We drain gasoline from the tank on a Lada Granta: no crime!

When does it become necessary to drain the fuel from the tank?

Fuel is drained when the motorist sees that the gas tank is full. Excess gasoline is poured into cans. The procedure is carried out when repair work is required. Situations may arise on the road when you need to provide assistance to a person whose car has stalled. In this case, fuel is pumped out of one car and poured into the gas tank of another.

The gas tank is completely emptied in the following cases:

  1. The fuel filter needs to be replaced.
  2. The pump requires replacement.
  3. The gas tank needs to be flushed. This need arises when low quality fuel was filled at the gas station. If it has been in the tank for a long time, it becomes clogged.
  4. The old tank is replaced with a new one. The need appears when the old one is damaged or worn out.

The motorist must remember that gasoline can only be drained outdoors. The fumes are poisonous and can cause you to get sick, so it is forbidden to drain it indoors. Fuel is often divided in the following situations:

  1. When someone stalls on the road and asks for help.
  2. In order to heat the car interior in a strong snowstorm. While people are waiting for the Ministry of Emergency Situations, there is not enough space in one car, they start a second one. Gasoline is poured into it to heat the interior.
  3. To refuel the generator. Such situations arise when the battery runs out.

To carry out the procedure, you need to have the necessary equipment with you. You should carry a hose equipped with a bulb in the trunk.

Why might you need to drain the gasoline?

It often happens that very low quality fuel gets into the tank, which is dangerous for the car and can even damage some of its components. You can notice such a problem by the fact that immediately after refueling the car begins to move at a jerky pace, or by the fact that the engine stalls and refuses to start again. In this situation, it is necessary to drain the low-quality gasoline and replace it with a new one of higher quality.

But, if in cars of previous years of production this was quite simple to do, using a regular hose, then for the Lada Grant the solution to the situation has become much more difficult.

We drain fuel from VAZ family cars

There are several ways to drain gasoline. Fuel can be drained in the shortest possible time using a hose equipped with a bulb pump. This simple device allows the car owner to remove gasoline from the tank without harming his health. But such a device can be used if the tank does not have a protective mesh at the neck.

There is a simple but effective method. Often fuel needs to be pumped out quickly; the need catches the driver on the highway. For example, this situation arises when you need to save someone. It happens that you don’t have the necessary things with you. In this case, you can use a small diameter tube.

The procedure is similar to the one that involves using a hose:

  1. First, negative pressure is created in the tube using the mouth. The method is not dangerous, so the car owner does not have to worry about gasoline getting inside the body.
  2. When the required pressure has been created, a rope is passed through the tube. It should have a smaller diameter. Its end part is tied in a knot, and the size must match the diameter of the pipe.
  3. The result is a homemade “piston”. It is moistened; saliva can be used for this. After this, the tube is lowered into the fuel tank. It is worth preparing a bucket in advance; gasoline will drain into it. When everything is ready, a rope is taken out of the pipe. We lower one end of it into a canister to collect fuel.
  4. The work must be done slowly. When the piston is completely removed, the fuel itself will flow into the canister. In order to stop the process, you need to raise part of the piston above the level of the tank. After pumping out the required amount of fuel from the gas tank, close it with a lid.

The procedure has several disadvantages, but the main one is that it is impossible to completely empty the fuel system . The procedure becomes more complicated if it needs to be performed on a machine that came off the production line after the 90s. The fuel lines in such vehicles are tortuous.

On domestic cars, gas tanks often have plugs. They are installed so that motorists can drain fuel if necessary. To do this, the car must first be jacked up. After this, place a container of suitable volume next to it and unscrew the stopper.

When working, there is no need to rush; you should make rotational movements. Before starting the procedure, the neck of the tank is opened. This makes it possible to remove the fuel completely. The method is labor-intensive but effective.

