Four ways to find out which alarm is on your car

How to find out the alarm model by key fob

The simplest method is to determine the alarm model using the key fob. To do this, you don't need to disassemble anything or get under the hood.

  1. The manufacturer's brand may simply be written on the keychain or its logo may be applied.
  2. If there is no logo and name, or they have been erased, then you can try to determine which alarm is on the car using the barcode on the sticker placed on the back of the key fob. Enter this number into the search bar of any search engine, and you will quickly find the information you need.
  3. You can also try to determine the type of system even by the appearance of the key fob. There are several resources on the Internet that provide databases of photographs of alarm key fobs. Or just take a photo of your keychain and search the photo in Yandex - it will find similar ones, in the descriptions of which you will find the alarm brand.
  4. Some key fobs have a sticker on the back with a technical support phone number, by calling which you will immediately receive all the necessary information.

What a car alarm key fob can tell you: buttons and their meaning

If this is your first time holding a car alarm key fob in your hands, then you can guess what functions it has.

Buttons on the key fob

They are most often marked with pentagrams, showing what function they are responsible for. For example, if the button shows a closed lock, this is the function of closing the doors and arming; if the button shows an open lock, this is the function of opening the doors and disarming the mode. If the button shows a crossed out loudspeaker, then the button is responsible for activating the silent mode (silent arming and disarming). To arm the car in silent mode, first press the silent mode button, and then the door close button.

Reference! This “silent” feature will help you not to disturb your neighbors with a sound signaling the locking of the car if you return to the yard at a late time.

The button may depict a car with an open trunk. When it is pressed, the algorithm for opening the luggage compartment lid starts.

However, on some key fobs, only its serial number is applied to the buttons, and then it will not be possible to make an assumption about their functions.

Icons on the display

An assumption about the range of alarm capabilities can be made by looking at the remote control display. The image of an hourglass indicates the presence of an autostart function on an alarm clock, the image of an hourglass indicates the presence of an automatic engine start function at a certain frequency.

The thermometer icon may indicate the possibility of auto-starting the engine when the engine reaches the set temperature and indicates service mode. "TURBO" - turbo timer mode, "AUTO" - automatic arming mode 10 seconds after closing all doors, "IMMO" - work in immobilizer mode. In this mode, the engine is blocked 30 seconds after the ignition is turned off.

Determining the alarm system in the car interior

If you were unable to determine which alarm system is installed on your car using the remote control, you can try to do this using the central unit.

Often it is installed in the cabin, but, as a rule, it is hidden from car thieves under the dashboard (dashboard) or even behind the steering wheel.

The central alarm unit is usually a rectangular plastic device with many wires going to it.

It is recommended to start with the LED, following the wires from it, and along the way disassembling everything in your path, you will get to the central unit. It is usually wrapped in foam or other shock-absorbing material.

The central alarm unit always has the security system manufacturer’s brand logo, and the sticker contains the model name and other additional information.

By functionality

This method is suitable for determining models of StarLine alarm systems. The devices look similar to each other, but their functions are different. Key fobs capable of performing the same set of tasks differ in some detail on the body.

Types of StarLine key fobs and their functions:

  • E90, A93, A94, B94, E90: dialogue code, shock sensor, tilt sensor, interior temperature control, autostart, turbo timer, CAN module, modular architecture, flexible service channels, silent operation of the unit, communication channel control, protection of channels from interference;
  • A64, B64, D64, E60: everything except autostart;
  • A6, A9: dialogue code, shock and tilt sensors, temperature control, turbo timer and CAN module;
  • A61: dialogue code, shock sensor, tilt sensor, interior temperature control, turbo timer;
  • A91: dialogue code, shock sensor, tilt sensor, interior temperature control, auto start.

Key fobs also differ from alarm systems from other manufacturers in the set of tasks, but only slightly. Sometimes it is difficult to guess the model of the alarm control panel on a particular car based on its functions. In such cases, it is better to use the following method.

We tell you how to determine from the key fob which Starline is installed based on external parameters or using Internet services.

