How to unlock the buttons on the Starline alarm key fob

In this article, auto electrician Alexey Molotov answers the question “How to unlock the Starline A91 alarm system?”

A security system on a car is a useful thing. Modern alarms report attempts to break into a car and have many other functions. The owner can use the buttons and keys on the remote control to set the turbo timer mode, useful for turbocharged engines, or configure autostart parameters. When configured, the engine turns on at the desired time or at the specified temperature.

How to disarm the security mode and turn off the system when the key fob is not working can be found in the article.

Deactivating the Starline A91 alarm using the Valet button

When installing a security system, make sure you know where the Valet service key is installed. If you did not have the opportunity to obtain this information, then you should find it, because with the Valet button you can reset the Starline alarm. It is located in the following places:

  • center console, under the decorative plastic near the steering column;
  • the button can be located under the glove box or in the compartment;
  • near the ashtray: inside or under it;
  • sometimes the Valet reset button may be located inside the small pockets;
  • near the central tunnel, between the seats;
  • next to the fuse box;
  • in close proximity to the pedal assembly;
  • on the door cards.

Troubleshooting

It’s quite simple to understand why the alarm system and control from the key fob are malfunctioning - there are not many breakdowns here, and they are all known:

  • faulty electrical wiring (disassemble and restore the integrity of the contacts);
  • lack of power supply (battery is dead - needs to be replaced);
  • the fuse in the key fob has burned out (replacement only);
  • The software is frozen (reboot the device).

If the steps taken are not successful, it is recommended to seek help from a specialist.

If the car alarm does not respond to the key fob

The anti-theft device may stop responding to commands from the control panel for several reasons:

  • The battery in the key fob has run out and is blocking the operation of the device (battery replacement);
  • moisture got inside the device and oxidized the contacts (disassemble, dry, clean the contacts);
  • the key fob fell or received a strong blow, resulting in damage to the internal microcircuit or contacts (repair or replacement of the device);
  • Buttons stick (need to be disassembled and cleaned).

Important! The key fob will not work for a trivial reason: you did not slam the car door, and there is no full contact between the surfaces

Rebooting the alarm when the system hangs

Car alarms have their own software, which sometimes tends to freeze, after which the alarm stops responding to commands. Remove the terminal from the car battery, wait 5 minutes and return the terminal to its place. After power is applied and the system is turned on, the software should start correctly.

Attention! The siren may sound, but this is a normal reaction of the system

Replacing fuses

Fuses often burn due to electrical overload and turn off the alarm. If you suspect that they are to blame, you should check the fuses:

  • for sound;
  • on the positive wire of the battery;
  • for emergency lights.

The check is carried out visually or using a special tester.

Checking car alarm wiring

Electrical wiring should be left for last, and if you do not have the skills to repair electrical systems, it is better to contact the service center specialists. The system will be ringed at the stands, the damaged area will be determined, and then repaired or replaced.

Troubleshooting on the go

This is the most common problem in anti-theft systems, due to which you cannot put the car on the alarm, or remove it from the alarm to unlock the engine start.

First, check the batteries, then bring the key fob to the central unit of the alarm system and try to turn it on again. If it doesn’t start, the breakdown is serious and you need to contact a service station.

Disarm the Starline A2, A3, A4, A8, A9 alarm system

The system shutdown algorithm for these models is simple. The alarm instruction includes four steps.

  1. The key must be used to open the car door. The alarm will sound.
  2. Insert the key into the ignition and turn it on.
  3. We get to the Valet alarm button. Press it three times for 20 seconds. This is true for Starline A1, A2 or A4 systems. To turn off the A8 or A9, press the Valet key four times.
  4. The vehicle will sound an alert and the alarm will turn off. After this, the alarm will be turned off, you can start the engine with the key or reconfigure the system. If you fail to press the Valet button within the 20-second timer, you will no longer be able to turn off the alarm.