Lada Granta Liftback Black Rock › Logbook › Way to drain gasoline

I needed to drain some gasoline for my chainsaw. First, of course, I went to YouTube. There were two ways: drain it from the tank and drain it from the ramp. I tried the first method first. I had a silicone tube about 5 meters long. I inserted it into the tank and as soon as I didn’t turn it, as the authors of the video advised, but I still didn’t get to the gasoline. I decided to use the second method. I took off the decorative cover from the engine, looked all over it with a flashlight, but couldn’t find the fitting that was mentioned in the video. During this time, it got dark and much colder outside, but I didn’t want to retreat. I decided to unscrew the connection between the fuel pipe and the hose. But it was so tight that I was afraid to break off this tube or then not assemble it hermetically. And so, through trial and error, I came up with a simple recipe for extracting gasoline from a car. The whole interior stank of gasoline and now I will tell you how to drain gasoline carefully and easily! We will need: 1. Phillips screwdriver. 2. Flat head screwdriver. 3. Hose with an internal diameter of approximately 8 mm. Clamp for the hose if necessary (I didn’t need it). 4. Gasoline container. 5. A piece of wire 5-7 cm. Procedure: 1. Open the fuse box and find the fuel pump relay. For me it was the top relay in the second column (see photo). 2. Take out the relay. I was only able to remove it using a flathead screwdriver. But there are other ways. 3. Start the engine and wait until it stalls on its own. I didn’t do this, I didn’t relieve the pressure in the fuel line, and that’s why the car stank of gasoline. 4. Raise the rear row seats. We find a slot in the carpet and find a hatch under it. 5. Unscrew the 4 screws with a Phillips screwdriver and remove the cover. 6. We see two large connections indicated by arrows. We need the one indicated by the arrow directed in the direction of travel of the car. Removing it is very simple - with two fingers, press the buttons on the sides and the latch comes off the fitting. 7. We put our hose on the exposed fitting. If it holds with a slight tension, then this is enough. The main thing is not to pinch the hose or break it while draining the gasoline (by accidentally breaking the hose, I doused the interior with gasoline a second time). Don’t forget to lower the other end of the hose into a gasoline container. For convenience, I recommend placing the container on the left side of the car. 8. Take a piece of wire and bend it into a U shape. We need to close the two horizontal contacts where we removed the relay from. These contacts are noticeably larger than the vertical ones; they are power contacts. It's hard to mix it up. That's it, gasoline will begin to flow into the container. The main thing is to put everything back together - connect the line, tighten the hatch and put the relay in place. Important addition: everything you do with the car is at your own peril and risk! Remember that gasoline is a flammable liquid. Be careful and careful!

I’ll add: don’t teach me how to live. If you liked the method, click the button; if you didn’t like it or know better, write. But there is no need to teach. P.S. One smart guy wrote that he, who is so smart and prudent for ELECTRIC tools, always has a canister of gasoline in stock. At first I laughed and began to explain something. And then I thought, go slow to hell, since you’re so smart. Don't consider yourself smarter than others. Everyone's circumstances are different. The advice “buy a drain kit” and “go to a gas station” are not worth a penny. Use your head, friends. All the best!

If the car is fuel injected

Motorists who drive fuel-injected vehicles should take into account that using a hose will not completely remove the fuel. Therefore, you need to open the gas tank and perform the following steps:

  1. Determine where the tube is located. It is located at the bottom of the engine and is necessary to supply gasoline to the ramp.
  2. Remove the clamp and disconnect it from the pipe.
  3. Turn the ignition key.
  4. You need to look at another relay block. You need to understand which of them is responsible for the operation of the fuel pump.
  5. It is removed, then you need to bridge it. To do this, use a paper clip.
  6. Turn on the ignition. Fuel flows into the container.

Drain through the main

Before describing the process, we note that draining the fuel may also be required when restoring the fuel system, cleaning it, and also during the process of replacing the gas tank.

