Possible problems after replacing the fuel filter

Most motorists, after replacing the fuel cell on many cars, including the Hyundai Accent, are faced with a common problem - the engine either does not want to start, or does not start the first time. The cause of this malfunction is most often the O-ring. If, after inspecting the old filter, you find an o-ring on it, then the pumped gasoline will flow back, and the pump will have to re-pump it each time. If the o-ring is missing or mechanically damaged, it must be replaced with a new one. Without this part, the fuel system will not function as intended.

Fuel filter location

The fine fuel filter on a gasoline car is located under the hatch located under the rear seats.

Filter location

The coarse mesh is assembled with the glass. The module is placed in the gas tank.

On a diesel Hyundai Accent, the filter is located in the engine compartment.

Location

The fuel filter of the Hyundai Accent is located under the rear seat in a special bracket attached to the fuel tank. This is especially convenient in winter, when the fuel filter can be replaced without prolonged exposure to frost and strong wind. The front seats move as far as possible towards the instrument panel, resulting in easy access to the replaceable filter. It is recommended to use gloves when replacing.

The Hyundai Accent fuel filter is located to the left of the fuel pump assembly, which consists of a coarse filter element and a fuel level sensor. In general, the Hyundai Accent fuel assembly consists of high-quality, reliable components, so few people have to remove and disassemble it during the entire life of the car.

Replacing the fuel filter on a Hyundai Accent

Photo instructions for replacing the fuel filter on a Hyundai Accent yourself, for those who want to save a couple of hundred rubles on a car service.

Attention! The material is provided as an example only. If you are not confident in your own abilities, then it is better to entrust this work to a master at a car service center. When carrying out work to replace the fuel filter, do not smoke in the passenger compartment and remove the key from the ignition switch.

The fuel filter replacement interval for a Hyundai Accent is 10 thousand km. (or more if desired. See Update at the end of the page). I myself use the original MOBIS 31911 25000 filter. Price: 300-400 rubles. This filter is also used on Hyundai Verna.

In the Accent, the fuel filter is located under the rear seat, which is especially important in winter: there is no need to struggle in the cold and wind when replacing the fuel filter. For ease of operation, I recommend moving the front seats as far forward as possible. I strongly recommend using disposable cotton gloves, otherwise you will have to wash your hands of mastic and dirt for a long time.

There are two levers under the rear seat. We press on them to unlock the fastenings of the sofa, and lift the seat up.

Next you need to remove the black cover. It is not screwed and is secured with mastic. We pick up one of the corners and slowly “tear off” the cover.

In the photo the fuel filter is on the left. On the right is a fuel cell with a fuel pump, a fuel level sensor and a coarse filter. The reliability of the fuel cell components is high and, if you're lucky, you won't have to remove it for the entire life of the car. I removed it myself once at 90 thousand km to clean the coarse filter (to calm my soul). In general, Hyundai Accent previously boasted about the reliability of the car.

Disconnect the electrical connector from the fuel filter (just pull it towards you) and remove the filter from the spring clamp.

Next, you need to transfer the fuel pipes to the new fuel filter. Attention: there is gasoline in the fuel system and if the pipes are disconnected, it may spill. To disconnect the pipe, you need to press a couple of buttons on the sides (turquoise in the photo) and pull it towards you.

Do not disconnect both pipes at once; there is a lot of gasoline inside the old fuel filter. When transferring the second pipe, hold the inlet and outlet of the old filter with your fingers so as not to create a puddle of gasoline under the seat, and thus immediately take it to the trash bin.

Make sure the pipes are inserted all the way. There should be a click when connected. I screwed up once and didn’t complete the graduation. As a result, the car was able to drive normally for a couple of kilometers, after which it began to stall when the accelerator was pressed. And a puddle of gasoline formed under the back seat sofa.

Carefully insert the fuel filter into place, do not scrape the pipes along the sharp metal edges. Connect the electrical block.

When closing the black cover, check that the electrical wire is inserted under the metal and that the cover will not press on it.