How to turn off alarm systems of different models without a key fob: step-by-step instructions

Let's start by looking at the order for series A1, 9, 8, 4:

  1. The machine door opens with a key. This is not an emergency method.
  2. There is no need to start the engine, just activate the ignition.
  3. Next comes the use of the Valet button. In the case of models 1 and 2, 4, you need to press three times. In others it is necessary 4 times, for at least 20 seconds.
  4. Ignition off. If everything is correct, the systems are deactivated. The symbols should not appear.

Disconnecting the Starline A6 alarm system

This model is different from the rest of the series. The Starline A6 or A61 car alarm is turned off immediately only after entering a personal code. If the owner does not know it, then it will not be possible to disarm the car. Initially, the secret alarm combination is 11, but it can be changed. It is the owner's responsibility to know the correct number.

  1. We open the door with the key (the alarm works) and activate the ignition.
  2. Press the Valet button the number of times that corresponds to the first digit of the secret code.
  3. Turn off the ignition and turn it on again.
  4. Press the Valet alarm key the number of times corresponding to the second digit of the secret code.
  5. Turn off the ignition. The hazard lights and siren should stop working. Now the lock is removed and you can start the engine with the key.

Unlocking Starline alarms of other models is also carried out by entering a secret code. The owner must know the combination of numbers.

Replacing the VAZ 2114 fuel filter: instructions for performing the work

Regular vehicle diagnostics and maintenance help avoid breakdowns. The VAZ 2114 fuel filter must be replaced in a timely manner. The device is located in the fuel system, the breakdown of which negatively affects the functioning of the engine.

Main reasons for replacement

The fuel filter on a VAZ filters out various impurities in gasoline using a special material. The cellular structure of the device in question becomes clogged during operation. In this case, malfunctions occur in the operation of the vehicle’s power unit. Replacement of the fuel filter is required if the following symptoms are present:

  • the vehicle stalls at idle;
  • gasoline consumption increases;
  • presence of failures in the performance of the motor;
  • The engine power decreases, it throttles;
  • failure to start the engine;
  • VAZ 2114 twitches while driving uphill;
  • braking during movement.

If the VAZ 2114 filter is very dirty, this may indicate the following problems:

  • malfunction of the crankshaft position sensors;
  • incorrect throttle position;
  • mass air flow;
  • detonation;
  • wiring fault;
  • failure of spark plugs.

The pressure gauge is connected to the nipple located on the fuel injector frame. If the pressure gauge readings are lower than those regulated by the manufacturer, the device is cleaned.

The fuel purifier is made in the form of a cartridge built into the fuel system of the VAZ 2114. It can be inspected on an overpass. The main elements of the fuel system are installed in front of the exhaust pipe. The vehicle is equipped with injection power units with a working volume of 1.5-1.6 liters. The operating pressure for the fuel filter on the VAZ 2114 ranges from 3-5 bar.

Instructions for performing work

The VAZ 2114 fuel filter can be replaced at a service station or independently. To do the work yourself, you will need the following materials and tools:

  • O-rings;
  • a new filter with a suitable design;
  • open-end wrenches 10, 17 and 19 mm;
  • 2 containers.

It is recommended to carry out repair work in a well-ventilated area. Due to the high flammability and combustibility of gasoline, safety precautions must be observed. You should not smoke and avoid open sources of fire nearby. It is imperative to protect the skin and mucous membranes from contact with fuels and lubricants.

  • fastenings are treated with lubricant;
  • remove the fuel line fitting using 17 and 19 mm wrenches;
  • the filter can be held with a 19 mm wrench;
  • the remaining gasoline is poured into a previously prepared dry and clean container.

The fitting of the fuel outlet line is removed by analogy and the remaining gasoline is drained from this area. The clamp is loosened with an open-end wrench by 10. The used cleaner is dismantled. To remove the pipes in models with a 1.6 liter engine, you will need to press on the spring clamps of the fuel line. Now a new gasoline purifier is being installed.

O-rings are replaced with new analogues. Drops of gasoline that fall on the filter must be wiped dry. When replacing the fuel filter, install the new device in the reverse order. There is an arrow on the purifier body indicating the direction of movement of the fuel flow. In models with a 1.5 liter engine, the arrow should point from the right side to the left, in cars with a 1.6 liter engine - vice versa.