Lada Granta is a modern car, and therefore the “old-fashioned” technique, based on the use of a hose installed inside the tank, will not work here.

Firstly, it is placed too low, and secondly, there are special protective elements. So you will have to use slightly more complex technologies. The first of them is based on draining through a line located in the engine compartment; to implement it you will have to perform the following steps:

  • The nipple located in the side part of the ramp with the nozzles is unscrewed.
  • A hose is fixed to the ramp, the free end of which is inserted into a container the volume of which is sufficient to drain the remaining fuel. You can use any hose, but the easiest way is to fix the product with which air conditioners are charged. It is not only easy to attach, but also makes it possible not to remove the nipple.
  • The fuel pump is activated. You can simply turn on the ignition, but with this option it will only work for a few seconds, after which it will turn off. It is not comfortable. You can extend the operating time by turning on the ignition and then installing a jumper on the pump relay. The main point is that draining should not be done for too long, since this operating mode seriously loads the battery and increases the risk of complete discharge.

Drain fuel from a foreign car correctly

Foreign cars have a complex structure, so it is more difficult to drain gasoline from a foreign car. For example, it is removed from a Camry using a hose. But first you will have to remove the mesh that protects the neck of the tank.

The procedure is complex, so the best option when working with a foreign car is to drain the fuel not from the tank itself, but from the system through which the fuel moves.

First, the car owner must find where the fuel line runs. Beginners should not perform the procedure on their own. The container is prepared in advance; it must be clean.

There are 2 ways to carry out the drain. The first is based on the driver first disconnecting the tube that runs in front of the pump. But you need to be prepared for the fact that the canister will fill slowly, because the diameter of the tube is small.

The second method is based on the fact that the car owner opens the tubes that go after the pump. Then he starts the engine, then the gasoline drains quickly. During the procedure, fuel should not splash onto the ground.

How often do you need to change antifreeze on a Priora?

Coolant is essential for the normal operation of the car - it maintains the temperature of the engine. You can change or drain antifreeze on a Priora in a garage - read the article to the end and find out how to do it. Replacing antifreeze on a Priora car, 16 valves, is done in 6 simple steps.

An ordinary driver can do them. If the cooling system loses its tightness, then antifreeze escapes - this usually happens in cold weather and during severe temperature changes. In case of such a malfunction, it is enough to find the leak and tighten the clamps on the pipes. If there were no antifreeze in the Priora, the engine parts, which during operation overcome enormous frictional forces, would be deformed under the influence of high temperatures, and the efficiency of the engine after such a phenomenon would begin to noticeably decrease - this also happens after the engine boils.

The coolant should be changed for the first time after 75 thousand km or after 5 years. Then replacement is necessary after 40 thousand km or after 2 years. Usually it is indicated on the expansion tanks or in the service book what brand of coolant is filled.

It is not recommended to mix different categories of antifreeze, since manufacturers add different impurities, which, when reacting, can precipitate, which will lead to rapid clogging and failure of the entire system. When changing the brand of coolant, car owners flush the cooling system.

The procedure for replacing coolant is similar on all domestic cars and differs only in the volume of liquid and the location of the drain holes.

Precautionary measures

It is forbidden to jerk the fuel hose sharply, as it may break. When working with gasoline, you must ensure that it does not get on your clothes. It can ignite if there is a spark. This requirement is important if the driver and passengers smoke. It is strictly prohibited to light a fire or smoke while the procedure is being carried out and the container is being filled.

If the driver decides to use the old method, which is based on sucking air from a hose with his mouth, he should be aware that gasoline may accidentally get inside. There is a possibility of fuel being drawn in.

If this happens, your mouth should be rinsed well with water. To avoid this, inhale a little air through the hose, but carefully. We hold its end in our hands.

Method 1. How to drain gasoline using a hose

The classic method that our grandfathers used. To drain the fuel you need to prepare two things:

  • A hose (tube), the length of which depends on the design of the tank.
  • Clean container for gasoline.