Determining the alarm manufacturer by LED

In very rare cases, it is possible to find out the type of alarm without opening the entire interior and without wasting time searching on the Internet. This can be done using an LED.

The “Black Bug” alarm LED is rectangular in shape and it doesn’t just blink, but glows in different colors inside.

However, such identification is very rare; often it is necessary to use other methods.

The best ways to find out what alarm is on your car

After purchasing a new car that has already had an owner, the question arises: “How to find out what alarm system is on the car.”

This information will be very useful, since without it it will be impossible to purchase additional key fobs, change the settings of the security system, or completely turn off the alarm. Let's look at all the ways to accurately determine the brand of alarm.

How to find out what alarm system is on your car using the key fob

The easiest way to obtain the necessary information is to find out the alarm model using the key fob. To do this, you don’t have to look for an alarm unit or disassemble the dashboard in the cabin.

All the necessary information is in your pocket. The situation can become significantly more complicated if there is no key fob: it was lost or the previous owner did not give it to you.

In this case, you will have to use any other method.

If you have the key fob in your hands, then here are brief instructions on how to find out the manufacturer of the car alarm:

Depending on the site or service, search filters can differ greatly from each other.

Determining the car alarm model based on the car interior

If it was not possible to determine the make and model of the security system from the control panel, you will have to do this by searching for the central unit. The central block is the main part of any signaling system.

When installing it, they try to hide it well, because attackers should not gain access to it when stealing a car.

This important detail looks like a small box, not necessarily strictly rectangular in shape. There are many wires going to it.

Be prepared to disassemble part of the car's interior and panels in search of this unit. The easiest way to find it is by the wire coming from the LED.

This can be difficult to do as the wire is not always clearly visible. Please also note that most often the unit is hidden either under the steering wheel or behind the dashboard of the car.

You need to start your search from these two places.

When you find the central block, examine it carefully. It can be wrapped in foam to minimize impacts and knocking of the unit against the vehicle.

This information will help you quickly and easily find out the manufacturer of the security system.

We distinguish manufacturers by LED

Sometimes it’s not necessary to go as far as dismantling the interior. In rare cases, the LED that is installed behind the car's windshield will help you find out the brand of the alarm.

The “Black Bug” brand alarm has a rectangular LED; it doesn’t just glow and blink, but has several different lights inside it.

You may not always be so lucky, and in most cases the security system LED will not provide any useful information.

Contacting a car service

You can always turn to professionals for qualified help. If you contact the service center where the alarm was installed, you can find out its model very quickly.

The fact is that most often car services install only a few models of security systems, so it will be very easy for employees to give you the necessary information.

If the car service did not install an alarm, you can still contact specialists.

And so that everything works and falls into place.

The option of contacting the service is perfect for those who do not want to disassemble the interior of the car themselves and delve into the markings of alarms and their key fobs.

We can conclude that you can find out the exact brand and model of the alarm system, and in many cases this is very easy to do. You may get lucky and the alarm name will be given by the LED.

In most other situations, you will have to recognize it by the key fob or by the markings on the central unit.

Contact the car service

If you are not confident in your abilities and do not want to disassemble the dashboard yourself, you can always use the help of professionals - contact a car service center or a company specializing in installing alarms, for example, if you are in Moscow, then on Korolev.

For a small fee, specialists will sort everything out themselves and find out what kind of alarm system you have installed. Moreover, they are guaranteed to put everything back together so that it works correctly again.

To determine the type of security system, you can, in principle, use any service, but it is recommended to use the services of official companies.

So, to summarize what was written above, it can be noted that you can determine the type of alarm by the logo or information on the key fob, by the markings on the central unit, or, if you’re lucky, by the appearance of the LED.

Four ways to find out which alarm is on your car

When you bought a car that has already been used and already had an owner, you will definitely be interested in what kind of alarm system is installed on the car.

This is very important to know in order to buy additional key fobs, configure the system, or even turn off the alarm altogether. In this article we will examine this issue in detail, how to determine the type and brand of alarm on your car.

