing this procedure frequently will reduce the likelihood of carbon deposits forming on the pistons and, as a result, will eliminate increased oil consumption in the future.

How to drain engine oil

You will need : buy engine oil and an oil filter, prepare a “10” wrench, an “8” square wrench, a clean cloth, an empty 5 liter container. and a wire brush.

The engine oil should be drained after a trip while the engine is still warm (if necessary, warm it up to operating temperature). It is recommended to drive the car onto an overpass.

Procedure:

1. Unscrew the oil filler plug.
2. (At the bottom of the car on the engine crankcase), clean the drain plug with a wire brush, then unscrew it. Be careful not to burn yourself!
3. After all the oil has run out (about 10 minutes) into a previously placed container, clean the plug from dirt and screw it back.

Under the plug there is a steel washer on the surface of which a thin layer of rubber is vulcanized. If it is damaged, replace the washer with a new one. If you do not have a new washer, you can install a copper washer with a hole diameter of 18 mm under the plug.

What kind of oil and in what volume is poured into the Largus engine

It should be noted that this car uses five engines:

• 8 valve - VAZ-11182;
• 8 valve – VAZ-11189;
• 8 valve – K7M;
• 16 valve – K4M;
• 16 valve – VAZ-21129.

Each engine has its own crankcase volume. In this case, the manufacturer pours the same oils into all engines of the same manufacturer. In this case, arguing about which oil is better for Largus is pointless. However, there are several good options:

According to the passport, the volume of the VAZ 21129 crankcase is 3.5 liters. But paired with a box from Renault, its volume increases, as an empty cavity appears as a result of using the adapter plate.

The table shows the brands of motor oils that the manufacturer pours into its engines within the walls of the enterprise. These same liquids are used when visiting a dealership. However, it is not prohibited to pour the following brands of oils:

• Shell Helix Ultra 5W40;
• Mobil;
• MANNOL ENERGY JP 5W-30;
• Shell Helix HX-8;

Domestic engines are less sensitive to fluid quality, unlike their counterparts from France. Therefore, they are able to digest even low-grade domestic oils and are not afraid of counterfeits.

In addition to the engine oil, you must select the appropriate filter. The articles are as follows:

Stages of replacing lubricant Lada Largus

Changing engine oil on this model occurs like on most cars. The main rule is to use the lubricant recommended by the manufacturer. Or purchase analogues that meet the required tolerances.

Lada Largus cars, as well as cross modifications, are equipped with 1.6-liter gasoline engines:

• 8 valves - K7M (VAZ-11189);
• 16 valves - K4M (VAZ-21129).

Draining waste fluid

To drain oil from a Lada Largus, it is desirable to have a pit or overpass, since the main actions will take place from below the car. Therefore, we place the car above the technological ditch, go down into it and remove the engine protection from below. To do this, you need to unscrew the 6 bolts under the head by 10mm.

When everything is ready, we proceed directly to the drain:

Raise the hood, then find the filler neck on the engine and unscrew the plug (Fig. 1).

• Now we go down under the car and place a waste container in the drainage area. You can use a cut canister or an old bucket.
• There are many complaints about the original drain plug regarding unscrewing, so it is better to prepare a new one for replacement (order code 21120101106100). The old one can be unscrewed with a 8mm hexagon, but there is a high probability that the splines will be torn off. Therefore, first you can take a hammer and gently tap it through a wooden plank. After this, the plug should come out easier. If the plug does not fit anywhere, you can use a gas wrench; it is located below the pan, so there is a place to grab it (Fig. 2).

  
  Fig.2 Drain plug Now you need to unscrew the oil filter. You can try to do this from above from the engine compartment. There seems to be access, but the filter often sticks, there is not enough hand strength, and you can’t get to it with a puller (Fig. 3).

But before that, it is advisable to unscrew the crankshaft position sensor using a 10mm wrench. We also remove the wires going to it. Now you shouldn’t break anything, you can unscrew the filter itself.

  To unscrew the filter element, it is advisable to have a special puller. If it is not available, you can try to unscrew the filter using improvised means. For these purposes, you can use, for example, an old alternator belt, a regular belt, a bicycle chain or a simple screwdriver.

  This method will allow you to drain as much of the used oil as possible, after which you can proceed to further actions. The main thing is not to forget, everything that we unscrewed must be put back in place.