Then you need to wait until the air is displaced from the new purifier and filled with fuel. The next stage involves checking the tightness of the connections. The engine is started for a few seconds. A check is made for the presence of gasoline leaks. If necessary, you will need to fit the tubes tightly onto the purifier.

The fuel filter on a VAZ is replaced every 30 thousand kilometers. Filling your car with low-quality fuel with a large amount of impurities shortens the service life of the purifier. In this case, the device is replaced every 10 thousand km.

Disarm without Starline A91 key fob

If you decide to buy an alarm system of this family, then its emergency shutdown occurs in a different way.

  1. Open the car door with the key.
  2. Before turning off the Starline A91 alarm, you should look at the turns. If they blink four times, this means that the car has entered security mode without a key fob.
  3. Turn on the ignition and press the Valet button three times within 20 seconds.
  4. Turn off the ignition. As confirmation, the siren will sound twice, indicating that it is completely disabled.

This method is relevant for systems model A91 or A94.

What car owners say about disabling the immobilizer

1. Driving break and switching off

“Before repairing an immobilizer or flashing a key, I always ask the client about the background of the issue. That is, I wonder what reasons or actions led to the failure of the IMMO.

After analyzing the information received, I found out that most often the occurrence of problems was preceded by a severe discharge of the battery. Most often the charge drops below 9 Volts. This phenomenon is very common in winter, but it also happens in summer. For example, a motorist went on vacation, leaving the car in the garage. Before leaving, I checked the battery charge, it was normal. Two weeks later I returned and discovered that when I tried to start the engine, the message “immobilizer activated” came on, and the indicator in the form of a car with a key was blinking.

Therefore, I recommend that in case of planned long-term downtime of the machine, remove the terminal from the battery

In winter, this precaution will be very important. Without exception, all immobilizer failures occurred when the battery discharge occurred smoothly." 2

Immobilizer chip device

2. Immobilizer chip design

“The key contains a chip that contains a special code. The immobilizer detects the chip and reads the code. Therefore, if suddenly the IMMO gives an error, then two options are possible: the chip in the key has failed or the code stored in the memory is damaged or lost. When the chip is broken, you can use a spare key or contact the dealer for a new one if the car was purchased at a dealership. In case of problems with the ECU memory, it is necessary to restore the original code there, which matches the chip code.”

3. Removing the immobilizer lock

“Disable Lock mode:

  • Turn off the ignition.
  • Turn on the ignition with the registered key.
  • Wait 5 seconds.
  • Turn off the ignition
  • Repeat steps 3 times.
  • The engine should start.

Lock mode is the locking mode. It is activated if there have been several attempts to start the engine with a key without a chip.”

4. How to prevent damage to the immobilizer unit

“Having once encountered an immobilizer failure, you don’t want to repeat this sad experience

Therefore, we take certain precautions. The main one is to prevent the battery from being discharged. You should also exclude lighting from other cars or power sources, since the sensitive ECU does not tolerate such procedures well.”

You should also exclude lighting from other cars or power sources, since the sensitive ECU does not tolerate such procedures well.”

5. Is the immobilizer effective against theft?

“For a good attacker, it is not difficult to disable IMMO. After all, somehow cars get stolen. There were cases when the car, in addition to the immobilizer, was equipped with additional security devices, but this did not prevent theft.”

How to unlock the engine under the alarm?

If you need to travel with a non-working system, you can physically turn it off. It is enough to find a special central unit, located under the front panel of most cars. The fuse box is installed here, as well as the CAN bus harness.

The alarm diagram contains a description of the terminals that are responsible for connecting the Starline system, as well as contacts for the blocking relay. The last three should be connected to each other. Even if you were unable to disable the system using the Valet button, you can go to the service center.