In the simplest case, the fuel pumping operation goes like this:

  1. Lower the hose (tube) into the tank so that it is immersed in gasoline.
  2. Cover the free end with your lips and draw in a strong breath.
  3. Direct the hose into the prepared container.

All that remains is to wait for all the fuel to flow out.

To drain only part of the fuel, it is enough to lift the hose above the neck so that gasoline stops flowing out.

Gasoline and octane boosters are harmful to health. Therefore, it is necessary to avoid their entry of fuel and its vapors into the body.

To prevent gasoline from getting onto the mucous membranes or into the stomach, special hoses are used to pump fuel. They are equipped with a bulb that must be squeezed before immersing the tube in the fuel and then released. If the design is not equipped with a check valve, vacuum in the line is created in a simple way:

  1. squeeze the pear;
  2. lower the hose into the gas tank;
  3. plug the hose outlet with your finger;
  4. release the rubber bulb;
  5. remove your finger.

The bulb can be replaced with an improvised piston. To do this, you will need a rope that runs freely inside the tube. It is better that it is made of soft natural material and not nylon. At the end of the rope you need to tie several knots, and then:

  1. Thread the rope and pull lightly so that the piston from the knots enters the hose.
  2. Insert the hose into the gas tank.
  3. Smoothly pull out the rope.
  4. Lower the hose (tube) into the prepared fuel container.
  5. remove your finger.

The moving “piston” creates a vacuum that causes gasoline to flow from the tank.

However, all tricks with a hose are only relevant for old cars. The gas tank of modern cars (Grants, Largus, Toyota, Niva, Priora, Patriot, Ford, Chevrolet) is located far from the filler neck. In this case, you need to use other methods.

Is it possible to protect yourself from gasoline being drained from your own car?

In order to protect your domestic vehicle, you need to close the tank with a special lid. Foreign cars themselves have a more complex structure, so such a device is not required.

It will help if teenagers are draining gasoline. They are unlikely to protect you from other criminals. Many owners, trying to protect their car from intruders, weld the neck. They carry her to the luggage compartment. This method is effective, but not good, because at a nuclear power plant the tankers will not service such a machine.

Every motorist encounters unexpected situations on the road. In some cases, it is necessary to empty the fuel tank in emergency mode. Also, draining may be relevant when refueling with the wrong fuel, it may be of unsuitable quality, or for repair work.

It is not difficult to drain fuel from a car modified in the 2000s, but with new ones the situation is more difficult. In new-style cars, a protective mesh has been introduced into the gas tank, so draining will not be easy, but there are still several ways to do it.

Second way

This option is more difficult. To drain the fuel, you will need to perform the following algorithm of actions:

  1. Open the car hood.
  2. With the engine off, disconnect the fuel supply hose. Disconnection is carried out where there is contact with the engine.
  3. The free end is inserted into the drainage vessel.
  4. Next, you need to turn the ignition key, but you do not need to start the engine itself.
  5. By “playing” with the ignition, you can drain the required amount of fuel.

It is not advisable to drain all gasoline using the described method, as there is a risk of damage to the fuel pump or airing of the vehicle’s fuel system. Tricks with closing contacts are performed solely at your own peril and risk.

It is necessary to monitor the flow of gasoline that comes in. If bubbles begin to appear in the liquid, this will indicate that there is not much gasoline left in the tank and it is time to finish, since this method has many risks.

After carrying out the described manipulations, it is important not to forget to return everything to its original place.

This is the only possible way for cars with fuel injection system. Deception of the fuel pump is an effective and only method.

Method 2. Removing the gasoline pump

There is another option that may be easier for many people. We are talking about completely removing the gasoline pump. This is done by raising the rear row seat, after which you need to unscrew the pump mounts. Next, you get direct access to the fuel, so you can pump it out using the traditional method.

