Replacement frequency

They have their own distinctive features not only in the type of fuel used, but also in the requirements for changing the oil. How often you will have to change old oil to new oil in a Renault Logan engine depends on the engine itself.

Now let's explain how a diesel power unit differs from a gasoline one.

  1. For gasoline engines, the recommended replacement frequency is 15 thousand kilometers. If you do not roll this distance during the year, then replace it once a year.
  2. In a Renault Logan diesel engine, the oil must be changed after about 10 thousand kilometers. But, as in the case of a gasoline engine, replacement is carried out once a year if the required mileage has not been completed.

Analogs

Oils differ in parameters such as composition, type and properties. Among the analogues, you can consider the following options:

  • Motul X-cess 8100 5W-40;
  • Motul 8100 EcoEnergy 5W-30;
  • Castrol Magnatec A5 5W-30;
  • Castrol Edge Professional A5 5W-30.

Lubricating fluids of these brands are quite suitable for changing oil in Renault Logan with the K9K engine type. It is better to choose a viscosity of 5W40. They are recommended for use in engines with a displacement of 1.2, 1.4, 1.5 and 1.6 liters. The number of valves does not in any way affect the type of lubricant used: The oils will be identical for both eight-valve and sixteen-valve engines, but, as mentioned above, this only affects the amount that the engine needs.

Lubricants differ in composition, type and properties. The quality of engine oil depends on the brand.

Lubricants for the K9K type engine on Renaut Logan 84 l/s and 113 l/s configurations, volumes of 102, 104 and 106 liters:

  • Motul X-cess 8100 5W-40;
  • Motul 8100 Eco-nergy 5W-30;
  • Castrol Magnatec A5 5W-30;
  • Castrol Edge Professional A5 5W-30.

The British company Castrol produces oils recommended for use in more than a hundred countries around the world. Castrol products cannot be classified as cheap lubricants, but their use leads to significant savings on power unit repairs.

Every year Motul independently develops new additives and produces high-quality oils. The use of fuels and lubricants of this brand will make the operation of the power unit reliable and durable.

Recommendations from the machine manufacturer

The use of lubricant is permitted only with the consent of the machine manufacturer. This marking indicates the possibility of using automobile oil for a specific brand of car. The manufacturer of Renault Logan carried out joint developments with Total, and as a result of their efforts, a high-quality synthetic product was created that meets the technical parameters of this car. Recommended Renault Logan engine oil for gasoline engines:

  • Elf EXCELLIUM LDX 5W-40;
  • Elf EXCELLIUM 5W-50;
  • COMPETITION ELFI STI 10W-40;
  • Elfo Sporti 15W-40.

Elf Evolution 5W-30 motor fluid helps reduce fuel mixture consumption at ambient temperatures below -150C.

The use of the above automobile oils provides the following advantages:

  • protection of the power unit from overheating;
  • engine stabilization;
  • pump engine oil through the lubrication system at low temperatures and start the engine without warming up.

Brief history of the model

Motorists became acquainted with Renault Logan by the beginning of 2005. From that time on, production and sales began on the European continent. The car began to be assembled in Romania, at the Dacia plant.

Almost simultaneously, a full-cycle assembly plant with Renault equipment called Avtoframos was launched in Moscow. The first generation Logan is still produced there.

This class B car is intended not only for the European, but also for the markets of developing countries. Available in two body styles. First there was a sedan, with 5 seats for the driver and passengers. Then a station wagon rolled off the assembly line - Renault Logan MCV, with a 5 or 7-seater interior. This machine has only been on the market since 2007.

2008 was marked by a slight restyling of the first generation, and by 2013 the second generation of this car brand appeared. On the territory of Russia, the updated car began to be assembled by AvtoVAZ in Tolyatti. New cars began leaving the assembly line in 2014. Until this time, both Russian enterprises have been operating, producing cars of 2 generations at once.

By the way, Lada Largus is an analogue of the Renault Logan MCV, the prototype of which is the Dacia Logan MCV. The car is assembled in Morocco, Romania, India, Iran and the Russian Federation under different brands - Dacia, Nissan, Renault. The car received the title of the best-selling foreign car in Russia in 2009.

When to change?

Renault Logan, which has just left the assembly line, undergoes a mandatory oil change after 3,000 kilometers. The interval between the first and second lubricant change should be no more than 8,000 km.

Changing the Renault Logan oil largely depends on the age of the car, frequency and operating conditions. Thus, models of 2006, 2007, 2008, 2009 and 2010 are subject to more frequent lubricant changes. It is recommended to carry out the operation every 8–10 thousand kilometers.

For “fresh” models, the recommended fuel replacement period increases to 15 thousand km. These cars include 2011, 2012, 2013, 2014, 2015 and 2016 models.