Immobilizer repair

The immobilizer is designed in such a way that a breakdown of one of its blocks disables the entire system. Most often malfunctions occur for the following reasons:

  1. Device software malfunctions. It can be solved by flashing the immobilizer if you have service access to the system program. Since 1998, PIN cards with an access code for reprogramming keys are not issued, but, if necessary, are requested from an authorized dealer. Re-flashing takes place at the car service department after providing documents on the ownership of the car.
  2. If there is insufficient contact between the receiver and the antenna, which is a consequence of shaking, oxidation of the contacts, or contact with dirt or grease. In this case, contact is not lost immediately, but after some time. To eliminate the malfunction, turn off the power to the device. Disconnect the antenna from the receiver and treat the contacts with a means that removes foreign deposits, and if necessary, tighten the contacts.
  3. Poor contact of any electrical wiring connector. The problem is similar to the previous breakdown, and to carry out repairs, the immobilizer wiring is removed, and then the condition of each contact in the connector or block is checked. Their surface is cleaned with a special agent and, if necessary, pressed.
  4. Controller failure due to low battery voltage. The problem occurs when the battery is discharged during a long stay or when electrical appliances are turned on for a long time with the engine not running. To restore normal operation of the controller, the battery is disconnected for 30 minutes. In 4 out of 5 cases, fully charging the battery restores operation of the device. If this does not help, diagnostics of the controller is required, after which it may require flashing it or registering a new key.
  5. The key fails when exposed to a strong magnetic field. Possibly near powerful transformers, microwave ovens, welding and other similar devices, after which the chip requires repair or replacement. But sometimes failures occur in which the device is blocked, after which the car becomes immobilized. To get out of this situation, contact the appropriate service, or, if you have certain knowledge and equipment, unlock it yourself using a laptop and a PAK bootloader.

Ways to reset (zero) the Starline alarm

Sometimes, in order to connect additional devices or carry out other procedures, a factory reset is required. It works like this.

  1. Turn on the ignition. Then press the Valet service button 10 times.
  2. Turn off the ignition. 10 signals will sound indicating that the car has entered the factory reset mode.
  3. Press the Valet key again and listen to another siren signal.
  4. Press button 1 on the key fob, going to the factory settings. A short sound will confirm the success of the procedure.
  5. Turn on the ignition to confirm the command. The side lights flash five times (see video).

Deactivation of modern Starline models: A93, A94, E95

Let's start with the common StarLine A93, which, although based on the outdated 4th generation (the first to introduce modularity of the central unit), still remains popular (see the Starline A93 instruction manual). Since this generation of alarms already has full support for cars with a “Start-Stop” button, the code entry mechanism has been modernized - it is not necessary to turn the ignition on and off between entering individual numbers, you can press the brake or raise the handbrake). The mechanism for setting the type of PIN code and its task have not changed - we already wrote about this recently.

Why doesn't the alarm go off?

However, sometimes it happens that Starline presents problems when emergency disarming is required. The procedure for disabling the alarm may be required in a number of cases.

  1. Failure of the control panel. If this problem occurs, you should check the key fob battery or car battery. The remote control itself will indicate that the battery has a low capacity - a low battery icon will appear, and it will play a melody. There may be other reasons - the key fob may break due to moisture or burnout of the tracks along with the microcircuits. You will have to open the car without the key fob, and take the device itself to a service center for repair or replacement.
  2. Damage to the control unit. The system receives a signal from the key fob buttons, but the unit itself refuses to operate and execute commands. The driver can press the corresponding button - the protection mode is removed and then reinstalled. If the system malfunctions, you should start the car manually.
  3. Antenna malfunction. There may be a mechanical failure of the receiving module, as a result of which it does not receive or process input commands. A failed antenna must be repaired or replaced.
  4. Spontaneous operation. A car alarm can go off for no apparent reason: turn on the siren, turn on the optics, block the engine, lock the doors. Then the owner's remote control will receive messages about a hacking attempt. If there are no prerequisites for this, then there is probably a short circuit in the circuit itself.