Update. What is the fuel filter replacement interval on an Accent?

The question itself turned out to be quite interesting. When I bought my car and had it serviced at branded service stations, the fuel filter was changed every 10 thousand km. As I understand it, this was more related to the desire of car services to earn more money from customers. When I got off the hook from branded service and switched to replacing consumables myself, I maintained this interval of 10 thousand.

How is the replacement made?

In a Hyundai Accent, the filter is located under the rear seat, which must first be raised. To do this, open the latches at the bottom and lift the entire seat up. The filter is closed with a lid, also glued with mastic. Carefully, so as not to stain everything around, remove the lid. Keep in mind that this mastic is quite corrosive; it will be difficult to wash it off later.

Under the cover you will find a fuel filter in a clamp. Pull it towards you to remove it from the box. A pair of pipes extend from the filter. Since when they are disconnected from the part, gasoline will immediately begin to flow out, spread a rag in advance and only then disconnect the pipes by pressing the special clamps on the sides.

Immediately after the filter is removed, lift both pipes up by their ends to block the flow of fuel and not dirty the remaining parts. Now, holding them in this position, attach the new filter to them. Make sure that the latches are fastened, producing a characteristic sound. Check to see if the arrow on the filter is pointing in the same direction as the old part. Fuel should flow in this direction.

You can wrap the old filter in a rag and throw it away. Now all that remains is to close the box with a lid, attaching it to the mastic, then return the back seat to its place.

Where is and when to change the Hyundai Accent fuel filter

First you need to relieve the pressure in the fuel system. To do this, you can simply unscrew the fuel tank cap. Then fold back the seat cushion by unlatching the fasteners at the front. There is a panel under the seat that blocks access to the fuel filter and pump.

To remove the panel, pry it off with a flat-head screwdriver. Next, you need to disconnect the wire connector and fuel pipes from the filter. After which you can install a new filter and go through the procedure in reverse order.

These instructions with photos will help you clearly see how to replace the fuel filter on a 2002 Hyundai Accent.

In Russia, all motorists are aware of the quality of fuel sold at gas stations. The owners of some stations simply ignore quality standards, chasing profit; this fact will not surprise anyone. Both cars, owners, and their wallets suffer from such fraud. Under such severe operating conditions, the fuel filter must be replaced more often than usual.

In the service book of a Hyundai Accent from the manufacturer, the recommended replacement interval for the fuel filter is 30,000 km. As for official service stations, in pursuit of money, a service replacement interval is provided for every 10,000 km.

Routine maintenance and oil change

Timely maintenance of Hyundai Accent allows you to avoid breakdowns, ensure the required level of safety during operation, and increase the comfort of the driver and passengers. The manufacturer recommends maintenance of the Hyundai Accent every 10,000 km. However, the first inspection, zero, is carried out after the speedometer has accumulated two thousand kilometers.

During the first maintenance, the manufacturer specifies:

  • Visual inspection of the body and underbody to detect violations of the integrity of the paintwork and protective anti-corrosion treatment.
  • Check the condition of the drive belts, tighten or replace if necessary.
  • Checking the condition of high-voltage wires and spark plugs.
  • Hyundai Accent oil change. The oil recommended by the manufacturer - Shell Helix 5w40 can be replaced by another brand. Along with changing the engine oil on a Hyundai Accent, the oil filter must be replaced.
  • Checking the condition of engine hoses and pipes.
  • Monitoring the level of consumable fluids (brake, coolant, etc.), topping up to the required level.
  • Checking the exhaust system for tightness.
  • Checking the tightness of the fuel supply system.
  • Checking the functionality of the vehicle's electrical system (lighting, sound and light alarms, battery, etc.).
  • Checking the condition of the suspension mechanisms, incl. ball joints and dust caps of SHC joints.
  • Inspection of anthers and steering rack hinges.
  • Checking the oil level in the manual transmission / fluid in the automatic transmission.
  • Inspect the condition of the handbrake lever and cable, adjust if necessary.
  • Checking the performance of the brake system (tightness of brake fluid circulation hoses, inspection of discs, pads, drums).
  • Lubrication of locks and hinges of doors and trunk.
  • Computer diagnostics of a car.