Cars with low mileage that run on gasoline are subject to lubricant changes every 15 thousand kilometers. On diesel cars with high mileage, the oil is changed every 10 thousand km.

The oil change interval is reduced when the engine load is excessively high. If the car is operated in urban conditions, then the oil must be changed every 7–12 thousand kilometers, regardless of the year of manufacture and engine type.

Changing engine oil is a fairly simple DIY operation. You can change the lubricant at a service center, but the cost of repairs will increase.

When replacing yourself, it’s worth considering: Renault Logan cars with eight and sixteen valves differ in the volume of fuel and lubricants filled.

The oil filter on Renault Logan should be changed along with the oil: during operation, this part becomes dirty and cannot properly filter the lubricating fluid.

After selecting and purchasing a new filter, you can begin replacing. You will need the following tools:

  • Oil filter puller;
  • Hammer;
  • Screwdriver;
  • Key for 10.

Use a puller to unscrew the used filter element. Often a situation arises when a part does not lend itself. In this case, you need to pierce the filter with a screwdriver from the side closer to the center and use it as a lever. You should carefully inspect the place where the filter “fits”, clean it of dirt and old grease.

Immediately after installing the new filter, you need to pour in approximately 3.3 liters of oil - the volume recommended by the manufacturer.

Renault Logan is one of the most popular cars in the budget segment. Inexpensive, unpretentious and quite reliable, it has won recognition among car enthusiasts.

But, like any other car, Reno Logan requires periodic maintenance, and this applies to all components of the car - power plant, transmission, chassis, body, etc.

  • As for the power unit, perhaps one of the most important maintenance operations is changing the oil.
  • While the car is under warranty, these works are included in the list of service maintenance, but after the end of this warranty, this operation falls on the shoulders of the car owner.
  • Of course, you can continue to visit the service center so that its workers carry out all the necessary work.

However, changing oils is not such a complicated operation that you need to contact specialists every time, because you can do it yourself, saving money.

Next question: how to choose the right engine oil for Renault Logan? There are many suitable types of oils, but the concern’s experts recommend that drivers purchase Elf Evolution motor lubricant. The specific type and category depends on three factors:

  • engine;
  • transmissions;
  • climatic conditions.

It is also important to consider the viscosity of the oil. For cold regions it should be lower, for warm regions it should be higher.

For this reason, it is better to purchase motor lubricant in official shopping centers or from official dealers of the concern. “Private” sellers or market traders do not always sell high-quality oil.

Selection of oil by type, parameters and brands

Especially for Renault Logan, Renault has provided several types of original lubricants. There are three types:

  • Synthetic is the most fluid and liquid oil, very resistant to low temperatures. This lubricant composition is best suited for Renault Logan with low mileage. The replacement schedule for this oil is the longest, which is one of the key advantages. In addition, with such oil, fuel consumption is lower, engine power is higher and cooling of internal combustion engine components is better.
  • Mineral oil is the thickest oil, extremely unsuitable for modern cars. It can only be filled in as a last resort - for example, with high mileage or lack of funds for at least semi-synthetic oil.
  • Semi-synthetic oil is an economical option for those who do not want to spend money on expensive synthetics, and at the same time prefer a more modern product rather than cheap mineral water.

We can conclude that for a Renault Logan with a 1.4-liter engine, the best oil will be synthetic or semi-synthetic.

In addition, viscosity characteristics also influence the choice of oil. So, especially for Logan, you need to select viscosity parameters 5W-40 and 5W-30. Original oil for Renault Logan – Elf Evolution SXR. Alternatively, you can choose an equally high-quality analogue, but only from brands with a good reputation. Among them we can highlight Castrol, Mobile, Rosneft, Lukoil, ZIK and others.

Choosing engine oil for Renault internal combustion engines

Now to the question of what kind of oil to pour into the engine of the French Renault Logan car. According to the recommendations of the automaker itself, oil produced by Elf is optimally suited for their cars. They work closely together, which is why only this liquid is indicated in the instruction manuals.

Also in demand are:

  • Turbo Diesel 10W40;
  • Competition ST 10W40;
  • Solaris RNX 5W30;
  • Excellium LDX 5W40, etc.

Elf's line of motor oils includes universal lubricants, fluids designed for specific engines, as well as separate series for automatic and manual transmissions.

If you ask the owners of such cars about what kind of oil they use, the majority is inclined to think that Renault’s recommendations are correct, and the engine works well with these oils. There are also experiences with unsuccessful oil changes.

As for the type of oil, there are 2 options to choose from.

  1. Semi-synthetic. It is better to use it on cars whose mileage is already more than 100 thousand kilometers. Its thicker consistency helps prevent leaks through worn gaskets and seals. Well suited for winter as it easily starts the engine at low temperatures.
  2. Synthetics. Suitable for newer cars. Synthetic lubricants are recommended for use on all modern cars and their engines. Great fluidity and stability of physical and chemical characteristics guarantee protection against overheating, wear and frost.