Turn off the car alarm

Most drivers do not know how to turn off the alarm on their car. In this case, in order to turn off the standard alarm, you must know the sequence of actions to be performed. The result of these actions will be the alarm exiting the alarm mode into the service mode, after which you will be able to find out the cause of the malfunction in the system. The ALLIGATOR D-810 alarm can be turned off in two modes - emergency (without using a transmitter) and standard (using the “Valet” button). If you did everything correctly, the alarm will turn off. If you want to transfer the car for long-term storage without an alarm function (for example, to a car service), you can use the built-in “Valet” mode function. Also, be sure to find out what kind of alarm system is installed on your car, and accordingly, study the sequence of actions to disable it.

Is it impossible to disarm the car? If you entered the code correctly, the security mode will be disabled. Use the key to open the door. The alarm is activated. Without starting the engine, turn on the ignition. That's it, the alarm is turned off. Wait until the beeps stop.

That is, the driver presses the disarm button on the remote control, the protection is removed, and then reactivated. If the control unit does not respond to signals, it will also not allow the engine to be unlocked, and accordingly, operation of the vehicle will become impossible. If the antenna adapter fails, the signal transmitted from the key fob to the control unit and vice versa will not be able to reach the end devices. Perhaps it is the siren itself - a short circuit in the control circuit often causes it to turn on randomly. In any case, first of all, the car owner will have to disable the anti-theft system.

The alarm is blocking the engine: how to remove the blocking

Engine start blocking is a function that is on the list of available options in almost any anti-theft system. In this case, the system contains an immobilizer that identifies the owner by a special tag and allows the engine to start. Conventional car alarms that have a similar function in their arsenal can also block the engine from starting.

According to experts who work with automotive electrical equipment, more than half of all cases of unexpected engine failures to start are directly related to car alarm malfunctions. Note that the complexity of implementing locks in this case is noticeably simpler compared to complex anti-theft solutions. This significantly increases the chances of removing the engine start lock yourself in the event of a breakdown or malfunction. Next, we will look at what the driver should do if the alarm blocks the engine from starting.

Remote engine shutdown

Starline A91 allows you to remotely turn off the car engine both to prevent theft (the interlocking circuits should in this case break the wiring sections necessary for the engine to operate, and not block the starter), and to terminate the autostart early.
In the first case you will need:

  1. Program function 8 of the service menu in advance (see procedure above) to value 1 or 2. In the first case, the engine, after turning on the “anti-robbery” mode, will be turned off the first time you press the brake pedal, in the second - immediately.
  2. To directly turn off the engine, simultaneously press and hold buttons 1 and 2 on the key fob.

Disabling the anti-robbery mode will require pressing button 2, as with normal disarming.

To turn off an engine running on autostart:

  • On the main key fob, press button 2 for a long time, then briefly press button 3.
  • The additional key fob does not provide the ability to turn off the engine.

Engine blocking with car alarm

If there are installed anti-theft systems, electrical equipment is responsible for blocking the engine start. Immobilizers or car alarms may be faulty and cause constant or occasional failures during operation.

It should be added that the severity of the problem will depend not on the specific model or brand of car, but on the complexity of the installed anti-theft security system.

Accidental activation of the engine lock function

First of all, carefully study the displayed icons on the alarm key fob. A common cause of blocking is accidental activation of additional functions. It is also necessary to monitor the readings of the LED indicator light (if equipped) in the vehicle interior, which serves as a light indicator of the alarm status. Flashing LED lamps in most cases indicate that the anti-theft function of the immobilizer is activated in the menu.

If, after turning the key in the lock and turning on the ignition, the warning lamp blinks frequently (for example, the StarLine car alarm) before starting the engine, and a pictogram with the inscription “immo” is displayed on the key fob itself:

  1. One way to solve the problem is to remove the key from the lock, after which you just need to press the button to open the central door lock on the key fob.
  2. You can also get out of the car, set the alarm to security mode, then disarm it and then start the engine.

In other words, you need to make sure that the alarm operates in the normal mode that is familiar to the owner. Up to 30% of cases of engine start blocking by alarms occur due to accidental changes in program settings. The driver’s task is to disable all unnecessary functions in the settings.