By keychain in online services

You can find out the alarm model by key fob using special websites. To do this, just take a photo of the device at the moment when any information is displayed on its display, and upload the resulting photo to the search bar. Google has a similar feature. It is better to check the image using several services, because... search filters in them may be different.

You can find out which alarm is installed in your car by looking at the barcode on the back of the key fob or under it. It is a set of numbers and letters on a sticker. This combination of characters must be written in the search bar of the browser. In response, the search engine can return not only the name of the manufacturer, but also the model number of the alarm system.

Identification marks in the form of a combination of letters and numbers indicating the product model may be located inside the case or on the board.

To see them, you will have to disassemble the keychain.

There are websites that contain images of keychains from different companies. You can find a similar device there. To do this, you will have to look at the pictures of the devices yourself. Such a search is more reliable: the user will recognize the key fob, even if it is photographed from a different angle, and the system may make a mistake.

Manual

According to the instruction manual, it is recommended to test the alarm after installation. To do this, you need to turn the security mode on and off and monitor the operation of the central locking system in the car. It should close and open accordingly.

Control key fob

Working batteries must be inserted into the remote control before use. The batteries are inserted into a special compartment located behind the protective back cover.

Setting up the key fob

There are several ways to bind a communicator, for example, for the Excellent Plus model, programming is done as follows:

  1. The car door opens, but there is no need to close it. The driver gets behind the wheel.
  2. The key in the lock is turned seven times to the “ACC” position and back, as a result, the ignition must be left on. If all actions are performed correctly, the external lights will blink once after three seconds.
  3. On the device to be programmed, press buttons 1 and 2 simultaneously. When pairing is successful, the external lighting devices will flash three times.
  4. Similar actions are performed with each registered communicator. In total, the control unit memory allows you to program no more than three pagers.
  5. To leave the binding menu, the vehicle's ignition is turned off and the driver's door is closed.

In the Jerry model, you can program a new communicator using a personal code or without it (second setup option):

  1. The car's ignition turns on.
  2. The button to enter the service mode of servicing the system is pressed three times. After the last “click”, one siren signal will sound, indicating readiness for binding.
  3. Button 1 (to arm) is pressed and held for several seconds. You can release the key after the pager emits a melodic signal and the LED goes into blinking mode with long pauses.
  4. Other devices are programmed in the same way.
  5. To exit the binding menu, you must turn off the ignition system or take no action for 8 seconds.

When using a personal password, the programming procedure is performed as follows:

  1. In the car, the ignition system turns on, turns off, and then turns on again.
  2. Using the button to enter the service mode, the first digit of the password is entered. The number of presses must correspond to the code sign.
  3. The ignition in the car turns off and turns on again.
  4. The next password character is entered.
  5. Then the ignition is turned off and activated again. A siren will sound to confirm that the code has been accepted.
  6. Press the button to enter the service mode three times. On the communicator, the first button is pressed and held.
  7. To exit the binding menu, the ignition in the car is turned off.

Setting the security mode

To enable the Fighter alarm protection mode, use the first button on the remote control; press it briefly.

If you need to activate security without a key fob, perform the following steps:

  1. The button to enter the service mode is pressed and held for 3 seconds. The siren should sound once. If all the door locks are locked, then you need to open and close at least one of them.
  2. After the last door is locked, the security mode will be activated within three seconds.

To disable the security mode, use the second button of the key fob, but if the remote control is lost or broken, you can use the emergency deactivation method:

  1. The car door opens, which will activate the security function.
  2. The driver sits behind the wheel and turns the ignition system on and off three times. As a result, it must be left activated. There is no need to close the door while completing the task.
  3. The status LED will work without blinking. The security mode should be disabled. After this, the ignition is turned off and the LED will flash slowly.
  4. It is necessary to start counting the flashes. After their number matches the first digit of the password, the ignition in the car is turned off. The LED will start to light continuously.
  5. The ignition in the car turns off again. The diode light will begin to blink; you need to count the number of blinks corresponding to the second digit of the code.
  6. As a result, the ignition in the car turns on and off again. If the code is entered correctly, the alarm will disable the security mode.