  Flushing the lubrication system

  Engine flushing on a Lada Largus car should be carried out only in exceptional cases, which include:

  1. Purchasing a used car when you cannot be sure of the quality and regularity of lubricant replacements.

  During operation, the service replacement interval was repeatedly exceeded.

• Engine operation with constant frequent overheating, which contributes to coking and other deposits.
• In cases of switching to another type, for example from synthetics to semi-synthetics.

There are several types of flushes for the Lada Largus engine:

• Five- or seven-minute, capable of cleaning even the most difficult deposits. They must be used very carefully and strictly follow the instructions printed on the packaging. It is recommended to use them only when absolutely necessary. Since there is a high probability of causing premature wear of the sealing seals. • Special compounds that are added to the oil several hundred kilometers before the expected change. They are more gentle, but there is also a possibility of clogging of the oil channels.
• Flushing oil is the most gentle method of cleaning the engine from the inside. This composition is poured after draining the waste, the engine runs for 15-20 minutes, after which the liquid with deposits is drained. The absence of aggressive additives in the wash composition gently cleans the engine, but is not able to remove heavy contaminants.
• Regular oil that you are going to use when changing. This method is not so popular due to its high cost.

Before washing your Lada Largus, you should weigh all the pros and cons. And also understand that it will not be possible to completely drain the liquid. Some of it will remain in the channels, which will then mix with the new oil.

Installing a filter, filling in new engine fluid

If the Lada Largus lubrication system is sealed and does not require repair work to eliminate leaks, you can proceed to adding fresh oil. In addition to the oil itself, we will need a new gasket-washer for the drain plug 21080101106200. As well as the original Livna oil filter 2108-1012005-08. But recently, dealers have begun installing LADA 2105-1012005-82 filters.

Step-by-step instructions for changing the oil in Lada Largus

This event is divided into several main stages:

1. Drain old oil.
2. Replacing the filter element.
3. Filling with new engine oil.

Each stage has its own nuances, so they need to be considered separately.

How to drain old oil on Largus

To do this, you need to install the machine on an inspection hole, overpass or lift. The engine must be warmed up. Remove the engine protection, and place a container of at least 5 liters with a wide filler hole under the pan. Unscrew the drain plug:

Lada and Renault engine plugs may vary, but their location is always at the bottom of the engine.

To make the oil drain faster, unscrew the filler cap. This will make it easier for air to enter the crankcase. As soon as the old fluid begins to drip occasionally (after about 10 minutes), the filler plug can be screwed into place. Replacing the oil filter on Largus

For VAZ and Renault engines, the filter is located on the side of the cylinder block. Naturally, it has differences, but dismantling it is no different.

It must be turned counterclockwise until it comes off. At this point, a small amount of oil may leak from it. A special tool is used to remove the oil filter.

When dismantling the filter element on the K4M and K7M engines, it is necessary to disconnect the negative terminal of the battery or cover the generator with a large rag. The fact is that the distance from the filter to the positive wire of the generator is minimal and there is a risk of causing a short circuit that will harm electrical equipment.

The filter must be twisted and unscrewed with force, but with bare hands. If it does not give way even with the help of a special tool, you need to break it with a long screwdriver and tear it off using the resulting lever.

To install a new oil filter, lubricate its rubber seal with a small portion of new oil and tighten it, observing a tightening torque of 12 Nm.

Pouring new oil into the engine

There is nothing complicated in this procedure. Use the following procedure:

1. Make sure the drain plug is tight and the oil filter is replaced.
2. Place a funnel in the filler hole and pour the required amount of oil into the engine.
3. Start the car engine. Make sure the oil pressure light goes out within 5 seconds. Stop the engine.
4. After 3-4 minutes, check the oil level. If it does not meet the standard, drain the excess, pump it out, or vice versa - add the required amount.
5. Make sure the level is correct.

Signs of a clogged oil filter

The main purpose of the oil filter is to clean the circulating oil from impurities. They arise during the production of lubricating fluid, friction of mechanisms, and temperature changes.

A pressing issue for many car owners is identifying signs of the need for replacement . These usually include:

• extraneous sounds in engine operation, twitching, vibration;
• reduction in engine power, activation of the emergency light;
• change in lubricant color, appearance of sediment, burnt odor.