Disabling the anti-theft system without a key fob

Sometimes there are cases of loss of the Starline security system control key fob or its complete malfunction. Then you need to turn off the alarm manually, namely:

  • Coded deprotection.
  • Normal emergency removal.

To use these methods, you need to know exactly the location of the secret Valet button (switching the car to the service state). This button is most often located near the control levers, in the area of the safety block, behind the glove compartment, near the steering wheel or under the car panel.

Secret Valet Button

If you do not find the service button, then you need to contact the company where the alarm was installed or call the previous owner of the vehicle.

To disconnect a car from the security system without using a key fob, you need to use the correct algorithm. It depends on which starline anti-theft system is installed on the car. Let's take a closer look at the algorithm for unlocking the anti-theft system, depending on the model.

Starline A1, A2, A4

Disabling these security system models depends on the operating method of programmed option No. 5. If you use the shutdown method without entering an individual password, then you need to do the following:

  • Open the door.
  • Start the ignition for a few seconds.
  • Press the service button 3 times.
  • Turn off the ignition.

If you use the disabling method by entering an individual password, then you need to do the following:

  • Open the door and start the ignition for a few seconds.
  • Press the service button several times (the number of presses is equal to the first digit of the individual password).
  • Turn off and then restart the ignition.
  • Press the service button several times (the number of presses is equal to number two from the individual password).
  • Turn off the ignition.

Starline A6

To disarm a vehicle on which this anti-theft system is installed, you need to:

  • Open the door and start the ignition.
  • Press the secret button several times (the number of presses is equal to number one of the personal password).
  • Turn off and restart the ignition.
  • Press the secret button several times (the number of presses is equal to number two of the personal password).
  • Turn off the engine.

Starline A8, A9

If your car has an alarm system of this model, then to unlock it you must do the following:

  • Open the vehicle door and turn on the ignition.
  • Press the secret button 4 times within a few seconds.
  • Turn off the engine.

If the programmed method is automatic arming, then after turning off the engine you need to start it again for at least half a minute, and then turn it off.

Starline B6, B9, A62, A92, B62, B92

Disabling these models depends on the state of the programmed option No. 9. If you use the shutdown mode without entering a personal password, you need to do the following:

  • Open the vehicle door.
  • Start the ignition and press the secret button 3 times within half a minute.
  • Turn off the engine.

If the automatic arming mode is selected, then after stopping the engine you need to turn it on again for 15 seconds and then turn it off.

If you use the method of entering a personal password, you need to do the following:

  • Open the car door and turn on the ignition.
  • Press the secret button the required number of times equal to the first digit of your personal password.
  • Turn off the engine.

If a method is programmed with entering a 2 or 3-digit password, then you need to start the ignition again and enter the necessary numbers by pressing the secret button. These steps must be repeated two or three times.

If for some reason the car could not be disarmed, then you need to contact the service department.

Disabling locks using the service button in the cabin

If there are no signs of unintentional activation of engine start interlocks, you can try to unlock the engine using the service mode. This mode is called Valet and is used to transfer the system to service mode. To activate, you need to insert the key into the ignition, turn on the ignition and then turn it off.

After this, you need to hold the service mode activation button for about 10-20 seconds. The result will be a notification using a special short signal, after which the signal lamp (indicator light, LED) will be constantly on. This method means disabling all security functions, which may also mean removing the engine locks. We add that after fixing the problem, it is necessary to activate the security functions of the alarm again.

Disabling the turbo timer

If, in the case of temperature-based start, the mode allows the engine to automatically warm up before driving, then thanks to the turbo timer it gradually cools down. If the need for the function disappears, it can be disabled.

The turbo timer is turned off when the security mode is turned on. To do this, first long press the third button to enter the settings menu at the bottom of the display. Then, using short presses on the same key, select the icon with the inscription “TURBO” and confirm the choice with button number 1. In accordance with the instructions, the “Turbo” button will disappear from the display and a melodic signal from the key fob will sound.