During subsequent maintenance, these standard measures are supplemented by:

  • 1. Replacing the Hyundai Accent fuel filter. When operating a car in Russian conditions with low fuel quality, this procedure must be carried out every 10 thousand kilometers.
  • 2. Cleaning the air filter, if necessary, replacing the Hyundai Accent air filter.
  • 3. Checking the condition of car engine spark plugs. If necessary, replace Hyundai Accent spark plugs.

Work performed during maintenance of Hyundai Accent at a certain frequency:

  • Every 30,000 km, it is recommended to flush the injector and change the oil in the manual transmission. We also carry out diagnostics and, if necessary, replacement of Hyundai Accent brake pads.
  • Every 40,000 km, the coolant and brake fluids need to be replaced, as well as bleeding the brake system. In automatic transmissions, the oil is changed without changing the gasket and filter.
  • Every 50,000 km, change the timing belts, air conditioning, generator, power steering on the Hyundai Accent, as well as belt tension rollers and, if necessary, the air conditioning roller bearing.
  • Every 60,000 km, the manufacturer recommends replacing high-voltage wires and replacing the fuel purification grid during maintenance.
  • The power steering fluid must be replaced after 90 thousand kilometers; replacement of Hyundai Accent brake discs is required as necessary.
  • It is recommended to replace the cabin air filter during each maintenance, and disinfect the air conditioner every 20 thousand kilometers.
  • Changing the Hyundai Accent engine oil is accompanied by replacing the aluminum drain plug washer.

How often should I replace it?

Replacing the Hyundai Accent fuel filter is carried out according to the requirements of the service regulations at every third maintenance, in other words, at an interval of 30 thousand kilometers.

In practice, this interval can vary widely: using only proven gas stations, you can travel all 60 thousand on one filter, and one “left” gas station can lead to a noticeable loss of capacity in one trip. However, taking into account the simplicity of the replacement process and the low price of the filter, it is most logical to focus specifically on the requirements of the maintenance schedule - by replacing the fuel filter yourself on a Hyundai Accent for the thirty-thousandth mileage, you can be confident in its performance.

The symptoms of premature failure of the fuel filter are well known: the car practically does not lose either ease of starting or traction at low speeds (fuel consumption is minimal and the filter has enough capacity), but under load and during acceleration the car begins to “stupid” up to the appearance of jerking - this clearly indicates that the fuel supply is limited.

The first measure in this case is to replace the fuel filter, and only if this does not help, the fuel module is removed for inspection - the fuel pump mesh and the fuel pump itself are checked.

Replacement frequency

In our country, not all gas stations sell truly high-quality fuel. In many cases, gas station owners literally ignore quality standards in an attempt to make an easy profit, and this fact comes as no surprise to anyone. Such frauds have a negative impact on cars, as well as on the wallets of their owners - in particular, the frequency of replacing the fuel filter is reduced.

According to the service book attached to the Hyundai Accent car by the manufacturer, the recommended period for replacing the fuel filter should be 30 thousand kilometers. If we talk about official service stations, they strive to maximize their income. Therefore, the service replacement interval there is only ten thousand kilometers.

In this regard, it is not surprising that many people prefer to replace the fuel filter on their own, gaining useful skills and reducing their financial costs. Before replacing the filter yourself, it is recommended to watch the corresponding video or read the text instructions in order to avoid various mistakes that could damage the car.