Therefore, focus on the age and mileage of your Renault Logan when choosing between synthetics and semi-synthetics. Just keep in mind that when changing the oil, be sure to change the following in parallel:

  • oil filter;
  • gasket for the drain plug (made of copper).

This will allow the engine to run better with fresh oil and prevent unwanted lubricant leaks.

What kind of oil should I put in a Renault engine? The answer to this question is of interest to many drivers. Renault cars are one of the most common foreign cars in the Russian Federation and the states of the former Soviet Union. These cars have become especially popular today. This is due to their excellent characteristics and low price. In addition, Renault cars are easy to maintain and do not require high fuel consumption.

According to the automaker's recommendations, the oil fluid in the engine needs to be changed every fifteen thousand kilometers. The warranty period during which the manufacturer undertakes to change the engine oil is three years.

How to choose engine oil for Renault Logan

Renault Logan cars are the most popular foreign cars in Russia recently. This is due both to a fairly good price-quality ratio and to their efficiency and unpretentiousness.

  • Based on the warranty program provided by Renault, service, which includes an oil change, is done after reaching mileage of 15,000, 30,000, 45,000, 75,000 and 105,000 kilometers, or after reaching a year of operation (the warranty period provided by the company is three years ).
  • Looking at the recommendations of the Renault company, branded service centers use ELF Evolution SRX 5w30 and 5w40 motor oils (although the service can sometimes use another brand).
  • In the case when the service independently uses oil of a different brand, this is not reflected in the warranty, but in the case when the initiative comes from the owner of the car, a special note is made in the service book and, when a warranty case occurs, difficulties with warranty repairs may arise.
  • Mechanisms wear out over three different periods: • Rubbing parts wear into one another. During this period there is increased wear • Parts wear out slowly over a long period of time
  • • Wear with increased progression due to the end of the engine's service life.
  • The oil recommended by the manufacturer (ELF Evolution SRX 5w30) is classified according to the ACEA system as A1B1, characterized as energy-saving (if the canister has the inscription “Full Economy”).

This oil is mainly intended for those engines that have not been boosted and do not have turbocharging and require the use of oils with a low viscosity index at high temperatures. The oil film of such oils is very thin, which allows them to be used with new internal combustion engines, allowing them to reduce fuel consumption.

For worn-out engines, oil of greater thickness is required, which will compensate for the increasing gaps in the friction pairs.

Oil marked 5w40 corresponds to ACEA classification A3B4, as a result of which it is recommended for use in boosted gasoline and supercharged diesel engines, with which it is recommended to use oil with low viscosity at high temperatures, which is compensated by a high shear rate. The viscosity of such oils is higher, and this does not allow the oil film to break in heavily loaded friction pairs of engines of this type. Prices for oil of this brand start at 1,500 rubles per container. In addition, ELF brand oils are used, but without the “evolution” designation. This oil has a price of 450 rubles per liter.

From this it follows that oils of this brand (by the way, they are made in France) can be found by customers with a wide range of incomes.

The owners of cars of this brand themselves say in their reviews that in addition to the factory one, other oils can be used. Here, for example, is what one of them says: - although the manufacturer recommends ELF 0w30, 5w30, 5w40 oils, changing them after 15 thousand kilometers, it is advisable to change the oil every 10,000 kilometers.

In this case, you can use Mobil Super 3000X1 5w40 oil. Some believe that the Renault Logan engine will accept any oil from 0w30 to 5w40, as long as this oil has the Renault RN0700 approval. Other Renault Logan owners use Elf Excelium NF 5w40 oil and are quite satisfied with it.

For cold regions (such as Siberia), it is desirable to use oil (synthetic) from almost any manufacturer with a rating from 0w30 to 0w50. There are also Renault Logan owners who use Mannol 5w40 oil all year round and say that everything is fine with them. Here are reviews from several more owners of these cars: - I use Total Quartz oil.

Moreover, I used it with all the cars I owned, and there were no problems. I have never used “branded” oils and do not recommend them to anyone: automakers do not produce their own oils, but negotiate with auto chemical manufacturers (and one can only guess about the quality of their products).

— There’s no point in using expensive oils (they won’t save the situation anyway) - this is the wrong approach. It is necessary to use oil that is suitable for severe conditions and change it more often. For example, you can use the most ordinary LukOil with the necessary approval, changing it after 5 thousand kilometers - and the engine will be preserved much better.