This is a fairly simple procedure that does not require prior preparation. In the case of the Lada Granta, the entire fuel module will have to be dismantled.

  • To do this, the rear seat cushion is folded down.
  • After which the parts of the mat, previously cut by the manufacturer, are raised. Under them you will find four screws that secure the cover. They will have to be unscrewed. A Phillips screwdriver is used for this purpose.

  • After this, you will need to disconnect the block with electrical wires from the pump itself.

  • You will also have to remove the fuel hoses that hold the device in its position.

  • Now you can carefully grasp the pump pressure ring by unscrewing it counterclockwise. For this purpose, it is recommended to use a flat-head screwdriver and a hammer, if necessary. As a result, the ring comes off easily.

  • The fuel pump itself is removed by slightly tilting it to the side. This must be done in order not to damage the gas gauge sensor lever. In addition, this way you will protect the float on the lever from turning around its axis. If it is misaligned, it may result in subsequent false readings of the amount of fuel in the tank.

Make sure that fuel does not spill out of the gasoline pump. Just place a small cloth under it.

Assembly is carried out in reverse order. If necessary, the sealing ring can be replaced with a new one, otherwise the smell of gasoline will be felt in the cabin. The arrow drawn on the fuel module cover should point to the rear of the car. Also follow the readings on the fitting arrows, which will tell you the direction of fuel movement.

Direct drain option

The easiest way. To drain gasoline, you only need a hose of the required length.

In this case, you must perform the following actions:

  1. The end of the hose must be immersed in the car tank. Take the free end into your mouth and pull out the air masses from it.
  2. The second end must be lowered into a vessel previously prepared. It should be located below the fuel tank.
  3. After draining the required amount of fuel, raise the container to the same level as the tank or higher, and then remove the tube from the gas tank.

conclusions

You should only drain gasoline in the most extreme cases, since you are interfering with the operation of the mechanism. This may be regarded by the manufacturer as a violation of warranty requirements, especially if the work was performed poorly, resulting in damage to some parts. Therefore, try to refuel only at proven gas stations, and constantly monitor the amount of fuel along the way.

We drain fuel from VAZ family cars

Despite the fact that some car owners never have to drain gasoline, it is highly advisable to have the simplest and most inexpensive device for draining fuel in the trunk - a rubber hose with a bulb pump. With its help, you can quickly and safely get rid of the contents of the gas tank. This method, despite its simplicity, can be used on any vehicle whose gas tank neck does not have a protective mesh.

If the need to drain gasoline from a grant catches a driver on the road (for example, to help out a friend who has run out of gas), and there are no special devices at hand, except for a small diameter tube, you can use the following method: the principle of the method is identical to creating negative pressure using mouth, but absolutely safe for health. A rope of smaller diameter must be passed through the tube, the end of which should be tied with a knot, the size of which will be approximately the same as the diameter of the tube.

The resulting “piston” is moistened with any liquid, maybe even saliva, and the tube is lowered into the gas tank. Having prepared a container for draining gasoline in advance, you need to start pulling the rope out of the tube, lowering its outer end into the container. There is no need to rush, and you need to pull out the “piston” quite smoothly. After it is completely removed, gasoline will flow on its own. To stop this process, it is enough to raise the outer end of the tube above the level of the tank. The disadvantage of the above-mentioned methods can be considered the impossibility of completely freeing the fuel system from gasoline, especially on vehicles that came off the assembly line after the 90s - these are characterized by a thin and tortuous fuel line.

Most domestic cars have a special plug in the bottom of the gas tank designed to drain fuel. Before draining gasoline from the tank using this plug, it is advisable to jack up the car, place a container of adequate capacity, and then unscrew the plug. It is best to do this slowly, with slow rotational movements. Before this procedure, it is advisable to open the neck of the tank, which will allow all gasoline to drain without any residue. Despite the labor-intensive nature of this method, it is quite effective.