Fuel filter replacement procedure

Replacing the fuel filter on a Hyundai Accent is not a difficult task, so it is not necessary to pay several thousand rubles to have it done at specialized service stations. First of all, having diagnosed the need to repair a unit, it is important to prepare some tools. In a normal situation, the following things will be enough:

  • new filters of the required formation;
  • standard set of keys and sockets;
  • flat and Phillips screwdrivers;
  • pliers;
  • rags;
  • gloves

Are you prepared? The renovation can begin. As a rule, replacing the Accent fuel filter is carried out in the following order:

  1. First of all, it is necessary to carry out the procedure for relieving pressure in the fuel network of the car. The procedure for carrying out such an event is simple and consists of disconnecting the battery, gaining access to the fuel pump/mounting block, removing the assembly terminal/removing the required fuse, connecting the battery back and starting the engine. Finding the way to the fuel pump, by the way, is very simple - just unscrew the back seat and move the front seats further away, which, in principle, will have to be done in any case if you intend to replace the Hyundai Accent fuel filter.
  2. After you have gained access to the gas tank, you need to find a fine filter near it, which is important to replace first. Also, if desired, any owner of a Hyundai Accent can remove and disassemble the fuel pump, replacing the coarse filter element. By the way, dismantling both filters is carried out in a simple manner, the essence of which is to remove the fasteners on an intuitive level.
  3. After dismantling the filters and making sure that the fuel unit area is clean, all that remains is to install new filter elements and reassemble the car structure in the reverse order. At this point, the replacement of fuel filters is considered complete.

Note! In the process of removing all components, it is important to act carefully and try not to damage anything. Otherwise, in addition to replacing fuel filters, other repair procedures will have to be carried out.

As you can see, there are no particular difficulties in the procedure for replacing the fuel filter on a Hyundai Accent. The main thing in carrying out such repair activities is to act according to the algorithm described above. We assure you that by adhering to the noted provisions, each owner of the model will be able to replace the fuel filter with his own hands and without any problems. With this, perhaps, the most important information on the issue being considered today has come to an end. We hope the article was useful to you. Good luck on the roads and in repairs!

Replacing all Hyundai Accent filters

Replacing Hyundai Accent filters is required at different vehicle mileage. Typically, replacing filters does not require special knowledge and skills. But this does not mean that this should be taken carelessly. After all, the durability of components and assemblies, primarily the engine, depends on filters. After all, the engine air filter does not allow dust to pass through, which will quickly lead to wear and tear of the combustion chamber. The fuel filter traps dirt particles. which can easily reach the injectors through pipelines. The oil filter ensures the cleanliness of the oil on which the engine runs.

Next, we suggest that you familiarize yourself with the official regulations for replacing various filters for the Hyundai Accent.

  • Engine oil and oil filter - 10,000 km (or after 12 months)
  • Fuel filter – 10,000 km (or after 48 months)
  • Engine air filter – 40,000 km (or after 36 months)
  • Automatic transmission oil and filter – 90,000 km (or after 72 months)

We have already written about replacing the Hyundai Accent fuel filter.

To replace the air filter you will have to spend a couple of minutes of your time. We open the hood, next to the fuse block and battery we see the air filter housing. The casing cover can be easily removed, just unclip the 4 spring latches, remove the old filter and insert a new one. Actually, you don’t even need tools, except your hands, of course. Photos are attached below.

It’s impossible to imagine a simpler process.

The oil filter is replaced simultaneously with the oil change. In order to unscrew the filter, you will need to remove the engine protection (if equipped). The Hyundai Accent oil filter is located under the generator on the side of the engine cylinder block. Photo for clarity below.

In some modifications of the Hyundai Accent, a cabin filter was also installed. Replacing or installing a cabin filter on this car is not difficult. Please note that the original filter consists of two parts that are inserted in a certain way.

To replace the filter, you will have to unscrew the glove compartment and get to the casing of the heating and ventilation system located under the dashboard. To remove the glove compartment, press along the edges, bend it, and if it annoys you, finally remove it by unscrewing two bolts with a Phillips screwdriver.

To open the compartment where the filter should be located, it is necessary to remove the rod, which greatly interferes with us. Here she is.

Now carefully remove the plastic plug by pressing the latch on top (the main thing is not to break it).