Sometimes you can also use oils like Liqui Molly Superlehlauf 10w40: when using this type of oil, there is no carbon deposits on the valves and there is always good starting at low temperatures

However, if you follow the instructions of the manufacturer, which states that you must use only ELF oils (and the company will never give bad advice), then the maintenance-free mileage will be maximum and these oils are not very expensive in price. The main thing, in this case, is not to run into a fake, of which there are now quite a few on the car accessories market.

What kind of oil should I fill in the Renault Logan 1.6 8 valve engine?

There are three types of oils: synthetic, mineral and semi-synthetic. The latter type is more suitable for those whose mileage exceeds 90,000 kilometers, as it is thicker than the others and suitable for low temperatures. Synthetics are considered the best, as they have good fluidity and stable characteristics.

Regular vehicle maintenance, guarantee of durability of all systems and assemblies. The operation of changing engine oil is one of the most important processes that must be performed regularly.

To replace a Renault Logan on your own, you only need a small amount of knowledge and consistency in the work process.

You will learn more about everything in our article, and the process of changing engine oil will no longer be a taboo topic for servicing a car with your own hands.

Compliance of the lubricant with the recommendations of the car manufacturer is a prerequisite for normal operation of the car engine. In this article we will describe which engine oil is recommended for Renault Logan for winter or summer, and also indicate the possibility of using all-season fluids.

Renault Logan is a specially designed subcompact car model for young and developing countries. The main production is established in Romania. In the CIS countries, assembly shops have been open only since 2005.

The line of power units is not very diverse: gasoline engines with volumes of 1.4 and 1.6 liters and one diesel engine of 1.5 liters in eight and sixteen valve versions. The engine layout is front-wheel drive, front-wheel drive with a 4 × 2 wheel arrangement.

In general, the model is characterized positively, it maintains its service life, there are no special complaints. Of course, subject to compliance with the basic rules and operating recommendations.

In order to provide methodological recommendations, we will consider the types of oils approved for use by the manufacturer.

In order for the car engine to operate stably and without failures, it is necessary to promptly replace the lubricant. For Renault Logan, Elf oils are considered optimal. Their properties help improve the performance of the car when it has to work in heavy traffic on city streets. It must be said that this particular motor oil is recommended by the car manufacturer for use.

Renault Logan is a super compact model for developing countries. The main production is located in Romania. Since 2005, exclusively assembly shops have been launched in the CIS. The engine line does not have a large selection. These are 1.4, 1.6l petrol units and 1.5l diesel units in an eight-valve version. The engine has a front-mounted design. The model is characterized mainly positively.

Many users are interested in the question of what engine oil to pour into the Renault Logan 1.6 8 valve engine. This is due to the large selection in car stores, and it is difficult for car owners to settle on a specific one.

Timely oil changes are necessary to reduce wear on engine parts; in addition, clogging of the lubrication system with friction products can disrupt the normal operation of the engine and reduce the operating comfort of the vehicle.

Renault Logan cars are most often equipped with eight-valve carburetor internal combustion engines Renault K7M1.6, Renault K7J 1.4, and sixteen-valve internal combustion engines K4M 1.6.

The standard service life of the Renault Logan engine is, with proper operation, 400 thousand km. Now it is important for us to distinguish between these engine models in terms of the volume of engine oil poured:

  • engine 1.6 16-valve (K4M) – 4.80 liters
  • engine 1.4 8-valve (K7J) – 3.35 liters
  • 1.6 8-valve engine (K7M) – 3.40 liters.

If the oil is changed without replacing the oil filter, then these volumes are reduced by 0.3 liters. But, we recommend changing the oil and oil filter at the same time, this is due not only to the cheapness of the filter (any filter will do) compared to the cost of the oil, but also to the dominance of the main criterion for oil wear - clogging with friction products.

It is recommended to change the oil in the Renault Logan 1.6 engine every 15 thousand km. Severe operating conditions accelerate oil wear, and replacement should be done every 8 thousand km. Severe operating conditions usually mean: driving without pre-warming the engine, operating a vehicle at sharply changing temperatures (for example, in winter up to -35*C, and in summer up to 35*C on one oil), rapid acceleration, including uphill or during overload, etc.

When checking the oil level, you can also assess the need to replace it. Engine oil should not have a black color or burnt smell, otherwise it is time to change it. The plug for checking the oil level on a Renault Logan is shown in the photo.

Every car owner dreams that the engine of his car will last as long as possible, and this issue directly depends on its operation, or rather on the correct choice of engine oil (it is worth saying that proper maintenance is an equally important component of this process, although changing the oil This is exactly where it goes), which must correspond to a specific car.

Engine oil is intended for lubrication and self-cooling of engine rubbing parts, as well as for removing spent particles in friction pairs. The need to control the oil level and top it up if it drops below the mark has been proven and known to all car enthusiasts who take care of their “iron friend”.

For error-free and reliable control of the oil in the engine system, you just need to turn it off and start the procedure after a while, waiting for the liquid to drain from all engine elements, after about 10-15 minutes.

