What is the tire pressure
Tire pressure is a relative value, but for tires of different sizes it should be almost the same. The pressure indicator does not mean the amount of air, but the ratio of air in the tire to its total volume.
According to the factory parameters, the pressure in R13 tires should be 1.9 atmospheres, while for R14 and R15 tires the pressure must be maintained at two atmospheres.
At the same time, do not forget about the regular load on the car. If the load is the average load capacity of a vehicle of this model, then the tire pressure must be maintained at the above level. In cases where most of the time the car owner loads the vehicle to the maximum, the tire pressure should be increased by 0.2 atmospheres.
Pressure tends to influence two of the most important indicators of a vehicle.
- Safety. You should not be lenient about the tire pressures recommended by the manufacturer in the vehicle's technical specifications. At high speeds, reduced pressure increases braking distance and reduces agility and controllability.
- Gasoline consumption. With a reduced level of tire pressure, the engine has to work more intensively, which leads to increased fuel consumption. In addition, the wear resistance of the tread is reduced.

One of the main parameters of nuts or bolts is the shape of their pressing surface, which can have several varieties. When selecting the necessary nuts, you should proceed from the shape of the recess in the mounting hole of the disk.
Most often it is necessary to use bolts or nuts with a cone-shaped clamping part. As a rule, the cone has an angle of 60°. Sometimes such bolts may have a 1.3 mm head and a nose at the end of the nut.
The clamping surface of the fastener can also be flat or hemispherical. It is important that the clamping planes of the fastener and the disk fully correspond to each other. Otherwise, over time, as a result of strong dynamic loads, the attachment point will weaken. When choosing nuts with closed heads, you should pay attention to their length.
If the pin prematurely rests on its inner part, then it will not be possible to fully tighten it. Also, nuts that are too short may not leave room for the socket head of the impact wrench. Some wheel models only allow the use of hex or star nuts.
When choosing bolts, you need to consider their length. A reliable connection can only be achieved if the bolt is screwed in to the entire threaded thickness of the hub. However, if it is too long, then when the car moves, such fasteners will begin to cling to internal structures.
Ideally, the tip of the bolt should only protrude a couple of threads when fully tightened. Bolts are made only from steel, but nuts can be steel, aluminum or titanium.

It is clear that any car manufacturer, just like AvtoVAZ, always recommends installing only its original sets of spare parts. But replacing a wheel rim with non-standard samples has long been considered completely commonplace.

The markings on the discs must be carefully studied - this is the only way to make sure that they are safe to use. Product markings are standard. In any case, the designation contains the letter I or S. The letter I means that the wheel is “identical” and is installed on production cars. S indicates that the wheel is special, that is, its certification is not tied to a specific brand of car. In some cases, there is no letter designation - instead, the name of the plant where the car was made and its catalog number are applied to the rim.
As an example, consider the rim marker 7.5 j x16 H2 5/112 ET 35 d 66.6:
- The first numbers are the width of the disk. For example, 7.5 means the width is 7.5 inches. To convert to centimeters, you need to multiply by 2.54.
- The letter J means that the wheel has some design features. This information is of no interest to consumers.
- X indicates the indivisibility of the disk.
- The number 16 is the wheel caliber corresponding to the tire caliber.
- H2 reports that there are 2 humps on the rim.
- The number 5 is the number of holes for fasteners, 112 is the diameter at which they are located.
- ET 35 speaks of a plus offset, the size of which is 35 mm.
- d 66.6 - central hole gauge. Ideally it should be identical to the hub caliber. If this is not the case, an additional ring must be used to center the fit. It is also called transitional.
Is it possible to install wheels of size R16 205/55 on the Lada Granta
Wheels with a radius of R16 and dimensions of 205/55 are not suitable for both the regular LadaGranta configuration and the Sport model. Due to their too large diameter, they will fit too tightly, which when driving will lead to rapid wear of the treads and reduced maneuverability of the vehicle. What happens when the calculated disc offset changes?
The only thing that really affects offset is the placement of the center axis of the disc in relation to the hub. As the offset increases, the wheel sits deeper on the hub, thereby narrowing the wheelbase. As the offset decreases, the wheelbase widens and the wheel “comes out” outward.
The main thing for a car enthusiast is to understand that any deviation of the central axis of the disk also shifts the steering axis, while the steering wheel turning parameters provided by the designer, the moments of forces that act on the suspension, and the vectors of their application change. In total, all these conditions provoke the suspension to operate in a mode not intended by the car manufacturer. This greatly affects its service life and driving safety, especially during extreme driving.
Despite the fact that a wheel with an unintended offset may fit perfectly on the hub, this does not mean that you are guaranteed safe use of the disk. If the offset of your disk exceeds the standard parameters, use wheel spacers, but finding spacers that would fit you perfectly will not be easy.

The load to which the car's suspension is subjected can be calculated from the applied load arm - the distance from the middle of the rim to the hub. For each specific car model there can be only one ET - the value of this parameter should not depend on the size of the rim and the tires installed on it. The offset value is written on the wheel. The marker could be like this: ET35. The number 35 means the distance in millimeters. In this case, the distance has a positive value. The distance will be negative if the ET-35 marker is applied, or zero if ET0 is applied.