Now you can install a new filter consisting of two parts. You can only insert a filter in a certain way

The shape of the outer frame of the air filter is quite specific, but also pay attention to the air direction arrows. Now we put the plug and rod in place and screw the glove compartment on. Everyone can enjoy the fresh air.

There is no exact data on the frequency of replacing the cabin filter on the Accent, because it all depends on many factors. If you drive on dusty dirt roads every day, your filter will become clogged after 5-6 thousand kilometers. If the environment is not very polluted, then the filter can travel for more than tens of thousands of kilometers. In any case, it is better to periodically check the filter for contamination and change it as necessary.

Important!

Be sure to disconnect the ground wire block from the fuel filter only after the tube tips have been removed from the fuel module and filter cover to avoid the formation of a spark when disconnecting the fuel lines.

When you attach the fuel pipes to the new filter, make sure to insert them all the way. A characteristic click will sound. Otherwise, you risk stalling on the road just a couple of kilometers after you start driving, and in addition you will have to dry and wash the puddle of gasoline that has formed under the seat of the rear sofa.

Remember, smoking in the cabin during work related to replacing the fuel filter is strictly prohibited!

How to change the coarse filter on a Hyundai Accent

The structure and Hyundai accent of replacing the coarse filter in the fuel filter of this model is quite interesting: Firstly, the primary purification of the fuel takes place when it first enters the tank, where there is a filter section. Secondly, the coarse filtration stage takes place in the gasoline pump, where the filter element of the same name is located.

And thirdly, spot cleaning of the fuel is carried out in the main filter itself, located a little further than the gas pump along the fuel paths of the car and organizing fine filtration of the fuel.

The system has another filtration process - spot cleaning. This happens in the main device, which is located further along the pump line.

Location of the fuel filter When should it be changed?

Replacing the fuel filter on a Hyundai Accent

According to the official Hyundai Accent technical manual, the filter device must be removed and changed at least every thousand kilometers. At the same time, the manufacturer recommends diagnosing the fuel filter every thousand km.

Hyundai Accent replacement of the coarse filter, if you contact an official dealer with this question, they will tell you that the service life of the part is 10 thousand.

This is done to obtain additional profits from consumers. The need for replacement may occur sooner if you regularly fill your car with low-quality fuel.

Reasons for rapid contamination For what reasons does the fuel filter fail ahead of schedule: The appearance of corrosion inside the structure as a result of prolonged water condensation.

Accumulation of contaminants in the design of the device, resulting from chemical reactions of fuel with oxygen and metal components. Formation of tar deposits. Blockage of the fuel system lines with ice and frozen water crystals formed during Hyundai Accent replacement of the coarse filter at air temperatures. User Andrey Florida showed in his video how to independently change the filter device in the Accent.

Choosing a filter Before changing a part, you need to decide on the choice of a new filter.

Fuel filter for Accent - where is it located, which one to buy

All second-generation gasoline Hyundai Accents use the same fuel filter. It is remote and installed separately from the fuel module. This arrangement is more convenient when replacing. The original article number is 3191125000.

The fine fuel filter is located at the rear of the car, next to the module. To get to it, you need to lift the back seat and unscrew the cover under which there is a fuel module, and next to it there is a fine filter installed. Before replacing it directly, you need to relieve the pressure in the fuel system. To do this, you need to remove the fuel pump relay under the hood and start the car, waiting until it stalls, having used up the remaining fuel. Next, we try to start it a couple more times, after which we can remove the fuel filter.

There are also original filters on sale with the “S” suffix in front of the article number. This spare part is intended for post-warranty service, and its quality is slightly worse.

The most famous analogues used by Accent Tagaz owners can be selected from the list below.

If you do not have the opportunity or desire to pay extra money to service station workers to replace the fuel filter, and the time for replacement has come, install a new filter yourself.

The convenient location of the filter element does not require lifting the car on a lift. And to install a new filter you only have to remove the rear seat cushion.

The video will show how to replace the fuel filter on a car, and will also tell you about some of the nuances and subtleties of the process.