Timely change of engine oil is the key to maintaining the functionality of the rubbing elements. A high-quality liquid can prevent premature wear and reduce the intensity of clogging of the unit’s lubrication circuit with abrasive products from abrasion. Many car owners are interested in the question of what oil to fill?

Renault Logan cars are mostly equipped with 8-valve Renault engines: “K7M1.6” and “K7J1.4”, as well as 16-valve engines - “K4M1.6”. The latter are endowed with a slightly increased specific output.

However, when asked what kind of oil to pour into the engine in different versions of the model, experts answer that there is no fundamental difference in this.

With standard operation, the engine life of Renault Logan can reach 400 thousand km.

So what kind of oil to fill in correctly? Here is the difference between these units in terms of the volume of engine oil poured into them:

  • 1.6-liter 16-valve version (K4M) – 4.8 liters;
  • 1.4-liter 8-valve variation (K7J) – 3.35 liters;
  • 1.6-liter 8-valve version (K7J) – 3.4 liters.

What kind of oil should you fill in if you don’t change the filter? If you intend to change the oil without changing the filter element, then these volumes should be reduced by 0.3 liters. It is recommended to change the oil complete with a filter, since this element (not characterized by high cost) prevents wear of the lubricant caused by the appearance of abrasive particles in its environment - products of the abrasion process.

What kind of oil should I pour into a 1.4-liter engine? It is recommended to change the lubricant in Renault Logan engines in versions 1.6 and 1.4 after every 15 thousand kilometers. If the operating conditions of the engine are very harsh, then the oil change interval should be reduced to approximately 8 thousand km. These conditions include the following:

  • starting to move without warming up the Renault Logan engine (especially important when operating with lubricant filled before the season changes, when in winter or summer the outside air temperature reaches critical values);
  • aggressive acceleration dynamics, accompanied by an exorbitant load on the unit.

While monitoring the oil level in the crankcase, you can visually assess its condition and assess the degree of need for replacement. The liquid should not be black in color or have a burnt odor. If such factors are present, the lubricant requires urgent replacement.

The oil in the Renault Logan engine determines its performance. If all gears are thoroughly lubricated, there is no chance of damage. Otherwise, a “snowball” of problems begins, one after another. Car reliability begins with the right choice of oil.

The vehicle owner must know which oil to pour into the Renault Logan engine, since the service life of the unit and its operating efficiency directly depend on the correct choice. The opinion that all vehicles are universal and can be used for maintenance of absolutely any vehicle is erroneous.

Engine oil is necessary for self-cooling and lubrication of engine rubbing parts, as well as for the removal of spent friction vapors. Every car enthusiast knows about the need to monitor the oil level, which needs to be added if its level has dropped too much. Running in a new car is always accompanied by increased oil consumption, but this phenomenon is considered normal. For the first 300 - 500 kilometers of its journey, a car engine consumes about a liter of it per 1,000 kilometers.

The best semi-synthetic oil

The design of the Renault Logan engine allows the use of semi-synthetic oil only with significant engine wear (mileage 400,000 km or more). Synthetics cannot fully fill the increased gap and provide high-quality lubrication of parts. This is especially true for engines with a volume of 1.6 liters. But even in these cases, the choice must be approached carefully, since not all semi-synthetics can be used in Renault Logan.

3 TEXACO Havoline Extra 10W-40

It has Renault approvals and is ideal for Renault Logan engines with intensive use in difficult conditions. The base components of the oil and additives provide stable viscosity, good protection against corrosion and the formation of internal deposits.

Owners who have started filling Renault Logan with Havoline Extra note the almost complete absence of waste, excellent cleaning properties, and the quality of the engine oil matches more expensive and popular brands. The reviews also note the absence of counterfeit products on the market. The disadvantage is that it is not always available for sale in specialized retail outlets. But with the help of the Internet (to make an accurate choice, you should know the article number) you can always purchase it in advance.

2 Castrol MAGNATEC 10W40

The group of Intelligent Molecules additives gives the oil the ability to “cling” to rubbing surfaces and remain on parts even when the engine is not running. Thanks to this technology, when starting the engine even in cold weather, there is not a split second of friction pairs operating without lubrication, which significantly increases the service life.

In their reviews, Renault Logan owners talk about the oil’s ability to gently cleanse the engine of previously accumulated sludge - just a couple of changes are enough. The properties of engine oil when operating under extreme loads make it possible to save the engine from overheating. High temperature stability is an obstacle to the formation of sludge deposits. The reviews also note the main drawback - the possibility of purchasing a cheap fake under the guise of a quality product, which can not only disappoint the consumer with quality, but also harm the engine.

