Nissan Almera Classic is a budget passenger car that has firmly settled in the garages and hearts of Russian drivers. Distributed in our country from 2002 to 2012. The model was presented in two versions - with a four-speed automatic transmission and a five-speed manual transmission. The mechanical transmission of the presented model is highly reliable, stable, and easy to maintain. For its normal functioning, careful selection and timely replacement of transmission oil is necessary. Service at service centers is not cheap. However, if you wish, you can change the oil yourself - the simple design of the box does not create any obstacles for this.

- harsh climatic conditions;
- off-road driving;
- frequent overheating of the transmission;
- use of low-quality oil.
In these cases, the recommended replacement interval is 60 thousand kilometers. And in other unfavorable situations – even less.
If gear lubricant is not replaced in a timely manner, it loses its lubricating and protective abilities. Particles of soot, deposits, and metal shavings accumulate. This leads to malfunctions in the operation of the manual transmission. Speeds shift worse, with hesitations and jerks. Unpleasant sounds and vibrations appear. This also contributes to rapid wear of the transmission as a whole and its individual parts.
To monitor the condition of the oil, it is necessary to check its level every 20 thousand kilometers and visually assess the quality. The product darkens, contains impurities, and smells unpleasantly of burning when it’s time to change it.
In addition, you should pay attention to the behavior of the gearbox. If gear shifts become worse, uncharacteristic jerks and hesitations appear, the gearbox creaks, grinds, vibrates, or makes some other strange sounds, then the oil should be changed. If after this the problem does not disappear, then the transmission should be diagnosed for breakdowns.

Every car owner understands the principle of operation of lubricants. No matter how much fluid the owners fill the transmission with and no matter how high its quality, over time the operational period of any product comes to an end. The material loses its working properties, accumulates many different components released during the operation of the vehicle, and deteriorates. The oil in a Nissan Almera Classic manual or automatic transmission becomes thicker in winter, and a large number of additives and other various harmful elements accumulate in it.

How much transmission fluid will be required for a complete change?
The second, no less important question when buying gear oil: how many liters of it to buy, since each excess canister is an additional and unjustified financial waste. The manufacturer in the instructions for the Nissan Almera Classic indicates that the manual transmission will contain an oil volume of 2.8 to three liters. In practice, these figures are not one hundred percent true. According to data from service center specialists and experienced mechanics, the Nissan Almera Classic manual transmission will require 3.2 liters of oil. Accordingly, you need to immediately buy four liters of transmission fluid so that you don’t have to quit work and run for the missing lubricant.
Checking the oil level
It is easy to assess the oil level in a Nissan Almera Classic B10 manual transmission, because there is a dipstick located on the body in the engine compartment of the car. The dipstick has special marks showing the maximum and minimum permissible lubricant levels.
To measure the level, you need to remove the dipstick, wipe it with a clean dry cloth, and insert it back. It is important to take a lint-free cloth that is not loose, so that its particles do not stick to the dipstick and then get into the oil. Then take it out again and check the level. If the lubricant level drops critically, you must immediately add fluid and diagnose the transmission for leaks.
The Nissan Almera Classic MT is characterized by crankcase fogging, in which part of the lubricant evaporates. But this indicator should not be critical. Oil starvation can lead to failure of the entire system. After all, oil performs lubricating and protective functions, promotes the normal functioning of gears, washes out particles of metal shavings, and prevents wear of parts.

To change the fluid in the mechanics of the Nissan Almera Classic B10, you will need the following devices, materials and spare parts:
- set of wrenches;
- an oil syringe or funnel equipped with a hose;
- an empty container into which the waste will flow;
- rags (without lint, you can take non-woven material) and a suitable solvent;
- special automotive sealant;
- new o-rings;
- new oil filter.
And, of course, a new transmission fluid is needed to replace it. For a complete replacement you will need about 7 liters, for a partial replacement - from 2.5 to 3.5 liters.
Instructions
Before replacing, you need to warm up the engine well and place the vehicle on a pit or overpass. As a last resort, use a jack. Allow the engine to cool slightly to avoid getting burned, and remove the crankcase protection. Further sequence of actions:
- Unscrew the filler plug located in the engine compartment, next to the cooling system hoses on the front of the gearbox housing.
- Find the drain plug on the bottom (it is located on the starter box, on the driver's side of the car), unscrew it. Don’t forget to place a sufficiently capacious and stable container under the hole to drain the waste.
- After draining the used liquid, carefully wipe the neck, clean the plug, and put it in place with a new sealing ring. It is recommended to change the ring every time.
- If the used oil is too dark, smells like burning, or has foreign impurities, it is also necessary to clean the pan. To do this, unscrew the bolts that secure it and remove it.
- Clean the tray using a rag and solvent. Remove traces of old sealant and metal shavings. Clean the magnets.
- Dry the tray. Apply a thin layer of sealant to the place where it connects to the gearbox housing and smooth it out.
- Place the pan in place, press firmly so that the sealant “seizes,” and secure with bolts.
- Replace the oil filter with a new one.
- After these manipulations, you can pour fresh oil into the box. This is done through the test hole using a special syringe or funnel with a hose. You need to pour the liquid until it flows out of the opening.
- After this, tighten the plug and start the engine. Warm up the car by sequentially shifting all gears in forward and reverse sequence.
- After this, check the oil level and the entire system for leaks.
The described sequence of actions is sufficient for a partial oil change in the Almera Classic manual transmission. The system is designed in such a way that it cannot completely leak out on its own; some percentage will still remain inside. If this remaining oil is in very bad condition, it may degrade the quality of the new oil when mixed with it.
Complete replacement at home is carried out using the displacement method. To do this, after completing all the described steps, you need to drain the oil again and fill in new one. Thus, for a complete replacement you need twice as much pure product as for a partial replacement.
Changing the Almera Classic automatic transmission lubricant
The design of the Nissan Almera Classic automatic transmission requires a complete or partial change of the lubricant. The automatic transmission is a Jatco RE4F04B. A partial oil change in an automatic transmission involves emptying the box cavity through the drain plug, followed by filling in new lubricant. Using this method, it will be possible to replace only half of the coolant in the automatic transmission, and the rest will be located in the torque converter.
A complete replacement can be performed in three ways:
- substitution;
- with dismantling the pallet;
- fast.
Using the replacement method requires the use of a special device that supplies fresh oil to the automatic transmission under pressure, gradually expelling the waste. This method is carried out at service centers with increased consumption of lubricant used.

Detailed description of a complete automatic transmission oil change on your own
To carry out a complete change of coolant in an Almera Classic automatic transmission with removal of the pan, you will need to prepare the following material:
- crankcase gasket (3139731Х02);
- oil filter (3172831X01);
- new lubricant;
- funnel;
- WD-40.
Changing the lubricant in the Almera Classic automatic transmission begins with emptying the gearbox cavity through the drain plug. Subsequently, the following actions are performed:
- The automatic transmission pan is dismantled by unscrewing 21 bolts, draining the remaining oil;
- There are magnets on the inside of the tray. From them you can judge the condition of the rubbing mechanisms of the automatic transmission, by the amount of metal shavings;
- Subsequently, the tray is cleaned, including using WD-40;
- If there is a large amount of chips on the magnets, the oil filter must be changed;
- Then we install the pan with a new gasket and fill it with fresh transmission fluid.
Oil must be filled strictly according to the specified marks, checking the level on a warm engine.
