It’s a cheap thing and it’s hardly worth paying attention to such a drawback, since engineers often save money even on expensive cars.
If we talk about spaciousness, the new Hyundai Greta is quite capable of accommodating four people in the cabin. There is a comfortable rear seat with a high seating position. There is enough space in the legs, although the knees rest against the back of the driver's seat, but this does not cause discomfort. If you buy a fully equipped model, you will find a button on the back with two-stage seat heating.
The trunk capacity is quite acceptable, despite the low class of the car. If you decide to go on a long journey with five of you, you will have to install an additional box on the roof of the car, since the stated capacity of 400 liters will not be enough. For convenience, Greta was equipped with railings. A huge plus of the new product from Hyundai is the “underground” luggage compartment. A spare wheel and additional sections for all kinds of driver's devices can easily fit here. It turns out that the same tools will not fly and roll all over the trunk while driving.

If we talk about the characteristics of the Hyundai Greta, we should start with the fact that the platform was borrowed from the familiar and already “native” Solaris. But there were some modifications - the rear shock absorbers were positioned at an angle of 90°. That is why the reconfigured Greta appeared in our country one year late. In China, Korea and India, the new model is known to consumers under the symbol ix25. The thing is that domestic crossover drivers want to drive not only on normal roads, but also to conquer off-road terrain.
It took about a year just for the engineers to bring the chassis to perfection, testing the car on Russian roads. As a result, we got a car with higher ground clearance and calibrated shock absorbers. How did it all turn out? Not good. But at the same time, buying a Hyundai Creta means getting a reliable and understandable car. After just a few kilometers, you get the impression that you have been driving this car for several years. Agree, not bad quality for a new car?
Power steering was installed only on the model with a 1.6 liter engine and manual transmission (basic configurations, “budget” version). Other versions of the Greta are equipped with electric boosters, which transmit such serious force that you will have to get used to nimble and sharp maneuvers. Not to say that this is a drawback, but it will take a long time to get used to. This mistake is especially noticeable on winding sections of the route, where you have to maneuver a lot.
The Hyundai Creta with all-wheel drive handles and feels superb on spacious highways and ruts. It easily overcomes turns and potholes - you don’t even have to slow down when passing through sections with sharp changes and potholes. The car keeps track perfectly. A slight delay in reaction when entering sharp turns can be attributed to the high profile tires. Greta is equipped with R17 215/60. As for rolls, they are caused by an increased center of gravity.
As for the monoconductor with an elastic beam in the rear of the Hyundai Greta, they cannot be called stable - the system is unstable in a straight line and behaves “averagely” when cornering. But, despite these shortcomings, Creta is considered one of the best B-class crossovers. On winding serpentines, only the Yeti behaves more compliantly.
The car also showed good performance off-road - it turned out that the Hyundai Creta manufacturer had really found the optimal level of balance.
Another nuance is the poor energy consumption of the rear suspension (on front-wheel drive). In large potholes and when crossing railway tracks, the driver will experience “all the shortcomings.” In the all-wheel drive version of the car, such problems are not observed - on small holes and potholes, the Hyundai Greta behaves perfectly, does not sway or twitch.
If we talk about roads with good coverage, then Greta feels great on them. The engine power is enough for confident overtaking, the automatic transmission calmly switches to 1-2 steps smoothly, with slight delays. But, despite its confident behavior on the road, a crossover with a 150 hp engine. and with a 6-speed automatic transmission you still expect more.
Hyundai Greta configurations
Unfortunately, there is simply no diesel version of the Greta. The Hyundai Greta is available exclusively with petrol engines. The budget versions of the car were equipped with a 1.6 liter engine with a total power of 123 hp, which works in conjunction with both a manual and automatic transmission. More expensive variations have the G4NA engine, which works only with an automatic transmission. But, there is encouraging news - the manufacturer is still considering whether to install manual engines on 2 liter engines or not.
As for all-wheel drive, this variation of the Hyundai Creta is equipped exclusively with 2-liter engines. Only one factor remains unchanged - the number of speeds, which reaches 6 gears. Before starting production on the domestic assembly line, the manufacturer did a great job on the combination of gearbox and engine. By setting up the new system, the engineers managed to smooth out the “roughness” - the gearbox lever switches gears effortlessly, the gas pedal moves smoothly.
Owners of the Hyundai Greta may encounter dampening of the pedal - when you press the gas, the Creta does not respond immediately. When pressed harder, the car starts aggressively. With heavy traffic on city streets, this type of driving quickly becomes boring and annoying. But even such an aggressive character of Greta does not in any way detract from the quality characteristics of the car. At the same time, the brand new Captur with its 4-speed automatic transmission “does it” calmly.
A distinctive feature of the Creta is its heavy weight. Compared to Solaris, Creta has become 300 kg heavier! Despite the 2 liter engine under the hood, the “newbie” is inferior in power terms. These figures easily explain the consumption of 8 l/100 km outside the city, which is quite a lot for a compact modern crossover.
If we talk about the version with a 1.6 liter engine, then in the first months of sales, versions with manual and automatic transmission were sold. Unfortunately, the automatic version was not included in the test and we had to test exclusively the manual, which is also not bad.
Motor with a total power of 123 hp. and a volume of 1.6 liters is unlikely to please fans of fast and reckless driving. The traction is of an even type, which is picked up at the top. The “mechanics” did not leave a pleasant impression, the mechanism of which was not the most successful.
Many drivers are captivated not by the “filling” of the new Greta, but by its excellent noise insulation characteristics. Even when working at the limit, the engine does not growl like a wounded animal, and in simple operating mode it is practically inaudible. The price of the Hyundai Greta is determined by all of the above indicators and pleasantly surprises even the discerning consumer with its democratic nature.

Advantages and disadvantages of Hyundai Creta
Among the shortcomings are the uncovered gearbox and control unit. A low-mounted muffler, which can easily be punctured or crushed by a protruding stone or snag, can cause a lot of problems off-road. But even if it stalls, the car will not give the slightest signal of overheating, even if the engine is seriously strained.
As for off-road, Greta looks decent on it - high ground clearance of 19 cm, well-thought-out suspension, large-radius tires. But there are a number of disadvantages here - the Hyundai Greta is ideal for overcoming off-road conditions on a flat surface. It is simply not recommended to take risks and ride it on sand dunes or hills. A deep rut is also not the type of surface that a car can easily overcome. There is a high probability that the car will simply sit on the bottom.

As the years go by, we change our views on certain beliefs over time. If earlier many car enthusiasts perceived the Korean auto industry rather coldly, today everything has changed dramatically. Take the same Solaris, now Greta... The new product on the market is a reliable, high-quality, interesting and balanced car, which is presented on the market at an affordable price.