Step by step instructions

Removing the rear seats

Removing the protective cover

Location of the fuel filter Let's consider step by step how to independently replace a part on a Hyundai Accent car. If necessary, you can also watch the video instructions.

Replacing the fuel filter on a Hyundai Accent includes the following procedures.

  1. First, using a 3/8 ratchet and a 12mm socket, remove the rear seats. To do this, remove four 12 mm bolts, two bolts for each of the seats.
  2. Remove the panel rivet, which can be removed with bare fingers or with a flathead screwdriver.
  3. Remove the trim by opening the cover that provides access to the fuel tank and disconnecting the wires.
  4. After disconnecting the wires, start the Accent and allow it to idle until the engine is turned off. At this time, it is recommended to ensure a flow of fresh air into the garage by opening windows or gates. The engine stalls after 3-5 minutes, causing the fuel line to release pressure. Otherwise, the pressure in the fuel line will lead to splashing from the inside of the car.
  5. Using a 10 mm wrench, remove the negative terminal from the battery, then push the rear seats in, increasing the amount of space available for work. To turn off the first fuel line, press the protrusions on the sides. A little fuel leaks out of the system, which can be removed with a rag or waffle towels. Next, using pliers, squeeze the clamp on the second line and remove the clamp, making it possible to remove the hose, after which the excess fuel is wiped off again.
  6. While holding the fasteners, remove the eight screws using a screwdriver. These screws may become stripped - in this case, a 1/4 ratchet with an 8 mm head will come to the rescue. After removing all the screws, carefully remove the ring and gasket and set it aside. The most convenient option is to remove and lay the ring without turning it, and then install it back in the same way - this will make it easier to replace the holes for the screws.
  7. Next, you should pull the entire assembly out of the fuel tank. To do this, pull it up and then obliquely, clearing the hole in the tank. When the unit is tilted, fuel flows from it, so it is advisable to ensure that it flows back into the tank. Otherwise, remove spilled gasoline with rags.
  8. To remove the top of the assembly, the three retaining clips are unlocked and then gently pulled upward. By opening the cover, you can disconnect the wiring and harness attached to the fuel pump.
  9. You can use a screwdriver or the tip of a pair of pliers to twist the metal bracket that holds the block together. Once the bracket is detached, the device can be easily removed by normal pulling. In this case, you should not remove the rigid plastic hose, which is quite difficult to detach and install back - it is best to leave the structure assembled, with the original bracket holding it in place.
  10. The fuel filter has two clamps that, when the fuel filter unit is pulled out, are retracted so that the unit can be pulled out completely. You should not immediately throw away the old filter, since new Hyundai filters are supplied without plastic washers, rubber rings and a cover, without which the car simply will not start. When installing these elements on a new filter, it is important to strictly follow the order: a white plastic washer, a black rubber ring, another white washer and a second ring. Having installed the rings and washers in the new filter, you can close the structure with the original lid.
  11. Once the fuel filter assembly is complete, place it back into the fuel assembly and then perform all of the above procedures in reverse order.

Before starting the car, the ignition key should be set to the operating position and wait until the noise of the fuel pump stops. After this you can start the car.

Consequences of untimely replacement

Untimely replacement will lead to failure of the filter and the inability of it to perform its assigned functions, which will manifest itself in:

  • increased fuel consumption;
  • the appearance of jolts and jerks when driving a car uphill;
  • reduction in the power of the power unit as a whole;
  • “tripping” of the engine when operating at different speeds;
  • spontaneous engine stop when idling;
  • the appearance of dips when you press the gas and increase the engine speed;
  • spontaneous engine stop if the driver does not press on the gas.

If the filter becomes completely clogged, starting the engine will be impossible.

Diagnostics of “clogged” filters

During the operation of a Hyundai Accent, it is important not only to observe the recommended timing for replacing its fuel filters, but also to constantly monitor the behavior of the car. It is the latter that serves as the main tool in diagnosing whether the filter is clogged or not. In general, a “clogged” Accent fuel filter provokes the following problems in the operation of the machine:

  • increase in fuel consumption from 1 to 5 liters;
  • instability at idle;
  • poor engine starting;
  • the presence of pronounced problems while driving a car (as a rule, the unit stumbles, does not pull, slows down or twitches on its own).