Independent troubleshooting of alarm systems

  • It is often possible to fix the malfunction and remove the engine lock yourself if you can detect blown fuses. This problem often leads to malfunctions of the alarm system. The fuses must be checked; if a problematic element is detected, the blown fuse must be replaced with a known good one.
  • Malfunctions in the operation of the alarm can also be associated with insufficient battery charge or loose terminals on the battery contacts. In this case, the battery is still able to sluggishly crank the starter, but the engine blocking may already work and further prevent the engine from starting.
  • Another step is to check the limit switches (limit switches), which are located under the hood and trunk lid. Moisture ingress or oxidation of the limit switch often causes an incorrect signal to the alarm control unit, which leads to engine blocking. Please note that unprofessional installation of alarms and limit switches, as well as improper engine washing can lead to malfunctions of electrical equipment.

Indication on the key fob screen

There are a lot of animated icons on the display of the main key fob, the main one is the car, and the rest are located around it, most of them are not visible until you activate them.

Selected parts of the car: the hood, the trunk door and the passenger compartment react to the activation of the limit switch and may indicate an unlocked position when attempting to arm the car. When closing and opening the headlights in the figure light up.

The key appearing in the cabin indicates that the ignition is on.

A working exhaust at the rear of the car in the form of smoke signals that the engine is running.

When the word “brake” lights up, which is circled in a rectangle, it indicates that the handbrake is tightened on the manual and the pedal is pressed on the automatic, depending on the transmission of your car.

The activation of the shock sensor is displayed in the form of a hammer raised above the hood of the car.

One of the main indicators is the lock, which by its appearance (closed/open) shows whether the security is turned on.

The status of the sound signal will be indicated by the speaker sign; in silent mode, it will be crossed out.

The bell on top next to the hourglass indicates an alarm clock and timer.

The manual transmission, circled in a rectangular frame, is located at the bottom left of the car; when it lights up, it means that the alarm system is set to autostart with a manual transmission. This function is activated when installing the alarm system and cannot be disabled or activated using the key fob.

Do I need a case for a car battery?

The entire bottom row of icons indicates a menu that helps enable additional settings: periodic autostart, turbo timer, auto-arming and immobilizer.

The thermometer is in the middle of the display on the right, it lights up when asking about the status of the machine, you will see the engine heating numbers in Celsius, in place of the clock.

In the upper left corner there is a satellite icon, which will appear if you connect a beacon that works as a GPS and is an alarm interface.

The word pin code in the frame, located at the bottom left, next to the manual transmission, will light up when you set the secret code in the settings. The code is used to disarm a car without a remote control.

Tips and tricks

If attempts to remove engine locks and start the engine are unsuccessful, then there is a high probability of a serious malfunction or failure of individual alarm elements. The result is random activation of engine locks, which cannot be disabled using standard methods. The faulty car must be taken to a service station, as removing the lock will require professional intervention.

The specified delivery can be carried out by tow truck. Another affordable way is to call an auto electrician who works on-site. Note that the final costs of paying for the service of on-site engine unlocking, disabling the car alarm, emergency opening of locks, etc. often turn out to be less than delivering the car to a service center by tow truck and paying for repairs at a technical center.

Setting the sensitivity of StarLine A91

In an alarm system, one of the most important components is the shock sensor; it prevents burglary and alerts in the event of an accident. It is usually attached to the A-pillar, closer to the driver's feet.

If you need to change the degree of sensitivity, you will have to look for this sensor and turn the balancers that regulate its level: clockwise - increase, counterclockwise - decrease. First, the safety regulator is adjusted, then the alarm regulator. When setting up, the doors must not be closed and the security mode must not be turned off.

Turn on the key fob sound

The Starline A 91 alarm system is an average-priced system and does not have such a function. If the alarm or key fob has lost sound, then you need to contact a service center.

Locking key fob buttons

The function is useful if you carry the key fob in your pocket; to avoid pressing the buttons, you can temporarily disable them. To do this, you need to press the first and third buttons together, and to turn the buttons back on, press the second and third.