Code change

The process of changing the password is as follows:

  1. The car door opens, there is no need to lock it.
  2. The ignition system is turned on and off 7 times by turning the key from the “Off” to “ACC” position and back. As a result, it should remain activated. The user must wait until the car's warning light blinks, this will happen in two seconds.
  3. Over the next 3 seconds, button 4 is pressed on the communicator. If you do not have time to do this, the system will exit the password change menu. When entering programming mode, the alarm light will blink three times.
  4. The first digit of the personal password is entered; for this, the first key of the pager is used. You need to have time to do this no later than three seconds after the last blinking of the light alarm. The number of presses must correspond to the code number.
  5. The next character of the password is entered, but now the second pager button is used for this. With each “click”, the external lighting fixtures will blink.
  6. The ignition system is turned off, after which the door to the car is closed. You need to wait a few seconds until the warning light blinks three times.

The process of changing the password for a car with a Jerry alarm is performed using a different algorithm:

  1. Security mode is disabled. The user must then activate, turn off and turn on the ignition system again.
  2. Over the next ten seconds, the first character of the password is entered. To do this, use the button to enter the service mode.
  3. The ignition system turns off and on.
  4. The second code value is entered in the same way. Then the ignition must be turned off and on again. If the valid password is entered successfully, the siren will play a short beep.
  5. Then within five seconds you need to turn off the ignition system and enter a new code.
  6. To enter the setup menu, the service mode key is pressed five times. This will cause the siren to sound first with a short and then a long signal.
  7. Within five seconds after the last pulse, the first button on the communicator is pressed. One siren signal will sound to confirm that the code is ready to be entered.
  8. Using the service key, the first password value is entered, for which the user has ten seconds. Characters are entered from 1 to 9, the number of presses must correspond to the number. The siren will sound as confirmation.
  9. The second key on the pager is pressed, this will cause the alarm to switch to the mode of assigning the next password character.
  10. After a double siren signal, a new value is entered.
  11. To exit the programming menu, the vehicle's ignition is turned off. The siren will play two beeps. If they are absent, you will need to activate and disable the security mode, and then perform the code assignment procedure again.

Sensor management

To enter the shock sensor settings menu, you need to press the third button of the communicator within three seconds after turning on the protection mode:

  • with a subsequent short “click,” the controller’s warning level is switched off;
  • double pressing will completely deactivate the shock regulator;
  • with a triple “click” the device returns to its usual operating mode.

System operation in alarm mode

The alarm mode is activated in the following events:

  • opening doors when security is on (the alarm detects the opening of the limit switches);
  • receiving a signal from the shock sensor alarm zone;
  • activation of the ignition system and attempt to start the engine;
  • turning off the voltage in the car's electrical network.

The alarm mode is activated for thirty seconds; when activated, the siren is activated, as well as external lighting devices. If the limit switch remains open and the ignition is on, then the alarm cycles are repeated three times in a row. Accordingly, the total operating time of the mode can be 90 seconds.

To turn off the alarms, use buttons 1 or 2, while the vehicle remains protected. When the warning zone of the shock sensor is triggered, the siren beeps five times.

Automatic start

Before setting up remote engine start on cars with auto start, you need to perform the program neutral procedure:

  1. The parking brake lever in the car rises, the engine must be started at this moment.
  2. The third key is pressed on the communicator. External lighting fixtures will blink twice.
  3. The key in the lock is turned to the “Off” position and removed from the lock. The power unit should not stall after this.
  4. The driver leaves the cabin and closes the door, after which the engine should stop. If this happens, the vehicle is ready to implement the autostart option.

To configure the function, perform the following steps:

  1. The engine auto start button is pressed on the pager and must be held for three seconds. The siren will sound and the engine starting procedure will begin.
  2. The ignition is activated, which will cause the crankshaft to rotate by the starter mechanism. The system will make a total of four startup attempts if one of them fails. When using the function on a car with a diesel engine, a pause of 7 seconds is maintained between activating the ignition and cranking the crankshaft. It is required to warm up the glow plugs, which simplifies starting the engine at low negative temperatures.
  3. If the power unit has started, the corresponding indicator will appear on the indicator display. Depending on the user settings, the engine operating time can be 7 or 15 minutes.