1 LIQUI MOLY Top Tec 4100 5W40

The content of sulfur, phosphorus and chlorine impurities in LIQUI MOLY Top Tec 4100 motor oil tends to zero. This is very good not only for the environment, but also for the engine. Obtained using hydrocracking technology, the oil has properties very similar to synthetics and has good antioxidant properties.

The manufacturer also allows this oil to be poured into Renault Logan - the oil composition meets the requirements of Renault RN 0700/RN 0710. Owners in their reviews note improved fuel economy and easy starting at sub-zero temperatures. In models with a 1.6 liter engine. a noticeable increase in service life - maintenance-free operation with a mileage exceeding 500 thousand km. At the same time, the transition to this engine oil occurred after 200 thousand km.

What types of oils are there?

The oil can be either synthetic or semi-synthetic and, of course, mineral. The main advantage of synthetic oil is its good cryogenic (for low temperature) properties, as well as accessibility to any friction pairs due to its structure. In some cases, mineral oils are used, especially for heavy-duty vehicles, although this is no longer a dogma. However, synthetic oils are better suited for all motorists who operate their vehicles in a wide range of temperatures.

Excessive consumption: reasons. Troubleshooting methods

The increased oil consumption of Renault Logan is 500 milliliters for every thousand kilometers. If the engine “eats” so much lubricant, then this indicates problems in the functioning of the engine. The causes of the “illness” may be leaky oil seals, spacer shafts and gaskets, problems with the oil filter and the sensor that controls the pressure of the lubricant.

To diagnose the exact cause of the oil burn, the power unit is flushed. If after this operation the leak is still not found, it is worth replacing the oil: perhaps it does not meet the viscosity indicators or is a surrogate of inadequate quality.

The oil may burn. The reason is considered to be severe wear of some car parts: cylinder rings, valves, seals and pistons.

To prevent increased consumption and eliminate the need to constantly add lubricant, you need to:

  • replace the oil filter with a new one;
  • change seals and spacer shafts;
  • if necessary, change the fuel pressure sensor;
  • use the type of lubricant recommended by the manufacturer;
  • fill with original engine oil.

If a leak is not detected, then it is necessary to carry out a full technical inspection of the vehicle and subsequent overhaul of the engine. It is carried out every 100,000 km.

How to change oil

  1. Warm up the engine to operating temperature and then let it cool for 5-7 minutes. The oil drains better and faster if it is not cold. Hot temperatures can burn you, so it’s better to let the engine sit for a while.
  2. Open the filler neck of the cylinder block (where we will pour oil) and pull out the dipstick. If you give oxygen through, the liquid will flow out faster.
  3. We jack up the car and put it on supports. A necessary step for easy access to the drain plug. You can also use a viewing hole or overpass.
  4. Unscrew the drain plug with a wrench. Remember that used oil will be hot and take precautions to avoid skin burns.
  5. We pour the waste into the prepared container. Do not dump waste directly onto the ground!
  6. Unscrew the oil filter. If the filter is tightly clamped, a special removable filter wrench may be required.
  7. We install the new filter after lubricating its sealing ring with oil, and pouring a little oil right into the middle so that it absorbs. The number of the original oil filter is 8200768913. Cheaper analogues that are suitable for Logan: FRAM PH5796, MANN W753, MAHLE C467, FILTRON P6433, PURFLUX LS932 and many others.
  8. We tighten the drain plug after making sure that the washer located on its thread is intact. If necessary, it must be replaced (sealing washer).
  9. We lower the car from the racks and pour oil into the empty engine, guided by the dipstick.
  10. After the poured oil reaches the middle of the dipstick between the MIN and MAX marks, wait 3-5 minutes. Afterwards we warm up the engine for about 5 minutes and measure the level again. As a rule, after the first warm-up the level drops and we add as much as we need.

Materials and tools

To independently change the lubricating fluid in the engine of a Renault Logan car, you will need to prepare everything necessary for such a procedure. The list of required materials and tools includes:

  • new oil filter;
  • the required amount of fresh, suitable engine oil;
  • new copper gasket;
  • 8x8 4-sided plug wrench;
  • dry rags;
  • latex gloves;
  • individual protection means;

As for the 16-valve engine, in addition to the amount of lubricant to be filled, there is one more nuance - access to the oil filter.

The fact is that access to it from the engine compartment will be hampered by the protective screen of the exhaust manifold, and from below by the protective crankcase.

You will have to remove one thing to access the filter, but what is up to the car owner to decide. Otherwise, the sequence of work is identical to that described.

What else do you need?

During this operation, the oil filter is also replaced. You need to purchase a filter with identification number 7700274177 or 8200768913, they are interchangeable and original for this car.

But you can buy any filter, the main thing is that it is from a well-known manufacturer and also fits the overall dimensions.

