Restyling of the VAZ 2109 from 2001 took place only in some parts of the body, so the entire base, including the suspension, wheel arches, hubs, etc., remained untouched. Therefore, the wheels on the VAZ 2114 that the manufacturer equipped its cars with were also the same.

In the simplest configuration with a 1.5 liter engine, the car came off the assembly line with 5.5J x 13 ET35 wheels, which corresponded to a radius of 13 inches and was suitable for high-profile tires with parameters 175/70/R13 and a bolt pattern of 4x98, and the drill diameter was 58.6 mm.

All other modifications from later dates (since 2003 with a 1.6 liter engine and since 2007 - 1.7 liter) were equipped with 15 radius wheels. Depending on how the car was equipped with various options, the dimensions were 5.0J x 14 ET35, 5.5J x 14 ET35, 6.0J x 14 ET35, tires came with parameters 175/65/R14 and 185/60/R14. This shows that the wheel offset does not change, and its width varies within 10 mm, which does not affect the stability of the car at all. However, with a tire width of 185 mm, maneuverability in difficult road conditions became slightly better.

Important ! The listed wheel sizes for the Lada 2114 satisfied few people, both in size and in terms of visual characteristics - in simple versions the stamped wheels were simply painted in metallic color, and in more expensive versions these same products were covered with decorative plastic caps. The last step is to use a universal acrylic primer. These products are sold in aerosol packaging.

Stamped

The most common type are stamped steel wheels. They are installed at the factory when the car is assembled. They gained such popularity among manufacturers for a reason. Stamped wheels are the most budget option among their competitors in the form of “cast” and “forged” wheels.

They cost approximately 1200-2000 rubles for the version with a 14 radius. The second important advantage is their impact resistance. Once damaged, they do not crack, but bend, so they can be easily restored in any tire shop.

The disadvantages of such discs are their weight and appearance. They are made of metal, which results in a lot of weight. All stamped discs are similar to each other, so they are not particularly popular in terms of beauty. The result is the purchase of wheel caps.

Selection of materials, tips

Typically, acrylic paint, glossy or matte, is used to paint metal. The primer for this paint is also acrylic (universal). There are also nitro paints. All of the above materials are packaged in an aerosol. But, as is easy to understand, not every primer is suitable for nitro enamels. Be aware that nitrogen based primers and paints are prohibited for use in most countries.

Here are some tips that are known even to beginners:

The higher the air temperature, the faster drying occurs;
The color of the primer should approximately match the color of the paint;
The aerosol must be shaken before use. The packaging temperature, moreover, should not be lower than 25 degrees. This advice applies to any aerosol: with paint, primer or varnish.

It was said how to paint stamped wheels if you know that the work will be done with your own hands. And therefore, such an option as using powder paints was not considered. Good luck.

According to reviews, 4 discs require: 2 cans of dye (450 ml), one can of primer (450 ml), one can of varnish.

Cast

The second most popular are alloy wheels. They have a number of advantages over “stamped” ones. One of these advantages is the weight, which can be several times less than that of a stamp. Alloy wheels are made from aluminum and magnesium alloys.

Such substances are characterized by fairly low weight and good thermal conductivity, which ensures better heat dissipation from the car’s brake components. Also, these accessories can be of any shape, which gives a more elegant and presentable look to the VAZ-2114 on alloy wheels.

The disadvantages of alloy wheels include their cost and fragility. As a rule, the price is approximately 3000-4000 rubles for the option with a 14 radius. This is 1.5-2 times more expensive than a stamped disk. Fragility lies in the impossibility of difficult restoration of disks after they split.

Forged

Such discs are radically different in production technology from previous ones. Due to this, forged wheels are characterized as the strongest and most durable. You can also note their lightness, which surpasses even casting.