Programmable Features

On most Fighter models, entering the options programming menu is done as follows:

  1. The car's protection mode is turned off.
  2. The ignition system is turned on and off three times, ultimately leaving the key in the “Off” position.
  3. The button to enter the car service mode is pressed 2, 4, 6 or 8 times. After the last “click” it must be held until the siren beeps several times. If an extended pulse is heard, this indicates entry into the function setup menu in accordance with the tables. The emergency button can be released.
  4. The controls on the remote are then used to assign options or disable them.
  5. The ignition in the car turns on. The siren should sound three times, indicating that the setup menu is deactivated. This mode turns off automatically within 15 seconds if the user does not take any action.

Modern models

The cheapest A-series uses different key fobs depending on the generation. StarLine A93/A63 initially used a key fob in the shape of a beveled parallelepiped; the protrusion of the first button was retained.

However, this car alarm has become an enviable long-liver, and to “refresh” the appearance, the key fob on the latest series was modified, receiving a display in the style of modern fifth-generation alarms (alarms with auto start), but unlike them - in traditional, and not inverse, colors.

One-Way Sheriff Systems

In Sheriff one-way anti-theft systems, the signal is transmitted from the driver to the car. The radio waves don't come back. The car owner may not know what is currently happening to the car.

Such alarms include: Sheriff PRO-9250, APS-35 Silver, APS-35PRO Platinum1 and others. Photos of key fobs of the one-way Sheriff complex are presented below.

Where to start identification?

Of course, the first thing that came to mind was to look at that same keychain under a microscope. Often you can find an engraved manufacturer’s emblem or alarm model on the case. In our case, there were no identifying marks at all, so we had to find out further. It turns out that most car alarm manufacturers have their own, exclusive style. For example, design or other design features. Having shown some ingenuity, we discovered some consistency in the products of the main car alarm brands.

  • Pharaon - covers the body with a coating very reminiscent of marble.
  • Mongoose – uses a signature engraving, the silhouette of a running mongoose.
  • Sirio Tank – pours a hull in the shape of a tank turret.
  • Cobra – it is logical that the keychains of this brand are similar to the hood of a snake.

As you can see, friends, even if you have a keychain of any of the brands described above, you will be able to identify it at the first meeting. However, my friend and I found ourselves in a different situation; there were no marbles, no snakes, and certainly no tanks on our keychain. Therefore, it was necessary to find another way to establish the identity of the overseas system.

Characteristic features of starline lines

Today, the anti-theft device market offers a huge variety of car alarms. Starline is no exception to the rule. Therefore, in order to accurately establish your key fob model, first of all, you need to identify the starline model range. The manufacturer of this brand offers its consumers 4 lines of key fobs: “A”, “B”, “D” and “E”. By each of the letters you can judge the class of the car alarm. In the case of starline, these are entry-level car alarms, premium-class, complete and expensive lines with built-in modules and locking mechanisms.

"E". This model range is characterized by a relatively low cost and the presence of auto start. Despite the budget option, the level of security of the “E” line is not inferior to other starline series. The lineup is represented by two models – E60 and E90. The presence of a shock sensor and a built-in tilt sensor is another distinctive feature of this model range. By the absence of a CAN module, you can also identify the “E” line.
"A". The widest range of starline keychains. A6 and A9 are representatives of the first generation of starline key fobs, which have long been replaced by updated models, including the “fresh” model of 2014 (A93). Older models (A62) are not equipped with auto start, unlike their successors A94 and A93. This model range is also characterized by the presence of a 128-channel transceiver.
"IN". The only representative of this model range that is not equipped with autostart is starline B64. StarLine b94, B94 GSM, B94 GSMGPS - have this function. A distinctive feature of this line is the built-in tracking service (implemented using the website starline-online.ru). This line can also be identified thanks to the built-in 512-channel transceiver.
"D". Key rings in this line have large overall dimensions, unlike other representatives of the starline model range. The main purpose of the “D” series is use on SUVs, as evidenced by the corresponding image on the display. Starline B64 does not have autostart; D94 GSM, D94 are equipped with a similar function. As a rule, this series comes with 3 replaceable sockets.