Method 1: Using the fuel line under the hood

In this situation, the simplest method is to use a fuel channel.

  • To begin with, you will need to unscrew the nipple, which is located at the end of the injector ramp.

  • After this, a regular hose is put on this ramp, the other end of which is immersed in any container that is sufficient to hold gasoline. Despite the fact that almost any hose will do, experts recommend using special types of hoses that are used to refill home air conditioners. This will allow you to screw the hose onto the fuel rail without unscrewing the nipple at all.

  • After this, you will need to force the gas pump to pump gasoline. The most obvious solution is to turn on the ignition, which will make the pump work.
  • But there is one peculiarity: the pump will not be able to function in this mode for more than a few seconds. In order for the duration of its operation to be increased, up to constant operation, you will need to turn on the ignition, and then insert the corresponding jumper into the gasoline pump relay (number K12 in the fuse box). An alternative to this may be the need to bridge contacts number 11 and 16, which are located in the diagnostic connector. This will make it possible for the pump to operate even without ignition.

Just keep in mind that prolonged operation of the pump in this mode can lead to complete discharge of the battery. So constantly monitor this parameter.

You can also use the area after the fuel filter to drain. To do this, you need to dismantle the fuel filter from the injector side, and put a hose on its outlet, which is lowered into the drain container.

If the car is fuel injected

It is absolutely impossible to completely empty the fuel system of an injection car using a hose. Therefore, in order to drain gasoline from an injection VAZ 2110, you will need to take a different route. First, you need to open the gas tank itself (neck), after which the algorithm of actions will be approximately as follows:

  • find the tube located at the bottom of the engine that supplies fuel to the ramp;
  • remove the clamp from it and disconnect it from the pipe;
  • turn the ignition key;
  • in the relay block, determine the one that is responsible for the fuel pump;
  • after removing it, you need to bridge it, for which it is convenient to use a standard paper clip;
  • turn on the car ignition;
  • Drain the leaking fuel into a prepared container, then return the hoses and relays to their places.

Draining gasoline through the pump hatch

The option described in this subsection will not allow you to completely drain all the gasoline in the tank. However, it is much safer than the above, although the procedure itself takes noticeably longer.

In this case, the fuel is removed while located directly in the cabin. This is best done in the fresh air and with the doors open.

Take all precautions:

  • do not smoke;
  • turn off the power;
  • do not wear clothes made of synthetic fiber;
  • Make sure you have a fire extinguisher at the ready.

During operation, quite a lot of gasoline vapor is generated, which in the limited space of the cabin can simply ignite. Be sure to ask someone to cover you just in case.

The procedure is as follows:

  • remove the back seat from the interior;
  • open the hatch located underneath;
  • remove the power terminal from the fuel pump;
  • after unscrewing the bolts, carefully pull out the assembly (be very careful with the float - it breaks easily);
  • remove the pump;
  • pump out the fuel through the opened hole using a rubber bulb;
  • Upon completion, return the unit, hatch and seats to their place and thoroughly ventilate the interior.

Drain fuel from a foreign car correctly

If everything is more or less clear with domestic cars, and the question of whether it is possible to drain gasoline from a viburnum can be considered rhetorical, foreign-made vehicles are more complex, and in order to drain gasoline from the tank of a foreign car you will have to work hard. Before draining gasoline from a Toyota Camry using a traditional hose with a bulb, you will have to remove the protective mesh from the neck of the gas tank, which performs an important protective function by preventing foreign objects from entering the tank. This procedure is not an easy one, so on a foreign car it is best to drain gasoline not from the tank, but through the pipeline directly into the fuel system.