During work, it is also recommended to replace the drain plug gasket. The original gasket has article number 11026 5505R

But if you couldn’t get one, then instead of the old gasket you can install a regular copper gasket of the appropriate diameter.

None Recently, service stations began to indicate that when changing, it is necessary to flush the engine.

It really needs to be done, but only if oil from another manufacturer will be used. If the lubricant manufacturer does not change, then flushing is not necessary.

What is needed for the work

Now let's look at how this operation is performed on a car with an 8-valve 1.4-liter Logan engine.

To complete all the work you don’t need much:

  • Special key in the shape of a square for 8 or 10;
  • Special key for removing the filter;
  • Container for draining (preferably wide);
  • New lubricant in the right quantity;
  • New filter;
  • Rags.

Replacement.

Having all this, you can start working. The sequence of actions is as follows:

  • The car is placed on a flat surface and immobilized. Then the engine is warmed up so that the engine oil becomes more liquid. But you don’t need to warm it up completely, but to a temperature of 50 degrees. C, no more, otherwise you may get burns in the future;
  • Open the hood and unscrew the oil filler cap. If this is not done, when the oil drains inside the engine, a vacuum will form, due to which the duration of the drain will be significantly delayed;

  • At the bottom of the car, in the underbody protection, there is a technological hole for access to the drain plug, so there is no need to remove the protection. Use a 8 or 10 square wrench to loosen the drain plug. Sometimes it fits quite tightly, so you may need to extend the key with a piece of pipe;
  • Having slightly loosened the cork, you need to place the prepared container under it, after which the cork is completely unscrewed. At the same time, you need to try not to lose it in the container. This is one of the dirtiest stages of work, since some of the oil will definitely get on your hands, so put rubber gloves on them;

  • Next, wait until the used lubricant is completely drained. At this time, the gasket on the plug is changed. Having finished draining, install the plug in place and tighten it well;
  • Let's move on to the engine compartment. Use a special wrench to unscrew the old filter counterclockwise. Afterwards, the seat is thoroughly wiped with a clean rag;

  • Before installing a new filter, it must be filled approximately halfway with oil, and the O-ring installed in it must also be lubricated. After this, the filter is installed in place and screwed on. When tightening, it is not necessary to use a wrench; you can tighten it forcefully by hand;
  • Pour oil into the engine. At first, only 3 liters are poured. Then wait until the oil has completely dropped into the pan and measure its amount. Gradually use the remaining oil to bring the level to the desired level. The correct level is considered when the oil on the dipstick reaches the middle between the MAX and MIN marks. The main thing is not to overfill. If the level approaches the MAX mark, it’s okay, but if it’s higher, you’ll have to pump out the excess;

  • After filling, start the engine and let it run for 3-5 minutes. After this, wait until the lubricant drains into the pan and check the level again, adjusting it if necessary. You should also check the filter and drain plug for leaks; if any, tighten them.

Replacement process on Logan 1.4 liter. 8KL and 16KL

First of all, the car is driven to an overpass or inspection hole. Before starting work, the engine must be inoperative, but well warmed up: cooled oil will not leak out.

To drain the used lubricant, you need to remove the oil filler cap. The crankcase pan around the drain plug is thoroughly cleaned of dirt.

Next, use a square key with a diameter of 8 mm to loosen the tightness of the plug on the drain hole of the pan.

A waste container with a volume of at least 4 liters for 8KL and 5 liters for 16KL is first placed under the hole. Afterwards, all you have to do is unscrew the plug manually. Remember that the oil is hot and be careful. It is recommended to change fuel and lubricants wearing protective rubber gloves.

A steel washer is installed under the drain plug. Oil-resistant rubber is vulcanized to it to prevent leakage from the crankcase pan after filling with new oil.

It is necessary to carefully inspect the washer seal. If it is damaged, the washer should be replaced with a new one. The oil is drained for at least ten minutes.

After draining, the hole plug is screwed in and tightened with a wrench. For a tighter fit, the plug is treated with sealant. The part may protrude slightly, but this does not affect the performance of the vehicle.

The final touch will be the removal of oil smudges from the crankcase sump of the power unit.

Each oil change process is accompanied by the installation of a new oil filter.

Next, the engine starts for 1–2 minutes, and the signal in the instrument cluster should go out, indicating an insufficient oil pressure level. You should also make sure that there are no leaks from under the drain plug and filter.

The engine turns off. After a few minutes, when the lubricant has drained into the crankcase pan, you need to check the oil level using a metal dipstick: the oil should reach about. If there is not enough oil, it must be added. You should also check the tightness of the drain plug and oil filter.

This completes the oil change.

Renault Logan with a 1.6 liter K9K engine requires 4–5 liters of lubricant for 8 V and 5–6 liters for 16 V.