Oh almighty internet...

If you can’t find out the alarm model right away, feel free to open your laptop and go online! That’s what we did, and most importantly, we didn’t make a mistake. Can you imagine there are specialized sites on the Internet where probably all the existing keychains on earth are collected. At least it seemed so to me, thank God ours was there too. The comrade’s joy knew no bounds, well, he likes to see everything through to the end.

Out of the whole bunch of pages that we flipped through, I highlighted two really good ones, enjoy them to your health!

The best ways to find out what alarm is on your car

After purchasing a new car that has already had an owner, the question arises: “How to find out what alarm system is on the car.” This information will be very useful, since without it it will be impossible to purchase additional key fobs, change the settings of the security system, or completely turn off the alarm.

The easiest and most obvious way is to simply find the name on the keychain itself. Most devices have a company logo or name on it.

If it was not possible to identify the alarm in this way, then proceed to the next step. A barcode, marking, or sticker can be applied to the back of the keychain. They necessarily contain information about the device. Usually, it is written in the form of an incomprehensible set of letters and numbers, but if you write this set in the search bar of a regular browser, then there is a high probability of finding out what alarm system is on your car.

Food for thought

Despite the fact that Fighter alarm systems belong to economy class security systems, they are quite capable of competing with more expensive brands not only in terms of security, but also in terms of functionality.

  1. StarLine. The fighter f 14 model (like most other F series systems) can easily be called a simplified version of Starline v9. It can also offer a silent security mode, automatic door unlocking/locking, security modes (panic, anti-burglary), passive engine blocking, and other protective and service functions useful for the user. Yes, it loses a little in terms of optional equipment (no feedback, no ability to work with a GSM and/or GPS module), but it takes its toll due to its attractive price.
  2. Tomahawk. The stealth fighter alarm (S – 111, for example), which already has a minimum set of necessary functions in its arsenal, requires the installation of additional elements, in particular a pager, a remote control module for starting the engine, position and volume sensors, which significantly expand its capabilities and degree of comfort. Exactly the same “optional equipment” is recommended for such a popular alarm model as the Tomahawk TW-7010 (which, it should be noted, is more expensive).

Analogies can be made with other products from well-known brands (Pantera, Mongoose, Pandora, APS, Alligator, Pharaon and others), but the conclusion is always clear: more expensive does not mean better.

Fighter alarms may not yet boast worldwide fame, but they are quite capable of satisfying the needs of those who value practicality and reliability for little money! And there are many such car enthusiasts in our country!

Take a closer look at the LED

In rare cases, it is possible not to disassemble half the interior when getting to the central unit, but simply take a closer look at the LED. For example, in the “Black Bug” signal, the light bulb will have a rectangular shape that is uncharacteristic of other manufacturers, and in addition it always shimmers with different colors of the rainbow. You definitely can't confuse it with others.

True, the rest of the LEDs are not particularly original, so it will not be possible to guess the device model by their appearance.

Let's sum it up

High-quality modern security systems for cars may not be the best option if you use the key fob carelessly. As soon as the alarm key fob fails, you will have to take action to solve the problem. And often in such a situation it is not possible to change the key fob or other alarm elements. Performing these tasks will require too many settings and complex actions to actually hack the security system. Therefore, it will be easier and better to install a new alarm system and not have to figure out what security system is currently installed in your car.

If you buy a car second-hand with an alarm already installed, ask the owner what model of security system was installed. If the alarm comes from the factory, you can search for information from an authorized dealer or on the Internet. Cars of a certain year of manufacture are equipped with one type of alarm system, so you can easily find such information. Have you had any troubles with the alarm remote control in your driving experience?

Advantages and disadvantages

Advantages of Fighter car alarms:

  1. System versatility. Installation of the alarm is possible on vehicles with a gasoline or diesel engine, regardless of the type of gearbox (automatic or manual).
  2. Affordable price for many consumers.
  3. Application of proprietary encryption technology to protect signals.
  4. Availability of a detailed service manual in Russian included.
  5. Great functionality, typical for full-fledged anti-theft systems.