To do this, the pipeline must first be found. For inexperienced drivers, it is better to use the vehicle’s operating instructions or enlist the support of more experienced comrades. Before draining gasoline, it is necessary to prepare a clean container, the volume of which is guaranteed to be sufficient for all the spilled fuel. In this case, you can go in two ways. If you disconnect the tube located in front of the pump, fuel will pour out for quite a long time - the small diameter and tortuosity of the pipeline will affect it. If you disconnect the pipes after the pump and start the engine, all the gasoline can be drained as quickly as possible. If for some reason you need to drain gasoline from the tank of a foreign car, there is nothing left to do but remove the protective mesh.

Method 2. Drain gasoline through the fuel line and the plug at the bottom of the gas tank

If the fuel pump is located not in the tank itself, but near the engine, you can try to drain the fuel through the fuel line. Procedure:

  1. Unscrew the clamp and disconnect the hose going from the tank to the fuel pump.
  2. Place the hose into the fuel container.

Fuel will leak from the gas tank. The main thing is that the end of the fuel line, as well as the fuel container, is located below the gasoline level.

Some cars have gas tanks with drain plugs. If you are the owner of just such a car model, you need to use an overpass or inspection hole to drain the fuel. This is done simply:

  1. Place a container under the drain plug in the gas tank.
  2. Unscrew the plug.
  3. Drain the fuel (all or part of it).
  4. Tighten the plug.

However, plugs at the bottom of the tank are not very common. In this case, the fuel pump will help drain the gasoline. The method is suitable for old modern cars.

The only way to drain fuel from the tanks of most fuel-injected cars is to use the fuel pump. Open the hood and disconnect the fuel hose from the ramp pipe and direct it into a prepared fuel container.

If you then turn on the ignition, the electric pump will start for a few seconds and pump 200-300 grams of gasoline. To pump out more fuel, you need to use one of two options:

  • Periodically turn the ignition on/off so that the pump pumps gasoline in small portions.
  • Remove the electric pump turn-on relay and close the pump power contacts. In this case, the pump will pump gasoline until the ignition is turned off.

If you short-circuit the relay power supply circuit instead of the contacts going to the fuel pump, the fuse will blow and you will not be able to start the car. Therefore, first carefully study the wiring diagram and relay pinout.

After pumping out the fuel, do not forget to put the relay with the hose in place and tighten the clamp on the latter.

The described method is not suitable for draining all the fuel from the tank. If the gasoline runs out, the fuel line will become airy and the pump may fail.

You can also drain gasoline from the tank using a mechanical fuel pump. The device has a lever for manual pumping. However, the productivity of this method is extremely low. It should be used when you need to collect 100-200 grams of gasoline.

Similar

In our country, finding high-quality gasoline is not much easier than finding smooth roads. So you have to think for yourself about how to make driving a car as safe as possible, both for yourself and for the car’s mechanisms.

The fact is that you won’t be able to drain the fuel using the “old-fashioned” method through the neck.

The reason for this is the low location of the fuel tank, as well as the specific design of the neck. The same applies to other modern VAZ models, as well as foreign cars produced since the 90s.

We tried this method, it is drained only with a thin hose and no more than “half a bucket”, depending on the current volume of filling the gas tank.

In order for the machine to serve for a long time and properly, it is necessary to monitor it, and this requires certain knowledge and skills. Today, thanks to the Internet, you can learn how to replace certain car parts in a short time. You can also learn how to drain gasoline yourself. There is nothing difficult about this if you know how to act.

As a rule, it is necessary to drain for the following reasons:

  • if the car is filled with low quality gasoline. Some car enthusiasts purchase cheap fuel, not realizing how many problems there will be later, and that they will still have to spend money on new ones;
  • in order to refuel the generator and thus recharge the battery;
  • due to excess fuel.

Regardless of the reasons, this procedure can be performed in several ways:

  1. Through the filler neck.
  2. Through the fuel pump.
  3. Through the cap at the bottom of the gas tank.

It is enough to use a hose with a diameter of 9-15 mm and a length of 2 m. Then proceed as follows:

  • insert it through the neck into the tank, turning it counterclockwise;
  • Install the canister as low as possible.