Important! If similar symptoms are observed specifically in your Hyundai Accent, then repair work on the car should begin with replacing the fuel filter. The likelihood that this particular node has failed is quite high if the symptoms noted above appear.

These symptoms are worthy of special attention if the service life of the fuel filters has already expired or is “on the verge”. In this case, it is important to replace the part immediately in order to prevent problems with the engine or injector of the model, which are often caused by the entry of dirty fuel into these components of the machine.

The Sect filter on diesel Accent 2 does not have its own article number, since it always comes with a pump, its article number is 311112D410. Separate replacement of this mesh is not required. When carrying out maintenance, it is enough to simply wash it with acetone or Carbcleaner.

Characteristic

The fuel filter on the Accent LC mainly differs only depending on the engine type, and partly, on the year of manufacture of the car. The official supplier of original fuel filters for cars is Mobis. There are several manufacturers. One of the most famous is Mahle.

In addition to the main fuel filter, the Tagaz Accent also has a mesh filter (coarse filter). It is located directly in the fuel tank, and is attached to the pump, which is installed in a special module (assembly). This pump grid is present on both cars with gasoline and diesel engines.

Fuel filter replacement process

You can replace the device yourself or with the help of specialists at a service station. This is a simple process, so let’s look at the procedure for changing it yourself.

Preparation

To change a part, prepare the following tools:

  • screwdrivers with Phillips and flat tips;
  • pliers;
  • wrench 10;
  • 12 and 8 mm head;
  • two ratchets - 3/8 and 1/4.

The Start channel published a video in which it showed the process of replacing the filter device in the Accent.

Stages of work

Changing the fuel filter:

  1. Due to the position of the filter device, a garage and a pit are not required to carry out the work. Unscrew the bolts that secure the rear seats in the car; to do this, use a 12 mm socket wrench and a 3/8 ratchet. Four screws are removed, two on each chair.
  2. Remove the special rivet on the panel. You can remove it by hand; if difficulties arise, use a flat-tip screwdriver.
  3. Dismantle the finishing coating. Remove the cap that covers the vehicle's gas tank. There are connectors with wires connected to it, they need to be disconnected.
  4. Once the plugs are disconnected, start your car's engine. It will work for a few minutes and then turn off on its own. This will relieve pressure in the fuel line of the machine. If work is carried out in a garage, we recommend opening the windows and doors. If you do not relieve pressure in the fuel lines, this will result in fuel spraying throughout the car interior as a result of removing the pump.
  5. Using a 10mm wrench, loosen the bolt that secures the negative terminal to the battery. The clamp itself must be disconnected. Move the front seats forward to provide additional access to the workspace. Move back and begin dismantling the filter. First you need to disconnect the first fuel line; to do this, you need to clamp the special protrusions located on the sides. When pressed, some of the fuel may escape from the fuel system, so prepare rags in advance. Using pliers, compress the clamp installed on the second line. Remove the clamp and disconnect the connected pipe. Wipe the device dry to remove any fuel. When performing work in the interior, starting the engine is not allowed. Smoking is prohibited during repairs.
  6. Using your hands to support the clamps, use a screwdriver to unscrew the eight bolts. If the bolts are broken, you will need a 1/4 ratchet with an 8mm socket. When all the screws are unscrewed, carefully remove the plastic ring and remove the rubber seal. Pay attention to the seal itself - if it is worn out or has signs of damage, it is better to replace the part.
  7. After this, the unit is dismantled from the gas tank. To remove the pump, pull it towards you and then diagonally. This is done so that during dismantling, part of the fuel from the pumping device goes back into the tank. When dismantling, be careful not to allow dirt to get inside the gas tank. Because of this, the new filter can quickly become clogged and become unusable, and the tank itself will have to be dismantled and cleaned of contaminants.
  8. Once the fuel pump is removed, it must be disassembled. To do this, disconnect the three fixing fasteners on the top of the device and carefully pull the structure up. After removing the cover, disconnect the harness with cables connected to the fuel pump.
  9. Use a screwdriver or pliers to remove the steel retainer that secures the block. After removing the mount, you can remove the device by pulling it towards you. It is not necessary to dismantle the hard plastic pipe, since it is quite difficult to connect and disconnect. We recommend leaving the device assembled.
  10. The filter device has two fasteners, which must be pulled back when dismantling the unit. This will allow you to completely dismantle the block. There is no need to disconnect the filter element and immediately throw it in the trash, since new devices are sold without plastic washers, rubber seals and a lid. All these components will need to be transferred from the old filter to the new one, otherwise the engine will not be able to start. When installing these components on a new device, you must follow the installation order. First, a white plastic washer is mounted, then a black rubberized ring, then another white washer and a second ring are installed. After installing these components on the new filter device, the entire structure can be covered with a lid.
  11. When the replacement procedure is completed, the filter element is mounted back into the fuel pump. Assembly steps are performed in reverse order. When starting the engine for the first time after replacement, difficulties may arise until sufficient pressure is built up in the system. See the replacement photo below.