Disadvantages characteristic of these alarms:

  1. Some system models are not equipped with key fobs with screens; accordingly, these versions do not have the possibility of feedback.
  2. Weak body of pagers. After several falls, the device may become damaged.

Characteristic

A detailed overview of the technical parameters of the budget model of “alarm” for the Fighter car:

  1. The anti-theft system is powered from a 12-volt source, so the use of this model on motorcycles and heavy-duty vehicles is not allowed. It is possible to increase the voltage in the electrical network to 24 V, but under such conditions the system should operate for no more than one minute.
  2. When the security mode is turned on, the current consumption of the alarm system will be no more than 15 mA.
  3. The duration of the alarms is 30 seconds, but in the case of a permanently open zone the time increases to two minutes.
  4. Information about no more than three communicators can be entered into the memory of the system control unit.
  5. The temperature range for operation of the microprocessor module is from -40 to +85 degrees. It is possible to increase this parameter to +125°C, but under such conditions the device should operate for no more than one minute. For the communicator, the operating temperature range is from -10 to +55 degrees.

Starline model identification by built-in functions

So, if you successfully managed to install the line of your Starline key fob, a specific model can be identified by a set of built-in functions. A specific starline key fob model can be classified by the presence of built-in functions, operating modes, and sensors:

By appearance

If you have a key fob, it is not difficult to find out the model of the car alarm in your car. The device may contain the name of the manufacturer or its logo. Keychains from StarLine do not have a special shape, but the inscriptions on their body are written so that they are difficult to erase. For example, Leopard produces various miniature transmitters. Fighter key fobs do not differ in appearance; the company name is easily erased from them; many users complain about poor protection against damage.

Manufacturers of some brands of security systems have chosen a design for their products that distinguishes them from a number of similar items:

It is not always possible to recognize the model number of a product by the appearance of the key fob, even if it has the manufacturer’s logo. Other specifications may be listed on or underneath the back of the product. If the model is not listed there, it is better to use other ways to determine it.

On the Starline A39 and A36 alarm systems (these are the same A93 and A63, but supplied exclusively to car dealerships), the key fob was used unchanged from the base model. The key fob did not change in the “economical” configuration of the A93 ECO, but in the A63 ECO it was updated.

Subsequently, a “full-fledged” fourth-generation A-series entered the market. These alarms were distinguished by the original integration of the CAN module in all trim levels and the shape of the key fob - the designers returned to the days of Dialog Flex alarms.

Simultaneously with the release of the fourth generation of StarLine alarms, the company’s marketers identified a separate line of alarms for SUVs, calling it the D-series. The “off-road” series alarms did not have any real differences in design, except for the new rectangular key fob. The Starline D64 and D94 alarm key fobs were sold in two colors: blue and red. At the same time, unlike the A61 4x4 and A91 4x4, the fourth button of the key fob is functional, and the key fobs themselves are absolutely identical in appearance.

In the B series, the “soap” keychains were preserved; the display in them also did not change.

The E series after the update (models E60.1, E90.1, E61.1, E91.1, E63, E93) did not change the design of the key fob. The key fob was updated only in the fifth generation (Starline E95, E65). The screen changed its orientation to vertical, the graphics on it were unified with the interface of the StarLine mobile application:

The fifth generation Series A received the same screen.

StarLine series D is easily recognizable by its rectangular red body. The updated inverse display has moved here too.

And finally, sixth generation alarm systems have entered the market. The B series and the new X series added to it are recognizable by the previously familiar “remnant” of the B-series, and the display orientation has again become horizontal, but the inverse coloring has been preserved from the fifth generation alarms. Instead of an LCD screen, OLED is now used.

Starline A66 and A96 again received a beveled key fob body, but now they have a new screen, and a color one at that.

The E-series abandoned the vertical screen orientation, and the screen itself now looks much simpler and cheaper than in the fifth generation. This is not surprising - now the E-series itself is positioned as cheaper, while in the fifth generation it was one of the most sophisticated.