Many Logan owners prefer to have the Renault engine oil changed by specialists at a service center. But it's safe to say that you can do it yourself very easily. The process itself will not cause difficulties, but there are a number of specific features that need to be studied and observed when carrying out the work.

The displacement of the eight-valve engine (1.4 l or 1.6 l) of the Renault Logan model does not affect the replacement technology. There are differences in this procedure in the 16-valve version of the engine, which will be discussed separately.

Replacement instructions

Changing the oil on a Renault Logan yourself does not require any special skills or any knowledge. Try to act carefully, consistently and do not forget about safety measures. First, we note that the replacement procedure on 8-valve 1.4 and 1.6-liter engines is slightly different from the 16-valve engine, so we will consider it separately. Let's start with 8-valve engines.

  1. To work, it is better to park the car in a pit. Some people make do with a jack, but this is dangerous and inconvenient. Having placed the car over the pit, place chocks under the wheels and turn on the handbrake on your Logan. It is better to remove the negative terminal from the battery, since there is a high voltage wire near the filler hole.
  2. To make the lubricant flow out faster, increase the fluid fluidity level by warming up the engine a little. This will make the oil change more intensive, plus you will be able to get rid of the maximum amount of old lubricant in the engine. Do not overheat the engine, otherwise hot oil will end up on your skin when drained, causing serious burns. Up to 50 degrees is enough.
  3. Unscrew the plug for filling in fresh oil to eliminate vacuum when draining old lubricant.
  4. He finds a drain plug under the car.

    The cork is unscrewed with a 4-sided tool, the holes for which are usually dirty. Therefore, clean them and insert the key. An important feature of these motors is that it is not necessary to remove the engine protection to drain the liquid. There is a special hole for easy access to the neck.

  5. Carefully loosen the plug and turn it 2–3 turns. Now we substitute an empty container for drainage and unscrew the plug completely. Be careful not to let the oil spill on you. This is why rubber protective gloves are needed.
  6. While the grease is flowing out, take the oil puller and remove the old filter. It is located in the front part near the exhaust manifold. Clean the filter seat and remove the old gasket. Before installing, lightly lubricate the rubber ring on the new filter with oil. Fill 50% of its volume with fresh lubricant inside the filter itself. Insert it into place and screw it on.

    You can tighten it with a puller, but do not apply too much force, otherwise you will break it.

  7. When the oil is drained, wipe everything with a rag, be sure to change the copper ring on the plug and screw it into place. Here, too, medium tightening efforts are needed.
  8. We begin to fill in fresh engine lubricant. 8-valve engines of 1.4 and 1.6 liters. First add only 3 liters.

    We add everything else, following the marks on your dipstick. When it shows the level halfway between o and "Max", close the cap and warm up the engine for 20 seconds. The oil lamp on the instrument panel should go out. 10 minutes after turning off the engine, take the dipstick again and check the level. If necessary, add a little oil.

The procedure is simple, but requires your attention and compliance with safety rules. Replacement is carried out literally in 1 hour.

Checking the oil level

Engine

Checking the engine oil level should be done on a level surface with the system warm. In Renault Logan, the control probe camera is curved, which causes some inconvenience when analyzing the level, but there is a little trick. Wipe the dipstick with a rag, insert it into the chamber for 2-3 seconds and pull it out again. On one side, the dipstick wakes up all covered in oil and it is impossible to determine how to level it, but on the other side of the dipstick you can see the real level, see for yourself.

How to replace the oil filter?

By default, Logan is equipped with a Renault filter with article number 7700274177. When replacing, you can buy an original part or find a suitable alternative. Some filters are the same size, allowing them to be used on different car models.

According to reviews from Renault Logan car owners, Mann Filter and Filtron TSN 1.9.2.204 cleaning elements are good analogues of standard filters. When selecting a filter, you should take into account its catalog code to avoid counterfeiting. A high-quality filter ensures the highest level of oil purification.

The above brands belong to the highest class of filters. Their purchase will be a profitable move when looking for an alternative to the standard oil purification filter for Renault Logan.

Short description

The Renault K4M 1.6 16V engine is used for installation on Renault Logan 1.6, Renault Sandero 1.6, Renault Megane 2 and 3, Renault Laguna, Renault Scenic cars. Peculiarities. The main difference between the Renault K4M engine and the K7J and K7M is the cylinder head with two camshafts for the intake and exhaust valves (cylinder head 16V). The cylinder block, crankshaft, flywheel K4M and K7M are identical. The engine is available with a phase regulator (115 hp) and without it (102 hp). Unlike eight-valve engines, the K4M is quieter (including due to the presence of hydraulic compensators), more flexible, more powerful and more economical. The engine life is still high - 350-450 thousand km. It is worth paying more attention to the fuel being poured; due to low-quality gasoline, the idle speed fluctuates and dips occur while driving.