Fuel filter for Accent 2 – where is it located, which one to buy?

The Sect filter on diesel Accent 2 does not have its own article number, since it always comes with a pump, its article number is 311112D410. Separate replacement of this mesh is not required. When carrying out maintenance, it is enough to simply wash it with acetone or Carbcleaner.

When to change the fuel filter on Hyundai Accent 2?

According to Accent 2 maintenance regulations, the fuel filter on a car with a gasoline engine must be changed every 40 thousand kilometers. If it is a diesel engine, then the replacement frequency is every 20 thousand kilometers. When operating a vehicle in difficult conditions, and/or with poor fuel quality, it is advisable to reduce these intervals by 1.5 - 2 times.

Each time you replace the main filter, the pump mesh does not need to be changed, but rather simply washed.

The fuel filter is installed in a holder on the fuel tank.

The fuel in the fuel lines is under pressure. Before any work related to depressurization of the fuel system, the pressure should be relieved.

To relieve pressure in the fuel system when the ignition is turned off.

. Remove the fuel pump relay from the relay and fuse mounting block (in the engine compartment).

Using the starter, we turn the engine crankshaft. If the engine starts, you should wait until it stalls. If the engine does not start, hold the key in the starter position for 3-4 seconds. After this, there will be no pressure in the fuel system.

A small amount of fuel will remain in the fuel lines and fuel filter.

Remove the rear seat cushion.

Using a sharp knife, cut off the sealant along the contour of the fuel tank flap. . and remove the cover.

To avoid sparks of static electricity jumping when disconnecting the fuel lines, disconnect the ground wire block from the fuel filter outlet only after removing the tube ends from the filter pipe and the fuel module cover.

By pressing the latch, disconnect the tip of the fuel supply line tube from the fuel module pipe.

Similarly, disconnect the tip of the tube from the fitting of the top beer filter.

Remove the fuel filter from the holder.

By pressing the tip lock, remove the tube from the fuel filter fitting.

By pressing the latch, disconnect the ground wire block from the fuel filter terminal.

Install the fuel filter in reverse order. We install the removed relay into the mounting block.

To fill the system with fuel, turn on the ignition for 3-4 seconds, but do not start the engine. The sound of the fuel pump will be heard for a few seconds. After the fuel pump automatically turns off, turn off the ignition. We inspect the connections of the fuel filter and fuel lines. If traces of fuel are detected, we again release the pressure in the fuel system and restore the tightness of the connections. We replace fuel pipes with faulty tips, clamps and a filter with a leaky housing. We apply new sealant around the entire perimeter of the fuel tank flap cover. Having previously removed the remains of the old one, we close the hatch with a lid. Install the rear seat cushion.