However, experts do not recommend waiting for such factors to manifest themselves. These signs already indicate malfunctions in the system and increased wear of parts. To prevent costly repairs, attention is paid to preventive measures and timely replacement of the lubricant and oil filter.

Regarding the operation of the filter itself, its throughput is emphasized. When worn, it decreases, which limits the supply of lubricant to the operating mechanisms of the engine.

Many car owners, instead of completely replacing the oil filter, clean it and return it to its place. This option is allowed as a temporary measure, however, for a long-term effect, the filter element must be changed along with the oil.

Why can the oil level in a Largus engine change?

Sooner or later, every car owner may face the problem of decreasing engine oil level. There are several reasons for this phenomenon:

• natural oil consumption;
• reducing its quantity due to leaks.

In the first case, the problem may appear after 150 thousand kilometers on Lada engines. As the piston rings and valve stem seals wear out, lubricant enters the cylinders and begins to burn along with the fuel. In this case, appropriate engine repairs with replacement of faulty elements will help.

Leaks appear due to wear of the oil seals of the moving parts - typical for all four engines. But VAZ engines are also characterized by gasket leaks, which are absent in Renault.

Which oil is suitable?

The choice of motor oil (hereinafter referred to as MM) for replacement in the 16 valve Lada Largus engine is the first difficulty faced by a car owner who decides to replace this consumable. We need to dwell on this point in more detail, since many Lada owners often make mistakes when choosing motor fluid.

As mentioned above, the quality of this consumable material affects the operation of the engine, as well as the wear resistance of the elements of the internal combustion engine system. From the factory, the 8-valve valve on the Lada Largus will be filled with ELF SOLARIS RNX material. The viscosity of the material is 5W30. There was another option - LUKOIL Genesis RN 5W40. Renault pours ELF oil into its 8-valve valves: brand – Excellium NF, viscosity – 5W40. This company recommends using another material - ELF Evolution SXR 5W30.

SOGEFI brand oil filters are supplied to Renault factories. All filters suitable for the K7M motor are marked as follows - 7700274177. And on the same lines they produce substitute analogues: LS218 (Purflux brand), PH11774 (FRAM), FT6129 (Fiaam).

The crankcase drain hole is closed with a metal plug. The article numbers for this part are 7703075348, 7703075210, 7703075347 and 7903075033. There is a washer under the plug. It is designated as follows: 110265505R, 8200641648, 7703062062.

Two options for spacers

In the last, that is, in the third case, we are talking about a copper ring. Washers with rubber bands include the first and second articles.

Anyone who tightens the cork without the washer should then be offended at himself. In general, the washer can be made of copper (d=16.7 mm).

Step by step instructions

First of all, open the lid of the container where the oil itself is located. To do this, you will need to unscrew the 6 bolts securing the power apparatus protection and remove the protection located there. For this job you will need a "10" tool head. Clean the neck with a brush, preferably a stiff one.

Next, you need to slightly loosen the plug of the hole from where the oil will drain. After this, the plug can be unscrewed without the help of additional tools, just with your hands.

But be extremely careful! Use gloves to avoid getting burned, as the liquid being drained is at a high temperature.

The liquid will flow into a container you prepared in advance (at least 5 liters). This will only take about 15 minutes, so be patient as the oil is completely extracted. While you have not yet tightened the plug, pay attention to this detail: if the rubber gasket of the iron washer under the plug turns out to be burst or torn, then it is better to replace it immediately.

Engine oil for Lada Largus

Lada Largus is a small-class station wagon jointly developed by Renault and AvtoVAZ OJSC, built on the B0 platform of the Renault-Nissan alliance. The car has been produced by AvtoVAZ since 2011 and is a Dacia Logan MCV model adapted to Russian conditions.

This is due to the fact that the more viscous 5W40 is better suited for hydraulic valve compensators. Therefore, no matter what kind of lubricant it is, it must have these characteristics.

Checking the level of the substance in the transmission occurs in several stages. For this purpose, the car has a special plastic probe. This unit has special marks that show the current fluid level. This part is located on the body in the engine compartment. To check the oil level of the Largus transmission, you need to open the hood and remove this dipstick. After this, you need to wipe with a dry cloth, insert and remove again. The level of the substance at the dipstick mark will correspond to the actual level. If this indicator drops critically, it is necessary to top up the product to the optimal value and inspect the box for any faults.
